In this transformative episode of the Published and Paid®️ Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Kim Germany, a brilliant educational leader with nearly 30 years of experience who's about to launch her book “Achieve Now: 4 Strategies to Grow Your Instructional Leadership Skills and Impact Student Outcomes.” As an educational thought leader who has consistently delivered results across multiple districts, Dr. Kim shares her powerful journey from behind-the-scenes educator to front-and-center authority figure. What makes this conversation especially valuable is witnessing her transformation from someone hesitant to claim her expertise to a confident thought leader securing keynote speaking engagements before her book is even published. The pivotal moment came when Dr. Kim attended our live event. She had been working on a personal transformation book but realized she was sitting on over a million dollars worth of instructional leadership content in her Google Drive. This complete pivot allowed her to quickly outline her expertise into a structured framework that's already opening doors of opportunity. Though the transition wasn't without its challenges including losing some close friendships along the way, Dy. Kim's conviction in her expertise has propelled her forward. Key Takeaways: Leverage your true expertise: Dr. Kim's journey reminds us to focus on the knowledge people already come to you for rather than creating content in areas where you lack experience. As she puts it, "Why are you writing about something you don't have experience with when you are sitting on your Google drive with over a million dollars worth of content?" Confidence sells: Your conviction in your work and expertise is what will attract opportunities. As Dr. Kim says, "I know that book is good. I know every chapter is good, and you're going to learn something from it." This confidence has already secured her keynote speaking engagements before her book is even published. Invest in yourself first: Women especially tend to hustle for everyone else at their own expense. Dr. Kim challenges us to examine our closets and bank statements to see where we're really investing. "We'll hustle for our kids. We'll hustle for the church. We'll hustle for our men. But when it comes to ourselves, it's always an afterthought." Strategic planning saves time: Being clear about where you're going before you start writing saves countless hours of revision. Dr. Kim admits, "Had I really spent more time with the strategic outline I would have, I wouldn't have had to go back with all of the multiple revisions." Make sacrifices for your purpose: Dr. Kim shared how she's been on a spending fast for a year to invest in her business. "You have to put your money and your thinking where your PURPOSE is, not where your PURSE is." Quotes "Everywhere I've gone and left, people still call me. They're like, 'Hey, walk me through this. Help me think this through.' It got to be so many people calling that I'm like, let me just package this and put this in a book. So wherever I am, you don't have to be with me to learn from me." "This is the first time in all of my life that I am hustling for ME. I am my own priority, because at the end of the day, there are new districts and new leaders that need the guidance that I can give them." "Let me see your closet. Show me your closet, and then I'm gonna tell you about your finances. Show me the last 6 weeks of your debit card swipes, and we're going to talk about where your money is going. It's never going to be a perfect time. That's why it's called OPPORTUNITY." "Do you want transformation, or do you want another Louis? Do you want transformation, or do you want a larger YSL? What difference does it make? And half the time you don't even use the stuff that we have because we are ashamed that we even have it." "The book writing process has made me a more concise communicator. I'm very clear about leadership principles and practices, because it's the same. Leadership is leadership. Everywhere you go, it is the same thing." In this episode of the Published and Paid®️ Podcast, I'm getting transparent about leadership and team management. Two of my team members resigned on the same day, and while that might sound stressful, it was actually a relief. This experience forced me to reflect on my leadership, hiring practices, and what it truly means to build a business with the right people. 