On todays episode we begin our coverage of the Officio Assassinorum. We start with a quick delve into the Schola Progenium, and get out of that as quickly as possible. We then talk about the history of the Assassins on Terra from before the Unification Wars up to the start of the Great Crusade. Then we talk a lot about the value the Assassin brought to the Imperium during the Great Crusade and then into the Horus Heresy. We then finish off with the Assassins between M32 and M41 and the “learning” the imperium had to go through about their powers and capabilities.Support the show

Your Bristol Life is a new series of five podcasts shining a light on underrepresented aspects of Bristol's history. This BCfm series was made with the Bristol Cable, Bristol History Podcast and In The Dark. *** Skate or Cry by Jazlyn Pinckney *** In this audio documentary, five women taking space in Bristol's skateboarding scene speak to Jazlyn Pinckney. Some have just picked up a board for the first time, others have been skating for decades, but all talk about the feeling skating gives them, the sense of community and the biggest battles they face breaking down barriers of the male skater stereotype. What does it feel like on the board? Why do they get back on when you fall off? And which corners of Bristol city are the smoothest, safest or down right gnarliest to skate? We hear the voice of Vivienne Mcginnis, Bella Warley, Jasmine Creusson, Isadora Vlachou and Casey Jane. Recorded in the field at Campus Skatepark and Trenchard Street Carpark, and with special mention to Maverick's Warmley Skatepark, M32, Dean Lean, and Bristol's Cenotaph skate spots. In episode 50 of the Behind the Headlines podcast, Bristol24/7 Deputy Editor Ellie Pipe explores the results of this week's mayoral referendum, hearing from mayor Marvin Rees and from Mary Page, organiser of It's Our City Bristol, who campaigned for the mayoral system to be scrapped. Also on this week's episode is Mario Saeed, a professional fighter and martial arts coach, who has transformed a building by the M32 into an academy that is changing young lives. And Paul Hassan from ACH talks about a new Sanctuary to Opportunity report, homes for Ukraine programme and more.
Purdown is a large green hilly area on the edge of Bristol and is one of the highest points of the city. It's marked out by two buildings: the telecom tower and the large yellow dower house - a familiar sight to anyone who regularly drives along the nearby M32. In this programme Helen Mark explores the area, finding out about its significance in World War II, and meeting the goats which are now helping to preserve the remains of the gun placements put there to protect the city from bombing raids. She also learns about the history of Stoke Park estate, and goes on a hunt for hidden artwork in the woods. Produced by Emma Campbell

Most big spiral galaxies look calm and well ordered. Yet their histories are often just the opposite. The galaxies were built through a series of collisions, mergers, and close calls. An example is M31, the Andromeda Galaxy. It’s our closest big galactic neighbor, at a distance of two-and-a-half million light-years. It’s high in the east in early evening, and looks like a small, faint, hazy patch of light. Andromeda is a galactic giant. Its disk spans more than 200,000 light-years, and it contains hundreds of billions of stars. But it wasn’t born that way. The original galaxy formed more than 10 billion years ago, from the merger of several smaller building blocks. There’s evidence that a few billion years later, it slammed into another large galaxy. That triggered an intense bout of star formation, giving birth to as many as a tenth of Andromeda’s present-day stars. Since then, Andromeda has gobbled up several smaller galaxies. It’s also had encounters with a couple of nearby surviving galaxies, M32 and M33. M32 may have punched through Andromeda’s disk, while M33 may have sideswiped it. The encounters gave birth to more stars, pulled out ribbons of stars that reach far into space, and warped Andromeda’s rim. Andromeda’s biggest galactic encounter is yet to come. In a few billion years, it will merge with our own galaxy, the Milky Way — giving birth to one of the most impressive galaxies in the universe. Sam Abernathy is the FOH engineer for Fozzy but has also worked with Stuck Mojo, and Like A Storm as well as several popular Atlanta-based clubs (The Masquerade, etc). Listen in as Sam talks about his earlier days - playing guitar and mixing on a Presonus board before finding his way into the Fozzy camp. We talk in-depth about the M32 and try to learn how he achieves such an amazing sound from a prosumer desk. Sam is one of the industry's best FOH engineers - he creates a powerful and dynamic mix without beating-up the listener. As Sam puts it, he like's to "mix like it's a big 'ole hug." Thanks Sam!

