Halloween's over but the chaos isn't. Kevin declares war on trunk-or-treaters, Jose survives his first Halloween Horror Nights, and Chase learns the hard way that "picture time" means no one's safe — not even his vacation selfies. Meanwhile, a Florida Man headline derails everything, the Big Board goes nuclear, and somehow Sublime with Rome ends up in the crossfire. It's spooky season, bad decisions, and pure Cup to Cup energy.
The conservatory gates have closed for good and HHN 34 is now just a memory. The question is, was it a good memory? We review all aspects of Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando for HHN 2025. Was Terrifier the shining IP it was expected to be? Did Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks impress non-believers? We'll not only discuss the houses, zones, and shows but we'll of course provide our final rankings for them.10% off Horrors Untold:https://horrorsuntold.com/product/horrors-untold/aff/5/Follow HHN 365 on social media:Instagram HHN365Twitter @HHN365TikTok: @HHN365podJoin our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/jUD9nZav2UMerch: HHN365.comFeatured audio is courtesy of White Bat Audio
Send us a Question!MOVIE DISCUSSION: Kathryn joins Melvin to discuss Scott Derrickson's latest horror feature, Black Phone 2! The two get into what sets it apart from other franchises like A Nightmare on Elm Street, how it holds up against the first film, and how it's... more Christian? Oh snap! Topics:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 23-minutes discussing Sigourney Weaver saying at NYCC 2025 that there's a "very strong first 50 pages" script of Alien that includes Ripley, and where she is at the time, and the two wonder both earnestly and cynically about the idea of a Ripley-included Alien sequel in the 2020s (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) First things first... is it A Nightmare on Elm Street meets Friday the 13th?Exploring the pervasive online joke that The Grabber, as a new "slasher icon", is an industry plant, and why it may feel that way.The dialogue here is bad. Full stop. The drama works if you buy into it, but the bad dialogue is a heavy cost.Kathryn and Melvin both had this fear: is Scott Derrickson just gonna do Sinister again? Thankfully, the answer is more nuanced than that. The spirituality isn't Deistic and the way Gwen prays and interacts with Jesus is as though Jesus is an active, non-corporeal character in the film.Talking Terrence, The Grabber, and Finn. There's no doubt in Melvin's mind that Scott Derrickson is evoking real-life Protestant Camp abuse tales with the drama and setting in Black Phone 2, including Kanakuk Kamp, LifeWay Camp, and Matt Chandler's church.Kathryn, "Knowing the truth, believing the truth, and speaking the truth can be really scary."Recommendations:In the Mouth of Madness (1995) (Movie)Caveat (2021) (Movie)Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks! Halloween didn't just arrive at theme parks; it was engineered, rehearsed, and unleashed from a fog-soaked street in Buena Park. We dive into the wild origin story of Knott's Scary Farm, tracing the DNA from mid-century horror hosts to the first freestanding mazes, the invention of roaming monsters, and the culture of sliders sparking their way through Calico. It's a saga packed with scrappy ingenuity, late-night TV legend, and a berry (boysen) farm that accidentally became the Godfather of haunt season. We unpack the rise of Sinister Seymour's razor-edged hosting, the disco-chaos of Wolfman Jack (including a gloriously unlicensed “Star Wars” detour), and the polished power of Elvira, whose partnership with John Paragon made legendary Vegas-style Camp. From the early witch's gallows that genuinely chilled to The Hanging's later pop-culture satire, we examine where tone elevates fear and where it dilutes it. Then we step inside the design shop: Dominion of the Dead's monochrome beauty, classic illusions like Spidora, and a philosophy that favors original concepts over IP—teaching generations of builders to craft story with light, sound, and movement. We also wrestle with the boundaries. Trapped's extreme interactivity brought waivers, safe words, and ethical questions that tested the Knott's ethos. By the end, you'll see how Knott's Scary Farm didn't just influence Universal and Six Flags—it gave seasonal events a blueprint for scale, artistry, and atmosphere. If this journey made you feel the fog rolling in, subscribe, share with a fellow haunt fan, and leave a review with your favorite Scary Farm memory or maze. We conclude spooky season (To be fair it's been a pretty damn spooky year) with a history of haunted house attractions. Holden takes us all the way back to when haunts started with Ancient Greece and through some Dark Ages, some not so Dark Ages, and the Great Depression when creepily yelling at people for fun started becoming the art form it is today! Then Jake talks about theme park horror attractions like Halloween Horror Nights and Knotts Scary farm. And finally Mike takes us home talking about the lunatic fringes (emphasis on the lunatics) that have tried to take haunted houses to the extreme and what happens when an art form loses its art and just turns into a guy named Russ torturing people. It's always a guy named Russ, isn't it?Want even more Nerd of Mouth? Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
We've been looking forward to experiencing Universal Orlando's brand-new Epic Universe: Dark Universe for well over a year, and finally we made it! Walking through the fog into Darkmoor Village felt like stepping inside a classic monster movie. We rode Curse of the Werewolf and were blown away by Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. There's a reason all the vloggers keep praising this attraction. We also share our thoughts on food, merchandise, characters, and atmosphere. Meeting the NEW Bride and Frankenstein in person was the perfect ending to an unforgettable visit. Next, we joined our friend Tati Perez for a wet and wild time at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando, where ten haunted mazes awaited us—and nonstop Florida rain. But hey - it's a story! We each share our Top 3 horror mazes. Five Nights at Freddy's topped our list with its creepy animatronics, while others impressed with their artistic environments. Between mazes, we wandered through eerie “Scare Zones” like The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane, where trick-or-treaters slowly turned into feral cats under glowing jack-o'-lanterns. What's not to love about spooky season!! There are 4 other “lands” or “portals' at Epic Universe, but to keep to our Halloween theme, we focued on Dark Universe in this episode. To hear more about our entire trip, including our Skywalking Meet-up, Ministry of Magic attraction, and How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Burke, watch our Livestream dated 10/13.
