Summary:Nannying is a “real job” (17:58)Balancing automation with humanization (23:27)Fair pay practices (29:27)Childcare is a wildly important topic, especially for working parents and entrepreneurs. Access to trustworthy childcare can make all the difference when it comes to excelling at work or growing a business. It lifts a huge weight off parents' shoulders while also providing an invaluable and flexible source of income for sitters. Nanny and owner of Spilt Milk Nannies, Erin McDonald, took ownership of the small babysitting service 10 years ago as a junior at the University of Washington. As a sitter, she loved the business: It provided fun, flexible work in addition to creating a great community of families to work with. Erin always knew Spilt Milk had a lot of potential as a resource for families and nannies. Since taking ownership, she's helped grow Spilt Milk Nannies into a highly efficient yet human-centric brand that focuses on employing the best practices for sitters and families alike. To learn more about Erin and Spilt Milk Nannies, check out their website or LinkedIn. The Finding Fearless Podcasts primary purpose is to highlight female entrepreneurs' voices. Stacking a diverse team across generations is something to be admired. But, grappling with generational differences can be a minefield when everyone has their own preference for getting information. If you’re not sure how to get everyone on the same page, problems can arise, and miscommunication amplifies. So, how can you get a generational team to work together in harmony? Erin McDonald is the Owner of Ta Da Gymnastics Studio in Denver, CO. As a former competitive gymnast, she is extremely passionate about making gymnastics approachable for everyone. She feels every child can benefit from the sport of gymnastics no matter their age. She strives to deliver the best experience to her customers through her team, her facility, and her program.   Erin received her Bachelors from Northern Illinois University, and her MBA from Benedictine University. She spent 12 years working for Fortune 500 companies in sales and sales management roles before opening her doors in September 2018. Erin’s VIP’s include her extremely supportive husband and two very active young children.  In her limited free time, she loves to travel, practice yoga, check out local breweries, and enjoy every moment with her family. Her team spans generations with members aged 15 to over 50’s but finding an effective way to ensure organizational communication across the team has proven to be somewhat of a challenge. In this On Air coaching call, Shelli offers Erin a helping hand when it comes to managing such a wonderfully diverse team and ensuring that communication between team members is organized and understood across the board. Andrea's raving about the Lime Sablé Sandwiches by Fearless Baker author Erin McDowell (apologies for calling her Erin McDonald on the show!) and both hosts are thinking about baking with grapefruit, perhaps in the Grapefruit Almond and Lemon Thyme Cake from Ocada, or in a Grapefruit Gingersnap Pie or Grapefruit Bars. Stefin gamely embarked on the challenge of locating tapioca pearls in London, ultimately finding exactly what she needed (and many more options) at her local Asian grocery store. Our hosts and their husbands both loved the warm, comforting Coconut Tapioca Pudding with Mango and Lime from Kay Chun at Food & Wine, and Stefin thinks the smell alone earns this dessert a top spot. Up next week, an Orange Polenta Cake from Jamie Oliver that's naturally gluten-free using polenta and almond flour. If you want to bake along with us, be sure to locate some orange blossom water and cardamom pods in advance. Finally, our hosts decided to give some love to the spicy side by talking about some of their favorite savory bakes. Thanks to all of the great Preheated listeners who weighed in on the Facebook group with their favorite savory bakes: Cheese puffs, savory scones, cornbread, pumpkin cream cheese sage muffins, breakfast strata, and Lamb Swirl Buns!
