Valerie is a former A-list personal assistant and Chief of Staff, current founder and CEO of ChatterBoss, the first and only remote executive assistant service of its kind. Her mission is to guide entrepreneurs to building friction-less teams using a human-centric approach. She joins Nana on Build Value By Choice to discuss her company and what it can do for business owners. KEY TAKEAWAYS ChatterBoss is the brainchild of Valerie Trapunsky, who founded the company in 2017 after a decade spent working as a top-level assistant for A-list celebrities and as the Chief of Staff for high-net-worth individuals and CEOs. During that time, Valerie developed a passion for effective problem-solving, and became committed to bringing the same level of excellent service to solo entrepreneurs and small business owners. Valerie's problem-solving skills and genuine love of people are the foundation of everything at ChatterBoss. They solve customer needs through a combination of intelligent technology, intelligent systems, and most importantly, intelligent people. Together, the whole team has built a product that clients can trust to deliver personalized, reliable, and thoughtful service. Your dedicated assistant will be in the same country as you, this has nothing to do with education or quality. This is because it makes the process easier with day to day things someone in your country would know. For example in the US someone would know what the DMV is, but someone in France may not. The most effective advice Valerie has is to give yourself grace and start slow. You're not going to become a master delegator overnight even if you come from a corporate structure. Work at delegating over time and giving up that control we all feel we need to have. BEST MOMENTS ‘I was supporting these really powerful people who utilize assistants in ways I never imagined' ‘Customization is the foundation of what we're built on' ‘We have a goal to scale and be the top executive assistant company in the US' EPISODE RESOURCES Valerie Trapunsky | LinkedIn ChatterBoss VALUABLE RESOURCES Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ ABOUT THE HOST Nana Bonsu: “I am an entrepreneur and ex-Corporate Executive who's applying his experience and knowledge from working in various ways to pursue my passion of helping small business owners increase their choices in life by leveraging my knowledge and experience, their employees, systems and money. Tony Kitchens is our guest today. He's a speaker, author, and entrepreneur who believes in transforming fear and pain into fuel for an amazing life. With the book "The Gift of Pain," Tony inspires as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. His companies have generated over $100 million in revenue and serviced multinational corporations worldwide. He's on a mission to share his wisdom globally. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Gift of Pain is a story of entrepreneurship, mental toughness, and above all the power of charting a path of your own choosing in life. It will teach you how to find the courage and strength to reach for your dreams. One of the lessons Tony learned from the global pandemic was to plan as much as you can but be open to changing those plans when the situation changes. You can't allow yourself to be defeated when you face challenges, you have to rise and overcome them. Through Tony's philanthropic work he and his family helped put 37 Kenyan children who had never had any education before through school. They even built water systems and an entire technology center at a school there. Thanks to Tony the students had access to laptops for the first time and the local community could use them as well. The 5 key takeaways Tony wants you to take from his story are: 1. Build your mindset. Don't give your mind the opportunity to talk you out of your dreams. 2. Have faith. The biggest rewards come after the biggest leaps of faith. 3. Face the pain. Embrace adversity and challenge as opportunities to dig deeper and grow more. 4. Channel your strength. Learn to draw on past pleasure and pain to move through life. 5. Cultivate the future. You never know when the seeds you plant will grow, so tend carefully. BEST MOMENTS‘Closing a business is way more difficult than starting one' ‘I wanted other people to see tough situations and how the pain can propel us'‘Never in your business plans did you ever see a situation where global trade would stop' ‘What can you do for others outside of your space' ‘It's not about them as business owners, it's about what they can do to serve the greater good' EPISODE RESOURCES Experiences he shares in his book entitled “The Gift of Pain” available at www.giftofpainbook.com Life and Business Strategies, available at https://www.tonyrkitchens.com/programs Motivational Speaking events, inquire at https://www.tonyrkitchens.com/book-tony-to-speak Online Business Courses, available at https://academy.tonyrkitchens.com/how-to-win-in-business Youtube Channel: youtube.com/@tonykitchens LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tony-r-kitchens-466778209/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here:
We have a special guest today who is going to be talking about business owner burnout: how do we recognize the signs, how to prevent it, and what strategies we can use to deal with it if, and when it occurs. Our guest today is Michael D. Leavitt . Michael is the founder and chief burnout officer of the Breakfast Leadership Network, which is a San Diego and Toronto-based burnout consultant firm. KEY TAKEAWAYS As business owners, especially when starting out, we often find ourselves juggling multiple roles, from bookkeeper to janitor to CEO and everything in between. This can consume a lot of time, and if we neglect self-care, monitor our energy levels, and ensure sufficient rest, it can eventually catch up to us. Balancing these responsibilities while prioritizing our well-being is crucial to sustainably building a successful business. Effective delegation is vital for business owners. By entrusting routine tasks and responsibilities to skilled workers or team members, owners can focus on strategic decision-making, client relationships, and leadership. Embracing delegation maximizes productivity and leadership impact, leading to greater overall success for the business and vital time for yourself. If the numbers on your screen are literally moving around, it's a sign that you need to shut the laptop down and take a break. The work you're doing in that state won't be productive or beneficial. Is the toll on your health and well-being worth it? While striving for business success is essential, it should not come at the expense of your health and happiness. Good nutrition is key for sustained focus and alertness at work. A balanced diet supports brain function, concentration, and mental clarity, leading to improved productivity and overall well-being. Staying hydrated is also essential for cognitive function and preventing fatigue. Prioritize nutrition for optimal work performance. BEST MOMENTS‘I was guilty of not being good at delegation because I was afraid I'd burnout my employees' ‘The damage we do today gets piled on top of the damage we do tomorrow and the next day' ‘If the things that normally interest you are not interesting anymore, that's a good warning sign' ‘In an 8 hour day the actual productivity of a worker is 4 hours' EPISODE RESOURCES LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/MichaelDLevittTwitter: https://twitter.com/bfastleadership Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bfastleadership/ YouTube: youtube.com/@breakfastleadership Blog: https://BreakfastLeadership.com/blog Interviews: https://BreakfastLeadership.com/mediaPodcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/4fJZLyoYQ82T3DR4OPqRIb Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/bfastleadership Books: Burnout Proof: https://amzn.to/37prw48 369 Days: How To Survive A Year of Worst-Case Scenarios: https://amzn.to/38Zd807 Burnout: How You Entered The Path To Burnout: https://amzn.to/2GQWFyZSpeakerHub:
