An important Global Health Matters podcast topic this month, discussing the need to build an awareness of the ways we interact with colleagues in the workplace to adapt our programmes to be more inclusive. We need to talk about “the future of global health through diversity and dignity”. Host Garry Aslanyan interviews our special guests who have a deep understanding of diversity and dignity and their application worldwide. Our first guest, Marie Ba, is from Ouagadougou Partnership where she advocates for reproductive health and development across West and Central Africa. Marie Ba questions whether diversity is just a tick-box exercise, ensuring that we break down the definition and elements that make up the term “diversity”. Tom Wein is based in Kenya where he leads research on dignity in development with IDinsight. By analysing further the two concepts of diversity and dignity together, the link is formed and shows that representation is only one aspect, and that agency and equality also need to be factored in to realize dignity within diversity. Join us in this podcast episode to develop a broader understanding of the future of global health through diversity and dignity. Jimmy was born in a small village inthe Northern part of Quebec,Canada, in an area where largescale communication with otherswas very limited. From a veryyoung age, Jimmy started beinginterested and developed a passionfor radio communication, whichallowed him to contact with easepeople from around the world. Atthe age of 12 Jimmy has passedthe test and obtained the license tobecome officially a radio amateur. This allowed him to expand the ability tointeract with more people and participate in contact contests. It was a greataccomplishment for his young age. This also encouraged Jimmy to developfurther his interest in communication with people in remote areas of the planet. In 2016 Jimmy developed a unique antenna for Moonbounce Communicationwhich allowed him to communicate across the planet with other like-mindedpeople using the Moon as a passive reflector, as another platform forcommunication. Jimmy published his work and his engineered creation inspecialized magazines sharing with others his invention called TARP. In 2017 Jimmy's desire of communicating with others expanded tointerplanetary communication. He repurposed his radio station andTARP antenna for communication with non-human intelligence.Jimmy's endeavor was strongly supported by his children and wife, who arecompletely in tune with his search for extraterrestrial life. Jimmy continued toexplore more possibilities for contact with civilizations from far out this world. Since 2018 Jimmy worked tirelessly to develop a First Contact Protocol (FCP),which gives the possibility to mankind to establish contact withnonhuman intelligence, and hopefully help humanity to integrate the GalacticFederation of Worlds. He strongly believes that the Humanity will be reunitedwith its Galactic Family in the near future.

What's cool is they have a site of the day, like a fun fact, thought of the day, a book of the month. Joe: The book that I used as an entrepreneur, that helped me through all sorts of issues was Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. The big lesson in that is writing down your goals and reviewing those goals on a regular basis. That's my secret that's not a secret to success in entrepreneurship: I write down my goals, I have 5 or 6 main goals for every year that I look at and review them every day. And when you review them in the morning, you do different things based on those goals. This new book, I was surprised because I had low expectations on this book, it's Greenlights by Mathew McConaughey. I really thought it's not a good book, but I read it, he wrote down his goals on a regular basis and review them. Great lessons and I learned a lot about myself reading that book. The real focus on that is goal setting and goal reading.WANT TO LISTEN MORE?Did you like this episode? Can we find purpose in terrible situations that we can't change? If so, how?Have you ever been sentenced to life in prison for murder? Me neither. But Quan Huynh was at age 23. In prison, he only wanted to establish a reputation as dangerous and to be feared. Then, in his eleventh year, something happened. Several circumstances prompted him to reevaluate his reason for being. He committed himself to living as purposely even single day, even if his legacy never left the prison yard. Eventually, he was paroled. Now he's living