After spending nearly 27 years in the pharmaceutical industry learning about traditional medicine, Stacey Millhorn faced her own battle with chronic pain, including migraines and muscle/joint pain. Despite being prescribed various medications and undergoing physical therapy, she struggled with side effects and sought alternatives. Her search led her to Pilates, but it was discovering infrared sauna and float therapy at Pure Sweat Studios in Nashville that truly transformed her health. Regular sessions helped ease her pain, improve her sleep, and boost her mood. After moving to Utah and unable to find a similar experience, Stacey seized the opportunity to bring the Pure Sweat Studios franchise to Utah. The first location opened in Park City in May 2023, followed by South Jordan in November 2023. Terry tries float therapy at ZeroGravity Float Centre for the first time!
Amy sat down with her friend, Meredith Lile, to talk about the benefits of float therapy. Meredith first started floating to help with her anxiety and she loved it so much that she decided to open two studios of her own in the Nashville area: Pure Sweat + Float Brentwood and Pure Sweat + Float Cool Springs. Meredith explains what float therapy is and the benefits (sleep being one of them because of all the magnesium that's in the float tub!!) She also shares 4 things she's thankful for (one of the things being her husband's sobriety…which is such a blessing!) FLOAT THERAPY BENEFITS: The buoyancy and healing effects created by the dense Epsom salt solution removes the feeling of gravity on the body, relieves all pressure and stress that gravity normally places on one's muscles and joints, aiding in pain relief. The reduction of environmental stimulation - such as sight, talk, interruption and noise - enables the mind to become tranquil and clear. Provides Deep Relaxation Lowers Blood Pressure + Heart Rate Reduces Stress on Spine, Hips + Joints Relieves Pain + Muscle Soreness Boosts Hair + Skin Health Restores Magnesium + Sulfate Lowers Cortisol, Acth, Lactic Acid + Adrenaline Improves Circulation Distributes Oxygen + Nutrients Increases Endorphins Aids in Visualization + Creativity Boosts Performance Relieves Insomnia, Fatigue + Jet Lag PS+FS Brentwood: https://www.puresweatfloatstudio.com/brentwood PS+FS CoolSprings: https://www.puresweatfloatstudio.com/coolsprings Best places to find more about Amy: RadioAmy.com + @RadioAmy Tickets to Amy's 4 Things LIVE Event In Wichita, Kansas: https://selectaseat.com/amy See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Float therapy is a type of therapy that is done in a sensory deprivation tank or "pod." The pod or suite is usually dark, soundproof, and filled with saltwater. The warm saltwater offers relaxation and relief to tired, aching joints and muscles while the quiet environment offers a perfect opportunity to hear your own thoughts or remember (dhikr) Allaah without any interruption!!! In this episode, we'll discuss Float Therapy in a little more detail as well as chat about the importance of attaching ourselves to the Qur'an and Sunnah. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/willena-brooks/support
Get ready for a groovy show with Max Casa! Max is an expert on float therapy—you may have seen or heard about sensory deprivation tanks, and centers devoted to this practice have been popping up all over the world, as it has become incredibly popular in recent years. I did my first float five year ago and I have been feeling inspired to go back regularly, as I can attest that there really is no other experience, therapeutic or otherwise, like this on the planet—most notably because you are suspended in an extremely saline solution—many times more saline than the Dead Sea! This means you can lay in water that is only a foot high and still be completely floating. Float therapy is the only time in your life, other than when you are in the womb, when you are not subjected to the powerful force of gravity, and with the lights off and the sound quiet, you are depriving your senses for the first time. This is such a unique and powerful practice, and quieting your mind and disconnecting your mind from your body and the pressure of gravity delivers comprehensive benefits you can experience for quite some time after exiting your session. Max will detail all these benefits in this show, and one of the big benefits you can get out of this practice is the ability to absorb the extremely important mineral magnesium transdermally (through the skin). This is because when you are getting this heavy salt solution (typically made with Epsom salt at most float centers, but Max uses a custom blend that he calls ‘magnesium salt'), you are getting a nice dose of magnesium in a very efficient way as it absorbs immediately into your bloodstream. I've talked a lot about magnesium supplementation lately as I've seen a huge change personally with the addition of BiOptimizer's Magnesium Breakthrough supplement, and it's becoming more and more apparent that we really need to focus on magnesium supplements, because our diets just do a pretty poor job of meeting our needs—Max quotes research that says 95% of Westerners are deficient in magnesium, which has all kinds of important effects on cellular function and metabolism in the body, so a float center is a great way to up your magnesium game. We're going to talk about floatation, magnesium, and this really interesting life change Max and his partner and their small child embarked upon recently when they left the metropolis of Boston and flew to Hawaii to live on a self-sustaining farm. This is such a cool and inspiring story to hear about young people just going for it in life—uprooting themselves and looking for that never-ending journey of personal growth. Enjoy some fun insights with Max Casa! TIMESTAMPS: There is no other therapeutic treatment like float therapy. [01:00] Max got into Float Therapy because of fighting his own physical ailments successfully. [05:54] These float tanks are filled with about 10 to 14inches of saline water for the body to get in. There is nothing comparable to putting your mind and body into that situation. [10:23] One of the largest stressors to our nervous system is gravitational stress. [15:36]What happens to the brain when it's allowed to let go of that intense connection to the skeleton and the muscles? [16:34] After a floatation session, how long does the sensory feeling last? [20:58] Dose the person fall asleep in the chamber? Meditation? [24:20] There are four different brain states involved in this therapy. [26:45] Magnesium is very important for our health. Over 95% of Westerners are magnesium deficient. [30:28] Float Therapy has become very popular around the world. There are many benefits. Max Casa, The Shamanic Sensei, is an accomplished lifelong martial artist, performance coach and medicine man. Before becoming the founder of Max Vitality, Max trained day and night, for over a decade aiming to become the next top UFC Featherweight prospect. His drive to become the best led him down the rabbit hole of biohacking and all around performance optimization. After countless health obstacles, Max dedicated himself to finding the easiest and most effective recovery therapy. Max discovered float therapy, also known as sensory deprivation, hoping it would aid in his physical recovery. He soon realized that simply lying suspended in a silent, dark, saltwater filled tank, not only healed his body, but simultaneously enhanced his mind and deepened his connection with spirit. Max now aims to spread his knowledge on the benefits of floating, magnesium, minerals and energy, in hopes to help others strengthen and balance their mind, body and spirit. She joined Clare to talk about how this can be applied to children, particularly when so many of them just constantly ask for snacks or treats – can you really introduce a life with no food rule? And Clare paid a visit to Drift Float Therapy and Salt Caves in Dublin for a few hours of bliss
