This month we are welcoming Colleen Piper, Owner of The Bullet Shop. About Colleen: Colleen's desire for shooting came at an early age. Her family hunted like most families back in the day and as she grew older, shooting was put on the back burner. Then she met her husband of 44 years, Ed. Their love of the outdoors had them out deer, elk, moose, bird game and migratory hunting. It didn't take long before she stole his 270 Ruger Bolt Action rifle (which she still uses today!). As soon as their sons were old enough, they got involved with hunting too. Colleen's passion for IPSC started when she attended the Calgary Gun Show in 2004. Off in the back corner I could hear gun fire and she just had to go see what was going on. There was a booth with 4 smiling guys so eager to sell this new passion called IPSC. Her interest was sparked! 2 years later a gentleman move to their home town and started IPSC at their local club - the Brooks Pistol and Small Bore Club. Here was her chance to get her feet wet. In the spring of 2006 Colleen and Ed took their Black Badge Course which is required to shoot IPSC. In 2007 Colleen and Ed competed in the Alberta Provincials at their home range. No doubt, They had both gotten the shooting bug! As one would know most hobbies are expensive; no different than with IPSC. Colleen and Ed's passion for shooting and attending matches quickly out-paced their finances. What else to do than to buy a remanufacturing handgun ammunition company! Colleen and Ed purchased The Bullet Shop in 2008. Since then, their business has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. Collen and Ed feel truly blessed to be able to do something they are both passionate about. The Bullet Shop has helped fellow competitors earn National titles, including Amanda Fisher, who competed and won Top Production Lady in 2024 and Justin Thomson, who won Top Production Optics on the National Team in 2024. Colleen started to compete in 2006 and since then has had to work hard to achieve and hold onto top lady in Alberta for years. She has achieved titles of Top Lady in Standard at the Alberta Provincials and Canadian Nationals, as well as Top Production Optics Lady in Alberta. Colleen's biggest reward in the world of IPSC is watching her friends, new and old, participating in something they are passionate about. Watching how all their hard work in practice has paid off at matches. The smiles, laughs and tears are all a part of this wonderful world called IPSC. The Beauty Industry's Best-Kept Secret: Highlights from the 2024 Beauty Trade ShowThe beauty industry is ever-evolving, and there's no better way to stay ahead of the curve than by attending trade shows. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Valentina France and Amanda Fisher from Hair Life on our podcast to discuss the 2024 Beauty Trade Show in the Smoky Mountains. This event has been making waves in the industry, and for good reason. Here's a deep dive into the highlights and why you should be excited about the future of beauty. The 2024 Beauty Trade Show of the Smoky Mountains was a groundbreaking event that brought together some of the most innovative minds and products in the beauty industry. Valentina and Amanda, both seasoned hairstylists and salon owners, shared their firsthand experiences and insights from the show. They revealed that the event exceeded their expectations, with around 500 attendees and a plethora of new trends and products that are set to revolutionize the industry. One of the standout products from the trade show was IUVENI, a hair treatment that Valentina and Amanda are now using on every client in their salon. The chemist behind IUVENI was present at the show, offering a unique opportunity to understand the science and innovation behind this game-changing product. The enthusiasm doesn't stop there; RD Shears by Dusty Rhode also made a significant impact. Valentina raved about the quality of these shears, stating they were the best she's used in her 26-year career. The trade show wasn't just about products; it was a hub for networking and building meaningful connections. Valentina and Amanda emphasized the importance of these interactions, noting how every vendor was eager to engage and educate attendees about their offerings. This level of connection is often missing in larger, more commercial trade shows, making the Smoky Mountains event a refreshing change.Education was another key component of the trade show. With a variety of workshops and seminars, attendees had the chance to learn from industry leaders. Classes ranged from hand-tied extensions to social media strategies, offering something for everyone. Amanda highlighted the hand-tied extension class by Morgan Buckner as particularly memorable, showcasing the depth and quality of education available at the event. The trade show's atmosphere was another highlight. Unlike the chaotic energy of larger events, the Smoky Mountains trade show was laid-back and conducive to genuine interactions. This environment allowed attendees to absorb information, connect with vendors, and truly enjoy the experience. Valentina and Amanda's calm demeanor, despite the hustle and bustle, was a testament to the well-organized nature of the event. As we look to the future, the impact of the 2024 Beauty Trade Show is clear. New products like IUVENI and RD Shears are set to transform salons, while the connections made will foster growth and innovation in the industry. Millie Hindes was born and raised in a suburb of Columbus, OH. Millie was bartending when she met a storm chaser, moved to Portland OR, fell in love with the town, riding a truck, climbing a ladder and getting on roofs, and sweating her “tookus off”... Millie chased storms for a few years, in 9 different cities... then she had her last TERRIBLE boss (story of climbing 10:12) and opened her business about 10 years ago. And YES she is the founder - it is not her father's business, it is not her husband's business... She “OWNs THIS B****!!!” ;) Watergate Roofing: covers up what's inside. What makes them different is the company outlook and motto: Do it right. Do it well. The office is a happy, fun place to be - Nick, her “Beyonce” (we'll expand on that) and she, has learned the importance of positive reinforcement with the staff. “EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES - it's how you fix them that counts.” Millie started taking the growth of the company more seriously after she had Louie, her 4-year-old. Now Watergate Roofing is in a growth phase, and she doesn't have control