a deeply purposeful life helping others, including recently released prisoners. In this episode, you'll learn about:How purpose can be found even in antisocial behavior such as gang activitiesHow reinterpreting our circumstances can change our whole lifeThe power of creating a legacy where we're atThe need to let go of other people's expectations for usThe goodness in life that arises when we do the right thing***Want to connect? Hey friends, just something that I've been thinking about recently is this acronym that I came up with a few years ago. It's AHA and it's pronounced aha and so that's aha programming and it stands for avoid hasty abstractions and this is actually a blog post that I wrote with some time ago and it talks a lot about how like dry do not repeat yourself as to dugmatic and wet programming which is a variant of that is right everything twice is also. Two dogmatic and more we should be more mindful of the types of abstractions that we create and and I talk a lot about in the blog post, which I suggest you go take a look at but one part of this and is at kind of the micro level and that's what I have been thinking about recently just today. As you're working on a new feature or something is really really often in my programming at least I'm working through something and I start I'm thinking about how I'm going to implement something and I instantly decide okay, I'm going to need.A function that does this And so often that ends up being the wrong decision I end up making and especially with TypeScript actually. This is a big pain because then you have to there's just a lot of boilerplate with making a function. But even even not without TypeScript, you have to think about okay, what are the parameters what order are they going to be in or is it going to be an object that AD structure? And it just adds a lot of stuff that for code that you don't even really know what it's going to look like yet and and on top of that if you decide oh actually this function needs to change like weWe just add a lot of extra work and thought before we've actually written the code just by making a function for this thing that we think we might want to function for where in actuality. I find I'm so much more productive if I just start by writing the code and inlining as much as I possibly can even if that means I'm copy pasting from one part of the code base to another and just in line everything as much as you can make a big long function. And then before you commit at that point, you look atThe code that you've written and you think okay, so now what are the abstractions that I see now that the code has been written? And so, I find a lot of my problem comes with when I try to abstract the code that's not there yet. And I find a much more productive if I abstract the code that exists after I've written it. So anyway, hopefully that's helpful to you next time you feel the urge to write a function for code that doesn't exist yet. Maybe take a step back and write the code first then make the function. Have a wonderful day.

Chapter 76 Witha lesson more or less, we are always the same donkeys.""And what willthe teacher say?""Let him talk. He is paid to grumble10 all daylong.""And my mother?""Mothers don't know anything,"answered those scamps. "Doyou know what I'll do?" said Pinocchio. "Forcertain reasons of mine, I, too, want to see that Shark;but I'll go afterschool. I can see him then as well as now.""Poor simpleton!"cried one of the boys. "Do you thinkthat a fish of that size will standthere waiting for you? Heturns and off he goes, and no one will ever be the wiser.""How longdoes it take from here to the shore?" asked the Marionette. "Onehour there and back.""Very well, then. Let's see who gets therefirst!" cried Pinocchio. Atthe signal, the little troop, with books under their arms, dashed across thefields. Pinocchio led the way, runningas if on wings, the others following asfast as they could. This is a video of Belay Zelleke's message "When Jesus Turned Up At The Temple". It is message 5 in the series "Hearts Prepared for Jesus". We all experience monumental events in our lives which we celebrate: a first job, starting at a new school or the birth of a first born. Following Jesus' birth, two important events linked to the Passover Festival were to observed: the purification of Mary and the presentation of Jesus - Mary's first-born - to God. Join us as we explore how these events assure us that Jesus is always with us and brings us peace.
