Other cities in the United States are holding their own Holiday Brass Concerts to help support the ever-growing International Women's Brass Conference. In 1996, Ms. Slaughter founded Monarch Brass, an all women's brass ensemble, which has toured in the United States and Europe to critical acclaim. Susan appears regularly in area recitals and religious programs, and has been a frequent soloist with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, as well as with several other ensembles throughout the country. Her work is represented on a number of Saint Louis Symphony releases, including the highly acclaimed recordings of Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Barber's Capricorn Concerto, and most recently, John Adams' Doctor Atomic. Many of these and other recordings have been nominated for or won Grammy Awards. Susan has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Kathleen Battle, Christine Brewer, Doc Severinsen, Al Hirt in duets, amongst others. She has served on the faculty of the Grand Teton Orchestra Seminar and the National Orchestra Institute, and has been lecture/recitalist at the International Trumpet Guild, while also serving on its board of directors. Since the 1980's, Susan has performed the National Anthem and “God Bless America” on an annual basis for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club and, at the invitation of the Baseball Commissioner Fay Vincent, performed the National Anthem at Game 3 of the 1991 World Series, played in Atlanta between the Braves and Twins (link). Archbishop Aquila delivers a homily from the pulpit of the Cathedral Basilica on Palm Sunday 2025. Holy Week is not a celebration of the past; it is an active invitation from God to approach the cross and take real time to enter into the greatest mystery of our Faith.
One of the parishes Flannery O'Connor attended in her lifetime was the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, GA. Joining us at the Cathedral Basilica during the weekend of her 100th birthday celebration is Fr. Damian Ference, author of multiple books inspired by the author. From the pulpit of the Cathedral Basilica, Archbishop illuminates the meaning behind Sunday's Readings: God's ways are not our own. Our faith in Him cannot be like a faith in anything of this world, and no matter how strange His word may seem, God will always follow through in ways we cannot even imagine.
From the pulpit of the Cathedral Basilica in Denver, Archbishop Aquila delivers a homily on the temptation of Christ in the desert. What can we learn from these passages? What voice do we follow and believe: the voice of the devil, or the voice of the one true God?
On Saturday March 1st in the Cathedral Basilica in Downtown Denver, the Church welcomed 3 new deacons, ordained to the diaconate with intention towards the priesthood. Archbishop Aquila adresses them with words that apply alike to all people: Follow Jesus. He alone truly knows us.
From the pulpit of the Cathedral Basilica in Downtown Denver on the 7th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Archbishop Aquila reiterates Jesus's message in the Gospel reading, a simple teaching too often dismissed or explained away: "Love your enemies. Pray for your enemies." Christ speaks directly into the soul of the individual. Seek God first, and He will give you the grace to love others.

If you're praying for your children to come back to the faith, never stop! Who knows... they could one day become a priest! On a recent Morning Air podcast, John Morales had a chat with Fr. Mac Hill, sharing his inspiring conversion story. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Fr. Mac grew up in a solid Catholic family but veered off course during his high school and college days. High School & College: Fr. Mac was your typical high school jock, more into his reputation and partying than his faith. He went to the University of Florida, diving headfirst into the college party scene. But instead of fun, it left him feeling empty and lost. The Wake-Up Call: Things hit rock bottom the night before spring break when he was drunk and crashed his truck, which ended him in jail. In his cell, he had a massive epiphany, realizing he was on a dangerous path and desperately reached out to God. Reconnecting with Faith: A twist of fate: just before his arrest, an old classmate invited him to a Bible study. After his release, he went and discovered a group of passionate, faith-filled college students. This kickstarted his journey back to faith, with a heartfelt confession and a deep experience of God's mercy, "turning his shame into a hunger for the Eucharist." The Big Decision: Initially, Fr. Mac brushed off thoughts of becoming a priest, even dating his "dream girl" while figuring things out. But through prayer and a consecration to Jesus through Mary, he found peace and clarity about his calling. He entered St. John Vianney College Seminary in 2014 and was ordained on May 15, 2021. Life as Fr. Mac: Now, he's the parochial vicar at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, loving every day as a new adventure with the Lord, full of joy and peace. Fr. Mac's journey from wild party nights to a devoted priest shows just how powerful God's grace can be. It's a reminder that no matter how far we stray, it's never too late to turn back and find true peace and purpose.

In his homily on the feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, the seat of the Pope's authority, Archbishop Aquila preached on the abundant life Christ desires for all, especially those enslaved by addictions. This Mass, celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on November 9, 2023, coincides with the release of Archbishop Aquila's latest Pastoral Letter, "That They Might Have Life," which synthesizes Church teaching, principles of the natural law and recent, relevant scientific studies to empower Catholics to dialogue with society on substance use and abuse. Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph Signia by Hilton San Jose 其他特色歷史建築:San Jose Museum of Art、San Jose Civic、Westin San Jose、Bank of Italy Building、California Theater。

In the ancient Syro-Malabar Church of south India, clergy who try to change the liturgy do so at their peril. At St Mary's Cathedral Basilica in Ernakulam last December, a long-standing dispute over whether the priest should face the people led to scenes in which protestors attacked clergy in the middle of the service, sending the sacred vessels crashing to the ground. As a result, the cathedral was closed – and remains so, six months later. This liturgy war is a hideous embarrassment for the Vatican, because the Syro-Malabar Church is the second largest Eastern Church in Communion with Rome. Traditionally dated back to St Thomas the Apostle's mission to India, it has four millions members worldwide. Members are known for their missionary zeal – the Syro-Malabars are one of the few thriving Catholic communities in Britain – but also passions that in the last few years have spilled over into violence, allegations of corruption and hunger strikes. At the root of the dispute is an attempt by Rome to impose a uniform liturgy on congregations that bitterly disagree about whether the priest should face East or West during the Holy Qurbana, the Syro-Malabar name for the Mass. Bishops have been burned in effigy. My guest in this episode of Holy Smoke is Luke Coppen, senior correspondent of the Pillar and one the few journalists outside India who has been following the escalation of the Christian world's most spectacular liturgy war. If you thought the Vatican's attempt to crush the Latin Mass was a nasty business, just wait until you hear what Luke has to say about the situation in India, which the Pope seems powerless to control.

