This episode is broadcast on the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel and promises to be an exciting matchup of knowledge and quick thinking. Each contestant brings unique backgrounds and expertise, making for an intriguing game show. Samantha, an author, and speaker from Dallas, Jennifer, a CEO of Koji Consultants based in Chicago, and Karen, an author and doctoral student from Oakland, New Jersey, battle it out over three rounds for the ultimate trivia champion title. In Round 1, contestants face the challenge of differentiating between titles of MTV shows and Goosebumps books. Samantha starts off on a rocky note by incorrectly guessing "Scream School" as an MTV show, but later redeems herself by correctly identifying "You can't scare me" as Goosebumps. Jennifer initially guesses wrong but quickly recovers by correctly identifying multiple Goosebumps titles like "Fright Camp" and "Calling all creeps." Karen showcases her keen eye by correctly guessing "Brain Juice" and "Legend of lost legend" as Goosebumps, but like her counterparts, she also has a misstep with "The beast from the east." By the end of this round, Karen and Jennifer lead with two points each, while Samantha trails with one point. In Round 2, the contestants continue their trivia adventure with Jennifer kicking off the "Tribons Game." Jennifer smoothly connects "Truffle, Morel, Sep" as mushrooms and correctly identifies "Chocolate rice, Tapioca" as puddings and "Slip joint, Locking grip, Needle nose" as pliers. The "Name Five Challenge" mixes up the tempo as Jennifer names four out of five fall foods and drinks before the clock runs out. Karen shines through this round by successfully identifying several trivia questions related to historical events, board games, and geography. Notably, she accurately names five types of fall clothing. The competition intensifies with Samantha giving strong performances by correctly identifying various subjects, including answering a gaming segment by determining things that are "laid."Finally, the buzzer-based final round brings heightened tension as the contestants race to answer questions for extra points. Samantha, Jennifer, and Karen bring their creativity with fun buzzers. With fast-paced engagement, Karen manages to pull ahead with correct identifications like "Monopoly" as the game published in 1935 and "Philadelphia" from a location-based question. Jennifer catches up by correctly identifying "Volga River" and "Roger Federer," while Samantha notably adds to her score with strong answers despite starting with a penalty for earlier incorrect guesses in the game. The final scoreboard reflects Karen as the trivia champion with 13 points, followed closely by Jennifer and Samantha.Overall, episode 165 of "Stuff I Never Knew" offers an exhilarating mix of trivia categories and showcases the distinctive knowledge of each contestant. Karen takes home the victory and uses the platform to promote her upcoming book, "Dying for a Massage," scheduled for release in early December. Jennifer's expertise in business and software consulting shines through, and Samantha's heartfelt journey and book on dealing with betrayal trauma add depth to the episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corgiov/message

Essay 1: TapiocaA new series of essays written and read by the very popular Fiona Stafford, Professor of Literature at Somerville College, Oxford, following her much praised series of essays The Meaning of Trees and Composers and their Dogs. Here Fiona explores some of the world's favourite puddings, all of which have surprising stories and have become symbols far beyond the pudding bowl. Tapioca is equally loved and loathed; this hot and cold 'frogspawn' pudding's story is reverse imperialism; an east Asian dessert with many guises, seen as old-fashioned in Britain, now hyper-trendy, conquering new global markets as 'pearls' in bubble tea. Key ingredient: starch from cassava. It is native to South America, taken to Asia and Africa by Portuguese merchants, it is also made into alcoholic drinks. Tapioca, a global staple food, bringing British school dinners many comic tales of revulsion. symbolises one of many puddings that came to Europe from 'the colonies' and was embraced and customised in the UK. Haters will easily believe it is used as a biodegradable plastic substitute (a renewable, reusable, recyclable eco-product) to make bags, gloves and aprons and as the starch used for starching shirts before ironing. Seeing tapioca is a primeval experience; it is viewing the elements that combine to form new life, the ova, the massive spawn of fish or frogs, the quantity ensuring some survive; speaking to us all with wonder or disgust.Producer – Turan Ali A Bona Broadcasting production for BBC Radio 3

