In Episode 234, I have the privilege of sitting down with James and Tucker from Project Refit, a remarkable nonprofit dedicated to uniting veterans and first responders. Their mission is to help individuals overcome personal challenges through the power of camaraderie and communication. Project Refit is committed to supporting these communities, recognizing the immense sacrifices they've already made, and providing them with the tools to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Throughout our conversation, one key theme that emerged was the importance of strengthening the individual as the foundation for building a strong community. Project Refit believes we combat mediocrity, complacency, and darkness by investing in one person at a time. As the 180-day transition period for EMIR REFIT drew to a close, I was joined by Aoife Storey and Michelle Kehoe of Fund Recs to reflect on how well (or otherwise!) the implementation of EMIR Refit has gone. We chatted about whether the anticipated challenges arose in practice and what unexpected speedbumps came along. We discussed where firms are at generally, in terms of complying with the new reporting and oversight requirements. We also cast the net a bit more broadly and considered similar changes to other EMIR regimes internationally. Enjoy!

In this episode of "All The Ships," we embark on a journey into the heart of the REFIT® community, discovering the incredible story behind the REFIT Studio + HQ, lovingly dubbed "The Mothership." The REFIT Studio + HQ is not just a building; it's a sanctuary where REFIT enthusiasts come to share in the joy and love of their community. Embedded in every corner, the Mothership has held moments of triumph, laughter, tears, grief, and unwavering support - all of the makings of community. Much like the REFIT fitness revolution, the tale of the REFIT Studio + HQ is one of growth and determination. Friends and REFIT® Founders Angela, Catherine, and Emily talk about their journey through DIY renovation and the related and unrelated stress and overwhelm that occurred as they transitioned from a rented studio and a converted apartment-office to the purchase and construction of a permanent home in downtown Waco, Texas. But this isn't just a story of construction; it's a story of dreams brought to life. It's a testament to the dedication poured into creating a space that fosters acceptance and belonging. From big design choices to the tiniest restroom details, each element of their space is infused with love and intention. Whether you've ever built or renovated a home or simply appreciate spaces that foster acceptance and belonging, this episode will resonate with you. Listen to find out: --Who fiercely dug in her heels about buying the new building --Who faced moments of doubt and contemplated quitting—not just once, but twice --Whose magnetic presence is cultivating a substantial fanbase in Canada This episode is dedicated to our shining light, Kathy. #shiningforkathy

You think buying a superyacht costs a pretty penny? It turns out building a superyacht is only the start. Keeping it beautiful is a whole different story. Now that John has made all the most important decisions for his yacht – an expedition-type, a creative workshop, a beach club, a Command Centre, an endless pool and a submarine – he turns his attention to safety and upkeep. The seemingly trivial things like software updates, insurance and a reliable real-time sat-navigation system. Thinking about his life at sea, he asks questions like: What if he can't return to Feadship's Dutch yards for service? How does he keep his yacht cutting-edge and relevant with the newest technologies and sustainable propulsion systems? What if he needs a spare part while sailing in the middle of the ocean? In this episode, John sits down with Pier Posthuma de Boer, Feadship's Director of Refit & Services, to learn about the ABCs of protecting and maintaining superyachts after they've been built. He also returns to Makkum to visit Mira and its incredible story of being lost and then found. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