According to a Politico report, some Democrats are starting to suspect President Joe Biden may not run for reelection in 2024. The article explains that governors Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Phil Murphy (D-NJ) and senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) are all preparing to run in the event Biden “bows out.” 4:10pm- On Thursday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited East Palestine, Ohio—weeks after the area experienced a catastrophic train derailment that resulted in the release of toxic chemicals. While speaking to the press, Sec. Buttigieg blamed Trump-era policies for the causing the derailment. However, National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy debunked that claim while appearing on CNN—explaining that “even with electronically controlled pneumatic brakes, the derailment would have occurred, the fire would have ensued, and the five vinyl chloride tank cars would still have to be vented and burned.” 4:15pm- Rich somehow weaves former President Benjamin Harrison into the conversation for the second day in a row…what are the odds? 4:20pm- While appearing on his “Verdict” podcast, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) asked, “what in the hell does Pete Buttigieg have to do to get fired?” Sen. He writes: “disruption of the supply of energy imports from Russia is supposed to have highlighted the necessity of developing wind and solar (and now hydrogen) as a local alternative. Except that these energy sources are more costly and less stable than fossil-fuel or nuclear workhorses. They are worse for the environment once one considers the mess made while mining and refining the rare-earth minerals that go into renewable tech. And since China controls much of the global supply chain for those minerals, green energy merely replicates in Asia the form of energy dependence Europe now loudly bemoans regarding Russia.” Read the full article at: https://www.wsj.com/articles/awakened-by-ukraine-europe-wont-get-out-of-bed-energy-secuirty-russia-invasion-war-renewables-oil-1601cb50?mod=hp_opin_pos_6#cxrecs_s 5:05pm- Jimmy Failla—stand-up comedian & Fox News Radio host—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his up-coming opportunity to guest-host “Gutfeld!” on Fox News. Why is the Biden Administration making these decisions unilaterally? Gabbard asks, “when are elected officials going to take a stand and fulfill their constitutional responsibilities?” The United States must stop inching closer and closer towards a direct, militaristic confrontation with Russia. 6:40pm- Gordon Chang—Columnist & Author of “The Coming Collapse of China”—to discuss reports that China is now calling for the initiation of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Should Chinese officials be believed when they say they're willing to negotiate a cease-fire in Ukraine?

Learn all about the great city of Saint Louis and few funeral mishaps that Joni may have committed.
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is definitely worth a trip. It was there that I saw, in 20foot high lettering, YOUR FAITH IS IN VAIN. I was unfamiliar with our verse today and my first thought was how harsh the designers of that dome were. But it wasn't the designers that were HARSH. It was Paul! It is him making an argument to the Corinthians. He's saying, if Christ wasn't raised then:we have a false saviorour preaching is in vainYOUR FAITH IS IN VAIN (thank you Cathedral Basilica)Your teachers are lyingthe power of sin is unbrokenthe dead are damned andChristians are the most PATHETIC people in the worldIf Christ was not raised, everything we have crumbles. It is the keystone of our faith. The Cathedral had it right. Listen 7 minutes please. bewithme.us

In this episode, the dogs talk in-person at Rob's house in Maryville, IL (1:50). They share highlights from the 2022 Three North Hangout which include, but are not limited to: a steak dinner (2:35), the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis (2:10), the Gateway to the West (10:40), a concelebrated funeral Mass (15:51), and Connor's inaugural viewing of Babette's Feast (2:38). Mike and Connor gush over Rob's hospitality (23:00) and they all discuss the importance of hierarchies (25:45) and order (36:40). Quotes: “Things are always greater than we can initially perceive.” (Mike, 12:35) "Oh, how you will enchant the angels!" (from Babette's Feast, 14:55) “In the end, what's most essential about this guy is that he is a soul loved by Christ. That he believes in Him. That he will go with Him when he gets called.” (Connor, 17:50) "If sins are like garbage, then the priest is like God's garbage-man." (Fr. Mike Schmitz, 27:00) “All is grace. Everything is possible. Reality is actually more wonderful than what is apparently true.” (Connor, 33:30) “Christ reveals a hierarchy of Love.” (Mike, 38:18) “The priesthood is really meant to give your life away for the good of everyone else.” (Mike, 38:40) “There is an orderedness to the table, the fact that they are there in their places. They are disposed to receive reality and its goodness.” (Connor, 42:15) "But the moment comes when our eyes are opened, and we see and realize that grace is infinite. Grace, my friends, demands nothing from us but that we shall await it with confidence and acknowledge it in gratitude. Grace, brothers, makes no conditions and singles out none of us in particular; grace takes us all to its bosom and proclaims general amnesty."