Education in the Early ChurchOne of the remarkable principles of education in Scripture emergesas Jesus, the Master Teacher, prepares to leave His students or disciples. They had been with Him for three and a half years, approximately theamount of time we allocate to a high school or college education. Atthe completion of either period, depending upon the person, studentsare often considered ready to manage on their own.But Jesus knew better, and so He provided His followers with ongo-ing or continuing education under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.Elsewhere that teacher or guide is identified as Comforter or Advocate(in Greek, paracletos) who will be given to the followers of Jesuspermanently (John 14:16, 17). He is identified as the Spirit of Truth. While the Holy Spirit is not identified as an educator, the work of theSpirit certainly is educational, particularly as it pertains to seeking andfinding the truth.Read 1 Corinthians 2:1–16. What is Paul saying that is so importantin the context of education?Paul begins by reminding the church in Corinth that when he firstcame to them he spoke of nothing but Jesus Christ and His crucifixion(1 Cor. 2:2)—no clever wisdom, only the gospel proclamation. But thatwas not the end of it (1 Cor. 2:6), because once these new Christiansmatured, the apostle would be back to teach them wisdom, the thingsGod hid before the world began (1 Cor. 2:7), even the deep things ofGod (1 Cor. 2:10). All will be studied under the guidance of the Spiritof God as He joins with the spirit of the learner. How deep will that study be, and how much learning will be open tothose who are led by the Spirit? The chapter concludes with a quota-tion from the prophet Isaiah: “Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,or as His counselor has taught Him?” (Isa. 40:13, NKJV). The prophetspeaking to ordinary people of his day would say that no one can dothat. But Paul corrected that perception by concluding, “We have themind of Christ,” meaning that Spirit-filled Christians have access evento the mind of God, and thus to any amount of learning and under-standing (1 Cor. 2:10–13) that would be needed to know the path ofrighteousness.

Further Thought: Read Ellen G. White, “ ‘Almost Thou PersuadestMe,’ ” pp. 433–438, in The Acts of the Apostles. The essence of the Christian life is a relationship with Jesus that is sorich and full that we long to share it. As important as correct doctrineis, it cannot substitute for a life transformed by grace and changed bylove. Ellen G. White makes it plain when she states: “The Saviour knewthat no argument, however logical, would melt hard hearts or breakthrough the crust of worldliness and selfishness. He knew that Hisdisciples must receive the heavenly endowment; that the gospel wouldbe effective only as it was proclaimed by hearts made warm and lipsmade eloquent by a living knowledge of Him who is the way, the truth, and the life.”—The Acts of the Apostles, p. 31. In the book The Desireof Ages, she adds this powerful thought: “The wonderful love of Christwill melt and subdue hearts, when the mere reiteration of doctrineswould accomplish nothing.”—Page 826.There are those who have the idea that giving their personal testi-mony is about trying to convince others of the truths they have discov-ered in the Word of God. Although it is important at the appropriatetime to share the truths of God’s Word, our personal testimony hasmuch more to do with the freedom from guilt, the peace, the mercy, theforgiveness, and the strength, hope, and joy we have found in the giftof eternal life Jesus so freely offers.Discussion Questions: Why do you think our personal testimony is so powerful ininfluencing others? How have the testimonies of others impactedyou and your own experience? In class, talk about your answer to Wednesday’s final question. Why is a daily experience with the Lord so important, not just toour witness but to our own personal faith, as well? Of course, a powerful testimony can be an effective witness. Atthe same time, why is a godly life such an important part of ourwitness? Share your personal testimony with the class. Remember thatyou are sharing what Christ has done for you and what He meansto you. What difference does Jesus make in your life?