00:05:12 - The day two team members resigned 00:06:07 - Why every coach should have a coach 00:17:05 - The contractor vs. employee mindset 00:23:31 - The importance of making hard decisions 00:24:52 - How hiring mistakes impact your business 00:36:03 - Final thoughts & leadership insights If you've ever struggled with building a strong team, hiring the right people, or making tough leadership calls, this episode is for you. Ready to level up your leadership and build a business that thrives? Tune in now! Key Takeaways: Contractors vs. Employees: Contractors work for themselves and prioritize flexibility. Employees, on the other hand, are invested in your mission and goals. Mindset Over Skillset: Skills can be taught, but mindset, attitude, and initiative are what truly make a great team member. Don't Delay Hard Decisions: The longer you wait to make tough calls, the more stress, time, and money you waste. Loyalty Must Be Reciprocal: If you're loyal to a team member, they should be equally invested in your business—not just in their paycheck. Know What You Need: Before hiring, be clear on whether you need a doer (contractor) or a thinker (strategist or employee). Quotes “Contractors will always choose themselves first. Employees choose the mission.” “Skills can be taught. Mindset and initiative? That's something you either have or you don't.” “The longer you delay a hard decision, the more it costs you—financially and emotionally.” “Hiring the wrong person can slow you down, but hiring the right person can accelerate your success.” “If someone isn't fully invested, they will eventually check out—it's just a matter of time.” Apply for the Published and Paid Podcast Hotseat: https://forms.clickup.com/8422578/f/8115j-18814/SJ27IQ6ZT01XCM2IBN Connect with Jasmine: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thejasminewomack Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/authorjasminewomack YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thejasminewomack Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thejasminewomack Website: https://www.jasminewomack.com Work with Me: Join the Monetize Your Book Challenge: https://www.jasminewomack.com/monetize Apply to the 7 Figure BestSeller Bootcamp: https://www.jasminewomack.com/7fbs (Next Cohort begins April 14, 2025) Apply to the Published and Paid Mastermind: https://www.jasminewomack.com/mastermindapplication

Episode 26: How Hiring a Writing Consultant Can Help You, Even If You Are a Strong Writer In this episode of the Published and Paid® Podcast, I'm diving deep into the differences between a writing coach and a writing consultant, and explaining why even strong writers, like you, might still need help from a consultant. You'll hear how my own journey as a language arts teacher and confident writer taught me that being good at writing doesn't necessarily mean you'll succeed at marketing or monetizing your book. Here's what I cover in this episode: The key differences between a writing coach and a writing consultant. Why strong, skilled writers still need outside help to market and sell their books. How to overcome the mindset blocks that often stop professionals from seeking the consulting support they need. Episode 24: Six Mistakes Leaders Make When Writing a Book That Costs Them Millions in Revenue In this episode of the Published and Paid Podcast, Jasmine Womack breaks down the six major mistakes that leaders make when writing books, mistakes that can cost them millions in potential revenue. Whether you're an aspiring author or already have a published book, Jasmine emphasizes the importance of having a strategic plan, a marketing and promotional campaign, clear messaging, proper monetization, and visibility. She also explains how to extend offers beyond the book to leverage it as a tool for larger opportunities. Key Topics: Lack of Planning: Most leaders don't plan how they will use their book for business growth, which can lead to missed opportunities. No Marketing Campaign: Writing a book is just the beginning. Without a solid marketing plan, it will struggle to gain traction. Misaligned Messaging: Misunderstanding the target audience can make your book ineffective. Clear messaging is crucial for both the book and the business. Positioning for Monetization: Books must provide solutions and be positioned for financial growth, not just as personal projects. Visibility: Leaders often fail to get visible with their books. A personal brand is essential to reach millions. Not Extending Offers Beyond the Book: The book should serve as a gateway to more lucrative offers such as speaking engagements or coaching Quotes: “A book without a marketing plan is like having a car without gas—you're not going anywhere.” “The real money isn't in the book itself; it's in the offers you extend beyond it.” Resources and Links: BOOK: Purchase a copy of Published and Paid: Write, Self Publish, and Launch Your Nonfiction Book in 90 Days or Less > https://a.co/d/95ckzMx LIVE EVENT: Published and Paid LIVE: October 11-12, 2024, Atlanta, GA: Virtual tickets will close on October 10! www.publishedandpaidlive.com COMMUNITY: Published and Paid: The Community (Facebook Group) www.facebook.com/groups/publishedandpaidfree Jasmine Womack, M.Ed, EdS LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/thejasminewomack IG: instagram.com/thejasminewomack FB: facebook.com/authorjasminewomack Youtube: youtube.com/thejasminewomack Subscribe: Don't forget to subscribe, share, and leave a comment to help us reach more listeners like you!

