Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! Showing up as you are in the present moment is enough. Your worth transcends any form of measurement. We are enough. In this episode, I share the past 6 months journey with transitioning back to living in the states, navigating panic disorder and anxiety and a newfound reassurance through the Human Design systems. I discovered I am a 3/5 reflector and also quite the introvert. We can handle what is in front of us. It helps to understand ourselves better so we can better advocate for our needs. You are not alone. IG: @thisistemporarypodcast & @lahartsellewww.thisistemporarypodcast.comIntro/Outro Song: "Waves" by Logan Bowden

Her counseling style is warm, interactive, collaborative and wholistic. Terry's approach combines traditional therapeutic modalities such as CBT with new age modifications (at the the client's discretion) to allow each client to reach the best version of themselves. Her love for mental health wellness paved the way for her new found passion of self care and mindfulness. Boldly venturing into the next chapter of her life, she is the living example of her one of her favorite quotes “Paint your world with your words”.... Join Terry on her journey as she leads you to your greatest strength.... yourself. In today's episode we will address the following questions: 1. What is mental health? 2. What causes mental health problems? 3. Is there a "cure"? 4. What can I do if I'm worried about my mental health? "The first step towards change, is awareness." Vanessa talked about being a young mom. People expected her life to stop, or for her to put her dreams and goals on hold because of having kids at a young age. But with the help of her husband and family, she made it through school, work and raising young children. She also talked about continually finding a balance between her career and raising her kids. She talked about how important it is to receive help when offered, and to ask for help when you need it. She talked about the importance of community, especially as a first time mom with a young baby. Vanessa talked about soaking in the joyful, bonding, good times with her kids to help her get through the hard times. She shared that long road trips with even young kids is not only doable, but fun! She peppered in words of advice throughout, including the idea to stash diapers and an extra outfit anywhere and everywhere just in case. I referenced The Badass Breastfeeding Podcast, specifically episode 82 when they interview Tracy Cassels, PhD. You can find that episode here. Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!! Mental health Awareness Month is a month that is meant to be celebrated. Let us celebrate that we are destigmatizing mental health issues and having open and honest conversations that will help everyone to know that they are not alone. Our first guest for Mental Health Awareness Month is Dr. Lauren Cook. Dr. Lauren is a phenomenal therapist that shares her expertise of how we can identify anxiety and depression and take better care of ourselves. Not being the scary person behind the desk, Lauren is open and honest about her own personal struggles with anxiety and  is committed to creating a safe environment for all of her clients. Lauren breaks down what the difference is between anxiety vs. stress, depression vs. just a down day, and when it is time for you or someone you know that is struggling to get help. Lauren educates the listeners on how diet and exercise affects our mental health and how getting our blood work can be very beneficial in identifying where we are lacking. Lauren offers great tips and tricks of how we can manage our anxiety attacks, resources we can turn to, and a deeper understanding of how anxiety affects everyone differently. Inspired by this conversation, Shannon shares with the listeners her journey this week and how she has chosen to go back to seeing a licensed professional consistently. Shannon discusses her experience with finding a therapist and why she is making the change now to the type of therapy she is receiving. Shannon also shares the exciting things to come for Mental health Awareness Month and how you can support.  Get To Know Our Guest! Dr. Lauren Cook is a therapist, keynote speaker, career coach, and author.