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Audrey: Hi Dr. Cabral, I noticed on your resource page you do not have the Berky water filter listed anymore. Instead you have the Aqua True listed. Why is that? It seems like the Berky is a better choice because it is stainless steal and vs. the Aqua Tru that has a plastic carafe which would lead to leaching. Thanks so much for all you do!   Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral.. In baking recipes there's often tapioca starch or cornstarch.. same with gluten free flours.. If I wanted to substitute those in recipes (or make my own gluten free flour in a healthier way), what would be good substit utes? Are arrowroot powder and cassava flour good, healthier options? As per my (Google) research, they are not interchangeable - don't have the same effect.. do you have any suggestions? What does your family usually use in baking? Thank you and happy healing, everyone..    Melissa: Hi Dr. Cabral- is it possible to heal group B strep? If so, what are the ways to do this? Thank you!   Desiree: I've been told that our bodies more efficiently absorb animal nutrients and protein; and these nutritionists have references and studies to support this. Of course all of these people agree on getting your animal products from grass fed/finished, non gmo, no hormones, pasture raised farms. People also discuss anti-nutrients in vegetables (which I know can be greatly reduced with cooking). They urge people to use animal fats to cook with due to the low chance of oxidation and that saturated fats have been unfairly demonized. With meat being one of the most nutrient dense foods one can eat when properly sourced. I suppose my question is, is there validity to a diet that is more meat/animal centered? Also what are your thoughts on absorption and anti-nutrients in vegetables vs meat.   Steve: I have chronically low vitamin D levels. I also have crohns disease which contributes to the low D along with low iron, b-12 and some other lab red flags. I have very high inflammation labels from both CRP and fecal calprotectin tests. I had been taking 10,000 i.u.'s of D for a long time and my D level on my most recent test was 23. I also live in arizona and get quite a bit of sun. I have started taking 25,000 i.u's a day of D (along with K2) to see if that will be enough to get my D level up. I really hate to go much higher than that, but I might have to. I am starting to believe that I will never get my inflammation markers down if I dont get my D up     Desiree: I was wondering if you could do a product review on fairlife nutrition plan 30g protein shake. I also have a question about milk and dairy. I know you have an entire podcast on how it's essential to cut out dairy from cows but I'm hoping as long as you get high quality dairy if that makes a difference? I'm a bit of a milk fiend and cutting it out of my diet fills me with sadness. Thank you for everything you do! Preparing food gluten free is not easy. For those newly diagnosed, or someone cooking or baking for them, it's a steep learning curve. I am often asked for advice on how to set up a gluten free kitchen to make food preparation and baking easier. On this episode I speak with Robyn of Robyn's Gluten Free Baking Courses for advice and practical tips to set up your gluten free kitchen to make baking fun and hassle free. Both Robyn and I have been baking gluten free for years, and we've come up with some handy tips to take some of the stress out of so many flours and the different equipment you might need. Here's Robyn's list of flours other information she sent me – What I keep in large jars (used most often): ·  Brown rice flour ·  White rice flour ·  Sorghum flour ·  Gluten-free Oat flour ·  Tapioca starch ·  Potato starch ·  Corn starch (though I just keep it in the large container from Costco!) ·  Almond flour: I also always have almond flour on hand, but I also buy the large bag from Costco and keep it in the fridge. Other flours I like to have. I usually keep them in smaller jars or buy them as I need them: ·  Teff flour ·  Millet flour ·  Buckwheat flour ·  Sweet rice flour (I mainly use it during the holidays) I also keep a small to medium-sized jar of xanthan gum in my baking drawer.   For those who might be overwhelmed with the number of ingredients listed here, my 6 must-have list for basic gluten-free baking are brown rice flour, white rice flour, almond flour, potato starch, tapioca starch, and cornstarch (as well as xanthan gum). These are all of the GF baking ingredients I use to make everything in my Essentials Course.  These are the jars I use for my everyday baking (what I consider to be "large jars"). If I buy even larger quantities of flour than what fits in the jars, I will keep them stored away and refill when necessary. Here's the link to order her very trendy aprons – https://shop.glutenfreebakingcourses.com/ This is what my bread pans are like. They are normally used for a steam table in a restaurant, but they work amazingly well for bread in the oven. They are ¼, which means they are ¼ of a full steam table pan. They come in different depths, but I find the 4” one is best for gluten free bread. In this episode of Ruby for All, Andrew and Julie kick off with their excitement for RubyConf and then introduce their special guest Ufuk Kayserilioglu, an Engineering Manager at Shopify, to discuss his passion for Ruby and his contributions to the Ruby community.  They also touch upon the importance of mastering your choice of programming language and diving into the work of first principle thinking. Ufuk explains the concept of ‘Triple equals' as his favorite Ruby method and offers valuable insight into the open source community.  The discussions wrap up with Ufuk expressing his anticipation for RubyConf and encourages a more communal and interactive setting for programmers. Press download now to hear much more! [00:00:08] Julie and Andrew are super excited to attend RubyConf but they both are preoccupied with work things going on. [00:00:55] Ufuk introduces himself and discusses his job at Shopify and their mandate to ensure Ruby and Rails remain foundational for the next century, including community, tooling, and industry preference. He also shares his background in physics and academia, and his transition to programming for the instant gratification of seeing solutions in action. [00:03:00] Andrew seeks Ufuk's advice on the relevance of learning Ruby on Rails in 2023 for job prospects.  