Showtime Synergy! We throw on our holographic micro-projector earring for a celebration of all things Jem & the Holograms! First we explore the 5-episode beginning to the iconic 80s series by Christy Marx...which Guido loves and Rob has just discovered. Then it's off to one of the wildest multiverses ever that sees Jem team up with such properties at GI Joe, Transformers, Micronauts, Stretch Armstrong, MASK, Action Man, Magic or Dungeons and Dragons, and more to create a shared Hasbro universe that only exists in a super rare 2011 New York Comic Con exclusive issue. We wrap up by chatting about IDW's 2015 Jem comic book series from Kelly Thompson and Sophie Campbell and what could be next for the band! Ep. 110 What if Jem & the Holograms were heroes in the Hasbro multiverse alongside Micronauts, Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, Candyland, Inhumanoids, Stretch Armstrong, and others? (from Unit-E comic book)From Hasbro's multiversal earth in Unit-E #1Find us at https://linktr.ee/dearwatchersThrow this episode on your tape deck, it's time for Dear Watchers' exploration of the iconic girl group Jem and the Holographs across TV and comics! We kick off with a brief history of Jem as toys and on TV before we dive into the first five episodes of the 80s animated show. Next up, we travel to a bizarre multiverse that sees Jem's Synergy putting together a super-team of Hasbro heroes including Jem herself! This never fully realized mashup only appears in a super rare New York Comic Con exclusive comic from 2011. We ponder what could have come next for this never realized story by Andy Schmidt (that also includes art by Art Adams and others). We wrap up by jumping into Jem's 2015 ongoing comic book series from Kelly Thompson and Sophie Campbell that reimagines the Holograms story for modern times. Of course, we also ponder some possibilities about what's next for this iconic band. We'll be back next week with part three of our coverage of Age of Apocalypse on episode 111 including the conclusion of the story and the future legacy!Reading List: Jem & The Holograms, Episodes 1 to 5 (TV show 1985) Unit-E #1 (Hasbro comic book 2011) Jem & The Holograms #1 (IDW comic book 2015) Email Podcast@DearWatchers.comFind us & support us at https://linktr.ee/dearwatchersTheme music is Space Heroes by MaxKoMusic (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0) ★ Support this podcast ★

It's feast day for Star Wars comics this week with three new comics -- the Revelations one-shot, Yoda #1 (of 10) and Hyperspace Stories #3 (of 12) -- and the Tales From the Rancor Pit original graphic novel. As a result, this is a longer episode than normal, but it should offer up some guidance, particularly where Marc Guggenheim's Revelations one-shot is concerned. Meanwhile, Hyperspace Stories #3 captures the endearing aspect of Finn and Poe perfectly, while we're treated to a side of Yoda that's rarely seen. What, another member of the Crusty Bunkers?! That's right, time to punch one more hole in your CB frequency card, because we have Mr. Carl Potts on the pod! This card-carrying member of Neal Adams' Continuity Studios got his start adapting TV shows like The Six Million Dollar Man before landing at Marvel in 1983. As an editor, Carl was a talent magnet, having brought on or mentored such luminaries (and some past guests) as Art Adams, Jon Bogdanove, June Brigman, Mike Mignola, Larry Stroman, Whilce Portacio, and Scott Williams! He also oversaw the first Rocket Raccoon miniseries, the launch of Punisher War Journal (with Jim Lee), and the creator-owned Epic imprint. All this, and he co-created Alien Legion too! So settle in, Banditos: Carl's got some stories to tell...__________________________________Check out a video version of this episode on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/dollarbinbandits.If you liked this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. In Episode 32 of CEREBRO, Connor and legendary Marvel writer and editor Ann Nocenti chase a ratings spike with her creation Mojo, ruler of the Wildways! Created for the 1985 miniseries Longshot, Mojo became one of the X-Men's strangest recurring foes: the alien despot of a world built on television. As biting meta-commentary on fandom itself, he has become an engine for social satire in X-Men comics. The CEREBRO character file on Mojo begins at 48:43. (Content Advisory: Mojo's story includes slavery, brainwashing, torture, suicide, and metaphors for addiction.) The episode cover features art of Mojo by Art Adams.
How do we describe what we want our cinematic images to look like without an agreed-upon definition of what “cinematic” means? Art Adams is a Cinema Lens Specialist at ARRI, and a large part of his job is to translate the characteristics of lens design from the language of engineering to the language of cinema. Ryan is talking with Art about this issue today along with the way film and digital interpret color, the evolution of lens design, and much more! Art graciously told us we could share his email with our audience, so if you have a question we didn’t get to on this podcast you can reach him on your own at lenses@arri.com. And now for part two of my chat with Art Adams. There is no real theme to this episode. Its the best bits of the conversation that are not about the tech that were too good to leave on the cutting room floor. We talk about what it is like getting work, skirt around some tech, a bit of TV set politics, and a bit of laughter. And you can now join the conversation on our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/706638870181022
Art Adams was until recently a highly regarded freelance DP working in commercials and corporates on the West coast of America. He is known to many for his extensive contributions to sites like Pro Video Collation and CML. He recently took up a position at Arri as a Cinema Lens Specialist, a job which allows him to geek out to his hearts content with some of the best cameras and lenses in the world. In the first of a two parter, Art and I talk about the technical side of cinematography, his extensive camera testing and how he got into cinematography.
The number of visual art forms is staggering. Film, Television, live Theater, sculptures and paintings. None of those get us more excited than comic books! They may have been deemed the cause of juvenile delinquency over an half century ago, but today, comics are finally being recognized as the legitimate art form that they are! Bottom line…a writer can craft a story, the artist brings it to life. During this episode, we'll be sharing our favorite comic book artist, their work, what it means to us and…are inkers just tracers? It's The Art Of It All on My Big Fat Pull List! On this edition of the Loeb Report we get into the questions from our word balloon listeners. We'll hear more about the creation of Ultimate X with Art Adams , and story points from HULK and New Ulltimates. We'll learn about the current status of works in progress, like Captain America White with Tim Sale and the yet unnamed Spider-Man project with J Scott Campbell. And Jeph looks back revisiting details on Batman: Hush and Ultimatum, how he originally got the job writing Cable in 1994. You'll find out Jeph's view on this years slate of comic book films, what pieces of original art he owns from past collaborators, and the difficulties of writing Spider-Man's quips, and the toughest story Loeb ever wrote., and the seemingly unending teen devotion to his work as screenwriter on the films Commando and Teen Wolf.
