**This episode first aired in October 2019** Content warnings: violence, rape, torture We are re-posting our episode on A CLOCKWORK ORANGE in preparation for the 2021 airing of an episode of FEAR + LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS by Hunter S. Thompson. Books of kindred spirit, FEAR + LOATHING was published roughly a decade after CLOCKWORK ORANGE appeared in 1962. FROM THE ORIGINAL POST: The amazing Lucé Tomlin-Brenner (@LTBComedy) got host Emily Edwards (@MsEmilyEdwards) to read a book she's dreaded her entire life: A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. SUMMARY Alex is a teenage ne'er-do-well living at some point in the not-defined future of London. He and his marauding band of goons commit various crimes (murder, rape) until Alex is caught and sent through a re-education camp. His moral salvation depends on if you read the book or watch the movie.

We discuss reckoning with Roman Polanski's legacy of artistry and misogyny as feminist survivors, the occult boom of the late 1960s, why Mia Farrow upsets me, Charles Manson, and so much more. In the last episode, we discovered the first images of skeletons as art were spawned from the horrors of The Black Plague - most notably the Danse Macabre and the iconic Grim Reaper. In this episode, we meditate on the endurance of this medieval imagery through a ghastly tale by the master of horror himself, Stephen King. The Reaper's Image was first printed in Startling Mystery Stories in 1969 and collected in Skeleton Crew in 1985. This episode is performed by Lucé Tomlin-Brenner. A preview of a spooky new podcast from Lucé Tomlin-Brenner
Saluton! Esta me, Tyson Saner. And it seems like only a couple of weeks ago I was putting the finishing touches on Episode 200 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. and sending it off to executive producer Marc Hershon to be posted as the final episode before our much-ballyhooed hiatus. Well, if you're listening to this…it means the hiatus is over. If you listened to Episode 201, hosted by my now sorta social distancing co-host Marc Hershon, then you already knew that. If you haven't listened to Episode 201, yet, you still can. It's a shorter episode than Succotash is, traditionally, so it won't take very long. And it explains why it is shorter, and why we are back, and really has some great content that should help you, the listener, get into the swing of things for this new phase of the soundcast formerly known as Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, now known as Succotash Shut-In. Coming to you weekly with alternating hosts Marc Hershon and yours truly, the afore-mentioned Tyson Saner. I've got clips from Second Run Movie Pod, You Need To See This, and Shenk. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants new Breakaway Trousers, and by Trumpoetry.com. I know you're anxious to experience your now weekly dose of soundcast clips from the comedy world as it deals with the quarantine that everybody who doesn't want to die from COVID-19 is adhering to for the foreseeable future. So without further ado, it's clip time. CLIPS Second Run Movie PodFeaturing Kory Epps and Adam Shumaker, on the Second Run Movie Pod the two hosts talk about films they've seen and whether or not they'd give them a second look. At least I believe that's what the show's about. In this epi, Kory and Adam gotta go fast as they talk about Sonic the Hedgehog and Birds of Prey. You can find Kory Epps at OnlyFans.com/KoryEpps. Those are the deets provided on the blog. And there's a little note that says that was the last episode before the quarantine lockdown before the coronavirus and they hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. We're trying, Kory! You Need To See ThisWith Lucé and Cozi, the description of the show on their homesite says "Join hosts Lucé Tomlin-Brenner and Cozi Orlen every week as they argue for one film you absolutely need to watch. They'll cover everything from lesser known arthouse indies to 'How did you miss this?' blockbusters." Each episode at least one of the hosts has seen and loved thge film and at least one has missed it. Then, with no spoilers, they'll convince they'll convince you to spend your precious time watching it. That's a great idea. The clip I've got for you is from an episode posted on April 20, 2020. The guest? None other than the one of the co-hosts on The Nooner Podcast on Kevin Smith's Smodcast Network, Cassandra Cardenas. (She's also been, by the way, a guest of Anti Social Show, another soundcast that I co-host, actually, with Hunter Block who was a guest of Succotash in our previous season, check that out sometime.) Anyway, Cassandra and Cozy talk to Lucy about the incredibly fun British comedy Spice World from 1997. If you'd like to support this soundcast, you can click over to Anchor.fm/YouNeedToSeeThis/support. ShenkComedian Sara Wineshenk interviews comedians, musicians and artists living in Los Angeles. Topics include fashion, cannabis and comedy. The clip is from the episode that posted April 29 2020. called "Weather Women, Lava Lamps, and Dream Cars", in which live, from quarantine, Sara sits down to answer some questions, specifically