Today's guest is Anne Hill, creator of Hilltop Virtual Solutions. Anne and host Nana Bonsu will be discussing business operations. We will explore how business owners can thrive by leveraging their zone of genius, optimizing assistance processes, conducting data analysis, managing teams, and improving overall business owner health. Join us as Anne shares her expertise and insights on these important topics. KEY TAKEAWAYS After suffering from burnout, Anne took her experience building processes, teams and businesses in the healthcare space and started her own business. While Anne started as a Physical Therapist and Rehab Manager, she now spends her days rehabbing and restoring businesses. In the medical world it's easy to see if you're healthy or if you're sick, whereas in the business world you can't necessarily see if your company is healthy or if there is something wrong. There's no set guide to what a successful business is. To run a healthy business you need to be healthy yourself as the business owner. We see so many business owners work constantly, continuously trying to grow, and try to wear too many hats at once. We need to learn to let go of some control to allow ourselves that space to take care of our own personal needs. As your business grows you need to keep track of how your increasing team size will affect your profits. What is the breaking point where the cost of hiring more staff will overtake the growth in your business financially. When hiring you need to have a clear understanding of what specific role they are there to do and how it will compliment your zone of genius. To avoid a revolving door in your hiring, you need to find someone who fits in with your business culture and values so they'll be there for the long haul. Anne's key piece of information for growing your business is having that foundational structure in place so that when you are building and growing, not everything revolves around you as a business owner doing it yourself. BEST MOMENTS‘It took me a while to notice everything I did as a rehab manager correlates to what small businesses need' ‘There needs to be a line of when is business time and when is personal time'‘When the business owner is taking care of themselves the better shape the business is in' ‘It's all in looking at the data and the metrics' EPISODE RESOURCES Hilltop Operations + Consulting VALUABLE RESOURCESInfinite Horizons Free WebinarProductize ebookLeave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/BuildvaluebychoiceGet your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuationPodcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Chris Fagnant joins Nana Bonsu on this episode of Build Value By Choice to discuss making your business more sellable, specifically in the manufacturing industry. As a broker and ex-business owner in the manufacturing industry, he's the perfect person to advise and guide you through making your business more attractive to buyers. KEY TAKEAWAYS The key factors that determine the value of a manufacturing business are people, productivity, execution, and cashflow. Much like any other business, potential buyers will want to see proof of healthy and sustainable cash flow. They will also want to see that the supply chain you're a part of works and if you control your own product lines. It can take at least 3 years to correctly prepare your business for sale, even from the day you buy or start the company, you should be working out your exit strategy. If you run your business in a way where it can operate without you, then you're on the right path to preparing your business for sale. There are personal expenses for business owners that get wrapped up in the company books. These minor expenses should be worked out of our books because when your business is being appraised they want the true business expenses, they want to see how it will look when they run it and not have to work out what it looks like without you. The number one mistake business owners have when selling their business is understanding how their business is valued. Top line revenue is not the main driver and when it comes to your specific IP, 99% of the time is not the reason someone wants to buy you. If you're looking at building the value of your business for the next 3 to 5 years, look at the suppliers you have, are they the right suppliers or are there better ones out there. You need to foster those relationships with regular lines of communication and even paying a day early will put you top of their list of people they like to work with. SDE = Seller's Discretionary Earnings. EBITDA = Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization. BEST MOMENTS ‘It was an opportunity to put a lifetime's worth of experience in manufacturing to work for others' ‘The outcome of that was a 95% reduction in demand from our largest customer, so we had to pivot' ‘We leveraged relationships with the right people to ensure we had advocates for our business' ‘You don't sell a business and get a check the next week' ‘Only 30% of businesses successfully transfer for the 1st generation to the next' EPISODE RESOURCES https://www.fbb.com/ chris@fbb.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/christopherfagnant/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Today we're going to be talking about information overload. How do we prevent information overload for business decision makers and how do we overcome those problems when they do occur? To answer this, Nana is joined on Build Value By Choice by Jonathan McPike, co-founder of Haven, a one-stop-shop app for small businesses. KEY TAKEAWAYS Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the foundation of their communities. When a small business fails, the ripple effects hurt a lot of people. Haven is about supporting the small businesses that support all of us. Software is designed with large organizations in mind, and that creates a lot of headaches for small businesses. Co-Founders Luke Mongin and Jonathan McPike believed that small businesses deserved tools that were right-sized for them. Whatever information we need, we can get. But we forget that not all information is equally as important. So when we're looking at information to make decisions, we're often overloaded with information. Instead we need the relevant information available in one simple easy to use place. By enabling systems to communicate and share information, businesses can eliminate manual tasks and allow data that would need to be manually input several times to be shared between systems. BEST MOMENTS‘A lot of times if you're a small business, you might be using software designed for larger companies'‘You need tools that are the right size for the job'‘You want all those core tools in one place and you want them speaking to each other'‘Most normal users will say this is too complicated and hard to use' EPISODE RESOURCES https://www.withhaven.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanmcpike/ VALUABLE RESOURCESProductize ebookLeave your comments on the show's Facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/BuildvaluebychoiceGet your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuationPodcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Brett Quinn and Brian Marshall, Co-Founders of Strategy X SaaS platform join Nana today on Build Value By Choice to discuss the topic of building your dream team and changing human behavior with Strategy X. Listen in to find out how this platform can help businesses create high performance teams and create growth and alignment in their organizations. KEY TAKEAWAYS Strategy X is a global Software as a Service (SaaS) platform designed to help individuals, leaders, or businesses consistently achieve desired outcomes or results. This platform provides tools, methodologies, and resources to support strategic planning, goal setting, performance tracking, and execution of strategies. It aims to streamline and optimize the process of achieving desired outcomes across various industries and sectors. The big firms can afford expensive management consultants that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but with Strategy X you as a smaller business can help level the playing field. Processes typically fail between events, not at the start or at the end. With Strategy X they use AI and automation to help ensure that these vital steps don't fail halfway through. Your entire strategy on the Strategy X platform is all on one page, as is all of the data used to measure and monitor that strategy. This allows you to use that real time data to make faster and better decisions in a much easier and more efficient way. When communication is spread over multiple platforms, it becomes difficult and time consuming to collate all that information together and make an informed decision. Strategy X allows you to keep all your communications in one place which streamlines the whole process. Nicky Billou, The Millionaire Maker, is an acclaimed author of 8 best-selling books, including Finish Line Thinking: How to Think and Win Like a Champion, and The Thought Leader's Journey: A Fable of Life. Nicky is also the host of The Thought Leader Revolution, the world's top podcast for thought leadership, featuring esteemed guests like Dr. Ken Blanchard, John Maxwell, and Jack Canfield. He joins Nana today on Build Value By Choice to discuss strategies and techniques to achieve success in business and personal branding. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nobody wants to be sold to, Nicky prefers to teach people to put others first so that you're not trying to sell to them, you're trying to show how you can serve them. Then when you've shown your value and that you really want to help them, that's when people want to buy. An expert is someone who knows something while a thought leader is someone who is known for knowing something, and is therefore more valuable. Think of it like an expert being the cover band of the thought leader's original band. Charge what you're worth. When you undercharge, you're not properly serving the client. When you pay more for something you expect more from it, when you pay less they expect less from it. If you don't get what you should get then you don't give what you should give. All good business people have had good coaching and mentorship, too many people think they can do it alone even though they lack the skills and base knowledge to do the task at hand. It's investing in personal development. Are you tired of the traditional networking methods that fail to bring real value to your business? In this episode, Nana interviews the owner of a business to business networking group that operates on an invitational basis. Discover how this unique approach to networking leads to predictable results from word of mouth marketing and real business growth. Clay Hicks is an entrepreneur with a portfolio of 5 different companies, including H7 Network and he is on the podcast today. KEY TAKEAWAYS H7 Network is a networking hub for the following values and principles, these are: Connect - Serve - Ask - Influence - Focus - Champion - and Win-Win. H7 network is an invitation only group to prevent those who just want to sell to the room from joining. Clay wants to build a community of people who really want to work with each other and grow each other's businesses. The key to transforming your business is not just having customers, it's the relationships you build with those customers, with your staff, with your team, with your prospects. Having people know that you're reliable, trustworthy, and good to work with is more valuable than any marketing strategy you can have. Connect, serve, and ask is the philosophy behind how Clay builds relationships with people in one on one business meetings. Simply put it's building a relationship, then giving them something they need, then asking them for something that you need. The connection part is the most important and that's why it comes first. The real success in networking is becoming a champion for other people and them being a champion for you. It's about finding someone who is intentionally active in networking your skills to other people, instead of waiting for those opportunities to arise. BEST MOMENTS ‘We're looking for a very strong community of professionals who want to grow their businesses, who also want to work with other people' ‘We had over 1000 visitors to our community all through word-of-mouth, not a single dollar spent on marketing' ‘I keep smarter people around me than myself' ‘It's not just who you know, it's how you know them' EPISODE RESOURCES Clay Hicks - CEO and Founder - H7 Network | LinkedIn clayton@h7network.com H7 Network VALUABLE RESOURCES Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. This week host Nana Bonsu will be exploring technology procurement and vendor selection from an inspirational perspective with today's guest Gregory Klein-Herzel. We're going to hear his story, some of the key strategies he has for business success, and unlock some of the secrets that help contribute to the financial performance of companies through smart information technology procurement and vendor selection. KEY TAKEAWAYS Greg is always in the process of vetting technology companies to create approved vendor lists. Because of this when a client needs help being matched to the right resources, 75% of the process is already done. You need an expert in each line of technology these days, you need someone who knows that technological language. Unfortunately there are more bad than good around and you need to know who to trust, that's where Greg comes in. The fees involved for tech companies being connected with clients through Greg all pay the same amount, this means that there is no preferential treatment for a bigger cheque. Businesses and vendors really are connectedfor the right reasons, not on a financial basis. The top five factors businesses should consider when choosing a technology vendor are your own business operations and your ability to implement changes. Integrating those technologies into your already existing systems. Your budget. The personality of the company you are hiring. And finally the ethics of your business and the vendors. Red flags to look out for when looking for a technology vendor are when they don't know their own limitations, they're just saying yes to everything you ask. Remember technology is only as good as the people implementing it, the people behind the sales people can be a red flag if they're not the right people with the wrong ethics. BEST MOMENTS ‘I'm an avid believer that a business and individual can be defined by the people they're surrounded with' ‘We play matchmaker with companies and technology vendors and see who fits together best' ‘One thing I've learned on this journey is that every business is unique' ‘We're trying to make it a win-win for everyone' ‘Technology is an art, not an exact science. Today Nana is joined by Wayne Mullins, founder of Ugly Mug Marketing, creator of the Freelance Accelerator, and author of Full Circle Marketing. You're going to hear his story and learn some key strategies for success. Listen in to find out how to unlock the secrets of how to take your business to the next level using some of his powerful marketing strategies. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ugly Mug Marketing, stems from the belief that the results should never be compromised - not even for the sake of "good" design. They would rather an "ugly" design that delivers results, than a "beautiful" design that doesn't. The day they begin focusing on winning awards, instead of delivering results for clients, is the day their business has lost its way. One of the most impactful things Wayne has done in business is get the right people in place. This is so vital for small businesses because your limited staff needs to have a big impact. As a father of 4, being there to see his kids grow up is very important to him. Clients and business opportunities will come and go, so Wayne has had to learn to say no to good people and good opportunities sometimes. Wayne believes that some external motivation only lasts for a moment, he tries to focus on the things within that motivate him, because those things will be constant and stay with him forever. To Wayne success is when he and his team get better and better every day, it's not set in profits or milestones. He wants people to get better every day and be held accountable to one another. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you want to know how I scaled my businesses so quickly, the answer is creative marketing' ‘I'd rather have an ad that's ugly and effective, over one that's beautiful but isn't' ‘When we look for external motivations, we will always need that crutch' EPISODE RESOURCES uglymugmarketing.com Ugly Mug Marketing | Alexandria LA VALUABLE RESOURCES Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Mark has over 30 years experience, is a Partner at B2B CFO and provides strategic guidance to small business owners to help them overcome the financial challenges they face. KEY TAKEAWAYS Most people get into business because they have a passion and have value they can add for their customers, they don't get into business to do administration. Mark's first piece of advice is to think through what you want and what information you need from your financial situation for your business to operate. Mark's second piece of advice is to organize your books and records in a way that provides you the information you now know you need and makes it easily accessible. Things move fast for small business owners and they have to wear a lot of hats and make a lot of decisions so they need good information to be able to make those decisions. All of Mark's clients have at least a 13 week forecast of rolling cash flow. He chose 13 weeks because you're always looking one quarter ahead. This allows you to react to potential problems ahead of time. A lot of business owners don't plan correctly for their transition or sale, this leads them to getting less than they may have expected. If you set up your business in a way that is not overly dependent on one person through systems and processes you will be able to achieve a better sales result. BEST MOMENTS ‘Begin with the end in mind' ‘Most business owners don't look ahead to what information they will need' ‘It's rewarding in the small business environment because you can watch the business owner become more successful' EPISODE RESOURCES Website: b2bcfo.com/mark-crowley/ LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/markcrowleycfo Email: MarkCrowley@b2bcfo.com VALUABLE RESOURCES Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Today on Build Value By Choice we are joined by former NFL Player Rick Elmore. We're going to discuss his journey from the NFL to working in sales in corporate America to founding his first company, Simply Noted, a software platform for building stronger relationships between businesses and their customers using handwritten notes at scale. KEY TAKEAWAYS Simply Noted is a platform that makes sending 1,000s real pen written notes as quick and easy as sending just 1. Rick's goal is to make it easier for businesses to scale their personal touch. Growing up, Rick always remembered hand written notes and how they added more meaning than just the words written on them. When he was in college studying marketing, a comment from his teacher on the small margins in the industry sparked a connection in his brain. This is when he decided on his future career path. In sales you simply have to be extroverted, if you're not naturally an extrovert then you have to learn to be one. Simply Noted started out being financed by credit cards to where it is now making multi-millions of dollars. Rick obsessed over the details in the build up to launch so that when he did take his shot, he knew he wouldn't miss. Today on the show Nana is joined by Russ Hawkins, the President and CEO of the leading data technology company, Agilence. Russ has spent over 35-years in the tech industry, helping established organizations and small start-ups reach their full potential by driving change from the "inside." He's here to give you leadership advice in the Tech Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) field. KEY TAKEAWAYS One of the most important things you need to have when it comes to leadership in technology is a goal or series of goals. These can be long or short term but they're needed because you can't move in the right direction if you don't know where you want to go. A strategy business owners can use to avoid getting stuck in the day to day operations of their company is to completely understand those day to day operations to the point where you can hire the best people for the job and then stay out of their way. Processes and procedures are so important but it's also vital to understand how those processes and procedures interact with each other. That allows for the best autonomy for your departments and all you have to do is step back and oversee. On an ongoing basis your business should be investing in the technologies that allow your business to run and grow. The main thing is keeping the lights on then you have to look at if the investment is going to give you a return or avoid a problem. Every manager needs to have a plan for if they win the lottery and leave the business. Will the business be able to continue to function without you? A good leader develops employees and gives them the right tools and infrastructure to do so. When people are trusted and supported they grow and achieve. BEST MOMENTS ‘Without meeting your short term goals, it's impossible to achieve your long term goals' ‘You have to make sure your finances support what you're trying to achieve' ‘If you're only relying on yourself then you only have a team of one to draw experience from' ‘As a leader you need to direct the team in the right direction and tell them what we want to achieve together' EPISODE RESOURCES Agilence rhawkins@agilenceinc.com VALUABLE RESOURCES Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Relationship Building & Networking is a key strategy for acquiring customers and strategic partnerships. It can be done in person or virtual. In the modern day of pandemics and globalization, virtual networking mastery and participation is a must for any business owner. One platform that helps with business networking is LinkedIn. In this episode, Daniel Alfon joins us from Israel to share how to discuss what business owners need to know to leverage their LinkedIn presence to get leads and strategic partnerships. KEY TAKEAWAYS Every second 3 people sign up to LinkedIn, adding to its almost 900 million strong user base. Using it as a networking tool is almost essential in today's world to gain referrals. LinkedIn is also one of the best business search tools out there if you need to identify someone in the right position within a company to start a conversation with. You can reach out without asking anything. Daniel's four tips for business owners using Linkedin are: 1. Optimize your LinkedIn presence. Look at your profile and ask yourself who you want to attract, what action would you like them to take when they see you, and are you making it as easy as possible for them to understand why you are part of the solution. 2. Optimize your network. Do you want to be the most connected or the best connected? You need to choose quantity or quality, they are mutually exclusive. 3. How do you want to share content on LinkedIn? Are you sharing and repurposing your content for your audience? For example if you share a podcast, don't tell people the answer they will find in there, but give them a question that encourages them to listen to find out the answer. 