The thing that's exceptional about you is probably the thing you've stopped noticing. After enough years of high performance, the things you do better than almost anyone get filed away as "obvious" or "easy" or "everyone can do that." Even when they're genuinely rare. That's the Signature Strengths problem most high performers walk into a career change with. They're great at things they don't even count as strengths, and they can't tell you what they're truly built for because they've never named it. In Day 1 of the What Fits You 8-Day Mini Course, you'll start separating what you're great at from what you actually want to keep doing. Because being excellent at something isn't the same as it being a fit, and the gap between those two is where most career changes go wrong. What you'll learn: Why "I'm a good leader" and "I'm great with people" aren't actually Signature Strengths The specific definition of a Signature Strength, and why it's the foundation for every career change that actually fits Why the things that come most naturally to you are usually the things you've stopped noticing The Strengths Reflection Exercise that surfaces patterns years of self-assessment tools missed Why even high performers who've done this work for years often don't know their Signature Strengths until someone helps them dig deeper Our book, Happen To Your Career: An Unconventional Approach To Career Change and Meaningful Work, is now available on audiobook! Judge Vince Chhabria is a district court judge in the Northern District of California. When I shared with previous podcast guests I was interviewing Judge Chhabria, the excitement was palpable - these experienced litigators think of Judge Chhabria as "insightful", "focused", and "sharp", and this is a rare opportunity to learn how an influential judge thinks.Judge Chhabria and I talked about:- his unexpected path from the office of the San Francisco City Attorney's Office to the bench, any why city attorney roles are so valuable. - the surprising impact of case management on justice, and how few motions are decided by precedent- what keeps the job interesting 11 years into the role- why moving cases forward is an underrated part of public service- the "memdispo" technique that efficiently allocates judicial resources to opinions - what he misses most about not being a federal judge- his most important career advice for his clerksWe also discuss how he researched and considered precedent for the recent Kadrey v. Meta decision on fair use in generative AI. Any lawyer looking for an original approach to career decisions and how they practice should listen to this episode.

In this episode, Chabidaye discusses:The real problem with work-life balance Setting boundaries for balance Making your habits serve you Discovering your priority and creating harmony Key Takeaways:Work-life balance is not really a balance issue. The issue is that we have no boundaries and we let activities bleed into all other aspects of life. Shift your perspective from balancing hours to introducing boundaries for your work time, your family time, and your personal time. Measure yourself on each key area. Our habits shape most of our actions during the day. If your habits are not supporting you, then know that you have the power to change them and you must change them if you truly do want to create the balance that you want in your life. Knowing your top priority will help you make decisions in your life that are aligned with that. Being congruent with what matters in your heart will make you feel happier with yourself because you will feel that you are doing the thing that you need to do. "People say they don't have time. I've been involved in the personal development industry for just about a decade - 6 of those years directly coaching and building a business. I've been around the block in terms of the kind of gurus there are in this industry and have experienced a lot of different schools of thought when it comes to the ways you can make your business successful, grow your income and your influence etc and in this episode I want to shed some light on some of the more formulaic things that are being peddled that I think that are ultimately huge distractions that especially for women, are keeping us from doing fulfilling work. . It is more important than ever, in this noisy culture that wants to tell us the formula for ‘success', that we sift through the nonsense and tune into our own intuition and desires. If you're looking for some coaching support, here are three ways you can work with me right now: 1. Over the summer I have a few spaces available for VIP Days. If you need a more in depth burst of strategy and clarity but are short on time, join me for an in-person (or virtual online) day of getting clear, strategic and excited about the next stage of your business. These days have been amazing for my clients. We solve problems, generate new ideas and ways of working and have the best time doing it. 2. Join my Brand Builder Group Programme! It is GLORIOUS! I've been running this programme ongoing for the last year and it really is so special. It's part self-learning, part live group-coaching and right now I have a beautiful group of female business owners going through the modules to help them create super sonic clarity, greater self-belief and ways of working that completely change the game for their energy and goals in their businesses. If you'd like to hear more about it, click here or let's find a time to chat about where things are at for you and if this could be the right next step in developing you and your work. Book a call with me here! 3. If you're not a business owner but you think your workplace could benefit from some coaching and training from me to help bring more connection to your teams and better ways of working when it comes to challenges and change, then I'd love to chat about that too. One of my hero's is Zig Ziglar. He had hundreds of quotes about money and life. One of the most insightful is “money won't make you happy . . . but everybody wants to find out for themselves”. This is so true and I have seen it show up in my life and the lives of so many clients over the years that it is almost a cliche. The pursuit of the all mighty dollar is not a bad thing, as Zig says, “Money isn't the most important thing in life, but it's reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it' scale”. The problem is that sometimes the primary criteria for deciding what work we do, is how much it pays and the potential opportunity. If that is our primary focus we may end up doing work that pays well but is ultimately unfulfilling. The key is to find that balance and remember that wealth building is a marathon, not a sprint. And a key aspect of staying in the race is doing work that is deeply fulfilling and meaningful. Join us today as we talk about the the book Wanting by Luke Burgis and the importance of fulfilling work when it comes to staying in the game of building a future.

