In the early 90's all the hottest Marvel artists left the company to form Image comics. Each of those creators created their own studios and their own line of comics. Jim Lee created Wildstorm comics and one of the biggest books from that studio was "Stormwatch". Although not joining on until issue #37 many people consider Warren Ellis' time on the comic as the definitive Stormwatch. Does this comic still hold up in 2021?

We heard how black consciousness gave Dr Ellis the right questions with which to approach the text. And how Dr Ellis' own theological education had little to say to the context of his life and ministry in black communities. Dr Ellis reminded us that finding our identity in the Jesus of evangelicalism is not the same as finding our identity in the Jesus of the Bible. Investigative Timeline - August 5, 2014: This episode reflects back on Episode 8 and the telephone and in-person interviews conducted by Oklahoma City Sex Crimes Detective Kim Davis with Daniel Holtzclaw accuser Sherry Ellis.Ellis alleges she was stopped by Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw, in the early morning hours of May 7, 2014, near NE 17th and N. Highland Dr. and forced to perform oral sex. She says she was then transported a couple of blocks away and vaginally raped in a public park, before being told to "have a nice night" as the officer drove away. But, there's some significant problems with Ellis' allegations. For one, she describes her attacker as a "short, black, male police officer." Daniel Holtzclaw is 6' 2" tall and pale white in complexion. Ellis also claims the officer who attacker her was driving a different model of patrol car than Holtzclaw was actually driving. Then there's his patrol car GPS. While it places him in the area, host Brian Bates explains why it would be impossible for Holtzclaw's patrol car to be where prosecutors insist the rape took place.Listen to all the facts and decide for yourself, was justice served, or was justice denied? You can see get more details and see the discovery evidence used to compile this episode at this episode's homepage.Follow this podcast on Twitter @BrianBatesPI  | Instagram @BatesInvestigates | Facebook @BatesInvestigates This episode was researched, written, produced and edited by Brian Bates.Season one of Bates Investigates: The Daniel Holtzclaw Case is a Bugstomper production.Visit this season's homepage at HoltzclawTrial.com*9/2/2019 - This audio file was originally published.*9/3/2019 - The audio file was updated for factual correction at timecode 08:20:00+/- *9/3/2019 7:40pm - Audio was updated with sound effects, starting at timecode 05:13:02If you have your subscription set to automatic downloads, delete and re-download again to get the most current audio file.© Brian Bates 2019

Microblading inserts semi-permanent pigment into the upper layers of skin to create the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. The effects last up to 12 months after which the pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows exactly as they were. The technique is very on-trend right now. But microblading can be difficult for redheads because redheads typically have lighter and coarser brows, and sometimes a semi-permanent color can be way too harsh. BUT, microblading can be done! A redhead needs to find the right professional who has worked on redheads before. Thanks to social media, we came across today's guest, Katie Ellis, on Instagram. One of Ellis' red-haired clients broke down in tears after seeing her new microbladed redhead brows. Ellis is from Fresno, California. She is a registered nurse turned beauty business entrepreneur. She realized after six long years in college and two years of nursing, her true passion is to help women feel beautiful through microblading. Giving her clients confidence through microblading makes her heart soar and leaves her fulfilled every day. She answers the following questions: 1. Who is the best candidate for microblading? 2. Walk us through the process! Post, during and pre-microblading? 3. A redhead sits down to get their brows microbladed. How do you decide on the color of the brows? We’ve read that sometimes the color can change. Have you seen this? 4. Does it hurt? Should a redhead with sensitive skin be concerned about irritation? 5. How many times do they see you: When you get it done, do you have to go back once it heals? How long does it last? How often do you need to get it done? PODCAST NOTES: Coming Soon! What You'll Hear: Judaism is a religion and also an ethnicity.  Ellis' family was ethnically Jewish but not necessarily very religious Ellis grew up going to Hebrew school after public school.  No-one ever talked about the Messiah The focus was preparing for the bar mitzvah.  The boy has to chant a section of the Jewish scriptures Ellis grew up in the inner city of Philadelphia in a primarily Jewish neighborhood Ellis studied Architecture for 5 years at Penn State.  