of everything- which is SUPER difficult to deal with, she says. Millie states, “I don't know all my customers, we get leads off the interweb, they're not all referrals - stuff goes wrong that I don't know about - and I am expected to deal with this sh** like an adult!!” Amanda Fisher is the company's sales coach and management/strategy coach - she helps the company back up out of the day-to-day - so they can see the BIG picture - long-term growth, hiring, firing. What is the pelvic floor & why does it matter? You came to the right place to learn more. Natalie sits down remotely with Amanda Fisher to talk all things pelvic floor. Amanda is a mom to three boys, wife, Physical Therapist (DPT) and founder/owner of Empower Your Pelvis Clinic and Empower Your Pelvis online. Topics covered on this episode: Pelvic floor 101 Issues faced when pelvic floor is "imbalanced" Pregnancy protocol for taking care of your pelvic floor Postpartum protocol - vaginal birth Postpartum protocol- Cesarean Pelvic floor for men AND SO MUCH MORE! Here is Amanda's full bio from her website :) Hey there, I'm Amanda Fisher, Doctor of Physical Therapy at Empower Your Pelvis. Most days you can find me in the morning at the gym with a water in one hand and coffee in the other, followed by taking my boys to school and then at the clinic with my favorite, pelvic patients. I am wife to my hunky, husband-Brett, and a mother to my wild-n-crazy three boys (yes, my hands are full!). I am mostly known for my passion for pelvic floor dysfunction and teaching women how to find vaginal healthy products at Target (yes, I have a video on YouTube on this). I love serving the world by helping women realize there is hope with pelvic floor issues like peeing your pants, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and pain with intercourse. The things I am most passionate about in life are my family, spending time with my husband and kids, pelvic health, health and fitness, 90s/2000s hip hop, baking cookies, gardening herbs, bike riding, personal growth journeys and mojitos. I am a true believer that life happens for us, not to us. In 2008, I started leaking urine while training for half marathons. Then in 2009 I developed pelvic pain (specifically, pain with sex…so not fun) which led me down this wonderful path of pelvic health. I have been scared and ashamed of my symptoms and learned how to overcome them. Then in 2013, 2015 and 2017, after the births of each of my children, I had pelvic organ prolapse. I began feeling pressure in my vaginal canal with prolonged standing or right before I had a bowel movement. I worked really hard to improve my pelvic floor muscle strength and coordination to continue to work out and stay healthy for myself and my family. After many different paths of pelvic floor dysfunction, I feel I can relate to my patients and love being their accountability partner. I am lucky to provide my patients tools to improve their pelvic health so they can improve their health, fitness and sometimes, even their marriage/ relationship. This month we talked to Amanda Fisher and Laura Seitz; IPSC, USPSA and Steel Challenge competitive shooters. We'll talk about how they got into the sport, their success stories and maybe some flops and what they learned from them. Amanda Fisher Amanda Fisher is a competitive shooter from Alberta. IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) is what she predominately competes in but also dabbles in a bit of 3 gun, USPSA and Steel Challenge. Her love and interest of firearms began in 2015 when she shot her first pistol. To better understand the working of a handgun, she took the Black Badge course. This is a holster training course that is a prerequisite to shooting IPSC. Although Amanda had no interest in competing, she wanted her Black Badge certification so she competed in her first IPSC competition early 2016. Well, she was hooked and the rest is history. Right now, Amanda shoots a CZ Shadow 2 in the Production Division in IPSC but will be transitioning to the Standard Division in the near future. In 2018 Amanda successfully completed the Range Officer course and has RO'd several major matches Nationally. Her accomplishments have been a wonderful journey for her; currently she is the Top Production Division Lady in Alberta, Top Production Division Lady in Saskatchewan, the 5th place overall in Production Division in Alberta and the 5th Lady in the Production Division in Canada. With her strong finishes and her will to keep going forward, Amanda has recently been accepted to represent Alberta on the Alberta Gold Team at the Canadian Nationals 2022 and Canada at the IPSC World Shoot Championships in Thailand, November 2022. In preparation for the World Shoot, Amanda is loading a ton of ammunition and doing regular dry fire sessions for when the weather is better, and she can put her dry fire training to the test on the range and in provincial qualifying events. Laura Seitz Laura was first introduced to firearms when she was about 12 years old, by her Dad and her uncle. She loved it! However, there was a large gap in time that she didn't think about shooting. Time passed, she got older, went to school, pursued a career, participated in other sports and got married. One day at the end of 2019, out of the blue, her husband asked me what she thought of guns and she shared her childhood memories. This began an exciting and fun filled passion that she and her husband, Devon, share to this day. Laura's journey with shooting began again when she joined a Steel Challenge league night. It was so gratifying to hear that steel ring! Soon after, they both got their Black Badge and started going to as many International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and Steel Challenge matches as they could. She shot both Alberta (AB) and Saskatchewan (SK) Provincials last year and then went on to the Canadian National Steel Challenge Championships. This led to an opportunity to write an article with a friend and competitor, Amanda Fisher, in the USPSA magazine published in 2021.

Setting up this kind of support is quick, easy and cost efficient, with Mace and Amey going from initial discussions to launch in less than six weeks – testament to the commitment to change made by the leaders there." This episode feels especially relevant right now, and if you tune in to find out the name of Jamie's pump, you'll see why. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did, and as always, if you want to continue the conversation please join us over on the pumpspotting app.
