El congreso EUBIM 2024 tenía una sorpresa reservada para nosotros. Durante una jornada entera dos equipos de cinco profesionales BIM nos hemos embarcado en generar modelos enriquecidos con información para difusión de BuildingSMART. Lo hemos hecho mediante una competición abierta, donde sólo podía quedar uno, el primer Open BIMathon buildingSMART Spain No es ningún secreto que los miembros de BIMrras somos fieles defensores de todo lo que tenga que ver con código abierto. No sólo en lo que a software respecta, sino también a todo lo que tenga que ver con la I del BIM. Ese compromiso se materializa de diversas formas. Por ejemplo, organizando el Grupo de Usuarios BIM de Galicia. O poniendo en marcha la edición local de la Global Game Jam en Pontevedra. Así que cuando BuildingSMART España puso en marcha el primer Open BIMathon los de BIMrras teníamos que estar ahí. Llamamos a rebato en BIMrras Insiders, y cómo no, encontramos inmediatamente el respaldo de María López de Bustos y Marco Antonio Vara Tuñón. This latest podcast was recorded in Oslo, Norway at the 2023 buildingSmart International Standards Summit, the annual gathering for all those leading the development and adoption of open data and digital systems across the global infrastructure sector.Clearly the built environment sector faces many challenges such as the need to raise productivity, drive towards net zero and boost the economic and social value gained from the vast public spend being committed by governments around the world.The use of data and digital systems, underpinned by new tools such as artificial intelligence and a new ecosystem of digital twins are set to become critical in the race to deliver the more effective, efficient, useful and sustainable infrastructure assets needed to secure the future. Open data is data that can be freely used, re-used and redistributed by anyone, unencumbered by the constraints of software vendors of assets owner requirement is central to making this happen. His focus on automation of repetitive tasks has led to the production of more consistent and superior models in Building Information Modeling (BIM). La organización que dirige Sergio Muñoz en su capítulo hispano ha defendido postulados en contra de las más potentes corrientes del mercado que, a día de hoy, muchos asumimos como el camino correcto. Today you'll also hear from Patrick MacLeamy, the former CEO of HOK. During his 50-year tenure at HOK, MacLeamy witnessed the firm's growth from a single midwestern office to 27 locations across the globe offering architecture, interiors, engineering, planning and more. MacLeamy joined HOK St. Louis in 1967, after which he helped establish the firm's San Francisco outpost in 1970 - later becoming managing principal of that office.  He joined HOK's executive committee in 1995 and was named COO five years later.  In 2003, HOK shareholders elected MacLeamy Chief Executive Officer. He led the firm for 13 years.  In 2016, MacLeamy chose a new CEO for HOK, remaining as Chairman for one more year before retiring —or as he likes to say, “repurposing.”  MacLeamy is also the Chairman of buildingSMART International, which works to achieve open standards for the exchange of digital information in the building and infrastructure industries.  He was a founding member of buildingSMART, in 1994. This episode welcomes Mr. Patrick MacLeamy, Architect, Author, Chairman, Fellow AIA, and so much more. This podcast truly inspires. Patrick grew up in an industrial town in Southern Illinois, and went to architecture school at the University of Illinois. Starting as a project designer at HOK Architects, then a single office in St Louis, Patrick rose to CEO of the company during a career that spanned 50 years. Patrick interviewed with and initially worked under HOK's Gyo Obata, (the "O") architect, the son of painter Chiura Obata. In 1955, Mr. Obata co-founded  HOK with George Hellmuth, and George Kassabaum. Patrick discusses the foundational structure for HOK and how it was fundamental to their growth and success. In addition, we get into the formation of buildingSMART , the worldwide authority driving transformation of the built environment through creation & adoption of open, international BIM standards. We talk about "the MacCleamy Curve" and how it relates to BIM.There's also formative discussion around principles for how to successfully manage and grow a professional services firm. Today's guest should need no introduction, but you may not have heard