Greg Bluestein and Tia Mitchell take on listener questions ahead of Georgia's upcoming runoffs and a special legislative session. They dig into the Rick Jackson ad that leans on Brian Kemp's words without an actual endorsement, and size up how both Republican governor's race candidates are racing to claim the MAGA lane while also courting Kemp's political brand. Greg and Tia also weigh in on Keisha Lance Bottoms and Jon Ossoff's early joint campaigning, what the black women's vote actually delivered for Stacey Abrams in 2018, and how Georgia's leadership committee fundraising law created a money advantage that's still generating legal fights this cycle. Today's Guest Host: Mary Walter -The U.S. military demonstrates that “dead in the water” is more than a figure of speech, using a precision Hellfire missile to park an Iranian-bound tanker exactly where it sits. Mary is impressed and also relieved nobody was still hanging around the engine room. -Mary dives into EPA grant controversies, wondering how organizations with tiny financial footprints suddenly become trusted stewards of billions of taxpayer dollars. Stacey Abrams' name keeps popping up, and so do Mary's eyebrows. -Vanilla Ice refuses to melt under political pressure, declaring that America's 250th birthday should be a celebration, not a partisan food fight. He happily volunteers to spread love, perform music, and stay out of political warfare. -Former NSC chief of staff and CIA analyst Fred Fleitz joins Mary for an extended discussion on newly discovered DOJ and FBI “burn bag” documents, suggesting a patriotic insider may have preserved evidence tied to Crossfire Hurricane and the Trump investigations. Most people know her as a political juggernaut. She's a former minority leader of the Georgia state House, whose coalition building in that state became a blueprint for campaigns across the country. But Stacey Abrams is also a New York Times bestselling author, and NOT just of political nonfiction. Her series of legal thrillers follows protagonist Avery Keene through the inner workings of the U.S. Supreme Court and beyond. And while you're turning the pages well into the night, you may also start thinking in new ways about democracy and justice. SHORT DESCRIPTION New claims of massive federal fraud are shaking Washington as officials and former EPA leadership allege billions in taxpayer dollars were improperly routed through green energy programs. Tara and Roger break down the allegations, the political fallout, and the growing push inside government to recover what was spent. FEATURED STORIES 1. Trump Officials Claim Massive Fraud Potential in Federal Budget Elon Musk, in comments attributed to a conversation with Joe Rogan, is referenced alongside Trump administration officials who argue that eliminating fraud and improper payments could dramatically reduce the federal deficit. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is cited estimating hundreds of billions in potential fraud annually, while Stephen Miller argues the federal budget could be balanced if only properly eligible recipients received payments. 2. EPA Leadership Launches Criminal Referrals Over Green Energy Spending Former EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced multiple criminal referrals following an internal review of Biden-era environmental grant programs. According to the claims discussed, the investigation centers on alleged misuse of funds routed through nonprofit intermediaries. Zeldin says roughly $29 billion in EPA grants have been paused or canceled amid the review. 3. The $2 Billion Stacy Abrams-Linked Grant Raises Questions One of the most controversial examples cited involves a $2 billion grant awarded to a nonprofit tied to former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams. Critics highlighted that the organization reportedly had minimal prior financial activity before receiving federal funding, raising questions about oversight and eligibility standards. 4. “Pass-Through” Nonprofits Under Scrutiny Investigators referenced in the segment describe a network of nonprofit “pass-through” entities allegedly used to distribute federal funds with limited government oversight after initial disbursement. Concerns raised include whether funds were properly tracked once distributed beyond the initial recipient organizations. 5. Allegations of Political Enrichment Through Climate Funding Programs The discussion also focuses on claims that green energy and climate-related funding programs were structured in ways that benefited politically connected organizations and former government officials. Programs under the Inflation Reduction Act are specifically mentioned as part of the funding pipeline under review. 6. Calls to Reclaim Federal Funds Intensify The Trump EPA team is described as attempting to claw back portions of previously distributed grants, referring some cases to the Inspector General and the Department of Justice for possible prosecution. Supporters argue that stronger oversight and rescission of unused funds could help reduce waste and fraud. KEY TAKEAWAYS Allegations of large-scale federal fraud are fueling renewed scrutiny of government spending. EPA grant programs are under investigation for potential misuse and weak oversight. Nonprofit intermediaries are a central focus of concern in how federal funds are distributed. Political debate is intensifying over climate-related spending and accountability. Officials are pushing for recovered funds and expanded investigations. QUOTE OF THE DAY “If only properly eligible recipients received federal dollars, we could balance the budget.” SOCIAL MEDIA TEASER
