Join the panel this week as they branch out into a game of Photosynthesis! Photosynthesis, designed by Hjalmar Hach, was first published by Blue Orange Games in 2017. It was nominated for several 2017 Board Game Geek Awards, including Most Innovative and Best Family Game. Photosynthesis won several awards, including the 2017 Board Game Geek Golden Geek Award for Best Artwork and Presentation, the 2018 Mensa Selects Award, and the 2018 UK Games Expo People's Choice Award. Episode Summary: This week, the panel explores the green canopy of the Photosynthesis board game by Blue Orange Games; a gaming world where seedlings, saplings, and mighty trees vie for the sun. We discuss our personal strategies to master the lifecycle of the trees. We then focus on the friction between harvesting big trees or using them to collect sun points. We also explore the benefits of controlling the board's center and maximizing the outside edge. How can turn order, tree placement, and the growth stages influence your score? So let's get ready to grow some trees, harvest them for points, and throw each other shade along the way. London's ageing underground network is creaking and groaning. It can no longer keep up with the exponentially increasing demand of daily commuters and rising tourist numbers to the UK's capital. It's time to scrap it all and start anew and Transport for London has hired you to redesign everything. It won't be easy to optimize the interchanges for a better flow, provide stops to as many tourist sites as possible and take advantage of the tunnels passing underneath the Thames. The first station has been built and now it's up to you to create the Next Station: London by Matthew Dunstan from Blue Orange Games. Chris and Wendy review two VERY different games this episode. Shaky Manor, by Blue Orange Games, is an adorable little dexterity game about sliding different meeples around a little cardboard house. The other is Tapestry, a civilization themed game with a fantastic presentation by Stonemaier Games. How do these two fare? Come give a listen.
Chris and Wendy review a double-feature episode, both review copies sent to us: Planet by Blue Orange Games with a quirky bit of presentation, and Abandon All Artichokes by Gamewright games. These are two lighter games that can be great for families. Check out our thoughts on these two games. And, check out the Loveland Foundation.

Oh you... don't give me that look. I know that look, you're wondering where we've been but you're not going to ask. Power move. Respect. But... We can't go out like suckers so we're not about to spill those beans. We could be here awhile. Okay, well played, we'll tell you what we've been up to BUT only in the form of this 2+ hour podcast! Ha! Who has the upper hand now, huh? Alright I guess I'll tell you a bit about what's in the episode BUT ONLY a taste! We talk a ton of games including: Dark Domains, Everdell, Isle Of Skye, Smallworld and many more! Plus we talk about a handful more games from awesome publisher Blue Orange Games! On top of all that we've got some Meepleofmadness Music Minute selections AND a silly IRL segment! All that and one mega blooper that brought the episode to a screeching halt! So... what have you been up to?

A handful of small trees stand at the edge of a clearing. The wind blows gently as the sun starts to rise in the east. You can almost see the trees reaching for the light, as they slowly convert the sunshine into sugars, which is used to grow and produce seeds. Each species will have different survival strategies, but all trees have a natural urge to disperse their seeds towards the middle of the clearing, where there is less competition and more fertile ground. However, it won't be long until the many saplings have filled the available space and the fight for sunshine will become more and more intense. In the meantime, some trees will have grown old and will die, freeing up precious ground for seeds to settle and hopefully germinate. It is for you and up to three of your friends to look after your rootstock in Photosynthesis by Blue Orange Games.