This possibility lies in co-creating our organizations and the way we work. Many people feel hopeless about being fulfilled at work in a corporate job. But I am convinced that it is possible. There are many organizations that created a framework that made it possible. Even if we don't work in such an organization, we can bring these principles to our lives and co-create fulfilling work.In this episode, I am raving about and reflecting on the learnings from the book of Frederic Laloux called "Reinventing Organizations".You can find the notes of the book on uniquecareersuniquelives.com/episode51Host : Isil Uysal CalvelliWant to connect? We all desire to live a fulfilling life, the issue happens when we seek that fulfillment in the work that we do. The truth is our occupation might not always fulfill us, but the source of conflict might surprise you. If you're seeking a way to do more meaningful work, it starts with understanding your values and who you want to be in the world. In this episode, we discuss the importance of your values being aligned with your work in order to start living a more fulfilled life.
What's the purpose of work? How do I find a job/company/role that fulfills me? Is it realistic for work to be meaningful? How much can I really expect from my job? Questions around "meaningful work" are by far the most popular we get in our DMs and emails, so today I'm sharing the five questions I use to reflect on where I am in my work life. These questions are designed to help us discern where and how God is calling us to work in our current season! I try to reflect on them at least twice a year. Our lives are meant to be intentional, and we're all about helping one another be bold in our faith, work, and lives. The five questions: Do I have a vision of where this role is taking me? Is there something else that God is calling me to right now? Am I being realistic about my state in the workforce or am I being idealistic? How is this job affecting my mental, spiritual, and physical health? Do I have fair expectations for what work is and the place it has in my life?
In this episode, Benji talks to Emily Melious, Fulfillment Coach andCEO of Launch Consulting. Fulfilling work can seem elusive. How do we even measure it? Today Emily gives us three key areas she believes lead to fulfillment. This conversation goes beyond tactics and tips we typically discuss on the podcast and drives at the heart of our work as marketing teams.