Lee Zeldin, the 17th administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, returns to the morning show to discuss a climate group linked to high-profile Democrat Stacey Abrams being granted $2 billion by the Biden administration in a "scheme" of "wasteful" spending, before he expands on other issues in the news today pertaining to the EPA. Democracy is under attack—and this conversation made clear that the fight for voting rights is entering a dangerous new phase. On Thursday May 14, Lauren Groh-Wargo, CEO of Fair Fight Action (Rights & Insights), and Tennessee State Rep. Justin J. Pearson joined BigTentUSA's urgent discussion on the fallout from “Louisiana v. Callais”. Groh-Wargo and Pearson sounded the alarm on escalating efforts to dismantle fair representation across the South. From racial gerrymandering and attacks on Black voting power to coordinated pushes for partisan redistricting, the speakers warned that extremist lawmakers are testing how far they can weaken democracy—and counting on people to tune out. The conversation highlighted mounting threats in states like Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana, while emphasizing that courts alone will not stop the damage. Instead, organizers urged attendees to focus on turnout, state supreme court races, grassroots organizing, and sustained public pressure.Folks, the time to organize, mobilize, and fight back is now.Speakers' Recommended Actions:* Push back hard against voter suppression, racist gerrymandering, and attacks on democracy by calling them out publicly and keeping the pressure on.* Build bigger, stronger coalitions by bringing together community groups, workers, young people, businesses, and pro-democracy allies.* Reach more voters—including people who feel disconnected from politics—through year-round grassroots organizing and community outreach.* Focus on turnout in the 2026 midterms and key state and local races that will shape voting rights and representation.* Support local organizers and stay involved beyond election season through advocacy, education, and community action.Check out our ACT NOW page:https://bigtentusa.org/act-now/ Learn more about Fair Fight Action here:https://www.fairfight.com/Learn more about Rep. Pearson's campaign here:https://www.votejustinj.com/ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:Lauren Groh-Wargo is a political and civic engagement strategist, executive, and advocate for economic and voting rights. She partnered with Stacey Abrams in 2012 to build Democratic and progressive infrastructure in Georgia, and in response to 2018 voter suppression, founded and serves as CEO of Fair Fight Action, which combats suppression and advances voter education. Fair Fight played a key role in the 2020 election and 2021 Georgia runoff. An organizer at heart, Lauren has led campaigns and advised nonprofits nationally for over 20 years. She holds an Economics degree from American University and lives in Atlanta with her partner and son.Rep. Justin J. Pearson launched his campaign for Tennessee's Ninth Congressional District on October 8, 2025, declaring it “a campaign for The People.” A movement leader and Tennessee lawmaker, he rose to national prominence as part of the Tennessee Three, standing up for gun reform and being overwhelmingly reelected after expulsion. A lifelong organizer, he helped lead the victorious Byhalia Pipeline fight, shut down a cancer-causing sterilization plant, and now challenges Elon Musk's xAI data center. The second-youngest state legislator, Pearson is a national voice for justice, honored with the Truman Center's 2024 Moral Courage Award. He's running to bring that fight to Congress. **Episode 1,222: George Floyd Died for the Sins of Black America – And It Was All in Vain** In this hard-hitting episode, Clay Edwards pulls no punches on the six-year anniversary of George Floyd's death. He argues that what was sold as a defining moment for racial justice instead became a blank check for chaos, cultural decline, and self-inflicted damage that has left black America worse off. Clay breaks down how the “mostly peaceful protests,” the billions raised, the corporate virtue signaling, and the defund the police movement all backfired spectacularly. He examines the rapid rise and fall of the post-Floyd narrative through major events like the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal, Stacey Abrams' defeats, the exposure of BLM's financial scandals, and the Supreme Court ending race-based affirmative action. The episode features a deep dive into the top 10 deadliest cities in America — all Democrat-controlled and majority black — along with shocking FBI crime statistics broken down by race and age. These numbers reveal staggering disparities, especially among young black males, and raise uncomfortable questions about culture, accountability, and leadership failures. In Hour 2, Clay is joined by Andrew Gasser for further discussion on these crime trends, the state of Democrat-run cities, and real-world examples of cultural decay, including a eye-opening story from a recent Carnival cruise. Unfiltered, data-driven, and no-holds-barred — this is reality radio at its finest.
