Amid the shocks created by Trump's tariff policies, are we also seeing a kind of American economic self-harm – which threatens the long-standing dominance of the US dollar? Gavin Esler talks to Harvard Professor of Economics and former International Monetary Fund chief economist Kenneth Rogoff, whose new book Our Dollar, Your Problem looks at the rise of the US currency and shows why its future is far from assured. • This episode of This Is Not A Drill is supported by Incogni, the service that keeps your private information safe, protects you from identity theft and keeps your data from being sold. Creativity through the lens of a screen writer, Emmy nominated producer and podcaster"Creativity is just creating something that wasn't there."Adam “Tex” Davis graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 1993. A scant three years later he'd achieved great success -- as the night manager of Shaun's Bagels in Manhattan. But soon after, "Tex" sold his first screenplay, Sunburned, to Miramax and his second screenplay Just Friends to New Line Cinema. Just Friends went on to become a cult, rom-com classic starring Ryan Reynolds and Anna Farris. Other produced credits soon followed including Spring Break Lawyer, a made-for-cable comedy for MTV; and Gardener of Eden, a dark indie-comedy produced by Leonardo Dicaprio's Appian Way and directed by Entourage's Kevin Connolly. For nearly 20 years, Adam has written, rewritten, or punched-up over 25 feature film scripts for every major studio in Hollywood... and Bachelor Party 2. In addition, Adam has sold original comedy television series to the WB Network, CBS, and Comedy Central.Adam served as Co-Executive Producer and Head Writer for the Emmy nominated, genre-defining, global hit series Brain Games, for the National Geographic Channel. The success of Brain Games led Adam to co-form Atomic Entertainment, a full-service film & TV production company, for which Adam oversees creative content. Along with long-time friend, fellow NYU graduate, and collaborator Jerry Kolber, Atomic created the darkly-comic docu-series, The Internet Ruined My Life (SyFy) and Brainchild, a high-concept, kids' science/variety show, co-produced by Pharrell Williams for Netflix. Adam has also produced/ directed branded projects for Google, GE, IBM, Drone Racing League, Top Golf, Headspace & Conde Nast. With dozens of original projects airing or in the works, including What's Your Problem? and Making Magic -- Atomic continues its quest for global dominance. In his spare time, Adam continues to write original screenplays and create series ideas. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, daughter, dog, cat, and fish.https://www.linkedin.com/company/atomic-entertainment-group/https://www.instagram.com/atomicent/https://www.atomicentertainment.com/Send us a text

"Do not excessively covet swords and daggers made by famous masters. Even if you can own a sword or dagger worth 10,000 pieces (hiki, equivalent of 10 mon), it can be overcome by 100 spears each worth 100 pieces. Therefore, use the 10,000 pieces to procure 100 spears, and arm 100 men with them. You can in this manner defend yourself in time of war."- The Seventeen-Article Injunction of Asakura ToshikageIn this special episode, I had the privilege of speaking with a developer from the Ashigaru open source project, who joined us under the pseudonym Ashigaru Dev to discuss their work on Ashigaru. To protect their identity, they used a voice changer, highlighting the risks faced by privacy advocates in today's digital landscape. We discussed the motivations behind the creation of the Ashigaru, a project born from the need to continue the legacy of the Samourai Wallet after its development ceased. The Ashigaru team, composed of long-time users and developers familiar with the programming languages, initially made improvements for personal use before realising the broader community could benefit from their work. The conversation covered the enhancements made to the software, including updates to the post-mix spend features and the expanded Paynym ecosystem. We discussed the challenges of maintaining privacy in Bitcoin transactions without tools like Whirlpool and explored alternative methods such as peer-to-peer coin joins and atomic swaps. We also touched on the importance of building trust within the community, especially for non-technical users who rely on others to verify the safety and integrity of open-source projects. The Ashigaru team is committed to transparency and encourages user feedback to improve the application. In the wake of the Samourai project being dismantled by government decree, remember this: do not be overly attached to the singular, high-profile software solutions that once defined the success. Its value can be matched by tens of hundreds of developers, each armed with simple, robust, and widely accessible tools. Let's use the spirit, the knowledge, and the resources we have to forge a new initiative, one that embodies the strength of many rather