Curtis Jackson took his name from a stickup man – and then proceeded to play by that dead man's rules. This episode traces the violent legacy of the original 50 Cent and the rise of 50 Cent the rapper through his feud with Ja Rule, the Lorenzo brothers, Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, and Murder Inc. Records. This is about how Curtis Jackson a/k/a 50 Cent became a rap king, despite a nine-shot assassination attempt that failed to kill the man—or the myth.

Escuchar audio

“The Lost Special” centers around the baffling disappearance of a privately hired train (“a special”) during its run from Liverpool to London. The train, carrying just a handful of individuals, vanishes inexplicably after passing a junction—it doesn't show up where it should, and neither the tracks nor the train can be found. | #RetroRadio EP0495Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateCHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Show Open00:01:30.028 = CBS Radio Mystery Theater, “My Wife Doesn't Understand Me” (October 11, 1976)00:45:26.746 = Strange Wills, “So Deep Stream” (September 28, 1946)01:15:10.439 = Strange, “Deadman's Reef” (1955) ***WD01:27:15.389 = Suspense, “The Lost Special” (September 30, 1943) ***WD01:56:44.491 = Tales Of The Frightened, “Dr. Harvey Cushing” (1957)02:01:03.980 = The Saint, “Carnival Murder” (February 04, 1951) ***WD02:30:20.957 = Theater Five, “Captive Spirit” (October 16, 1964)02:51:49.891 = Theater 1030, “Trespassers Will Be Experimented Upon” (1968-1971) ***WD03:22:25.775 = 2000 Plus, “Insect” (May 17, 1950) ***WD03:51:49.648 = The Unexpected, “Eavesdropper” (1948)04:06:27.949 = Unsolved Mysteries, “Toll Bridge” (1936) ***WD04:20:54.279 = Dark Venture, “Hideout” (January 07, 1947) ***WD04:44:27.859 = Weird Circle, “Executioner” (November 19, 1944)05:11:52.842 = Show Close(ADU) = Air Date Unknown(LQ) = Low Quality***WD = Remastered, edited, or cleaned up by Weird Darkness to make the episode more listenable. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Send us a textDavos isn't dead. The Manderlys' animosity was all for show. They know the Freys lie. But they're not ready to join Stannis yet. However, if Davos can find and return Rickon Stark, then that would seal the deal. Mackelly and Simon debate who that might be.Chapter Review:Davos Seaworth is kept waiting for his execution. The gaoler refers to him as “The Dead Man,” but he's fed and has more than decent accommodation. After several days Robett Glover comes and takes him through secret and circuitous means to a chamber within earshot of obvious festivities. They're joined by Lord Wyman Manderly. He apologizes for the disrespect that Davos was shown. But while the Lannister, Frey, and Bolton alliance held his remaining son Wylis, he was forced to play along. But the feast that can be heard is to welcome the heir home - and Lord Wyman can let the mask slip a little. A ruse was pulled, a criminal was made to look like Davos and executed - his head and hands were displayed above the walls, heavily tarred and distorted with an onion in the mouth.Davos is ready to seal the alliance between Stannis and the Manderlys. But lord Wyman's not there yet - the Bolton's are cementing their claim to the North by marrying Arya Stark, but courtesy of Theon's former squire Wex, they know where Rickon Stark is. If Davos can return their rightful liege lord to them, then Stannis will have his ally. Cannibal-island is the destination - sounds fun!Characters/Places/Names/Events:Davos Seaworth - Hand of the King to King Stannis Baratheon.Stannis Baratheon - King of the Seven Kingdoms.Wyman Manderly - Lord of White Harbor.Wylis Manderly - Heir to White Harbor, former captive of the Lannisters.Wynafryd Manderly - Elder daughter of Wylis and Leona.Wylla Manderly - Younger daughter of Wylis and Leona.Rhaegar Frey - A Frey.Jared Frey - Another Frey.Robett Glover - Brother of Galbart Glover, Master of Deepwood Motte.Rickon Stark - Youngest son of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Wex - Former squire of Theon Greyjoy, one of the few survivors of the Sack of Winterfell.White Harbor - Only city in the North and its chief port.White Knife - Major river in the North that empties into the Bite at White Harbor. Look out the window. And doesn't this remind you of when you were in the boat, and then later than night, you were lying, looking up at the ceiling, and the water in your head was not dissimilar from the landscape, and you think to yourself, "Why is it that the landscape is moving, but the boat is still?" - Train fireman Get weekly bonus content on our Patreon: www.patreon.com/kingmepod Email us at kingmepod@gmail.com Letterboxd https://letterboxd.com/kingmepod/

When Charles Peck died instantly in California's worst train crash, his phone somehow made 35 calls to his loved ones over the next 11 hours—and his case is just one of many documented instances of the dead reaching out through our technology.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateTake the WEIRD DARKNESS LISTENER SURVEY and help mold the future of the podcast: https://weirddarkness.com/surveyIN THIS EPISODE: Charles died in a horrible train accident, but before anyone knew he was dead, his family received 35 calls from his phone after the tragedy. (He Kept Calling His Family After He Was Dead) *** Weirdo family member Christa Aurand describes something about herself that is somewhat unusual. Unusual to her – and kind of creepy to those around her. You see, sometimes people think she's dead. (I Am Not Dead) *** Army First Lieutenant Paul Byron Whipkey was as brave as he was handsome. After telling his fellow troops that he was going out for a drink he never came back – and was never heard from again, by anyone. (The Vanishing Lieutenant and the Disappearing Cadet) *** Final Destination is a massive franchise with numerous films, novels, and comic books in the universe it has created. Fortunately it's all from the minds of horror fiction authors. Or is it? There are real cases where some narrowly escaped death, only for death to catch up to them soon thereafter. Very soon. (You Can't Escape The Reaper)ABOUT WEIRD DARKNESS: Weird Darkness is a true crime and paranormal podcast narrated by professional award-winning voice actor, Darren Marlar. The Old West in America is filled with stories about cowboys and Native Americans and outlaws and lawmen. This was a time when a man could die in the streets with his boots on or at the poker table holding the Dead Man's Hand: a pair of aces and a pair of eights, all black. Cimarron, New Mexico was a prominent place in the Old West and the St. James Hotel was built there in 1872. Cimarron was a wild town that played host to a veritable who's who of old west gunmen, lawmen, gangs and famous performers like Buffalo Bill Cody. The hotel itself was witness to at least twenty-six deaths. And now the hotel seems to be playing host to spirits. The hotel is reputed to be quite haunted with at least seven identified spirits. Join us as we share the history and hauntings of the St. James Hotel!
