As David states "Branding is NOT a band aid." In this episode you will learn: • The hardest part about a Brand Intervention • How Jaguar should have handled their LGBTQ role out • How Branding is about solving internal business problems first • Rock Bands as a metaphor for growing your brand from a "wedding singer" to a "stadium performer" If you are a small business owner, marketer or branding aficionado, THIS is the episode for you! While Brand Intervention focused on building a brand from the ground up, his follow up book, Rich Brand Poor Brand, focuses on How to Unleash Your David in a World of Goliaths by creating the kind of culture that can sustain and maintain your brand for years to come. The foreword is written by Claude Silver of VaynerX, Gary Vaynerchuk's agency. The book is based on a confidential internal memo from Nike that listed out their qualities of the kind of culture they needed to build their empire. It came down to 20 distinct traits any business can master with insights from Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, Jason Feifer of Entrepreneur magazine, Sara Blakely, Brené Brown, Billy Joel, Kevin Hart, Marie Forleo, and Gary Vaynerchuk. David is also the author of the award-winning book Brand Intervention: 33 Steps to Transform the Brand You Have into the Brand You Need. In this episode… Branding involves more than simply developing a clever name and eye-catching packaging to drive repeat sales. You must generate loyalty through post-purchase efforts and differentiate yourself from the competition. Yet 95% of brands ignore post-sale branding, blending in with the millions of other brands in their category. How can you rise above the noise to assert your dominance in the market? Branding interventionist David Brier urges brands not to be tentative in their efforts. Instead, communicate your values, mission, and personality with a sense of conviction and be bold in your endeavors. To differentiate yourself authentically, evaluate your competitors, look ahead into the future, and pivot based on the insights you've gathered. When it comes to generating lifetime value, you must provide customers with compelling reasons to engage with your brand post-sale. Rather than spamming them with countless emails promoting similar products, reimagine how your brand can function in consumers' lives beyond the initial purchase.  On this episode of the Up Arrow Podcast, David Brier, the President and Creative Director of DBD International, Ltd., joins William Harris to reveal revolutionary brand-building strategies. David shares when you should consider a brand intervention, how to develop a recognizable brand, and how to obtain buy-in from senior executives.

He is a branding expert and the recipient of over 330 international industry awards in branding, rebrands, design, and brand strategy.  He received the Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship medallion and has been featured in Adweek, Forbes, Inc, Huffington Post, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, and numerous podcasts. David is also the author of the award-winning book Brand Intervention: 33 Steps to Transform the Brand You Have into the Brand You Need. In this episode: Customers buy transformations — products or services that make things simpler, better, easier, tastier, smaller, or bigger. How can you use your company's unique story as a selling point to differentiate itself from competitors? How can your brand add value for customers? The most essential factor in building your brand is the experience people have with your product or service — the actual differentiator of using it, interacting with it, and the transformation it helps bring about. With a wealth of branding experience behind him, David Brier's advice is to start by focusing on customers' problems and needs. He helps companies create a unique brand that relates and interacts better with customers. Customers look for brands that fill the gap between where they are and where they want to be — they are looking for a solution. Once you can do that for them, your business will grow. In this episode of the Systems Simplified podcast, Adi Klevit interviews David Brier, Founder and CEO of DBD International, Ltd., about his system for creating a differentiated brand. David also talks about his book, explains what branding means, and discusses how companies can become extraordinary and differentiate themselves from competitors.

Loyal listeners of the ABM Done Right Podcast know that Personal ABM believes that ABM and the Challenger Sale go hand-in-hand as ABM is not about sourcing the pipeline. It's about how are we going to win with those tier 1 accounts that do not respond to campaigns. It's about accelerating stuck accounts to revenue and how are we going to get a higher deal size and then expand accounts. This requires sales, marketing, and customer success teams to tailor for relevance,  teach for differentiation and come to each interaction with a point of view about our future and existing customers' businesses so we can reframe them. This is especially important in industries like cybersecurity, employee engagement, and others where enterprises already invested - and have used their platforms for 10+ years.  However, as we mentioned in previous podcasts, sales and marketing teams are unable to come to a POV about their prospects' businesses as they do not have a strong POV about their business.  How these teams are positioning themselves and differentiating themselves -- and the positions they take are off.  This is why Eric Gruber (Personal ABM) CEO and branding expert David Brier talks about the foundation that companies need to build before they can effectively execute ABM. Along with providing their insights, you'll hear how a cybersecurity firm recrafted their POV and story to challenge the status quo and to teach to differentiate against all of the other competitors in this crowded space. You'll see why the rebranding won -- and how the cybersecurity company is taking market share from competitors.

Branding is the art of differentiation, you want to differentiate yourself from all the noise out there.  Give a solid answer about what makes you different, nothing generic. If you understand your audience well enough then this should come easily.  When you're discovering your audience, narrow down what shared traits they have and utilize them.  Don't waste your time playing a smaller game when you could be having a much larger impact.    Quote of the Show:  “Why are we being taught the answers? David Brier, the President and Creative Director at DBD International has a knack for pulling things apart and getting to the root of an issue by asking a simple question: ‘Why?' David joins fellow disruptor and host Karla Jo to talk about ways that he is disrupting the status quo of rebranding your company.    Takeaways:   The most important ingredient to disruption is paying attention. Many companies show up and make a lot of noise, but few take notice of what good disruption and change is and where it is needed. Your brand should properly frame you. You must own your own dialogue and narrative. Your brand is a part of you and it should properly reflect that.  People will not come to new conclusions based on old information. You need to make sure that you sound different in order to get your brand out there. Branding is the art of differentiation and not the art of looking like another brand in your category.  There are three phases to branding; Pre-Sales branding, During the Sales Branding, and Post-Sales Branding. Most companies only focus on two of the three but all three are important. You want to be more connected to the solution to your customers problems and not your own solutions, that's why Netflix is world wide and there is only one Blockbuster remaining.    Quote of the show:   2:10 “The biggest, most important ingredient to disruption, this may surprise you, my answer is paying attention in the first place. How can you disrupt if you don't even take a pulse of where the things are at. And that to me is the biggest secret. So many companies, CEOs, brands, thought leaders, et cetera. They're just going to show up screaming really loud.   Well, that's going to disrupt! Well, what if everybody else is already screaming loud, bozo? That  would be my response to that person who chose to do that. So it's paying attention, so it's going, okay. Take a pulse where stuff is at, right? Because you could disrupt smartly. You could disrupt stupidly, right?”   Links: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidbrier/ Company Website: https://www.risingabovethenoise.com Company LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/dbd-international/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/davidbrier?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor   Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/eccda84d-4d5b-4c52-ba54-7fd8af3cbe87/disruption-interruption Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/disruption-interruption/id1581985755 Google Play - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cub21ueWNvbnRlbnQuY29tL2QvcGxheWxpc3QvODE5NjRmY2EtYTQ5OC00NTAyLThjZjktYWI3YzAwMmRiZTM2LzNiZTZiNzJhLWEzODItNDhhNS04MDc5LWFmYTAwMTI2M2FiNi9kZDYzMGE4Mi04ZGI4LTQyMGUtOGNmYi1hZmEwMDEyNjNhZDkvcG9kY2FzdC5yc3M=  Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/6yGSwcSp8J354awJkCmJlD Stitcher - https://www.stitcher.com/show/disruption-interruption YouTube - https://youtu.be/AFJH33euWIo See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
