Five years ago, actor Giles Panton swung by the YVR Screen Scene Podcast to talk about voicing Iron Man in Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones, the sleighful of Christmas movies in his filmography, what he learned playing the minister of propaganda for the American Reich in Amazon Prime's critically acclaimed dystopian series The Man in the High Castle, and the Barbie commercial that broke up his band. It's a fantastic episode (which you can find in the episode footnotes or wherever you listen to podcasts), but a lot can change in five years. For instance, you can move from being the guy that always loses the girl in the rom-com to the guy who gets her. You can win a Leo Award for Best Performance in an Animation Program for your work in animated horror anthology series Red Iron Road AND a UBCP/ACTRA Award for voicing Carnage and Norman Osborne in Absolute Carnage. You can get an ADHD diagnosis that explains so much of how you move through the world. You can become a dad. In this compelling conversation – at times poignant; at times funny; always authentic and entertaining – Giles reflects on the many changes of the last five years, what it takes to be a leading man, working with Andrea Brooks on Snowy with a Chance of Christmas, pursuing joy, constructing grilled cheese sandwiches, and how his ADHD diagnosis changed his life. For this month's Audience Choice episode we're going all the way back to 2002 and talking about the original live action SPIDER-MAN. We're talking about THAT kiss (almost immediately), defending the mentally ill Norman Osborne and agreeing with J. Jonah Jameson that a masked boy swinging through the city like a wrecking ball, leaving his goo everywhere, is in fact a "menace." Produced by Andrew Ivimey as part of The From Superheroes Network. Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all of your favorite fictional universes. Hot off the heels of July's San Diego Comic Con, Disney continued their full court press last week with the D23 Expo, where a smattering of announcements were made. So, let's tackle the latest and greatest news from the House of Mouse's more geek-centric divisions Regarding Marvel Studios, Disney Plus was front and center, with a fair amount of official, as well as leaked footage, released; delighting fans worldwide: A fresh trailer for the WandaVision sequel series, Agatha All Along, debuted, accompanied by a live performance of an original song titled "The Ballad of the Witches Road." The Daredevil: Born Again trailer seemed to generate unanimous positivity, with hype moments such as the return of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye. It also gave D23 audiences their first glimpses of the costumed vigilante White Tiger and a new villain, Muse. A first look at Ironheart also debuted, confirming the series is still on the way. Beside the return of Riri Williams, other new details include Anthony Ramos as The Hood and an appearance from Shuri. On the film side, the splash was not as big as SDCC, with much of that material being recycled, but new images and footage for both Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps were showcased, which included a taste of Michael Giacchino's main musical theme for the quartet. Over in the galaxy far, far away: Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni showed off the first footage from The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will be the first new theatrical release for Star Wars since 2019, as well as the first based off of a Disney Plus series. The official trailer for the Jude Law-led Skeleton Crew debuted, giving fans a tease of the Speilbergian influence. We also learned more about Jude Law's character, a force user named Jod Na Nawood, via the plot synopsis. Lucasfilm also showed off some footage of the upcoming season of Andor, which confirmed more Rogue One character returns. Diego Luna also revealed the next season takes place over four years in a series of time jumps. Bringing it back to Marvel with their animation offerings, the D23 panel provided significant updates on several series: While Marvel Zombies is still “a while out” we now know it will be four episodes and rated TV-MA. Eyes of Wakanda will also be four episodes long. What If…? voice actor Hudson Thames, will reprise his role as Peter Parker for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with Colman Domingo voicing Norman Osborne and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. The series will premiere November 2, 2024. Finally, honing in on Disney's “homegrown” projects, as Bob Iger promised, sequels were all the rage: Pixar won the day in terms of the amount of project news. A very brief Toy Story 5 teaser trailer indicated the return of Woody and Brad Bird was announced to return to direct Incredibles 3. Zoe Saldana joined the cast of Elio, which is now slated for May 2025. Hoppers was announced as the studios next feature, with Jon Hamm in a villain role. Dream Productions, an Inside Out spin-off series, and Win or Lose, a new series focusing on a little league team, were also announced. Trailers for Moana 2, Mufasa: The Lion King and the Snow White live action remake were released, as well as new details for Frozen 3 and Zootopia 2. Frozen 3 will get a pre-Thanksgiving release of November 24, 2027 and they released concept art. Plus Frozen 4 is already in early development and The “live action” version of Stitch from Lilo & Stitch also made his debut. On Saturday, Deadpool and Wolverine reached the milestone of becoming the second R-Rated movie in history to cross $1 billion dollars at the international box office. It is nipping at the heels of Joker to become the highest grossing R-Rated movie of all time.