Ufuk suggests learning Ruby for enjoyment, rather than just for career advantages, emphasizing curiosity and learning for its own sake.[00:07:30] Julie asks about the depth of learning one language versus branching out. Ufuk advises mastery of tools and languages used professionally, comparing it to fluency in human languages.  He advocates for learning multiple programming languages to gain different perspectives and solutions. Andrew, identifying with ADHD, questions the notion of mastery and emphasizes learning patterns in programming that are universal across languages. [00:12:50] Julie inquires about what it feels like to master Ruby, and Ufuk clarifies that mastery isn't about typing speed but about understanding how to implement complex modules and APIs naturally in Ruby, recognizing and applying patterns without having to think hard about the language itself. [00:14:34] Julie questions if there is a deliberate practice to reach mastery faster than just building repeatedly. Ufuk compares mastering programming to an artistic endeavor, such as playing a musical instrument, and suggests that various practices lead to a flow state of mastery. [00:16:27] Ufuk adds that observing skilled individuals and pairing with more knowledgeable programmers accelerates learning. He mentions RubyConf Community Day and his role in organizing a hack day, aiming to connect newcomers with experienced project leaders to foster learning and collaboration. [00:18:15] What does Ufuk love about the Ruby community? He praises the community's openness and willingness to collaborate, despite occasional drama and tension, finding value in the free exchange of information and collaboration. [00:20:15] Julie asks about Ufuk's history and evolution in the Ruby community. He reflects on his journey with Ruby since around 2012, evolving from building projects to actively participating in the community. [00:22:35] Andrew inquires about what Ufuk is looking forward to in San Diego. He expresses his excitement for the hack day he's co-organizing, viewing the conference as an offsite for the Ruby open source community, focusing on building things and active collaboration beyond just attending talks. Julie is looking forward to experience RubyConf's new format firsthand, and Andrew voices a complaint about the RubyConf website lacking detailed info on the event schedule and format.[00:27:39] Julie wants to know how to apply “first principles” thinking to programming. Ufuk explains that this approach involves understanding the fundamental concepts underlying a problem and using them to find solutions. [00:30:48] Julie mentions Ufuk's RailsConf 2020 talk about peeling the layers of the network, and he shares how he created a mini website to accompany his talk.[00:34:34] Lastly, Andrew asks Ufuk about his favorite Ruby method, to which Ufuk responds that it's the Triple equals (===) operator, explaining its utility and how it's used in type checking and inclusion checks within the Ruby language. [00:37:23] Andrew expresses his need to find a Sorbet or RBS expert because he has reservations about Sorbet and wishes to be convinced of its benefits, which Ufuk agrees to connect Andrew with a Sorbet expert and that during Ruby Conf and they could work together on “sorbitizing” a piece of Andrew's code to demonstrate the practicality of it. Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Podcast

Let's talk about how to flatten your belly fast. Crunches are not the secret to six-pack abs. To get flat abs and avoid poor posture or back pain at the same time, you need to balance exercises like crunches with other types of exercise, like back exercises. Two of the best types of exercises for belly fat are long walks or hikes and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). While exercise is important, diet is more critical when it comes to losing belly fat. The best fat-burning diet is the Healthy Keto® diet. This is a combination of high-quality protein, low-starch vegetables, and other nutrient-dense, low-carb foods. Intermittent fasting is also beneficial to help you lose weight and get healthy. You may want to add more fat to your diet initially to help you fast for longer periods. But, once you become adapted and start losing fat, you may want to cut back the fat you consume. You can take certain remedies for fat-burning, but realize these won't work unless you also change your diet. A few of the best fat-burning supplements include: • Garcinia Cambogia • Raspberry ketones • Green tea extract • Caffeine • Chili pepper extract In some cases, you might mistake bloating for belly fat. Intermittent fasting can help decrease bloating. Bloating could mean you also need more acid in your stomach. Betaine hydrochloride is the best remedy for bloating caused by a lack of stomach acid. A lack of bile can also create bloating. In this case, you could try taking bile salts. Top foods that cause bloating include: • Fruit • Yogurt • Beans • Grains • Almond flour • Sugar alcohols • Tapioca fiber • Soluble corn fiber • Plant-based green shakes or protein shakes If you have IBS or an inflammatory condition in your gut, you may want to try the carnivore diet for a little while to see if that helps reduce bloating. To flatten your stomach fast, you also need to lower your stress. Walking, physical work, and getting plenty of sleep are great ways to reduce stress. If you're going into menopause, it's also essential to support your adrenal glands to help avoid stubborn belly fat down the road.