#951: There are key, intrinsic activities and aspects of work that truly make you come alive and within which are your greatest opportunities for top level success, and your greatest fulfillment and joy. But we don't tend to realize what they are. We attribute them to a specific job or business and the roles we had, the product or service we were involved with, the people included. But nearly every job or business ends or significantly changes and we lose it and try to recreate it based on those external ingredients. And often can't recreate it. Why? Because those are not the right ingredients. To showcase what the right ingredients are, I have Jonathan Fields back on the show. Jonathan was with me years ago and we talked about his book, How To Live A Good Life. He has a really big podcast called the Good Life Project, and now he's put together a work profile you can take for free at sparketype.com, and he goes deep into what sparks us in our work, in his new book, Sparked. As 2021 winds down and we approach the new year it is so easy to get caught up in the chaos of the holiday season and right off the end of the year is a loss, putting our goals and our intentions aside and telling ourselves, "We're going to start fresh again in January." But then inevitably, when the New Year hits and we create resolutions, life still gets in the way, which leads to over 92% of New Year's resolutions failing. Don't worry, I'm just as guilty as anybody else. If you intend to make things happen in 2022, you don't need resolutions. You need a plan. That's why for the next five weeks, I'm going to share with you my top five interviews on designing a more fulfilling life, setting goals, building habits and taking actions that get you long term results. Imagine if instead of crawling to the finish line for the next five weeks in a haze of holiday indulgence, you instead took the time to identify your true values, prioritize your life down to only the essential, learn to set habits that you'll stick with, and ultimately focus on doing important work that matters to you. How much further ahead of the game would you be? Now I'm not saying you have to start exercising five days a week, stop eating sugar and carbs, wake up and meditate at 5am every morning, or add 20 new activities to your daily routine during the most stressful month of the year. But wouldn't it be awesome to start 2022 with at least clear plan and the motivation to get started? Well, if this sounds like a better alternative then stick with me for the next five weeks as I and five of the world's foremost experts on setting goals and getting things done help you design a plan so 2022 can be the year that everything finally comes together for you. → Click here to go to the original episode show notes of the interview with Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar → Click here to get my free 5-part email course that will help you get started on your hero's journey

When it comes to my work here at New Inceptions, one of the most often asked questions I've received is "JC, how did you find your why?" 10 years ago, I wouldn't have really known what they were talking about. I hadn't really thought about my motivators in life. Sure, I had thought about my personality and what I was naturally attracted to doing, but not what actually goes behind that thinking. In fact, when I first heard Simon Sinek's "Start with Why" presentation, it made since how he was relating it to companies, but it hadn't really clicked for me how it related to people. That wouldn't be until later. However, someone it did click with at the personal level was the founder of the Why Institute, Gary Sanchez. In this chat, Gary's right hand man, Dan Dominguez shares with us in his own words where he was when he stumbled upon Gary's work and how Gary actually put the work together.More specifically we'll learn how Dan is now living his best life due to the work Gary has done as founder of the Why Institute. If you're still struggling to figure out your own Why, perhaps getting some time with Dan might be in your not too distant future? Enjoy! SPECIFICALLY, YOU'LL FIND OUT MORE ABOUT: What were the circumstances that pushed Dan to start searching for a career change? 11:05Why did Dan actually decided to join Gary to help build the Why Institute? 24:46Are there certain questions the Why Institute employs to find someone's Why? 29:59What does Dan want for people to remember as the world continues past the pandemic? 38:53What are some of the things he's looking forward to moving forward with the Why Institute? 42:38Which three books does he share with other people? 45:07What message out there is a disservice to youth? 45:46Is there something he'd like to do in his life that no one knows about? 47:30Provided it was cost free, what ad would he place out in the world? 48:25How can someone quickly find out if they're already living their personal mission? 49:47 ITEMS and PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Dan Online: Website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, InstagramCohost: Veronica KirinPowered By: FizzleRoad Less Stupid - Keith Cunningham (Amazon Link)Heroic Leadership - Chris Lowney (Amazon Link)Play bigger - Al Ramadan (Amazon Link)Copper Canyon Races Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. Laura Coe is an entrepreneur, author, and mom. At 24, she co-founded a healthcare tech business and later sold it to a Fortune 500 where she stayed on as an executive. After 11 years of success in business, she found herself very successful, and very unfulfilled. So, she tried yoga, alternative medicine, and anything she thought would help me feel fulfilled. But nothing worked. Obsessed with the idea of fulfillment, she dove into its philosophical roots and discovered that she was "emotionally obese"-- she had layers upon layers of assumptions, fears, and negative thoughts that had piled on over the years like "emotional fat" and in order to lose them, she had to learn to shed the "emotional weight." In This Episode: Organizing Information can be profitable. Figuring out purpose in work. Understanding who you surround yourself with. How to understand what people are really saying. The value in mentorship. Learning when and how to delegate. Understanding the difficulty in being an entrepreneur. Laura's Favorite Quote: "The still point in the turning world." — T.S.