Boondock Saints was a movie that dudes in the late 90s/early 2000's worshipped. But Mike White (@proboothpodcast) says the wool is over everyone's eyes. According to him, the story of the religious hitmen in Boston is more grating than the Boston accent. The latest collaboration from Sony and Marvel is here with Spider-Man No Way Home. Make sure you've watched the movie before you jump into our fully spoiler filled chat. Synopsis for our Spider-Man No Way Home Movie Review Directed by: Jon Watts Written by: Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Based on characters by - Steve Ditko and Stan Lee His identity revealed Peter Parker, aka Spiderman, and MJ try to escape the glare of the media spotlight and J Jonah Jameson. Pursued by the Department of Damage Control, not even the help from his lawyer Matt Murdock, can ease the intrusion of the identity of Spiderman. As it begins to affect the futures of Peter, MJ and Ned when their University applications to MIT are rejected because of the controversy Peter asks Doctor Stephen Strange if he can help. A spell exists that may be the answer to Peter's problems. Deep in the Sanctum Sanctorum and despite Wong's warning, Doctor Strange casts a spell that will make people forget Peter is Spiderman. But it is a tricky and dangerous spell skirting the boundaries of reality. As Strange begins casting Peter keeps requesting alterations to the spell which causes it to become corrupted and run out of control. While Strange manages to contain the failing spell, weird things begin to happen in New York City and they all appear focussed on Spiderman. As Peter tries to convince an MIT administrator to accept Ned's and MJ's applications, he is suddenly attacked by Doc Ock aka Otto Octavius who he manages to disarm and then by the Green Goblin who manages to escape. He brings Doc Ock back to the Sanctum where he is placed in a holding cell next to Curt Connors in his Lizard form. But both adversaries don't recognise this world's Peter Parker. Doctor Strange reveals that the spell has begun bringing "visitors" from the multiverse who know that Peter is Spider-Man into their world from every part of the Multiverse. Armed with this knowledge and with the help of MJ and Ned, Peter decides to help capture any other possible visitors. Spider-Man manages to find and capture Electro aka Max Dillon and Flint Marko still in his Sandman form. While Peter wants to save Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman and Lizard, Doctor Strange believes they should be returned to their universe to meet their fate. But with Peter's greatest adversary Norman Osborne, the green Goblin still at large, Norman uses his split personality and Peter's desire to help others for his own ends, trashing Peter's plan and unleashing tragic events for Peter Parker. With Aunt May killed and Peter desolate, MJ and Ned rally to his help, releasing Doctor Strange from the mirror dimension and recruiting two friendly neighbourhood visitors to his aid as they face off against his enemies at the Statue of Liberty. In the final battle the Spider-Men manage to cure their villains. At Peter's request, Strange fixes the spell, sending the alternate Spider-Men and their villains back to their universes, while making everyone forget Parker's existence. We're finally back to our series covering Jonathan Hickman's Marvel runs. This time we're revisiting his great Fantastic Four run. We start first with the Dark Reign mini-series and then cover issues 570 to 588 in Fantastic Four. The great thing about reading a Hickman run is when you go back to read it and realize he's laid the groundwork for the next series he's going to write. Throughout the beginning of his FF run we see the seeds of what Hickman will do when he starts his Avengers run. The Dark Reign mini-series gives us an important foundation for the rest of Hickman's FF run. First, it reveals that Franklin's powers are back when he uses a toy gun to shoot real bullets at Norman Osborne. Then there's Reed building and using the Bridge which will come into play in Hickman's Avengers run. It also introduces The Council of Reeds. More importantly though, this series digs into Reed Richards obsession with "solving everything" and his hubris of "I alone can fix it". The main Fantastic Four run picks up with where Hickman left off in Dark Reign. We also get the reveal of why the 616 Reed Richards is the best Reed: Because he still had his father. We see the results of what happened in the SHIELD series with Nathaniel Richards. Hickman takes it a step further with The Great Hunt, that saw the Nathaniel Richards from all realities hunt and kill each other until only one remained. What's funny is that this story is something we've just seen told in the Loki series. We also get Val revealing to be smarter than her dad, Nu-World, the emergence of the Four Cities, the creation of the Future Foundation and more. This episode ends with the emotional issues of 587 and 588. 