Forget all your sorrows your cares and your labors, And let every heart beat with rapture today. Come, come one and all, attend to my call, And revel in pleasures that never can cloy. Come see rural felicity, Which love and innocence ever enjoy. Let Envy, Let Pride, Let Hate & Ambition, Still Crowd to, & beat at the breast of the Great, To Such Wretched Passions we Give no admission, But Leave them alone to the wise ones of State. We Boast of No wealth, but Contentment & Health, In mirth & in Friendship, our moments employ Come see rural felicity, Which love and innocence ever enjoy. With Reason we taste of Each Heart Stirring pleasure, With Reason we Drink of the full flowing Bowl, Are Jocund & Gay, But 'tis all within measure, For fatal excess will enslave the free Soul, Then Come at our bidding to this Happy wedding, No Care Shall obtrude here, our Bliss to annoy, Come see rural felicity, Which love and innocence ever enjoy. To work his two best horses, barrow, cart or plow Or any kind of good farmwork he knew well that I could do. He had a lovely daughter, and her name was Isabel, She was the lily of the valley and the primrose of the dell. And when she'd go out walking she'd take me for her guide; Down by the banks of Cairnie we watched those small fish glide. And when three short months had gone and passed, this lassie lost her bloom. And the red fell from her rosy cheeks, and her eyes began to swoon. And when nine long months had gone and passed, she bore to me a son, And swiftly I was sent for to see what could be done. I said that I would marry her, but och, that would not dee, Saying, “You're no match for Isabelle, and she's no match for thee.” So I took my own son all in my arms, may he bring to me much joy, And may he mean as much to me as the girl that I adore. And now she's married to a tinker lad and he comes from Huntly town, Mending pots and pans and paraffin lamps and he scours the country 'round. Maybe she's got have a better match, old Bogie can't tell, Fare ye well, you lads o' Huntly side and Bogie's Bonnie Belle." is the Colour Of My True Love's Hair (Mark Mulholland / IMRO; Kyf Brewer / Brewerds&Music / ASCAP) Well when I was just a young lad, my life about to start There was ever only one girl had a place inside my heart We walked the glen, we climbed the Ben, the forest was our bed, And many a morn I'd wake to find me kilt across her head And I been up and I been down and I been here and I been there Never saw a bonny lassie quite as comely or as fair You can talk of pretty maidens and I don't bloody care Cause tartan is the colour of my true love's hair We walked the bonnie highlands, no matter what the weather And we'd shag each other senseless in the bonnie purple heather ŒTil one day we were frolicking and as my true love laughed, She fell into the workings of an old disused mineshaft And I been up and I been down and I been here and I been there Never saw a bonny lassie quite as comely or as fair You can talk of pretty maidens and I don't bloody care Cause tartan is the colour of my true love's hair Well I never have recovered from that sad, sad, sorry day So I left my native land for the shores of Amerikay And many a man has made remark about me ancient dress But I wear it in remembrance of the girl it e'er first kissed And I been up and I been down and I been here and I been there Never saw a bonny lassie quite as comely or as fair You can talk of pretty maidens and I don't bloody care Cause tartan is the colour of my true love's hair" Mary Mack performed by Queen Ann's Lace from the album Unlaced www.QALace.com "Mary Mack There's a little girl and her name is Mary Mack Make no mistake, she's the girl I'm gonna track There's a lot of other fellas who would get up on her track But I'm thinking that they'll have to get up early CHORUS Mary Mack's father's makin' Mary Mack marry me My father's makin' me marry Mary Mack And I'm goin' to marry Mary for my Mary to take care of me Well all be making merry when I marry Mary Mack There a little lass and she has a lot of brass has a lot of gas and her father thinks I'm gas And I'd be a silly ass for to let the matter pass Her father thinks she suits me fairly CHORUS Mary and her mother do an awful lot together In fact you hardly ever see the one without the other Lot of people wonder whether if its Mary or her mother Or both of them together that I'm courting CHORUS Now the weddin's on Wednesday and everything's arranged Soon her name wil change to mine, unless her mind is changed And makin' the arrangements is makin' me deranged marriage is an awful undertaking CHORUS It's sure to be a grand affair and grander than a fair There's gonna be a coach and pair for every pair that's there We'll dine upon the finest fare, I'm sure to get my share If I don't I'll be very much mistaken CHORUS" Lover's Wreck performed by Cheeks and Phoenix from the album Any Requests