of him because the firm he led as CEO from 2003 to 2017, one of the largest and most successful architecture firms in the world, doesn't revolve around the fame of one individual. Our guest is Patrick MacLeamy, former CEO of the firm HOK. MacLeamy just released a book on his experience in leadership and business through his time at HOK titled: Designing a World-Class Architecture Firm: The People, Stories and Strategies Behind HOK. MacLeamy is also the Chairman of buildingSMART International, which works to achieve open standards for the exchange of digital information in the building and infrastructure industries. He was a founding member of buildingSMART, in 1994. He spent 50 years at HOK, which grew into one of the largest architecture and engineering firms in the world during his time there. MacLeamy rose from Junior Designer to CEO of HOK and witnessed the firm’s growth from a single midwestern office to 27 locations across the globe offering architecture, interiors, engineering, planning and more. MacLeamy joined HOK St. Louis in 1967, after which he helped establish the firm’s San Francisco outpost in 1970 - later becoming managing principal of that office. He joined HOK’s executive committee in 1995 and was named COO five years later. In 2003, HOK shareholders elected MacLeamy Chief Executive Officer. He led the firm for 13 years. A medida que el Building Information Modelling ha evolucionado, los alcances y posibilidades de la metodología se han abierto a un abanico que se extiende a todas las fases del ciclo de vida de un proyecto o una construcción. Justamente este crecimiento ha introducido un creciente catálogo de herramientas que van desde usos generales hasta los más específicos, en áreas como: modelado, gestión de información, captura de la realidad, gestión del activo, etc. Si bien este crecimiento representa mayor capacidad de elegir las herramientas que empleamos en nuestros flujos de trabajo, también trae consigo dudas y retos acerca de cómo lograr la interoperabilidad entre ellas, sin afectar la eficiencia del proyecto. Es allí donde entra el concepto del OpenBIM, término acuñado por la BuildingSMART, una comunidad internacional sin ánimo de lucro, enfocada en crear y desarrollar medios de trabajo digital abiertos de trabajo para la industria AECO. Episodios previos 010 Entendiendo el ifcAtributos: Son intrínsecos al formato IFC.No podemos crearlos, sólo usar los definidos en el estándar IFC.Muchas de ellos son para temas "informáticos" internos del formato.Los que más nos interesa tener controlados son Nombre y Descripción y los relacionados con información general del proyecto.PropiedadesPodemos crear todas las que queramos.Ya existen muchas oficiales de la BuildingSmart.Van siempre dentro de un grupo. Properties Sets.023 Exportando a ifcTres claves para exportar correctamente:Geometría (tanto forma como ubicación).Clasificación: “Capas” (Entidades y tipos / Categorías y subcategorías). Parámetros. Exportar parámetros: líneas generales El gran reto de exportar información es la ausencia total de documentación oficial explicando trucos, configuraciones preprogramadas, atajos, prioridades, etc. Es un mundo de leer foros y mucho prueba y error.https://sourceforge.net/p/ifcexporter/discussion/general/https://sourceforge.net/p/ifcexporter/wiki/browse_pages/https://github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifcManual Revit IFC Español.pdf El exportador ya tiene mapeado algunos atributos y propiedades IFC con parámetros internos de Revit. Los exporta sinque nosotros hagamos nada. ¿Cuales? Leer el punto anterior ;).Revit "conoce" y soporta (las exporta automáticamente si nosotros las creamos) de forma automática algunas propiedades IFC y sus correspondientes Psets:Unas 150 de 2000 aproximadamente.Para saber cuales, hay un archivo de parámetros compartidos:IFC Shared Parameters-RevitIFCBuiltIn_ALL.txtIFC Shared Parameters-RevitIFCBuiltIn-Type_ALL.txtParecen pocas pero son las más usadas.El resto tendremos que exportarlos como si fueran propiedades personalizadas de Psets personalizados o mapearlas.Todas las opciones de exportación están en el mismo sitio: pestaña Property Sets de la configuración del exportador IFC. Exportando - nivel fácil Apto para:El estándar IFC no es tu prioridad.Trabajas en entorno Autodesk, pero justo tienes un proyecto donde un colaborador trabaja con Tekla o CYPE, y sobre todo quieres aprovechar "el 3D" como referencia y para detección de interferencias.En la pestaña Property