than the complexity of one. In this way, we can continue to innovate, resist, and thrive, proving that multi-pronged resilience is greater than any single point of failure.LINKS:ASHIGARU - https://ashigaru.rsDONATE TO ASHIGARU - https://ashigaru.rs/donate/DOJO OPENSOURCE PROJECT - https://github.com/Dojo-Open-Source-ProjectSENTINEL - https://github.com/wanderingking072/sentinel-androidASHIGARU GITEA (TOR) - http://ashicodepbnpvslzsl2bz7l2pwrjvajgumgac423pp3y2deprbnzz7id.onionDONATE TO SAMOURAI - https://www.p2prights.org/donate.htmlFREESAMOURAI - https://freesamourai.comBTC SESSIONS DOJO VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aykJ4eP-VeoK3TAN DOJO VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_It4xEIwRAVALUE FOR VALUEThanks for listening you Ungovernable Misfits, we appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoy the shows. You can support this episode using your time, talent or treasure.TIME:- create fountain clips for the show- create a meetup- help boost the signal on social mediaTALENT:- create ungovernable misfit inspired art, animation or music- design or implement some software that can make the podcast better- use whatever talents you have to make a contribution to the show!TREASURE:- BOOST IT OR STREAM SATS on the Podcasting 2.0 apps @ https://podcastapps.com- DONATE via Paynym @ https://paynym.rs/+misfit- DONATE via Monero @ https://xmrchat.com/ugmf- BUY SOME CLOTHING @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/store/- BUY SOME ART!! @ https://ungovernablemisfits.com/art-gallery/CAKE WALLEThttps://cakewallet.comCake Wallet is an open-source, non-custodial wallet available on Android, iOS, macOS, and Linux.Features:- Built-in Exchange: Swap easily between Bitcoin and Monero.- User-Friendly: Simple interface for all users.Monero Users:- Batch Transactions: Send multiple payments at once.- Faster Syncing: Optimized syncing via specified restore heights- Proxy Support: Enhance privacy with proxy node options.Bitcoin Users:- Coin Control: Manage your transactions effectively.- Silent Payments: Static bitcoin addresses- Batch Transactions: Streamline your payment process.Thank you Cake Wallet for sponsoring the show!FOUNDATIONhttps://foundation.xyz/ungovernableFoundation builds Bitcoin-centric tools that empower you to reclaim your digital sovereignty. As a sovereign computing company, Foundation is the antithesis of today's tech conglomerates. We've brought on friend of the show and Well There's Your Problem host Justin Roczniak (@who_shot_jgr) to discuss Tesla's promise to deliver, and they're serious this time, self-driving cars. However, investment banks and analyst newsletters made up of people who won't be getting bonuses this year due to Twitter's stock nosedive are perhaps a little more sanguine about the prospect. We also discuss more Saudi Ozymandias megaprojects and envision a better world that would exist if people picked a different Gerard Butler movie from which to derive their entire personality. *T-SHIRT ALERT* Two new t-shirt designs—Avignon Popes and Banished to the Lagoon—are available for pre-order on our website. Hey! The Gruesomes twosome - Bobby Beaton & John Davis - join us once again and they wanna talk about Nederbeat this week! Both songs are by The Outsiders - but we have cover versions, too! First up is "That's Your Problem," the original, then the 1984 renditions by The Tell-Tale Hearts. Second song is "Touch", the weirdly tense folk-garage masterpiece, with versions by The Bristols & The Thanes. If you don't like ... that's YOUR problem!!!!

Hello, Hello, Hello! In our third (of three!) episodes on Queerness in Film this month, Dhruv invites Queer Academic & SRK and KJo Fanboy Cris Patrick (@limjaeseven) to discuss the one thing he wanted to talk about most, the thing that in many ways defines his Twitter Page - QUEER CODING, READING & CAMP SENSIBILITY IN BOLLYWOOD. We emphasize the words "Coding, Reading, and Camp Sensibility" most because our focus for this episode is on films that covertly (or, at least, less self-seriously overtly) position themselves as queer narratives about queer people. This includes all films written and directed (yes, even ghost-directed) by Karan Johar and Farah Khan. But for the sake of clarity, we focus most explicitly on Johar's work -- "Kal Ho Naa Ho" (2003) for Queer Coding, "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (2001) for Queer Reading, & "Student of the Year" (2012) vs. "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" (2023) for Camp Sensibility. Listen to the full episode to first hear us talk at length about embracing Bollywood Camp (or Campy Bollywood) and its inherent Queer Sensibility. (We use Susan Sontag's "Jottings" on Camp and Jack Babuscio's essay on Camp and Gay Sensibility to form our argument.) And then about particular scenes from each of these films that help define what it means to Queer Code & Queer Read (or Queer Bait)! TIME CODES Embracing Camp Bollywood - [00:00 - 16:21] What is "Camp" (ft.