587 sees the last stand and death of Johnny Storm while 588 is the emotional silent issue with the aftermath of his death. We'll be back to wrap up this run in September. Then after that we'll be moving onto Hickman's Ultimate run and then eventually...Avengers & Secret Wars. Stay tune and remember: Issues: Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #1 - 5 Fantastic Four #570 - 588 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Volume 1 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Volume 2 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Volume 3 Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Volume 4 Like what you hear? Welcome to the place where I get to let my geek flag fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is where I look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. This level of the podcast is a discussion all about dads in the geek pop culture we enjoy. I don't want to spoil who we think is good or bad but the list is chock full of dads including Bail Organa, Omni Man, Marlin the Clownfish, the Dad from The Road, Dalinar Kholin (Stormlight), Jefferson Davis (Into the Spider-Verse), Master Splinter, Ogami Itto (Lone Wolf and Cub), Dr Henry Jones, Sr., Uncle Ben Parker, Godzilla, Bandit Heeler (Bluey), Bob Belcher, Alfred Pennyworth, Roland Deschain, Reed Richards, Jor-El, Professor X, Jake Lockley (Moon Knight), Jack Torrance, Norman Osborne, Dracula (Castlevania), Ego, Anakin Skywalker, Gwyn: Lord of Cinder (Dark Souls), Peter Griffin, Crazy Jane's Dad (Doom Patrol), Batman, Thanos, Wolverine, Jango Fett, Peter Parker, Al Bundy, Tywin Lannister, Homer Simpson, Uncle Phil, Mufasa, Rick Grimes, Odin, Vision, Joseph Joestar, Luke Cage, Hank Hill, Eddard Stark, and more. Basically 15 good, 15 bad, and honorable mentions on both sides. A great conversation in honor of my own dad. Rest in Power Pops. Congrats on completing Level 249 of the podcast! 0:20 David RosenIf Disney+ had existed back when the MCU was getting started, what limited series do you think we would have seen then OR what characters would you have liked to see get a limited series?6:51 BrentacPrime It's my understanding while waiting on the Fox desk to close Marvel Studios couldn't actively develop anything using the Fox characters. Do you have any idea if this applies to the Netflix character? I'm curious if they can develop Daredevil for example, so long as the public release was after the two year gap?14:41 Mookie JohnsonAssuming Sony is still requiring an A-level MCU character for the next Spider-man solo film, who might we see in Spider-Man 3?23:12 Daniel DavilaHey Sean! This show is so much a part of my daily routine that it's like coffee! Just thought I'd tell you that! Heres my question, do you feel the MCU has the potential to become to big? The sheer amount of characters we grew up with and who is a fan of who is astounding. You could be an XMen fan and never have read an avengers comic book and be satisfied. Do you feel that the MCU could become to large one day? If not, then what would the overall central storyline be that would tie everything together? I'm talking a storyline that could bring the infinity stones, mutants, fantastic four, and avengers into one overarching story? Thanks again for keeping me updated on all things Marvel!33:11 Brett HeierIf all the members of the black order teamed up against 2014 thanos do you think they would win? If not, would they win if they had supergiant?34:39 Anthony Lawrey Do you think there will ever be a film based on the life of Stan Lee? Or the creation of Marvel? With films like Ford v Ferrari and First Man getting critical acclaim I can't help but feel like a film about Lee and/or Ditko would be something a studio would like to do. Maybe Marvel studios first film that's not directly a super hero film. I'd like to see Adam McKay direct it as well.40:12 Cancer PuppetHello Sean. I read a comment about the rumored Spider-Man buyout that I found intriguing. The commenter suggested that in addition to a 1-2 Billion price tag for Spidey's film rights, Disney could also offer up the rights to R-rated Fox properties that were recently acquired. Aliens, Predator, and Diehard for example. Do you think Sony would be receptive to such an arrangement?52:37 Tom DeMicheleWhat qualities make you say “This person should direct an MCU film”?58:37 David RosenBack to the Spider-Man rights discussion, if Disney were to try and buy back the rights outright, what value