Sets de la configuración del exportador IFC, debemos activar Export Revit property sets.Conseguimos todos los parámetros de Revit con Nombres de revit y el "Property Sets" personalizados que coinciden con los grupos de parámetros de Revit.Tenemos toda la información que hay en el modelo y ordenada de una forma familiar.No estamos siguiendo el estándar IFC. Exportando - nivel intermedio Aquí ya necesitamos algo de conocimientos del estándar IFC:Meternos en la web de BuildingSmart a bucear por el esquema IFC.Conocer las propiedades relacionadas con IfcSite, IfcBuilding, etc.Apto para:Estoy en un proyecto donde hay requisitos "open BIM" y tenemos que entregar un ifc "decente" en cuanto a parámetros.No es lo habitual en mis proyectos, normalmente sólo me pasa en algunos proyectos públicos.El plan BIM de Chile lo podríamos cumplir con este nivel.Cada vez que vayamos a crear un parámetro en una familia, en el proyecto, en una tabla... pensar primero si puede que esté entre las propiedades oficiales del IFC. Caso A: es uno de los 150 soportados automáticamente. Si existe en el IFC, y es uno de los 150 soportados directamente por el exportador: sólo tenemos que usar el nombre exacto cuando creemos el parámetro. Lo más cómodo es cogerlo directamente del archivo de parámetros compartidos.En la configuración del exportador tenemos que activar Export IFC Common property sets.Cuidado: si haces cosas raras como usar una propiedad de las ventanas en un muro, una propiedad de tipo en un ejemplar, posiblemente no se exporte. Tampoco se va a exportar si la dejas en blanco. Caso B: no es de los soportados automáticamente Independientemente de que hayamos creado el parámetro con un nombre "oficial de IFC" o no, el parámetro no se va a exportar, pero...Podemos crear una tabla de planificación.Llamamos a la tabla con el nombre del Property Set que queramos (oficial o inventado por nosotros según sea el caso).Agregamos los parámetros que queramos a la tabla.Si el nombre del parámetro no nos gusta, o no es el estándar, lo podemos cambiar en el encabezado de la tabla y se exportará con ese. En la configuración del exportador tenemos que activar Export schedules as property sets y Export only schedules containing IFC, Pset, or Common in the title.Cuidado con exportar parámetros personalizados en Property sets oficiales, funciona pero ya no respetaríamos el estándar IFC.Es la forma más fácil de exportar parámetros personalizados sin tener que exportar todos los de revit en bloque. Exportando - nivel experto Me recuerda a Xareo, el jefe final de Quake 3 (momento friki) Apto para:Usuarios avanzados de estándares abiertos que quieran controlar cada parámetro que se exporta y con qué información se exporta.Exportan archivos IFC en todos sus proyectos y con un nivel de cumplimiento del estándar IFC alto.También deberíamos crear todos los parámetros que podamos con nombres oficiales de IFC, pero...Podemos exportar parámetros con nombres de Revit a uno oficial de IFC, o uno creado por nosotros pero sin tener que crear tablas.¿Cómo? con dos archivos txt de mapeo de parámetros.No voy a entrar en el detalle de que hayq ue escribir en lso archivos txt para mapear, es lo típico de tabulaciones, punto y coma, etcDejo enlaces a dos webs que lo explican muy bien:BIM blog del estudio birtánico Bond Bryanbim42.com del francés Simon Moreau Export user defined property sets IfcElementType e IfcElement para agregar un parámetro a todas las categorías de golpe. Export parameter mapping table Solo sirve para Atributos y propiedades oficiales de IFC, para el resto habría que usar la opción anterior.Tampoco funciona is mapeamos un parámetro de tipo número en uno de tipo texto, por ejemplo.Si no queremos "remapear" sino tener un campo específico, también podemos crear directamente un parámetro con el nombre IFC, por ejemplo:El exportador saca el valor del parámetro nombre del nombre de la familia más el nombre del tipo. Si creamos un parámetro IfcName, podemos poner el nombre que nosotros queramos. Nota final Quedan algunos detalles que tratar sobre información que exportar a IFC, como:Zonas: https://sourceforge.net/p/ifcexporter/wiki/Exporting%20Zones/ Sustituir parámetros de cantidades de habitaciones con el prefijo IfcQty. https://www.bim42.com/2018/03/ifc-for-revit-2/ Cómo exportar el sistema de clasificación y que pasa si quiero exportar varios.Todo esto son cosas que irán puliendo según vayan llegando a ese nivel experto. ¿Quieres que responda a tus preguntas en el podcast?