Hola mi gente, welcome to the  “The Aguacate Chronicles”, I'm your host Giraldo Luis Alvaré. Gracias for listening. Last episode, Renata and I touched on the importance of a balanced diet and food from the source minus the preservatives. Keep in mind, It's good to live a little and have some pork chops and chicharrones. I mean, who doesn't like a good chuleta? I know I do. There's nothing wrong with some fried food. All in moderation. We also left you dreaming of arepas. Whether you like to have them filled with chicken, cheese, meat and of course aguacate. It's all good. On the menu for this episode we got platanos, gallo pinto, arroz, arina y huevos frito. Plantains, rice and beans, cornmeal and fried eggs. Mmmm. Hay hambre mi gente. Ta-ta-tapioca! Temos aí a monarquia brasileira verdadeira: o milho é o rei, a mandioca é a rainha e a tapioca é a “rainha suplente” do Brasil! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Kari: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thank you so much for all that you do! You're much loved. I recently landed in the ER with a ruptured appendix. Apparently, I had an obstruction (fecalith) that led to the inflammation and ultimate rupture. I'm 51, so this isn't common in my age group, and I eat incredibly clean. I literally follow the same diet you recommend and don't even do the cheat meals. I worked for four years to recover my gut, so this is heartbreaking in a lot of ways. My question is what could have caused the obstruction? From what I've read, it normally happens to those that eat more of a western diet and don't get enough fiber. I'm not constipated, eat plenty of fiber and honestly don't know what more I could have done. Thank you!!   Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral :) I listened to your podcast where you said tapioca starch is difficult to digest.. what would be a good substitute for it in recipes? Also, do you have a good substitute for nutritional yeast in recipes? Thank you so much and happy healing to everyone!   Sam: Dr. Cabral thank you so much for all that you do. Your work has helped so many people. I even tell my naturopathic doctor about things I learn on your podcasts. I have a very strange question. One of my armpits omits a very strong onion-y odor when I sweat. Until more recently, my body never produced much sweat in general. Now when I sweat, my right armpit will have a slight body odor, but my left will have a pungent onion odor. I have tried baking soda and antibacterial soaps, but the smell always returns. Do you have any recommendations to help what I assume is a bacteria or yeast imbalance in the affected armpit? (There are no other localized symptoms besides the smell, although I have had systemic issues with Candida, mold, and heavy metals in the past)   Anonymous: Hello! My question is about gingival fibromatosis. I'm not sure if that is what I am experiencing but after some googling I think it might be. I have always had a gummy smile and when I was in my late teen years I had surgery to fix it, where I was told that I had excess bone on my teeth and that gum grows over bone. So, they had to scrap off the excess bone for my gums to recede. This worked great and I was told as long as I floss and keep up on my oral health I wouldn't have anymore issues. However, now 8 years later I am starting to have a gummy smile again. I did some more research and it says this can be caused by hormonal imbalances, I do have PCOS so that makes sense. I am currently working with an IHP for my PCOS but I was wondering if you had any suggestions for my gummy smile.   Justin: What are your thoughts on Benfotiamine? I've never heard you talk about it, but have heard other functional medicine clinicians say it's the one of the few beneficial synthetic vitamins. Also, I've heard that the reason B vitamins are yellow is because they are synthesized from sewer sludge, is this something you've heard of?   Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions!    - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/2710 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept?