4. Lead generation. That is what you are there to do, get connecting and networking with people you want to work with. Today we are going to be talking about how you can optimize your business for growth and also for scale using what is called a lean out method. Joining Nana on Build Value By Choice is the inventor of this lean out method process and methodology, Crista Grasso. Crista is an international lean and agile business consultant to Fortune 50 multi billion dollar businesses and is host of the Lean Out Your Business Podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS The lean out method is a four step framework that's really all about making sure that everything you do in your business is aligned back to that big, bold vision that you have and where you really wanna take things. Set CONTEXT so you know where you are going and why it is important. Gain CLARITY on the right things to be doing right now in your business. Make a COMMITMENT to do whatever it takes to achieve your big bold vision. Practice KAIZEN and continuously reflect and improve in order to grow. Kaizen is a concept referring to business activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. Kaizen also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organizational boundaries into the supply chain. We live in a more is more culture in a lot of ways when it comes to business. Crista thinks that when you truly want to scale quickly and sustainably, it's all about finding those few things that are working that you're 100% passionate about that provide the most possible value to your clients in going all in on those. BEST MOMENTS ‘How come I'm getting these other businesses such incredible results and meanwhile I'm struggling so much in my own business.' ‘The principles of lean, of maximizing value and minimizing waste' ‘Everything has a place and everything is in its place' ‘People confuse growth and scale a lot. In today's podcast, we are going to be talking with a distinguished gentleman about how to modernize your marketing with direct mail marketing software called Postalytics. Our guest today is Dennis Kelly. Dennis Kelly is the CEO of Postalytics, a fast-growing direct mail automation software company that helps marketers do more in less time with streamlined production integration into the marketing tech stack and real-time direct mail campaign tactic. KEY TAKEAWAYS Business people receive over 120 emails per day. The average Gmail account contains over 8,000 messages. Postalytics helps you stand out by delivering personalized messages directly into the hands of your audience to form a deeper impression than email alone. Automated direct mail marketing is radically shaking up the old, tradition-bound world of direct mail marketing. It uses new technology to enable direct mail to be used in conjunction with, and just as easily as, digital marketing channels like email. The number one concern of marketers is seeing a decline in their email open rates. Number two is that they're seeing a rise in their cost of digital marketing. Then number three, there's a lot of uncertainty around the privacy issues associated with email and digital marketing. If you make direct mail marketing very personalized, easy to use and a part of the technology that most businesses are now investing in to control their marketing, whether it's CRM or a marketing automation tool, then all of a sudden direct mail's a very viable channel. BEST MOMENTS ‘When some folks are getting success, everybody piles in and then spends, and spends' ‘It was very hard to have your message stand out or be distinguished' ‘Doing a startup is a marathon, but it feels like a marathon made up of a bunch of sprints that are all tied together' EPISODE RESOURCES Postalytics Dennis Kelly - CEO - Postalytics | LinkedIn Postalytics | LinkedIn VALUABLE RESOURCES Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Today we are going to be talking about human capital and to do that, Nana is joined by an expert to help us discuss this topic. Our guest today is Dan Steiner, an award-winning, top performing sales professional having sold delivery and recruitment services and technology to Fortune 1000 companies. After a 17 year career working for best in class technology firms, as well as 10 years selling to human resources and staffing and recruiting firms, he saw an opportunity to start his own recruiting firm to leverage his considerable network to align with candidates with the next great opportunity. KEY TAKEAWAYS CCR Search is an executive recruiting firm primarily focusing on sales, marketing, finance, accounting and construction. Because of his background in sales, Dan knows how to spot really high performing sales executives and finds a lot of passion in helping individuals go from an organization to another to advance their career. Ultimately why Dan started this is not only the joys of helping individuals and putting everybody together, but recruiting is a lot of fun. You get to do sales, you get to do sourcing and finding great people. You get to have constant conversations and in this virtual world that we're all living in, it's really nice to meet all types of people all across the country from all different backgrounds. When it comes to recruiting, first off start with data so you know exactly what the market actually looks like. Then you need to craft information based off of that search. From there, you're also going to leverage technology. Where can I automate, what tools can I use? When looking to fill 10 positions and the pool of available workers is 5000, once you factor in all the things you're looking for and that they're looking for, you realize that the pool actually needs to be closer to 20,000. That's one of the reasons why it's so hard to fill positions. BEST MOMENTS ‘I don't pretend to be a lifelong recruiter. I don't have a recruiting background. Today's guest, Greg Goshorn has worked with small businesses all the way up to Fortune 500 companies sharing his expertise in digital marketing with them. Greg specializes in reputation and video marketing, conversion and business consulting. He joins Nana this week on Build Value By Choice to talk about retargeting. KEY TAKEAWAYS Retargeting is part of Web traffic. You may know it as remarketing. This is essentially where you will see ads for products you have looked at or thought about purchasing before. Not everyone is at the stage of being ready to buy a product when they visit your website. So with retargeting you can remind them later on down the line when they might be in a position to buy. 96% of people leave your website without buying or signing up to your newsletter. There are three categories of people who will visit your website. You can target each type with ads that appeal to their needs. The three categories are someone who is looking for a deal, someone who is looking for a reputable company, and someone looking for something specific. BEST MOMENTS ‘Smart companies stay top of mind' 'You're getting people to your site but letting them walk away' 'Mix up your ads so you find what their needs are' EPISODE RESOURCES mappingyourmarketing.com mappingyourmarketing.com/websitetrafficreport ** Get more customers with display ad traffic ** VALUABLE RESOURCES Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Sometimes things are just out of your hands, one of those things we can't control is time. Today we're going to be talking about the issue of timing and how it affects the likelihood of success and the impact it has on the ability for you to be successful. Nana is joined on Build Value By Choice by guest Mark Pierce, co-founder of Cloud Peak Law Group to discuss this topic and more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mark believes timing is one of the critical and most essential points of a business. If you don't have the right timing then you won't have much of a chance of success. For example Tesla, they did not have a unique idea but they came around at the exact right time for that idea to work. The best way to get your timing right is to know the industry. The more experience you have in a marketplace the better you can understand how that market will change in the future and you can plan for that change. The size of windows vary by industries, some may be months and some may be multiple years. You can watch new industries grow before they boom so you can get in at the right time, but you need to already have those contacts in place beforehand. You need to have done your research on the technologies involved and been to the conferences. Get involved and you will see opportunities as they come up. If you're not involved then you'll miss out on them. Get involved in your community, local politics, whatever it is that is going on around you. BEST MOMENTS ‘They teach you the person who gets there first with the most will win' ‘The harder you try, the further you can fall behind' ‘You'll see the time coming if you've been paying attention' ‘It's like playing cards, you should go slowly and get a feel for the table' EPISODE RESOURCES WyomingLLCAttorney.com Outliers: The Story of Success VALUABLE RESOURCES Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. This week we are going to be talking about workplace culture and culture in general, to do that Nana is joined by a leader in this cultural movement. His name is Michael Sonbert, who turned his passion for educational reform into a global call to action for corporate leadership transformation. Michael is a bestselling