www.cheeksandphoenix.com """Lover's_Wreck A hundred days at sea, A retch away from misery Rummies and rats and tarry jacks my only family (break) The island of salvation Is still a scream a way As the lungs of the night Blow out the light my heart kneels Down to pray (strait into chorus) Lord why did you take her She meant so much to me Now I’m a wretched soul on a privateer Drowning out at sea I’m killing and I’m drinking My blue heart to black But I swear oh lord I’ll never sin again If you bring her back Gypsy was a siren, Dripping with desire Her moonless hair and skin so fair as warm as frozen fire She had the loyalty of a cat, behind those pale green eyes Through her cherry lips, the devil slipped, a thousand lies A clan of rogues and vagabonds, occupied her head That thieving band took her pale white hand and stole her from my bed And like a ghost ship in the night, She drifted out once more To land upon the sand of another lover’s shore Lord why did you take her She meant so much to me Now I’m a wretched soul on a privateer Drowning out at sea I’m killing and I’m drinking My blue heart to black But I swear oh lord I’ll never sin again If you bring her back In my sleeping mind she sings a sad and lonely lullaby When I wake there’s just the ache it will haunt me till I die When those winds of vanity no longer blow her west I pray they’ll guide her home (across the foam) and put my heart to rest Press gang filled this Man-o-War To make the black mouthed cannon roar Now all my trade is ball and blade, and blood forever more And the sting of salt and spray, the ocean’s howl and squall A stumbling wreck, I roam the deck, at the devil’s beck and call At the devil’s beck and call Lord why did you take her She meant so much to me Now I’m a wretched soul on a privateer Drowning out at sea I’m killing and I’m drinking My blue heart to black But I swear oh lord I’ll never sin again If you bring her back I swear oh lord I’ll never sin again If you bring her back""" I Still Remember performed by Blackmore's Night from the album Fires At Midnight www.blackmoresnight.com "I thought of you the other day How worlds of change led us astray Colors seem to fade to gray In the wake of yesterday You looked into my eyes You had me hypnotized and I can still remember you I had a dream of you and I A thousand stars lit up the sky I touched your hand and you were gone But memories of you live on You looked into my eyes You had me hypnotized and I can still remember you Those moments spent together Promising forever and I can still remember you Do you ever think of me And get lost in the memory When you do, I hope you smile And hold that memory a while You looked into my eyes You had me hypnotized and I can still remember you Those moments spent together Promising forever and I can still remember you Still remember you Still remember you Still remember you Still remember you Still Married to a Mermaid performed by Dregs from the album Do It Like You're Drunk www.the-dregs.net "Married_to_a_Mermaid There was a gay young farmer, Who liv'd on Salisbury plain; He lov'd a rich Knight's daughter dear! And she lov'd him again. The Knight he was distressed, That they should sweethearts be. So he had the farmer soon pressed, And sent him off to sea. Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves... 'Twas on the deep Atlantic, Midst Equinoctial gales; This young farmer fell overboard Among the sharks and whales; He disappeared so quickly, So headlong down went he, That he went out of sight Like a streak of light To the bottom of the deep blue sea. Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves... We lowered a boat to find him, We thought to see his corse, When up to the top he came with a bang, And sang in a voice so hoarse, 'My comrades and my messmates, Oh, do not weep for me, For I'm married to a mermaid, Atthe bottom of the deep blue sea.' Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves... He said that as he went down, Great fishes he did see; They seemed to think as he did wink, That he was rather free. But down he went so quickly, Saying, ""Tis all up with me, ' When he met a lovely mermaid Atthe bottom of the deep blue sea. Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves... She came at once unto him, And gave him her white hand, Saying, 'I have waited long, my dear, To welcome you to land. Go to your ship and tell them, You'll leave them all for me; For you're married to a mermaid At the bottom of the deep blue sea.' Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves... The wind was fair, the sails set, The ship was running free; When we all went to the captain bold, And told what we did see. He went unto the ship's side, And loudly bellowed he, 'Be happy as you can, my man, At the bottom of the deep blue sea.' Singing Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves Britons never, never, never shall be slaves..."

