In this episode of Spikes Excitement Talks, Gordon sits down with Donata Peksa, Head of Brand Experience at HSBC, one of the world's most recognized banks. With over 15 years at HSBC and a rich background that spans economics, marketing, and international roles, Donata brings a unique perspective on navigating brand leadership through organizational transformation. They talk about her journey from a PhD in economics to building global brand campaigns, why airport ads first drew her to HSBC, and how brand work thrives in times of change. Donata also reflects on the mentors and thought leaders who shaped her path and shares how a "squiggly career" became a source of strength rather than doubt.Furthermore they dive into real-world examples of how humor, authenticity, and empathy drive connection.Donata also reflects on brand envy and admiration—from the consistent values-driven work of Dove to the multi-sensory genius of MasterCard. The conversation ends up with a powerful look into the future of marketing: creator culture, digital fatigue, and the rising need for brands to offer not just innovation, but reassurance and optimism in an overstimulated world.Tune in for insights on challenger mindsets, brand storytelling in uncertain times, and the value of embracing nonlinear growth.
AI and the process of thinking with Donata Schoeller. The Living Process with Greg Madison. Episode 32. This, 5th conversation with Donata, tackles the huge topic of AI - artificial intelligence, something that has now exploded into almost every area of human life. In our conversation, Donata stresses the importance of the process of thinking not just the outcome of thinking. Below are some points that feel most important and a link at the bottom to a document Donata offers as a summary. We both used chatGPT to help generate the points and the document and then refined what was produced so that it resonated with what we wanted to say, an instance of the use of AI that Donata is advocating! * AI discussions often compare it to human intelligence, but we need to improve our understanding of human thinking to use AI for our benefit.* Education should focus on understanding the process of thinking, not just output.* Teachers need to create assignments that imply real engagement and can't be easily done by AI, encouraging students to think. But how?* Thinking is often seen as vague and hard, making AI a handy tool to avoid it.* Eugene Gendlin's methods show a grounded, embodied way of thinking that connects with real experiences.* Hannah Arendt's political thinking stresses the need to use real experiences for clarity, encouraging engagement with life's complexities, including emotions.* Developing inclusive thinking needs courage and openness, with Gendlin's methods helping with this.* Joint attention and embodied resonance are key for cognitive growth, making thinking more inclusive, joyful, and trustworthy.* Embodied thinkers are connected to the earth and other living processes, a concept educators should promote.Episode 32.
EPISODE 20 - "THE WORLD WE ARE", WITH DONATA SCHOELLER, PHD. THE LIVING PROCESS WITH GREG MADISON, PHD. I'm happy to announce The Living Process, Episode 20 with Donata Schoeller. This is the 4th, theme-based, conversation with Donata. This time we are picking up where we left our last conversation and talking about whether a person has an ‘inside'. Topics we cover include “what words do”, what is visible and invisible and how even the invisible can still be perceived. We touch on the interaction of symbols and body, the different spaces we live in, Gene's Process Model, the meaning of gestures, how this all works in the act of felt sensing. Later in the conversation we discuss how felt sensing is a dance and a primary process of making meaning. The general question we are exploring is whether people are separate? Donata expresses this in the beautiful statement: “we are immersed in a common world net”. Near the end, Donata asks, “What makes this practice so beautiful?” Where does the sincerity and integrity come from? We conclude the episode by agreeing on our topic for the next conversation. This is Part 1 of Episode 13. Donata Schoeller and I are doing a series of these shorter episodes on specific topics in embodied thinking and experiential practice. Part one explores the kinds of thinking usually associated with philosophy and especially how we can welcome more embodied critical thinking into philosophy. Part two, which follows, is entitled 'What do we find when we Focus?' and explores questions of subjectivity and 'inside/outside'. In this episode Donata introduces Embodied critical thinking, and how to include more of our experiences into all that we are thinking. We learn positions, arguments, and texts, but it is harder to integrate into thinking what we are experiencing from our own living. We discuss how Focusing and TAE are revolutionary methods to enter into the experiential