Pippa Hudson speaks to motoring journalist Ernest Page in this week’s Car Talk feature, comparing two of South Africa’s most popular SUVs — the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Everest. The conversation unpacks how these rivals stack up in terms of comfort, technology, reliability, and off-road capability, and what that means for everyday drivers and families. They also explore shifting buyer priorities in the SUV market, before Ernest weighs in on a listener question about the Peugeot 2008 and the brand’s overall value proposition. Ferraris go pretty fast. It's crucial that drivers be able to see out the windows when they're doing 200 MPH. But that's just not the case with a recent batch of luxury sports cars the Italian automaker built for the U.S. So, they're being recalled. The company sent out an alert for 80 12Cilindri models, which retail for around $500,000, because the windows are too tinted. Earlier this month, Ferrari said it was alerted to the issue with the black rear and side windows on certain units, which feature more tint than what's allowed in some parts of the U.S.As the automaker pointed out in its recall, automobile glazing with less than 70% light transmittance can impair the driver's visibility and lead to a crash.According to Tint Wiz, many U.S. states are totally fine with tint levels with less than 70% light transmittance. But markets like Florida and Illinois set their legal window tint levels much lower.#Ferrari #Recall #LuxuryCars #Supercar #CarRecall #AutoNews #Automotive #SportsCars #CarProblems #FastCars #CarCulture #LuxuryLifestyle #ExoticCars #Driving #CarEnthusiast #VehicleSafety #CarTech #Speed #HighPerformance #AutoIndustry #Engineering #Innovation #CarNews #USRegulations #CarLife

On Techradio this week, we're talking about the tech you live with every day — and a few surprises you might not see coming. From smart TVs that may be watching more than you realize to what's expected to make headlines at CES 2026, there's plenty to unpack. We'll also cover two costly car warnings: why spilling water in your EV can lead to expensive repairs, and how rodents are chewing through vehicle wiring at alarming rates. Plus, Apple quietly discontinued 17 products this year, Firefox is officially leaning into AI, and a new generation of headphones doubles as hearing aids. And as always, we'll tell you what's streaming and where — including this week's top picks in streaming.
On this episode of GetConnected, we're digging into three big questions: How do you stay safe on the road, stretch your money abroad, and trust the tech inside your next car? First, we look at your wallet on the go with June Yuan, Product Lead at Wise. New data from Wise shows ATM fees in some popular destinations have exploded — up over 1,300% in Vietnam and 3,500% in Indonesia — based on nearly 10 million ATM transactions worldwide. June explains what's driving the spike, how exchange rates and per-transaction limits quietly drain your budget, and practical ways Canadians can avoid getting gouged while travelling this holiday season. Brandon Sturgis, Global Product Manager at BFGoodrich, joins us to unpack the latest in tire technology and safety. From winter grip and stopping distances to how modern tire design impacts EVs and SUVs, we'll talk about the science in that rubber keeping you on the road. Finally, we look at the future of crash-free driving with Åsa Haglund, Head of Volvo Cars Global Safety Centre. She shares how Volvo is using AI, advanced sensors, and 50+ years of crash data to engineer a world without collisions — from the Multi-Adaptive Safety Belt that adjusts to each passenger, to occupant sensing systems that help ensure no one is left behind in a hot car. Road safety, smarter money, and AI-driven car tech — it's all coming up on GetConnected.
This week: Jeff Bezos is back in startup mode (sort of) with Project Prometheus — a $6.2 billion AI-for-the-physical-world venture that instantly became one of the most talked-about new companies in tech. We dig into what his return to the CEO title really means, why the company’s location is still a mystery, and how this echoes the era when Bezos was regularly launching big bets from Seattle. Then we look at Amazon’s latest real-world experiment: package-return kiosks popping up inside Goodwill stores around the Seattle region. It’s a small pilot, but it brings back memories of the early days when Amazon’s oddball experiments seemed to appear out of nowhere. And finally…Todd makes the case for upgrading his 2007 Toyota Camry with CarPlay, Android Auto, and a backup camera — while John questions the logic of sinking thousands into a beloved older car. All that, plus a mystery Microsoft shirt, a little Seattle nostalgia, and a look ahead to next week’s podcast collaboration with Me, Myself and AI from MIT Sloan Management Review.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
