Big Q & DC recap the news topics listed below on today's stream. We recap the Pelicans match against the Portland Trailblazers in the SKC. Plus Pels/Grizzlies match up preview & more. (Summary) (AP) CJ McCollum scored 23 points in 29 minutes against his former team and the New Orleans Pelicans moved closer to clinching a home play-in game with a 127-94 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night.Jonas Valanciunas, who returned from a sore right ankle, scored 14 points in 21 minutes for the Pelicans, who were without leading scorer Brandon Ingram (right hamstring), but wound up not needing any starters on the floor for as many as 30 minutes against a reeling Blazers team that had a patchwork lineup and lost its ninth straight. The victory, combined with San Antonio's loss at Minnesota, left New Orleans needing either one more victory or one more Spurs loss to lock up a home play-in game on Wednesday.McCollum appeared to hurt his right hand, with which he shoots, when he we fouled and crashed to the floor in the third quarter. But after missing two free throws and a subsequent 3, he remained in game for nearly eight more minutes, hitting his fifth 3 of the game and a finger roll, before checking out for good.Reserve center Willy Hernangomez had 17 points and 14 rebounds for New Orleans. Larry Nance Jr., sent from Portland to New Orleans as part of the trade that also brought McCollum to the Pelicans, scored 12 points, as did rookie Trey Murphy III.Reserve guard Jose Alvarado also contributed with nine assists and four steals for the Pelicans, who led by 13 at halftime and by 25 after three and continued to widen the lead down the stretch.Drew Eubanks scored 20 points and CJ Elleby had 17 points for Portland, but the Blazers were sloppy with the ball and outworked around the basket. Portland committed 22 turnovers, leading to 36 Pelicans points. New Orleans also turned 23 offensive rebounds into 33 second-chance points and outrebounded the Blazers 49-27.McCollum had 15 points and Valanciunas 14 in the first half, when New Orleans led by as many as 15 points.#pelicansflytogether**********************************************************************PELICAN POST REPORT MERCH!GET THE NEW MAGNUM B.I. It was a tough week to be a Blazers fan, but we podcast on. With as bad as things were last week, could Blazers fans take a full season tank for a rebuild? What must it be like to be CJ Elleby, Trendon Watford or Brandon Williams when you are getting blown out night after night? Does Brandon Williams have something that former potential back up point guards haven't? And lastly, is it possible that Utah Jazz fans have it worse than Blazers fans do right now? All-Star Weekend had a strong Friday night with the Rising Stars game and a great capper with the big game on Sunday night but the middle day of the league's midseason showcase is a mess. Are there lessons learned from the rest of All Star Weekend that could be applied to the dunk contest and the three-point shootout to make them less wack? Maybe?Clyde Drexler offered some insight into the end of his Portland Trail Blazers career and how it might apply to Damian Lillard's place with the team at this juncture. This was probably overblown on the internet but it says more about Clyde's place with the fan base than anything about Drexler-Lillard parallels or unsolicited advice from one legend to another. Finally, the end of the Blazers rotation is filled with young guys with uncertain futures. Do Elijah Hughes, Trendon Watford, Greg Brown III and CJ Elleby have a future in Portland and what have we seen from them over the past few weeks that could suggest their place in the NBA moving forward. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they go over Wednesday night's game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers... a game that saw a healthy Lebron James and Anthony Davis get outplayed by a built on the fly, young scrappy Portland team, who earned the 107-105 win. After an abysmal first half from Anfernee Simons, he came out ROARING to start the third quarter, dropping 25 points the final two frames and 29 points on the evening, Simons will get top billing but the role players, heck the deeeeeeep role players, pushed up in their pecking orders due to trades; CJ Elleby, Greg Brown III, KELJIN BLEVINS. All delivered some of their best performances as young pros. Beyond a fun win over the Lakers, join the guys to take a look at the upcoming trade deadline that's only 14 hours away. For the second time in two nights the Blazers fall at home, this time in a very clear fashion as the Dallas Mavericks come into Portland and housed the Blazers 132-112. The Blazers haven't added anyone to the roster that has anything close to answer for Luka Doncic or Kristaps Porzingis and it showed. The Mavs as a team shot 55 percent from the floor and 44 percent from distance, which is going to end up in a Blazers loss more often than not. The evening wasn't a total loss as Anfernee Simons rebounded well after his poor showing last night against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a sterling 23 points and 7 assists, while the bench group of Ben McLemore, Trendon Watford and CJ Elleby continue to find ways to impact the game on a nightly basis. Hop on the stream with Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at tonight's game and get you ready for the Blazers' upcoming 4-game road trip! The Portland Trail Blazers wrapped up a six-game road trip at 4-2 with an impressive win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. The Blazers built a huge first half lead and then held on in the final three minutes to close out a road 12-day road trip, playing their best basketball of the season. Go figure. Plus, Damian Lillard spoke to local media on Saturday for the first time since he had surgery on his abdomen to discuss his health post-surgery, how long the injury has been an issue and how the play of his teammates will inform his decision to come back this season. Finally, Trail Blazers broadcaster Lamar Hurd joins the show to discuss the growth of Trendon Watford and CJ Elleby this season. This is Part 1 of my conversation with Lamar so listen and then come back for tomorrow's show for the rest of our discussion. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Damian Lillard is out 6 to 8 weeks, but we discuss how the season may have become more interesting for those who are still hopeful for the Blazers to get back on track. We discuss the Blazers who have a chance to step up and either show they are a part of the Blazers future or perhaps increase their trade value. Coach Billups, CJ McCollum and Norm Powell are the big names to watch, but we also discuss the unique opportunity Ben McLemore, Trendon Watford and CJ Elleby have found themselves in a Blazers season that hasn't gone to plan.Lastly, we spend some extra time discussing how impactful Anfernee Simons' play over the next three weeks is to the Blazers chance to get back to realistic title contention discussion when Dame returns to the floor (either this season or next).