ground from which our thinking grows. But that move is considered to be private, subjective, or therapeutic. The philosophical culture does not readily allow this feeling of thinking. How can philosophy open up to the felt experience without being accused of becoming therapy? How do we soften the boundaries between the disciplines of philosophy and psychotherapy? Donata names three competencies for this embodied critical thinking. We need a kind of reflective care and experiential listening rather than critical thinking to process our deep thinking. Dr Donata Schoeller is a philosopher who teaches internationally at various universities and is the academic director of the program "Training in Embodied Critical Thinking. In addition to her work on Gendlin's philosophy, Donata has also worked in depth on Meister Eckhart. She has published extensively on Gendlin's philosophy and was involved in translating Gendlin's text A Process Model into German. This is Part 2 of Episode 13. Donata Schoeller and I are doing a series of these shorter episodes on specific topics in embodied thinking and experiential practice. Part two explores questions of subjectivity and 'inside/outside' in our understanding of Focusing. In this episode, we address the misunderstanding of Focusing as merely a private and subjective practice. Donata offers an understanding of Focusing that is radically different from the old model of subjective/objective. This takes us towards our next topic of 'inside/outside' and whether the body can be thought of as having its own subjective 'inside' that is separate from the world. The episode is about 30 minutes and will, I think, be of relevance to anyone who focuses and how they understand their experience in fresh ways. Many thanks to Donata who proceeded with the episode despite struggling with the flu! In this episode of the BSuite podcast, host Anne Richardson digs into the complex topic of data privacy with experts Donata Stroink-Skillrud and Hans Skillrud, founders of Termageddon, a service that generates and updates website privacy policies, cookie policies, and terms & conditions for small businesses. Termageddon exists to help businesses remain in compliance with the rapidly evolving landscape of privacy regulations. Hans and Donata break down the basics of privacy law compliance, explain why a lack of standardized privacy law in the United States (and around the globe) causes so much trouble for business and consumers, and ultimately imagine the positive impact that better privacy practices could have on the advertising industry as a whole. She teaches Thinking at the Edge and is a Focusing trainer offering courses in Switzerland. This is a shorter episode of The Living Process where Donata and I outline some of our mutual interests and especially some of her philosophical insights into Gendlin's work. She describes her experience of working with Gendlin on the translation of A Process Model and a little bit about the recent Gendlin Symposium which we both attended. Donata and I have laid out a series of topics that we think would be valuable to delve into more deeply and so we plan to offer a series of follow-up videos on these topics. Our hope is that offering a series of shorter videos rather than trying to pack too much into one episode, will help us to offer conversations that can act as outreach to people who are new to Focusing, Focusing Therapy, and Gendlin's philosophy. Keep an eye out for these upcoming offerings... For more on Donata's work see: https://www.donataschoeller.com

Director, producer and writer Donato Rotunno's third feature film, IO STO BENE (I Am Fine) focuses on the life of Antonio, a man who has spent his whole life away from his home country ofItaly. Antonio is facing down his own mortality when he crosses paths with Leo, a young Italian artist who is trying to make it abroad. The old man and the young woman's destinies mirror each other. Memories from the past are awoken and end up offering a more peaceful future to the both of them. This multi-layered film follows Antonio Spinelli growing up with Vito, his cousin of the same age, and their friend Giuseppe. At the end of the 1960s, pushed out of South Italy by a catastrophic economic situation, they decide to leave the country to work abroad. What's initially supposed to be a short stay to make ends meet will end up determining their individual paths. While Vito works in Belgium and Giuseppe in Germany, Antonio is the only one who goes to a little country called Luxembourg. There, he meets Mady, who becomes his continued support and gives him the strength to be who he really is. Leopoldina prefers to be called Leo. She has finished her graphic design studies and dreams of an artistic career where she could mix graphic design creations and music. She wants to take her future in her own hands and make a living out of her passion. That's why she decides to leave Italy with her boyfriend and dreams