My first trip to The NAMM Show was, in a word, overwhelming! There was a lot to see and, I don't think I could've visited every booth I wanted to if my life depended on it. Still, it was a very exciting time for me to witness the hustle and bustle of this iconic show. NAMM is an annual event, described as “The World's largest trade-only event for the music products, pro audio, and event tech industry.” ⚠️ Order (or pre-order) the stuff you hear in today's podcast: https://passionatedj.com/hookup/namm NAMM stands for the “National Association of Music Merchants”, and was founded in 1901. It's a business show which caters to dealers and distributors, with the main draw being product exhibits where manufacturers show off their latest in music products and technology. Of course, only a very small percentage of the NAMM displays are DJ-related, but it was still pretty difficult to cover all the bases. Ultimately, I decided to focus on a few key items that I thought would be most important to our Passionate DJ audience, and cover those well (going deep rather than wide). So, I got on a plane from Ohio, where there was snow and ice on the ground, flew across the entire country… over the snow-covered plains and beautiful Rocky Mountains, and many hours later I was enjoying the sunny low-70s weather of the west coast... in January. And it was glorious. Anaheim was beautiful and the convention center is located almost on top of Disney Land. The walk to-and-from the show was a sea of convention badges and mouse ears. Inside the convention center, I barely knew what to do. You can go in any direction, up any escalator, and there will be another part of NAMM there just waiting to be explored. Here's what we will mostly focus on today: • Denon Prime 4 • Akai Force • Rane Twelve & Seventy-Two • Reloop Elite • Technics SL-1200mk7 vs. RP8000mk2 • Phase DVS • Traktor DJ 2 Gemini also showed off their all-in-one unit called the SDJ-4000. It seemed to have decent build quality, uses Gemini's own software, and is essentially a cheaper alternative to the Prime 4 or the Pioneer XDJ-RR. Speaking of Pioneer, while their entire DJ lineup was well represented at the show… they didn't really have anything new on display. Besides all the new Traktor news, Native Instruments also released a new three-octave keyboard called the M32, which is compatible with their Komplete Kontrol plugin and contains transport controls, touchstrips, and so on to control your studio software. NI also released the Audio 1 and Audio 2 sound cards, for very basic connections for those needing inputs on stage. ⚠️ Order (or pre-order) the stuff you hear in today's podcast: https://passionatedj.com/hookup/namm
Episodio 38. A partes iguales. Cúmulo globular a 110.000 años-luz.

Shipping Podcast - listen to the maritime professionals in the world of shipping
Håkan Svensson is a shipping entrepreneur. He grew up in the shipping industry as his father worked for Kamewa and moved to Singapore with his family when Håkan was a young boy. Shipping propellers has been dominating Håkans life at least for the last 14 years, when he and his father bought the bankrupt's estate of Bergs Propulsion and developed it into a thriving business with a 25 % market share. Håkan shares his view on what it means to be a business owner, an innovator and a manager of a shipping supply company on the global arena. He explains the huge consolidation going on among the maritime engine manufacturers, what it means for the shipping industry to be a part of the connected society and how that will attract young people to the industry. Håkan describes the 2008 financial crisis as "walking the plank and not knowing how far you will fall at the end of it, 2 meters or 2 kilometres", and how his father was the anchor with courage and patience to wait for the upturn. Håkans' call to the entire shipping industry is to be cooler! He practice what he preaches and is now totally into sailing, where he is promoting his carbon fibre factory through his company’s' acquisition of the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) and the manufacturing of the M32 racing catamaran and the organisation of the M32 Series. If you like the episode with Håkan Svensson, please give us a review on iTunes; that would really be helpful on our way to the top-ten-list with the Shipping Podcast.