Send us Fan MailIn this episode I take on a label that gets thrown around way too casually: ‘far‑right fascist.' I walk through how mainstream politicians, academics, and media smear conservatives as fascists, starting with Biden's ‘semi‑fascism' line and moving through Hillary Clinton, Stacey Abrams, Antifa, the 2020 riots, and the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I argue that election denial and political violence are bipartisan bad habits, not a one‑sided moral failing. I lay out my three‑axis way of thinking about politics — personal freedom (‘leave me the hell alone'), economic control (capitalism vs. heavy state control), and nationalism — and explain why both fascists and communists fail the ‘leave me the hell alone' test, why today's loud progressives sit closer to the authoritarian left than they admit, and why wanting smaller government and strong borders does not make you Mussolini. If being conservative gets you called a fascist, maybe it's time to stop accepting their definitions — and, if we're going to trade playground insults, to answer that their mother wears army boots

Trump's Purge: 5 Senators Down — Who's Next? Five senators are gone. One was a sitting U.S. Senator nobody thought could lose. Five Indiana state senators got purged in a single move. And now Trump just publicly endorsed Ken Paxton over four-term incumbent John Cornyn — sending a message every Republican in Washington just heard loud and clear. Lance Wallnau breaks down the pattern the establishment is desperate to ignore. Who's next on the list? In this episode, Lance unpacks Trump's bombshell Ken Paxton endorsement, the Republican Senate "war chest" being weaponized to protect RINOs instead of fight Democrats, the six-state primary day reshaping 2026, and the Supreme Court "Kalei" ruling that could flip up to 100 seats and crack Stacey Abrams' $2 billion Fair Fight empire wide open. Is this the most consequential primary week of the decade? In this episode: • Trump's endorsement of Ken Paxton over John Cornyn — and why the Republican establishment is panicking • The five Indiana state senators Trump just purged for betraying MAGA • Bill Cassidy's stunning Louisiana loss — only the second sitting senator booted in modern history • The Supreme Court "Kalei" redistricting ruling nobody is covering — could flip 30 congressional seats and hundreds of local seats • Why Stacey Abrams' $2 billion Fair Fight infrastructure is now legally vulnerable • The $32 million Thomas Massie race in Kentucky • Burt Jones vs. Raffensperger — Georgia's governor battle heats up • 25 FBI agents dressed as MAGA on January 6 — and Christopher Wray's careful lawyer-speak • A prophetic prayer for America's 250th year Trump isn't just winning elections anymore. He's reshaping the entire Republican Party in real time — and the names of who survives this purge will define the next decade of American politics. CannCon and Ashe in America open with Ashe's first in-person visit with Tina Peters in prison, arriving just hours after Governor Jared Polis cut her sentence in half and granted parole effective June 1. Ashe shares Peters' priorities upon release: her 97-year-old mother, her health, and her dog Minka. The conversation turns to a full legal breakdown of the case, including what she was actually convicted of versus acquitted of, the exculpatory text messages withheld by the FBI from DA Rubinstein, and how the court blocked her from disputing the prosecution's intent narrative. CannCon and Ashe also break down the $17.76 billion weaponization of government fund and whether their own cases might qualify. The show then pivots to The Atlantic's hit piece on election integrity advocates including Clay Parikh and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who seized 650,000 ballots after redistricting discrepancies. The episode closes on Todd Blanche's Fox Business interview confirming active DOJ investigations in Arizona and Fulton County, Susie Wiles' statement that Trump may have won additional 2020 states, and Stacy Abrams reacting to the downstream effects of the Louisiana v. Callais redistricting ruling.