author, speaker, and the founder and CEO of Skyrocket Education and Rebel Culture. KEY TAKEAWAYS Michael was working in education for years in some of the toughest neighborhoods in all the United States in neighborhoods where trauma and drugs and violence were high where funding and infrastructure were low. He started to notice that there were schools that were just a block away from each other that had radically different cultures. The narrative was that you can't have a great school here, but there were places where there were great schools in some of the most underserved zip codes in our whole country. He started to wonder why, what's different in this place versus that place? It's the same exact scenario, and Michael saw that there were leaders who were being really rebellious in the way they operated there. Michael started to look into the corporate world as well and saw that so many of the same trends were occurring where there were leaders who weren't open to feedback, who didn't define really clear expectations for their teams. They didn't set a vision and values, or if they did, nobody embodied them. The best athletes in the world have coaches. Everybody who's great at anything has or has ever been great at anything has had a coach at some point. Michaels five principles of leadership are 1. Mindset. 2. Systems. 3. Communication. 4. Execution. 5. Accountability. Today's topic is going to be about financial planning, and our guest today is John Stoj, whose career in finance began on Wall Street nearly 25 years ago. He learned that the financial services industry is full of people interested in taking advantage of their clients. He watched the financial industry meltdown in 2008 and came to realization that working for the best interest of his customers is worth every penny of his fees. KEY TAKEAWAYS After it became apparent to John that the Wall Street that he knew and loved wasn't as lovable as he first thought, he just wanted to do a complete 180 and decided to open a food business. His business was in food manufacturing because he knew the high failure rate of restaurants. He might still be doing this today if it wasn't for the birth of his son meaning he had to ditch the late nights working. One of the most important things when building a business and eventually preparing to sell it is keeping a book of business that exists even after you walk out the door. It's the paperwork and the proof of cash flow, showing your contracts and clients, proving to buyers that you are worth buying. The second thing that John has learned and would recommend to you is to document everything. Make everything a process and record those processes. That way anyone can continue to use those processes to create the same quality output. BEST MOMENTS ‘What's the instruction book to run the company? And so if you provide that to them, they're going to be a heck of a lot more comfortable' ‘It's not just financial documentation that should be complete, but also the systems documentation for your business processes' ‘There's always pressures on your price' EPISODE RESOURCES John Stoj VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to the podcast and send a screenshot to info@infhorizons.com to be in with the chance of winning some gifts and prizes Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Today Nana is joined on the podcast by Diana Mouring of DS Labs to discuss how to protect your business from Cyber crime. DS Labs sells a Cyber Security Solution called n@d@r, and it is the world's first autonomous Cyber Security hardware solution for small to mid-sized businesses with 100% endpoint security that uses machine learning to stop threats faster. KEY TAKEAWAYS The more internet devices we add to our businesses, the more vulnerabilities we add to our networks, and unfortunately for us, that means more things we have to protect. n@d@r is not software but a hardware solution that sits rightbehind your firewall. What that means is 100% of your internet traffic comes and goes through the device, so it's able to watch everything that is going on and looks for indicators of compromise and indicators of attack so that it can autonomously stop those things from happening within your business. n@d@r stands for Network Anomaly Detection and Response. Last year there was a big Las Vegas casino that was hacked through the heating system on their aquarium. They were able to get onto their wifi, and from there it was an internal attack, most devices don't look for that type of attack. BEST MOMENTS ‘The problem is that hackers get smarter by the day. Everet is on Build Value By Choice to discuss the misalignment of people and business strategy that causes major problems within businesses of all sizes. Everet is an expert in building a great business culture that allows employees to thrive and enjoy their work for long lasting careers. Hiring someone new is always a risk, you don't see who they are fully until they're on the job. Most companies have to go to war with the talent they have right now with the current difficulties in hiring quality employees. If you can fit your existing employees into the roles you need done then that allows you to be as efficient as you can be. Some of the signs that your team may not be correctly aligned are productivity, missed deadlines, sub par products or services, and conflict and frustration in the workplace. Remember that under delegating is just as dangerous and over delegating. BEST MOMENTS‘I stay out of the way until I need to jump in and help out' ‘If you do that right on the front end then the problems in the downstream will be fewer'‘We work better when we understand our teammates' EPISODE RESOURCES linkedin.com/in/iriconsultingIRI CONSULTING LLC VALUABLE RESOURCESSubscribe to the podcast and send a screenshot to info@infhorizons.com to be in with the chance of winning some gifts and prizesProductize ebookLeave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/BuildvaluebychoiceGet your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuationPodcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Do you want to get quality business referrals without even having to ask? This seems too good to be true, but today's guest Stacey Brown Randall says she has cracked the code. Stacey joins Nana on Build Value By Choice to talk about how you can grow your business through referrals and how you can get them without having to ask. KEY TAKEAWAYS In her first year of business, Stacey gained 112 referrals without having to ask for them. You can't just assume that you can build your business and the customers will come. Referrals are one of the best ways to bring in new business and referrals that you don't need to work for are the most time efficient form of winning work. Every business is capable of receiving referrals and there are lots of strategies out there, depending on the industry that you're in. Stacey's strategy gets the best results typically in professional services. The number one thing people have to do is know who their referral sources are. It'sthe starting point for every business owner. Identify their referral sources, and that means you need to sit down and actually figure out where your clients and your prospects are coming from? Did they come through a Facebook ad? Did they come from a networking event or were they referred to you by someone else? Remember to nurture your referral sources so that they continue to provide referrals to you in the future and stay a consistent source of work. BEST MOMENTS‘I've been doing this almost 10 years now, and over time I've just gotten better and better'‘I got 112 referrals and my first year in business and I didn't ask for them'‘Not every prospect becomes a client but the people who referred those clients are prospects to you' EPISODE RESOURCES Stacey Brown Randall VALUABLE RESOURCESSubscribe to the podcast and send a screenshot to info@infhorizons.com to be in with the chance of winning some gifts and prizesInfinite Horizons Free WebinarProductize ebookLeave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/BuildvaluebychoiceGet your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuationPodcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. ABOUT THE GUEST “I set out to crack the code on generating