The Tiger Tamer who went to sea, from HistoryExtra, is the story of one remarkable Victorian man who lived the life of a dozen men. His adventures as a global seafarer and as a circus clown, showman and yes, tiger tamer would be fascinating enough. However, he was also a celebrated athlete, and Britain's original long-distance wheelbarrow pedestrian. He pushed a wheelbarrow from Lands End to John O'Groats in 1879 but sadly missed the great wheelbarrow craze of 1887 because he was sailing the high seas. In this six-part series, David Musgrove reveals the untold story of this Victorian influencer, Bob Carlisle, and chats to a range of experts to find out what his life tells us about broader themes in 19th and early 20th century history – we cover the rise of mass media, the Temperance movement, enterainment and celebrity culture, the changing face of global trade and technology, the Edwardian healthy living movement, and yes, the noble sport of wheelbarrow-pushing. Did you know what a butterfly kiss was before this song? Did you ever figure it out? Have you received them or given them out?In 1997, Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace) by Bob Carlisle went sicko mode in minivans across America. Carlisle cut his teeth with the band Allies in the 80s and enjoyed a modest CCM solo career in the early 90s. However, this song shot the 40-year-old Boltonesque  crooner into the national consciousness with a loving, soul-baring tribute to his daughter's innocence. The album knocked the SPICE GIRLS out of the number one spot in the summer of 1997.John and I discuss our memories of the song, and we delicately touch upon the obvious: Buttefly Kisses  is weird. Are the other songs like this on the album? Will John and I talk about them at all? How does it relate to the Evangelical messages surrounding the family at the time? And is Bob Carlisle the inspiration for the main character in the Michael Keaton movie Jack Frost?

Scott grew up in a musical family. His dad played stand up bass in a big band, and could also play a little piano by ear. His mother is a skilled pianist and organist. Put those genes together and you've got a recipe for a unique blend of traditional musical sensibilities, mixed with intuitive gifts for hearing and comprehending all facets of the musical picture. Scott fought traditional piano lessons, because he didn't like to read music. When his teacher would play a piece before he learned it, he always had an easier time getting motivated to work on it, especially if it was pleasing to his ears. After quitting traditional lessons, Scott spent a few years pursuing the normal pre-teen stuff, baseball, basketball, video games, etc. It's important to mention that as a kid he was definitely also a radio junkie. Scott had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented artists in his career. In the past he worked with Bob Carlisle, Allies, Susan Ashton, Mark Schultz, and Steven Curtis Chapman. More recently, he was the Musical Director and keyboardist for Kenny Loggins, and still occasionally plays concerts with him. Scott played several shows with Richard Marx, and currently is touring with Carrie Underwood. Scott also works as a musical engraver. My most notable clients are Kelly Clarkson and David Foster. He also owns ClassicTributeBands.com, a collective of legacy tribute shows including 12 Against Nature (Steely Dan), Make Me Smile (Chicago), and Live From Ventura Boulevard (West Coast music '75-'85). youtube.com/sasheriff is the link for his main page. youtube.com/lfvboulevard is the link for the Live From Ventura Boulevard page youtube.com/12againstnature is the steely dan tribute youtube.com/makemesmileband1 Chicago tribute.

He founded Save American Ministries in 1993 earning him the Valley Forge Freedom Foundation Award for significant contribution to the cause of Faith and Freedom. FROM AGES PAST to the present, men, like boys before them, have sought to become "King of the mountain," "lord of the hill."  And it is in this simple metaphor that the ultimate meaning and direction of history and prophecy is made manifest, revealing the mystery of the world's rapidly-approaching and greatest battle for KING of the Mountain. HERE IS THE HINGE OF HISTORY.  All other issues and pursuits that consume the passions and purposes of mankind ultimately turn on the eternal question: "who will be king of the mountain?"  This is the ultimate question of history which the power brokers and peoples of this planet must answer, both for time and eternity. HISTORY'S FINAL BATTLE for KING of the Mountain will be a no-holds-barred, winner-take-all, global conflagration.  It is, and always has been, and will be The Eternal, Epic, End-Time Battle for the Temple Mount and for the souls of men. Who, then, will be KING of the Mountain?  Join this amazing journey from the Tower of Babel to the Temple Mount and from Creation to the Coming of Messiah.  THE BOOK IS IN! Bob Carlisle has been singing all his life. Ever since the age of 7, his first band at age 11, his time with Allies, his solo career, his work in mainstream music, and the juggernaut song that still plays at most weddings, “Butterfly Kisses”, you’ve more than likely heard the voice, and now you get to meet the man behind it.