He settled into complacency with his faith and his interest in track and field Someone once said "church history has been written in blood and punctuated with violence" - Ellis grew up aware of the horrible things done to the Jewish people in history in the name of Jesus When people say "everyone can get to God in their own way" they don't necessarily believe that, but it's kind of push back.  That's how Ellis felt when he went to his first Christian meeting Ellis came to a head knowledge of Jesus, but then had an "Apostle Paul" experience at a meeting when all of a sudden he knew that Jesus was his Messiah.  That was in March, 1970 Ellis immediately had a meaning and purpose for life for the first time. Ellis immediately lost his tendency to argue with his Dad The mandate for any Christian is, whatever you do in life, have a focus on fulfilling the Great Commission Ellis helped develop a strategy to reach everyone in his dorms with the Gospel "Every Christian student needs to think through, what is God calling them to?" "I considered myself a completed Jew..and told my parents..my mother went out of the room crying" "My father said 'I will never attend your wedding'" "I consider my wife a completed Gentile" Ellis' daughter Heather was killed in a car accident at the age of 17 Ellis shared the Gospel with his Jewish family at his daughter’s memorial service   Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) was formed in 1951.  It was always meant to be a focus on worldwide missions Cru has over 15,000 staff members worldwide and in most countries. Cru created the Jesus film.  It's the most translated film and most viewed film in all of history, in 1500 languages. Men want to desire their meaning and purpose from what they do at work.  The mistake is when our self worth is solely tied to what we can accomplish in our job. Our satisfaction in life must come from our intimacy with Jesus. How sad that people would live their lives for 2 days a week. "If we view where we work just as a paycheck, we're going to miss the mark for what God has called us to" Most people don't know how to talk about Jesus and are afraid of rejection.  The easiest way to talk to people is to share your story.  Write down your elevator speech, no more than 3 minutes. Learn to ask good questions.  You can ask "My personal faith is something that's important to me, is that something that's important to you?" One verse that's very meaningful to Ellis is Philippians 4:19 We have to be intentional about giving to the Lord.  He will meet our needs Men work off of the paradigm of performance.  What's important to God is us having an intimate relationship with Him.  Do everything you can to grow in your intimacy with the Lord. Ben Ellis, teacher serenaded by students, dies after cancer battle (CNN)A beloved high school teacher whose students gathered outside his window to serenade him has died after a battle with cancer. Ben Ellis, who taught Latin and Bible studies at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville, died Friday, said Nate Morrow, the school's headmaster. A few days ago, 400 students from the school showed up outside his home to sing songs of worship when he could no longer teach. Despite chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Ellis taught until earlier this month because the distraction helped him through it. Surprise serenade Last week, he was having a tough morning after receiving bad news about his treatment options, according to Morrow. "The high school principal said, 'Ben has loved us well. Stop what you're doing, load up the buses. We're going to his house to worship with him,'" Morrow said. In a video posted by musician Tim McGraw, the teacher is seen singing along to "Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here" with the students gathered outside his window. "A friend sent this to me today," McGraw wrote. "The entire student body (400+ students plus HS faculty) drove to his house to worship with him."   'Full of hope, peace' The video has been viewed 31 million times since it was posted, and Ellis' friends and family have been posting their stories in the comments. "Ben is my son," Bob Ellis wrote. "Through his ministry and teaching, he has positively touched countless hundreds of lives directly and many thousands indirectly. He, his wife and children are a beautiful family." Morrow said his death affected them all. "He left these words for us, spoken over the students at his house, and I share them with you to guide us now," Morrow said. "He said, 'I love you. I believe now more than ever that God is good, and that He is with us. I am full of hope, peace and joy. I wish all this for you. Look to Jesus to know, to believe, and to be filled.'"   Ellis leaves behind a wife and five children.   Video: Over 400 students sing to Nashville teacher battling cancer   Insights From The Teachers Lounge   We all die but how many us are truly living? Is your teaching career sucking the life out of you or are you using the time to impact others?   Ben Ellis is no longer with us and one day we won't be here either. Make the most out of the opportunities the teaching profession presents to you. One never knows what kind of impact you can have on others.