about the topics mentioned in the title AND her favorite type of cat. Not only can you find Shenk on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and Spotify, but you can email all fashion/guest-related questions to shenkpod@gmail.com. WRAP-UP And there it is. Episode 204, the second of Season 4 of Succotash Shut-In, The Soundcast Stimulus Package. Remember, if you go to SuccotashShow.com you can find all the social media and website info that will help you find these shows with very little effort on your part. Of course, our archive of past episodes is there to just a few simple keystrokes and mouse clicks or taps on a mobile device brings you more of us and those we feature on this program. Join co-ghosts Clark Canez and Jen Curcio with special guest, comedian and storyteller Lucé Tomlin Brenner on a tour of Boyle Heights. We go to seven places of historical and paranormal significance and learn about the cultures that make up the community. The places we explored include: 1. The Linda Vista Hospital - America's most haunted hospital because the working class Latinx patients were given such poor care that many of them died. Botched surgeries that under normal circumstances should be easy to recover from are enough to haunt anyone. 2. Hollenbeck Park - A gorgeous park with a pond, swans, a beautiful bridge and the specter of a woman dressed in black. 3. The Sanatorium and Orphans Home - Sometimes it's not only spirits that leave their trace on a building. That's right, radium was taken by the spoonful and administered by a madman doctor in this former health spa. 4. Breed Street Elementary - School can be scary enough; lunch time cliques, popularity contests, but add the fact that your school was built on top of a graveyard and oh boy, good luck! 5. The Shrere Synagogue - We stopped here to learn about Jewish mourning rituals and others surrounding death. 6. Japanese Hospital - Japanese-Americans had to fight the Supreme Court to open this institution in 1927 and continued to have to fight for it through the years of the Japanese internment in America. 7. The Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged - At a first glance, this looked like an odd decor choice in the parking lot of a Food4Less. But of course, we dug deeper on the tour to find that it used to be a charity home for local senior citizens who would have been destitute otherwise. A big thank you to the Shmuel Gonzales of the Boyle Heights History Tours for giving us the best tour we have ever taken. We cannot recommend doing this enough. Please support this great organization at bhhistorytours.com and go on a tour. As always, thank you for listening and have a spoOoOoky weekend! Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Spooky season is finally upon us! Kelly and Jon had on horror movie fanatic/It-expert (she even has her own horror-comedy short called Messed Up check it out) Lucé Tomlin-Brenner! The movie is over 2 and a half hours so the pod is a little on the long side but it is talk-packed (get it? instead of action-packed? because it's a pod, get it? get it?). Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For
Happy Halloween! This is a favorite holiday for many people and did you know it’s been around for over 2,000 years?! It began as an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The night before All Saint’s Day was believed when spirits could walk among us and All Hallow’s Eve was a tradition to honor those who have past so they wouldn’t get upset and take your soul! The wonderful Lucé Tomlin-Brenner is back and schools Cassi on the history of Halloween! Lucé also blows Cassi’s mind with stories of how people in Ohio celebrate Halloween verses the suburbs of San Diego. Real pumpkins patches, apple picking, apple cider slushes, poetry reading and more! What?! There’s so much to talk about and this could easily have been a 6 hour show but we give you this hits and will leave you appreciating this spooky holiday. Enjoy! Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For
Today it’s our dumbest episode yet! Our guest is Lucé Tomlin-Brenner (producer for the Virgil’s “Radio Picture Show”, the Upright Citizens Brigade’s “Sun Valley” and Los Angeles improviser- Garbáge and Parker Posey). Lucé and Cassi try real hard to talk about quantum physics. You may learn something? But you’ll most likely laugh and shake your head at how dumb these two are. Lucé and Cassi start off by trying to go over a basic definition of quantum physics, then they take a look at the math. Yikes! Yep, all aboard the Dumb Train Express! Lucé and Cassi try not to give up too easy. Instead they try to understand quantum physics more by talking about thought experiments and interesting theories like Schrondinger’s Cat, the Spooky Effect, black holes and how the sun would still be as hot if it was made out of bananas. It’s some head-scratching fun stuff! They also talk about UFOs, Mrs. Doubtfire, the Simpsons and how we should all just be cool at parties. Enjoy! Lucé and Hannah discuss quite a bit of good news, lots of animal corners, and how to calmly evacuate from a fire. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