referrals WITHOUT asking. And crack it I did! When I started my next entrepreneurial venture, I applied my referral strategy and had crazy success. In my first year as a business coach, I generated 112 referrals that I did not ask for. Since then, year over year, I have been able to generate triple digit referrals. When demand for my coaching services went up, supply went down, and my clients noticed. It was harder to get on my schedule, and they wanted to know why. So, I started teaching them my referral plan and they started having the same success as well. In some cases, I have better success than me.” PODCAST DESCRIPTIONHosted by Nana Bonsu of Infinite Horizons, this show aims to serve small business owners who want to grow their businesses while reducing their own personal involvement. Today we're talking about systems on Build Value By Choice with Nana and his guest Shanice Miller. Shanice is a business productivity consultant, specializing in project management, who helps clients ranging from small startups to multi-million dollar businesses save hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. KEY TAKEAWAYS Shanice originally started as an educational consultant and her own experience is what inspired her to start helping and project managing and working with businesses to do that at the multimillion-dollar level. When Shanice listed her business on the online marketplace, it made her realize that her business wasn't set up with the correct systems in place to get the amount that Shanice knew it was worth. It ended up selling for a five-figure profit, but she knew I could have gotten six figures after looking at other businesses. Communication and keeping the information in your head are the two biggest mistakes Shanice sees. keep it all in their head. Instead of documenting, listing out the tasks that they need to do, putting it on paper, and having it streamlined so that everyone knows what everyone's doing at the time without having to send an email or ask the other person, they try to keep the information in their heads. When it comes to hiring, having your business processes in place is what separates small businesses from the ones that will turn over millions of dollars. If you already know what you need in terms of training, personnel, and their targets, then you'll have massively streamlined your hiring and training process. One simple thing you can do is to centralize your administration and project management tools into one place instead of having one thing on Slack and another on Google Docs etc. BEST MOMENTS ‘Freedom is the highest thing we can aspire to' ‘You're trying to grow your business, not thinking about systemizing it' ‘The main challenge is the time factor' ‘She freed up 20 hours of her time by delegating' FREE OFFER If you're up for it, Shanice would love to offer your listeners something that complements the contents of her interview. Your listeners may be feeling overwhelmed or exhausted and want to free up their time in order to scale their business and have more flexibility and freedom in their schedule. Today's guest Orrin Lieuwen is a mindset guide who helps frustrated and overwhelmed entrepreneurs and business owners understand how they create their beliefs and emotions and how to change them to make better results. Tune into Build Value By Choice as Nana and Orrin discuss the gains you can make in your business by investing in personal development. KEY TAKEAWAYS A business is made of people, if you want to improve the business then you should work on improving the people. Personal development is the root that allows businesses to grow inside and out. Your self-concept is essentially how you think about yourself, this is made up of all the different self-beliefs you hold. This could be around a fear of failure or a lack of productivity. By changing how we think about ourselves, it removes the mental blocks that stand in our way. You can't fix what you don't know, so if you never delve into what you believe about yourself, you'll never be able to change and get a better outcome. When you're stressed and overwhelmed, try to be intentional and not get lost in your feelings. Be intelligent about your feelings and emotions and learn what causes them and how to deal with them. If you want to make incremental changes, change your behaviours. If you want to make a quantum change, change your paradigms, and the way you're looking at things. BEST MOMENTS ‘So much of the work is done in the subconscious' ‘Outsource your thinking so I can help you improve your work' ‘Values are your desires. How are you going to pursue them outside your business' EPISODE RESOURCES Subscribe to the podcast and send a screenshot to info@infhorizons.com to be in with the chance of winning some gifts and prizes Infinite Horizons Free Webinar Productize ebook Orrin Lieuwen on LinkedIn https://lionheartleadership.ca/ https://lionheartleadership.ca/webinar VALUABLE RESOURCES Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Alicia Butler Pierre is the founder and CEO of Equilibria, Inc., a 17-year-old operations management firm which specializes in increasing bandwidth for fast-growing organizations via business infrastructure. Combined, her content has over three-quarters of a million views across various online platforms. Alicia hosts the weekly Business Infrastructure: Curing Back Office Blues podcast. She's also the author of the 2x Amazon bestseller, an adjunct instructor at Purdue University. A chemical engineer turned entrepreneur, Alicia's advised, designed, and optimized processes for organizations including Coca-Cola, Shell, The Home Depot, and The Library of Congress. She's on the show this week to tell you about scaling your own business infrastructure. KEY TAKEAWAYS Processes and optimizing processes is what helps businesses scale and when businesses scale they're able to maximize value in their business. If you correctly implement processes then the outcome will always be the same regardless of who is running them. Business infrastructure is a system for linking your people, your processes, and your tools and or technologies together. Once they are linked together you can build a foundation that will allow you to scale in a repeatable, sustainable, and profitable way. Nothing in business infrastructure is done in isolation, when one element changes then you have to understand its impact on the other links in the chain. Everything within your business is interconnected and changes will have a knock on effect. Similar tasks should be grouped together into different departments, and those departments should be filled with the right people to fulfill those tasks. Once we know the tasks, the department, and the people, then we know the process that needs to take place. You get consistent customer experience, which makes the customer happy, which makes them more likely to buy from you again and again, it makes them more likely to recommend you to someone else, which increases profits and reduces your costs. BEST MOMENTS ‘You want to reduce the variation' ‘It's all about process, it's about having a standard way to make a product' ‘Is this contributing to the valuable experience my customer has come to expect from me?' He has expanded his business tenfold and grown to become one of the 500 fastest growing companies in the US over the last five years, and has sold more than 50 million in product globally. The company started in the nonsurgical hair replacement niche supplying a solution to individuals who suffered from hair loss, whether it be through hereditary means or health issues, such as cancer and they were going through chemotherapy. Over the years they have developed not only their own product line further but have been able to expand their cosmetic offerings to a wider range of different categories such as body care and skin care. Ryan has a board which is involved with multiple people as well as operational consultants, digital consultants and a good solid advisory team that are helping navigate the waters in times where there is uncertainty. When it comes to scaling, every month Harry would look at their profitability and choose to just reinvest some of that back into what the company needed. Some months you're going to have a higher revenue than