As soon as someone training in CrossFit gets past that initial hump and starts to see some improvements in their training results, a common question starts to haunt their thoughts. A question vocalized by Peter Steele in Type O Negative's 1996 classic "Love You to Death." "Am I good enough?" And...."How long until I get good?" Like most of these kinds of questions, there's not a clear cut answer. But there are some lessons to be learned from the typical trajectory of development observed for thousands of athletes over time. There are also some psychological quirks involved that can trick athletes and give them a distorted perspective on their improvement and what their maximum potential may be - and these tricks function in both the positive and negative direction. In this conversation, Jon, Luke and Todd discuss:The hedonic treadmill - or Assault runner - of adaptation, and why it feels like you're always just short of being at the level that you want to compete atThe fast feedback loop of the internet and social media and why this may be great for elevating performance...but terrible for fulfillment and sense of well-beingA disagreement in how long it typically will take for an athlete to be able to transition from beginning CrossFit into doing full fledged "competitive" trainingAnd finally...Jon's philosophy of coaching based upon disappointment, regret & shame If you're enjoying the show, why not a leave a review? It makes a difference in terms of other people finding the show. And, if you're not already subscribed to our newsletter, head over to www.legionsc.com and get with the program.
All politicians are engaged in this pernicious game and are equally caught into its vicious web. President Erdogan talks about Turkey's growing hemisphere of influence in the Middle East, North Africa the Western Balkans, and lest we forget in the EU over parts of Cyprus and the immigrant population in Germany. His grandiose plans saw Turkey on the cusp of reviving its Sultanate and becoming the leading light for people lost in the darkness of their local labyrinths. Such people, according to Erdogan's rhetoric, are waiting for the torch of faith, held by the Caliph in Istanbul,to be their beacon for hope. According to recent economic reports, the Turkish economy slowed sharply in Q3 caused by high debt, currency volatility, and inflation. Annual retail sales were flat, industrial production was patchy and the unemployment rate increased significantly in July and August of 2018. President Rouhani and his puppeteers promised the creation of a Shia Crescent that would shine on the dispossessed masses of this sect from Tehran to Tartus. The Islamic Republic of Iran would bring them pride, a sense of belonging, and salvation into their wretched lives and, their after-lives too. According to the Financial Tribute, an Iranian economic daily, the rise in 2018 of the retail prices of goods that used the government's subsidized foreign currency at a rate of 42,000 rials per US dollar (about three times cheaper than the market rate) was no less than in other consumer goods. Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, the head of Plan and Budget Organization of Iran, announced that "as much as $14 billion will be spent on subsidizing the imports of essential goods as per the budget bill of next year[2019]". [President] Nassrallah of Lebanon has offered his community -and as a collateral effect – to all the Lebanese, the gifts of repelling terrorists on the Northern border, intimidating Israel on the Southern border, freeing Yemen from the yoke of the Saudis, and lend a helping hand to the Iraqis in their war on terror. As per actual reports activity in the economy remained sluggish in 2018, against a backdrop of prolonged political deadlock. The real estate sector—a cornerstone of the economy—seems to have performed poorly in the period, with cement deliveries contracting year-on-year and construction permits dropping significantly, while the merchandise trade balance widened despite robust export growth. According to the World Bank, such difficult economic conditions in the medium term are likely to adversely impact poverty rates. Even President Macron promised a “European economic government”, a "European Army" in the face of Russia, China and ...the US (?), total adherence to the Paris Climate Agreement, continued cooperation with Iran despite the US exit from the Nuclear Deal, and all that rich international agenda coupled with higher taxes on fuel for all motorists to enjoy. The latest protests in Paris by the angry Yellow Vests have caused economic havoc. According to the FT food retailers are expected to take a hit of about 1 per cent this quarter, with hypermarkets down4 to 5 per cent. And, this week, the French central bank slashed its forecast for economic growth for the fourth quarter from 0.4 per cent to 0.2 per cent. Atthe far opposite of this spectrum, President Trump promised to ‘Make America Great Again!” but through economic nationalism (not nationalization). He scrapped the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement because he judged it not in US consumers' interests, re-negotiated the NAFTA deal to redress inequities that put US products and services at a disadvantage, is waging a tariff war on China, which has caused many US factories to de-localize to catch up with cheaper labor and a manipulated Chinese currency; and has threatened the EU with severe consequences if the imbalances in trade -especially with Germany- are not tackled. He told NATO and the US' Asian and Arab allies (not protectorates) that they should sh...