CannCon and Ghost open Tuesday with Ghost fresh off a Caribbean wedding where he discovered Epstein Island is visible from a crowded ferry. DOJ announces the plea deal of Brenda Lee Brown Armstrong, a 20-year veteran of registering homeless people on Skid Row with cigarettes and cash, exposed by James O'Keefe. CannCon connects her voter roll padding directly to Maryland's mail-in ballot crisis, where Trump posts that 500,000 illegal ballots were sent out and demands a DOJ investigation of Governor Wes Moore. Stacey Abrams confirms what CannCon said three weeks ago: the Louisiana v. Calais redistricting decision threatens not just congressional seats but up to 191 state legislative districts, and with them every city council, county commission, and school board in the South. Ghost previews the Western Kentucky AIPAC versus Massey primary as a guaranteed lose-lose for the establishment GOP: either outcome blows up the coalition. Linda McMahon reveals the FAFSA fraud crackdown is stopping ghost students, bots, and dead people from collecting federal loans. The San Diego Islamic Center shooting unfolds with fog of war caution. And a Minnesota ICE officer is charged in a shooting CannCon says deserves a trial regardless of politics.
Hour 1 opens with Marc and the crew returning to the newly renovated studio before reflecting on a stormy graduation weekend and previewing major upcoming interviews with FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey and Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hannaway. The conversation quickly shifts into outrage over reports that some Missouri county election officials may refuse to honor the state's newly approved 7-1 congressional map ahead of the August primaries, with Marc warning of legal consequences if local officials attempt to ignore Supreme Court-approved district lines. The hour also covers the developing California church and school shooting involving two teenagers accused of stealing firearms, possible extremist motivations, and reports that an armed citizen may have helped stop the attack before even more people were killed. The Shortlist segment tackles Trump-backed efforts to unseat Congressman Thomas Massie, overnight violence near Keener Plaza in downtown St. Louis, Stacey Abrams warning Democrats about major election losses, and CNN drawing criticism for airing footage from Tehran showing Iranian civilians and children being trained with rifles amid anti-American propaganda messaging. Marc then unloads on Missouri's skyrocketing property tax assessments, accusing local governments and state officials of manipulating valuations to squeeze homeowners while lawmakers failed to pass meaningful relief measures. During “Kim on a Whim,” Kim and Marc hammer COVID-era prison release policies after reports showed inmates released during the pandemic were later charged with violent crimes including murder, while also criticizing media fear campaigns surrounding Ebola and hantavirus coverage and arguing that progressive criminal justice policies continue to weaken public safety. The hour closes with a discussion about the collapse of neighborhood interaction in America, as new survey data shows fewer Americans regularly speak with their neighbors due to social media, changing lifestyles, and growing social isolation. Redistricting battles are spreading like wildfire in both red and blue states, and increasingly the fate of America's electoral system is at the mercy of the courts. This week, Alex speaks to Virginia Representative Suhas Subramanyam about how Democrats in the state are planning to fight fire with fire after a major setback for their efforts to redraw voting lines, and she hears from New York State Senator Mark Gianaris about the risks of diluting minority and progressive votes. Then Alex speaks to Stacey Abrams, host of Crooked Media's Assembly Required, about the Supreme Court's gutting of the Voting Rights Act and why Democrats can't abandon their values to pursue Congressional seats.