others, but in those months where you have the higher revenue, you just put a bit more away and then that starts to compound and that allows you to do the bigger things. Today's guest, Greg Goshorn has worked with small businesses all the way up to Fortune 500 companies sharing his expertise in digital marketing with them. Greg specializes in reputation and video marketing, conversion and business consulting. He joins Nana this week on Build Value By Choice to tell you the things you need to know about online reviews and video marketing. KEY TAKEAWAYS The key reason for using video in your marketing strategy is for its SEO value. People want to consume video content over any other form such as text or images. It also gives you the ability to humanize our sales arm and get your brand's values across to your potential customers. Having customer reviews of your products or services can really help people decide if they want to buy from you or not. 70% of the buyer's journey happens before you ever even speak to the customer, so having other customers speak for you is a huge leg up. To improve a company's reputation online you have to start with Google. Get a Google Business profile, this can help you ask for reviews and gives you that detailed box on Google's search results. It may seem counterintuitive, but negative reviews can be an opportunity. Everyone will see how you handle issues they may have and how you'll handle them in future. Reviews are a part of search engine algorithms. The better your reviews the more likely you are to show up for people making related searches. BEST MOMENTS‘98% of people look at reviews when trying to decide whether to buy a product or service' ‘Get going! Don't be afraid to fail forward' ‘The playing field is pretty even'‘SEO can be a guessing game' EPISODE RESOURCES Greg on LinkedInmappingyourmarketing.com Productize ebookVALUABLE RESOURCESLeave your comments on the show's Facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/BuildvaluebychoiceGet your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuationPodcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Rhett is the owner and CEO of Historic Prints, an eCommerce company located in Portland Oregon. He joins Nana today on Build Value by Choice to discuss the power of disconnection and whether your smartphone has become a dumb phone, based on an article recently published in the Guardian. KEY TAKEAWAYS You can save your spot for the Infinite Horizons webinar, 3 Strategies to supercharge the value of your business today without feeling trapped or succumbing to market changes. Thursday September 22nd @ 12:00 PM EST, 9:00 AM PST. The link is in the show notes below. In this webinar, Nana Bonsu will reveal three secrets to growing a successful business that is not reliant on the owner. He will show you how to grow the value of your business without sacrificing time or enjoyment. Historic Prints specializes in historical map and photo reproductions from throughout the world and antiquity that create a unique link between past and present. This merges Rhett's two passions of art and history. All technologies have pros and cons. For Rhett, smartphones became more of a con when the usefulness was outweighed by how distracting it is. When your phone is taking time away from your children, is it really worth the pros anymore? Rhett went to his phone store and asked for the dumbest phone they had. It was a throwback to the 2000s with the flip-up screen and everything. It made him feel so free, ditching his iPhone for something simpler. Rhett has been smartphone free for three years now, except for using it for two-step authentication. If you don't want to go fully smartphone free, be considerate of what apps you put on your phone. Is it just a distraction? Or does it actually have a use that doesn't outweigh its distraction level? Terry Tucker is the founder of Motivational Check. He's here to share his unique and positive bent regarding the concepts of mindset and self-improvement. As a former NCAA Division I basketball player, SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator, and cancer warrior for the past ten years, he focuses on the healthy aspects of being sick by concentrating on his 4 Truths to help others lead their uncommon and extraordinary life. KEY TAKEAWAYS As a hostage negotiator, Terry learned the value of trust in any relationship and that listening isn't just about hearing what's being said, it's about actually understanding what is being said. As business people we set goals for our business, but we don't set personal values. When you can tie your goals to your personal values then the fact you believe it with all your heart will actually make those goals easier to achieve. Terry's 4 Truths to help others lead their uncommon and extraordinary life are: 1. Controlling your mind, so it doesn't control you. 2. Embracing the pain and difficulty and using it to make you a stronger and more determined individual. 3. Understanding that what you leave behind is what you weave in the hearts of other people. 4. Remembering that as long as you don't quit, you can never be defeated. 60 or 70 thousand thoughts cross our minds every day. Every time you see a negative thought go by, stop and challenge that thought. When you're stopping those negative thoughts, your brain will eventually stop sending them. BEST MOMENTS ‘Trust, learning, and emotion' ‘You want to have core values and beliefs that you don't compromise' ‘Take the cold bath bravely. Make yourself do unpleasant things so as to gain the upper hand of your soul' ‘Cancer can take all my physical facilities, but it can't take my heart, my mind, or my soul' EPISODE RESOURCES https://bit.ly/productizeebook1 https://www.motivationalcheck.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/terry-tucker-9b5605179/ https://www.sustainableexcellencemembership.com/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Get a 5-phase checklist to help scale your business. https://bit.ly/Business-ScaleUp-Checklist Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it. Vinay Raman is the CEO of CAARMO and helps businesses and employees unlock their hidden potential, maximize opportunities, and risks to mitigate through Performance Intelligence software tools. He joins Nana this week on Build Value By Choice to talk about using data-driven emotional graphs to build and scale business processes. KEY TAKEAWAYS CAARMO helps businesses see the data that is already in the company and how the balance is constantly shifting. When you know where the balance is heading then you can adapt to those coming changes. You need to have a more holistic view of all the information around decision making in business. The more information you have then the better informed your choices are. There is a concept in the stock market called Bollinger Bands, these are envelopes plotted at a standard deviation level above and below a simple moving average of the price. Because the distance of the bands is based on standard deviation, they adjust to volatility swings in the underlying price. Bollinger Bands use 2 parameters, Period and Standard Deviations. You want to have a stable process before you try and improve it. Emotions matter so much, it's of paramount importance. If someone isn't happy then they're not going to do their best work for you. You can use data to decide how you can best support your employees to get the best out of them. BEST MOMENTS ‘You get two people with the same information but coming to two different conclusions' ‘If the process is working without lots of noise, then you know it's a good process' ‘If you want someone to buy into your company you need to show them the evidence that you can make them a superstar' EPISODE RESOURCES https://bit.ly/productizeebook1 https://www.linkedin.com/in/vraman/ https://www.caarmo.com/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Leave your comments on the show's facebook community page: https://www.facebook.com/Buildvaluebychoice Get your free valuation here: https://bit.ly/get-free-valuation Get a 5-phase checklist to help scale your business. https://bit.ly/Business-ScaleUp-Checklist Podcast website: https://infhorizons.com/podcast/ Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and share it.
