In this episode, we provide an overview of AWS Step Functions and dive deep into the powerful new JSONata and variables features. We explain how JSONata allows complex JSON transformations without custom Lambda functions, enabling more serverless workflows. The variables feature also helps avoid the previous 256KB state size limit. We share examples from real projects showing how these features simplify workflows, reduce costs and enable new use cases.AWS Bites is brought to you in association with fourTheorem. In this episode, we provide commentary and analysis on the 2024 AWS Community Survey results. We go through the key findings for each area including infrastructure as code, CI/CD, serverless, containers, NoSQL databases, event services, and AI/ML. While recognizing potential biases, we aim to extract insights from the data and share our perspectives based on experience. Overall, we see increased adoption across many services, though some pain points remain around developer experience. We hope this format provides value to listeners interested in cloud technology trends.

We built a Step Function that allows us to generate high-quality transcripts for AWS Bites podcast! After evaluating different approaches and technologies we ended up using Amazon transcribe and OpenAI whisper. They both have their pros and cons but combined together they gave us everything we were looking for with quite a good degree of accuracy! In this episode, we describe our use case, our research, and how eventually we did go about productionizing our final solution. If you run a podcast and you would like to do something similar, we have open source our solution. It's called PodWhisperer and you can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/fourTheorem/podwhisperer .

In this week's SlatorPod, we are joined by Kirsten Brecht Baker, Co-founder and CEO of Jeenie, an on-demand healthcare interpreting platform that recently raised USD 9.3m in Series A funding.Kirsten begins with her journey as a daughter of linguists and how she transitioned from working in international education to co-founding Jeenie. She tells us about the pivot to servicing healthcare in the US and how they grew in one of the most competitive spaces in the industry. The CEO shares her experience partnering with Transformation Capital, a growth equity fund focused on innovative healthcare IT and services companies, in order to scale through hiring and innovate through technology. She talks about the advantages of working remotely versus a hybrid model, such as direct connections from clients to interpreters in as little as 15 seconds. The pod rounds off with Jeenie's technology plans for the future with intentional partnerships and integrations with electronic medical records and electronic health records. Kirsten gives her outlook, where she sees a transition from OPI to VRI, and increased communication due to rising migrant trends around the world.First up, Florian and Anna discuss the language industry news of the week, with two airports in Canada being ordered to pay CAD 20,000 to serial complainant Michel Thibodeau. In M&A news, Toppan Digital Language, the LSP subsidiary of Singapore-based Toppan Leefung, expanded its London presence with the acquisition of TranslateMedia. Meanwhile, Down Under, the Australian Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity launched the second edition of its national standards for legal interpreting.Florian talks about Amazon Transcribe's no-code workflow, which enables video subtitle creation directly within the service.

? In this session, we'll discuss how to utilize natural language processing (NLP) to analyze data sources, such as user sentiments, conversational intent, and social media. Machine learning solutions help us bring deeper insights and relationships in texts to reduce the analysis time from weeks to days. We will highlight how quickly a machine learning-based solution can be deployed. We will dive deep into AWS services, such as AWS Lambda, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Comprehend (Classification), Topic Modeling, and Amazon Transcribe, to rapidly develop a natural language search and analysis application to meet such requirements. We will also demonstrate how to ingest social media Tweets to generate a sentiment score to engage with the customer more effectively. Complete Title: AWS re:Invent 2018: Improving Customer Experience: Enhanced Customer Insights Using Natural Language Processing (PUT301-i)
Many businesses need to quickly and reliably produce a transcript from audio- or video-based content. Up until now, businesses had to incur both the expense and the lengthy process of hiring staff or a service to transcribe this content. Moreover, to produce a multi-language version of the content required translating it into the target language and possibly over-dubbing the original content with a new audio track. In this session, we walk you through the capabilities, process, and coding approach for creating subtitled and translated videos using Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Translate, and Amazon Polly.
In this latest episode of AWS TechChat, hosts Olivier and Dean discuss how AWS enables you to innovate quickly with the latest from AWS PrivateLink, Amazon CloudFront, VPC endpoints, AWS Greengrass, AWS Snowball Edge, AWS Fargate, Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Transcribe.