would you place in being able to use characters such as Norman Osborne, who may not get their own movie, but would be a big value add to the MCU as a a whole?1:02:57 LincYou're Kevin Feige. Mike Schur calls and says he wants to do "something in the MCU". What do you do?1:05:26 Giuseppe VicarettiThis might be a broad question or one that has been answered already Sean, but do you think MCU and Marvel Television will ever consolidate into one thing for Fans? Obviously there's a lot of grey area to cover with that, but is there a possibility of that ever happening?1:12:47 Mookie JohnsonIn effort to continue past the MU Book club reading from September, I just finished the Standoff crossover. My question is can you see the concept of Pleasant Hill and/or there being 2 Caps being something that shows up in the MCU down the line? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The Hulk battles dinosaurs in Colonial America. Need we say more?Affiliate link included.Transcript:Graham:Join us as we travel back in time to 1602 when Dinosaurs ruled North America. Well, at least in the Marvel 1602 universe. It's time for Marvel 1602: New World, straight ahead.Announcer:Welcome to the Classy Comics podcast where we search for the best comics in the universe. From Boise Idaho, here is your host Adam Graham. Graham:Marvel 1602: New World is a sequel to the original Marvel 1602 graphic novel by Neil Gaiman. The plot of that story took Marvel heroes and had their beginnings set in the 17th century with characters like Matt Murdock, Nick Fury, Stephen Strange, Peter Parquagh, spelt in a very old English way, as well as the X-men, though in a different form. One of the plot threads of that book is that the first child born in North America Virginia Dare came to England along with a very white Native American known as Rojhaz in order to get aid for their colony from Queen Elizabeth but unfortunately by the time they arrived, Queen Elizabeth has died in King James is in charge. It turns out Rojhaz was actually Steve Rogers, i.e, Captain America from another universe who had been sent back in time and the Age of Heroes had started early. Nick Fury returns Rojhaz to the modern times and goes himself at the end of Marvel 1602. However, that left a lot of people in this new world at the colony of Roanoke, which unlike in our universe, was not lost and Virginia Dare's life not a mystery. She lived in 1602 and got powers of her own. David Banner is hiding out having failed to capture Fury, which is what King James wanted as the book starts and J. Jonah Jameson has started a broad sheet, the Daily Trumpet and he's using Banner's young servant, Parquagh, to help with the broad sheet and to employ him since Banner has disappeared. However, early on in the story, Banner actually makes a reappearance. He is lost and confused but the Hulk takes over when dinosaurs attacked the settlement and the Hulk is able to repel the invasion. However, this proves as an opportunity for Norman Osborne. Osborne wants to get rid of the local Indians because they're not willing to deal with him and he wants their lands for reasons that are revealed later on in the book but Rojhaz had actually preparing them for what white settlers might do and so they are very wise to his ways and really not interested in trading. However, the colonist, when they see that the Hulk, are really freaked out and so they decide to pass a law banning witchbreed. Now, witchbreed is a term in Marvel 1602 for those who have superpowers. It was applied to the X-Men in the previous book but, unlike in our universe, they are not as advanced as to make a distinction, like they do in the main Marvel 616 universe, between those who have superpowers through scientific means and can be totally cool and those who are mutants and are therefore dangerous and evil and must be destroyed. So, pretty much Banner, just like the X-men, falls into the category of witchbreed and is imprisoned. However, back in England, King James begins to wonder what happened to Banner. So, he sends someone to check into what's going on and the person he sends…he sends his man, Ross, who is commanding his military forces along with a Spaniard in a suit of iron armor known as Iron Lord. So, this is a 17th century electricity powered version of Iron Man with Tony Stark inside and they eventually, when the English arrive, they arrest the governor because they had set up their own form of government and slate him to be executed. The governor is Virginia Dare's dad and this actually leads to Peter Parquagh taking on the role of The Spider after making a homemade mask and Virginia Dare lends a hand too as in this world, she has a shape shifting abilities to turn herself into any animal.