of going on tour all over Europe to perform in clubs as a visual jockey. But they break up and Leo's boyfriend goes back to Italy, leaving Leo on her own in Luxembourg. She hasn't told him that she is pregnant. Director and writer Donato Rotunno joins us for a conversation on his affinity for complex stories that illuminate many of the basic truths about love, family, friends and the capricious outcome of the paths we choose to follow. Name: Diamond Spikes Business Name: DS Creative Design Studio Current Title: CEO Location: Atlanta Georgia Educational Background: Spelman College, Studio Art, BA- Bachelor of Art About Diamond Spikes: Diamond Spikes, a creative entrepreneur and brand medium, embodies the philosophy that branding at its core is rooted in authenticity and mirrors how we develop, maintain and deepen relationships with one another as human beings. As the owner of an award-winning branding agency, DS Creative Design Studio, that serves DTC brands, her and her team have helped businesses tap into their unique essence and connect deeply with their audiences. Her agency's approach, informed by her degree in art, studies in psychology and sociology, and her innate intuition has earned her trust of over 70 brands such as Donata, Barbella Co, Hoop Mobb, and Buy with Prime. With over 10 years of experience as an entrepreneur, Diamond has grown multiple multi-six figure brands. As a Black woman from Atlanta, GA who's also a Scorpio stellium, she brings a unique perspective to the branding world with a very specific level of depth. She believes that the truth of who we are and the courage to show it consistently is the key to building genuine connections, both in branding and in our relationships with others. Diamond's philosophy is that branding is not at all about creating a facade but about revealing the truth of who you are, it's about authenticity and allowing that to shine through. By embracing this approach, she has been able to help businesses build brands that resonate with their audiences, just as in human relationships, authenticity and vulnerability leads to deeper connections. In today's fast-paced world, it's all too easy to get caught up in the superficial and forget the essence of who we are. Diamond Spikes reminds us that true success in branding and in life comes from staying rooted in ourselves and connecting authentically with others. DURING THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: The importance of creating a brand that resonates with your audience The role that empathy plays in branding The importance of being a specialist and not a generalist for succeeding How to identify your audience and create a brand that reflects their personalities Tips on how to increase your revenue by being consistent and putting the consumer at the center of your brand story For complete show notes and resources mentioned for this episode go to: blacktobusiness.com/146 Thank you so much for listening! Tune in as we discuss running a successful agency, stepping into your CEO role, building a business that doesn't rely solely on you, and why we should all stop being so “anti-corporate.” We talk about how to effectively pitch corporations, why it's easier than you think, and our experiences with hustle culture and burning out.For the full show notes and access to resources mentioned in this episode visit https://www.easyscaling.com/blog/episode6In today's episode, we're talking about running a successful agency, stepping into your CEO role, and why we should stop being “anti-corporate.” My guest is Donata White, the CEO of Coffee Date Media, a social media marketing and content production agency. Once a burnt-out attorney in New York City, she started her blog and YouTube channel in 2012 as a creative outlet -- never dreaming it would become so much more. Now she leads a multi-six-figure business and team of 10, working with billion-dollar corporations and solo entrepreneurs alike. Her life did a full 180, and she left her draining job in the big city 4 years ago to run CDM full time from her 40-acre farm. Donata believes in combining solid strategy with a think-big mindset to create the life of your dreams. Donata regularly works with billion-dollar corporations so we talk a lot about pitching and specifically pitching corporate clients (and why it's easier than you think). Topics Discussed:Why you should always “stay pitching” and a step by step pitch template to useFinding the right person and leveraging connections to pitch corporationsWhy running an agency is so much fun (and a little woo woo detour)How we've both made the shift from agency to “coaching” and why it feels legitOur experiences with hustle culture and burning outBuilding a business that doesn't rely solely on you as the CEOWhy pitching corporate is a lot easier than you thinkHow agency owners and service providers can leverage job alertsA mindblowing statistic about how small businesses are defined