The Supreme Court's ruling in Louisiana v. Callais last month dismantled a critical portion of the Voting Rights Act. And since then, a slew of states — largely in the South — have moved to redraw voting maps. In doing so, they're eliminating majority-Black voting districts. There are not many people who have done more to fight for Black voting power and for the rights of Black voters in the South than Stacey Abrams, host of Crooked Media's Assembly Required. So we talked to her about the racist implications of Louisiana vs. Callais and where we go from here. And in headlines, Senate Republicans once again block legislation that would halt President Donald Trump's war of choice with Iran, Vice President JD Vance takes more steps in the administration's anti-fraud initiative, and a Politico analysis finds that the Trump administration has lost in court more than 10,000 times in ICE detention decisions.Show Notes: Check out Stacey's podcast – Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

Jon Herold comes in Tuesday energized and with receipts. The FBI is now actively interviewing CIA officials as part of the Brennan investigation into the 2017 Russian intelligence assessment, and Jon plays a recent Brennan clip where the man openly admits to knowing about a "legion" of professionals inside the government still working against Trump. Jon flags it as potential RICO furtherance on tape. The DOJ also officially warned reporters they should expect subpoenas in the classified Iran war leaks investigation, with the Wall Street Journal already having received them. Jon reads newly released Senate committee documents showing Hunter Biden Mann Act evidence including text messages, goes live down a rabbit hole when he notices the name "Robert" in one exchange, and arrives somewhere interesting. Kari Lake is being sent to Jamaica as ambassador and Doug Mastriano to the Slovak Republic, and Jon sees a familiar template: Trump takes big election integrity figures, parks them in ambassadorships, and they disappear from the conversation. Also: the California mayor who just pleaded guilty to being a Chinese spy is named Wang, Stacey Abrams has been subpoenaed in Georgia, ODNI is reviewing 120 US-funded foreign biolabs, and Trump wants Wall Street banned from buying houses.

Justin Pearson completely lost it on camera — screaming in a state trooper's face during the Tennessee redistricting vote in a clip the media is desperate to ignore. Then CNN's own anchor had her narrative collapse in real time when she found out the "black district" is actually represented by a white Democrat named Steve Cohen, and his replacement will be a black Republican woman. Stacey Abrams jumped on MSNBC to call constitutional states "authoritarian" and it went about as well as you'd expect. The nation is still reckoning with a Supreme Court decision last week that critics say renders a key aspect of the Voting Rights Act useless. The court ruled that Louisiana illegally used race in the way it drew its district map. It has wider implications for how all such maps are drawn. Some states, including Florida, have already moved to change their maps. This is all happening mere months before the midterm elections. KUOW's Paige Browning talked with voting rights activist Stacey Abrams about her take on the decision, about her opinion on voter apathy and why she stepped back from the national stage.Guest Stacey Abrams, lawyer, former Georgia Democratic state legislator, founder of the American Pride Rises Network and the 10 Steps CampaignRelated Links Louisiana v. Are political words just words—or are they shaping real-world consequences? Tara breaks down the escalating rhetoric, media framing, and the dangerous feedback loop between messaging and action. ⚡ EPISODE SUMMARY In today's episode, Tara digs into how political rhetoric is escalating across media and leadership circles—and why it matters more than ever. From commentary surrounding Donald Trump to statements made by figures like Roy Cooper, Stacey Abrams, and Kamala Harris, the episode explores how language like “threat,” “dictator,” and “authoritarian” is shaping public perception. Tara also examines the role of influencers such as Hasan Piker and how rhetoric from both political figures and media personalities can contribute to heightened tensions. The episode raises a critical question: when repeated messaging paints opponents as existential threats, does it risk pushing unstable individuals toward extreme actions? This is a deep dive into narrative-building, media responsibility, and the real-world impact of political discourse.
Tara breaks down the escalating rhetoric surrounding President Trump, exposing what she calls a dangerous “double standard” in media and politics. From late-night comedy to campaign trails, she connects the dots between language, influence, and real-world consequences—arguing that words matter more than ever in today's political climate. ⚡ EPISODE SUMMARY In this episode, Tara dives deep into what she describes as a coordinated pattern: inflammatory rhetoric on one side paired with justification from political leadership on the other. She highlights commentary from figures like Jimmy Kimmel and political voices including Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams, and Roy Cooper—arguing that repeated framing of Donald Trump as a “threat” or “tyrant” contributes to a broader narrative. Tara also examines how messaging, media coverage, and selective outrage shape public perception—and asks whether the rules are being applied equally across political lines.