Finally we get to the 2002 blockbuster Spider-Man, and this may be our best reviewed movie yet! The same cannot be said of the Chad Kroeger song from the OST. We talk cameos, teen angst and all of the businesses that must share the same building as that "underground" wrestling enterprise. And did Peter Parker have a plan when he returned Norman Osborne's body to his home for Harry to find? We speculate!
The SIEGE of Asgard continues as Thor fights the Sentry, Captain America fights Norman Osborne, and everybody else fights each other! We learn more of Sentry's dark side, The New Avengers get their good name back, and ASGARD FALLS!! Don't miss this exciting episode!
We cover the prologue issues to the Marvel event: SIEGE! First, we recap how we got here, from 2004 all the way through the end of Dark Reign! Then, Norman Osborne shores up his cabal, Loki conspires for war on Asgard, Taskmaster's never ending kegger finally comes to an end, and Doctor Doom gets revenge without having to show up at all! We also continue our season of Superhero Big Brother, with Typhoid Mary as HOH anything could happen!
Continuing from episode 96.5, we continue talking X-MEN UTOPIA! Rogue single handedly beats the shit out of some of the Dark Avengers heaviest hitters and does her best to stop some X-Men riots from escalating. Plus Scott Summers' master plan is revealed, and he humiliates the shit out of Norman Osborne. Also, we have our SEASON FINALE of Superhero Survivor, and even we didn't see this result coming! Don't miss it!
We wrap up some Dark Reign stories! The NEW AVENGERS help Doctor Strange find a new sorcerer supreme, fight a demon, beat up a criminal and hang out with HELLSTROM and BROTHER VOODOO! We also jump back into DARK AVENGERS as Norman Osborne shows his fascist side and finally starts to seriously crack up. We also get into the final five in SUPERHERO SURVIVOR!
Secret Invasion is finally over and it's time for DARK REIGN! As the world deals with the aftermath of the Skrull invasion, SHIELD is disbanded and Norman Osborne is given the leadership of the world's spy organizations AND THE AVENGERS!! See what happens in this new episode!
In this week's ball-gassing episode, Magnus felt like reading a crapload of Spider-Man comics. Actually, nothing much new there. That's been going on for months now. But the difference this time around is the historical nature of the issues in question. Yes, it would be fair to say that Amazing Spider-Man #39-#40 and #121-#122 are of considerable historical input. And, as it happens, very influential on the live action films we've seen up to now. So there's that. But most of all, this is a treasured continuation of His Excellency's downtime before things. Get. Real. Because it won't be long now before episode #100 comes along. And shortly after that Magnus will embark upon what amounts to a year a of six episode miniseries about miscellaneous and sundry themes, topics, storylines and other stuff. Enjoy it while you can, people. For those easily tricked by click-bait teases, "You won't believe what Magnus said about Norman Osborne!" Because of the amount of discussion about the ol' funny books this week, there's no opportunity, time or willingness to soak up adoration from the teeming masses. Notwithstanding though, you lowly beggars and miscreants shouldn't feel left out. You commoners and peasants are always welcome to pay your pathetic attempt at tribute to Magnus. DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept bribes to present your missives to His Excellency for review. The email address to use is excellency@trentusmagnus.com, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise! In an act of nearly inconceivable charity, your leader permits the lowly rabble such as you to kiss his ring regarding this or any other episode. Thus, notes of homage may be sent to excellency@trentusmagnus.com for DiManzocorp interns to review.
