Watch/Listen to this and all episodes ad free by joining the ITBR Patreon for only $5 a month! patreon.com/ivorytowerboilerroom Social Media Marketing Maven, Celebrity/Content Liaison and founder of Anchors to Dusk Publishing, Joseph A. Federico, enters the ITBR to discuss queer elements in the third season of the American horror anthology television series “American Horror Story: Coven," and the drama series “Interview with the Vampire” based on the novel series “The Vampire Chronicles” by Anne Rice. Joseph and Andrew discuss the significance of the Coven House located in the Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana which attracts many horror fans who dress up like witches to re-enact scenes from the show. Andrew asks, “why do you think it is so important that women are the center of the witch narrative rather than bring in men as witches”? Joseph argues that “Coven” does call on men to “come out” of the “shadows," specifically queer men. Finally, Joseph and Andrew discuss that Lestat and Louis are not only seen as controversial for their erotic desire but also for being same-sex parents to Claudia. Joseph explains that what makes "Interview with the Vampire" so intriguing is how it's not only a horror novel but one that comments on society's homophobic attitude by centering on queer male vampires. Welcome back. Just an FYI: tonight's a bit longer as we welcome back Helen Marie Powell as we discuss witchcraft and Voodoo. I apologize if I got the definition of warlock wrong, I was going by memory of what I had heard was the original definition. Sorcerer was mentioned which is usually male but also high magick. Walter mentioned American Horror Story: Coven which took place in New Orleans which is known for Voodoo. You will find many Voodoo shops in the French Quarter, albeit a bit touristy, but fun. Walter also told us about Mary Oneida Toups who founded the Religious Order of Witchcraft the first coven to be chartered in Louisiana as a religious organization. I may be related to her since my maternal grandfather was a Toups. What would you do to keep your sisters safe? The Hollow sisters are strange. As children, the Hollow sisters vanished into thin air and then reappeared one month later. They were different. But they were back. Now 10 years later the strangeness has started to seep back into the lives of the sisters. Grey, Vivi, and Iris are all beautiful with white hair and black eyes. All can do things. All are in danger. If you love dark fairytales that skew to horror then you will adore this. Filled with vivid descriptions that might make you squirm, House of Hollow redefines sisterhood and asks the question "what WOULDN'T you do for your sisters?" It's been 10 years since American Horror Story: Coven. I played one of Kathy Bates' Madame LaLaurie's daughters. I had two sisters, played by Ashlynn Ross and Jennifer Lynn Warren. This interview marks the first time the three of us have all been together in the last 10 years. We're talking all about our favorite memories from working on the show, our on-set injuries, the absurdity of playing some of the more outlandish scenes from the show (including one of Ashlynn's scenes that Ryan Murphy allegedly called "the most f*cked up thing" they had ever done), and what every transplant learns about the perils of smoking in California. We're also talking about what we've learned in the last 10 years about showbiz, life, and the big reason why actors make great directors.Join Patreon to support the show and see bonus videos from this episode: https://www.patreon.com/raedenSubscribe on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@raedengreerWatch the full video of this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/i5_hJSf0-vAUse discount code PRETENDER at checkout for 15% off your order from Three Spirit Elixirs. Let's welcome Sareta back for this episode covering New Orleans and three of its notorious residents. Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, Madame LaLaurie and the Axman. Also, have we been sucked into a timeshare? Will we get ax murdered in New Orleans? How does one become the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans? Where can I hand in my CV? What trouble did The Misfits get up to in New Orleans? Will they ever be allowed back? Is Madame LaLaurie as awful as she was portrayed in American Horror Story: Coven? How bad did you have to treat your slaves to be known to treat slaves badly?! How does Nicholas Cage fit into all this? Is he having money problems? And does anyone actually really like jazz?
Biglietti per Crime & Comedy Live! link.dice.fm/Sdb018172bc6 - Off Topic Torino - 16 Novembre Madame LaLaurie è leggenda. --------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Youtube: https://youtu.be/o_iI9EaZr2o Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimeandcomedy/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeComedy Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Capitoli: (00:00:00) | Intro (00:01:02) | Sigla (00:01:16) | Madame LaLaurie e American Horror Story - Coven (00:02:10) | Crime & Comedy Live! Buon Halloween! Cambiamo località e andiamo nell'affascinante New Orleans. Tutto bene finora, no?
In 2013, Kathy Bates played the evil New Orleans socialite Madame Delphine LaLaurie in American Horror Story: Coven. Although the character had many embellishments and false storylines, Madame LaLaurie was a very much a real person. Living in the height of society in 1834, Madame LaLaurie becomes the most hated woman in New Orleans in a single, terrible night. Her mansion of terrors still stands on Royal Street in the French Quarter and this week, we will talk about why her home is a stop on any haunted tour.
I fell in love with Emma Roberts when she filmed American Horror Story: Coven and We're the Millers. When I started recording this episode, I knew it would get a little dark. But, I didn't realize how dark. In this episode, I cover Emma's intense family history (think: addiction, domestic violence, traumatic car accidents/comas and suicide), the nepotism of it all, her relationship with Evan Peters (and the two engagements), the love triangle with her/Hayden Christiansen/Rachel Bilson, and her relationship with Garrett Hedlund. I also go on a few tangents about a few personal anecdotes I have from friends who've been in her presence, as well as my own personal rants. If you like this podcast, please rate, review and subscribe. For photos, please follow X Knows All so I can gain more followers and be famous.
In our second episode about Witches, we talk about women who embrace the label of witch because they don't accept typical gender roles, and women maligned as “witches” by others, including Hillary Clinton and AOC. Plus, WITCH protest groups, Lindy West, and pop culture witches that made a statement about gender and feminism, including The Craft, AHS: Coven, and Sabrina. We also discuss Disney witches, including Maleficent and Ursula. It won't surprise you to know that most witches in film and TV are not great representations of women. Still - why are so many of us drawn to the idea, imagery, and symbolism of a witch? What is inherent to witches that leads feminists to identify with them? Want extra reading?