Welcome back to the Published & Paid Podcast, Episode 6: How to Approach Bulk Book Orders in Your BusinessI'm your host, Jasmine Womack, and today we're diving deep into a strategy that can exponentially increase your impact and income: bulk book orders. After shedding light on the complexities of referrals in our last episode, we're shifting gears to explore a lucrative opportunity especially relevant for consultants, speakers, and trainers. Why Bulk Orders? Bulk orders are the fast lane to income growth for authors. While selling books one at a time is rewarding, selling in bulk can skyrocket your revenue and extend your reach far beyond individual sales. Strategies for Success: Target the Right Audience: This episode zeroes in on those of you who have the type of book that can be sold in bulk. Think big—corporate clients, educational institutions, and large groups are your targets. Connect and Network: Engage with influencers and leaders who have access to groups. This includes educators, book club leaders, speakers, and podcast hosts. Your goal is to connect with those who can introduce your book to a wider audience. Offer Creative Packages: Don't just sell your book; bundle it with your speaking or consulting services. Propose your book as a value-add for workshops and presentations. Leverage Communities: Build relationships with people who lead communities, whether they're running coaching programs, membership sites, or organizing large events. Pitch them the idea of buying your book in bulk for their members or attendees. The Magic Number: Imagine connecting with 40 people who each commit to buying 10 copies of your book. That's 400 books sold, translating to $10,000 if sold at $25 each—a significant boost by any measure. Time to Shift Your Mindset: It's time to move beyond the one-on-one sales approach. Larger quantities not only mean more income but also a greater impact. This episode is designed to help you rethink your strategy and embrace the potential of bulk book sales. Take Action Now! This week, I'm sharing a podcast that I LOVE and had the pleasure of being a guest on: The Get Paid Podcast with Claire Pelletreau. Claire has a way of asking all of the questions we want to know but are usually afraid to ask: How much money do you make? What do you spend it on? How did you get here (literally step by step)? If you want to hear my entire journey and get the juicy details of every step, make sure to check out this episode.
As an Indie Podcaster, I regularly take a risk on paid advertising to grow this podcast, triggering a race-against-the-clock to beat the podcasting giants, uncover hidden opportunities and discover the best way to get in front of my ideal listeners. I think you should do the same. I've been experimenting with paid podcast advertising for the last 4 months, and my podcast downloads have grown by 65%. That's actually why I recorded this episode. I want to see you get similar growth. My goal with this is to show you how to increase the return on all the hard work you put into your podcast by showing you how to implement a paid podcast advertising strategy. Implementing a paid ad's strategy is an essential addition to your podcast's overall marketing plan. At least in my opinion. I get it, not everyone has the financial resources to invest in their podcast. I also understand that using a paid marketing strategy might be frowned upon in the industry. Fortunately, there are some inexpensive advertising options that I'm confident will grow your listenership. I cover these in this episode. Oh, and don't worry about being labeled a “sell out” for putting some money into advertising your podcast. It's called marketing! If you want to grow your listenership then why not be open to seeing fast returns? Don't get me wrong, organic growth is best and it will reap dividends for you in the long run. I'm not against that. You definitely need to be pushing your podcast hard on social media, in your newsletter, blogs, and in all other ancillary content related to your podcast. But if you drop a few dollars into paid podcast advertising to pump up those efforts, you'll have a better chance of cutting through the noise and getting your show in front of your ideal listener. As my buddy Adam Schaeuble of Podcasting Business School says, “You've got to love your podcast like a hobby, but treat it like a business”. But hey, if you're just having fun, I get that too! Just know this episode probably isn't for you. In this episode, you will learn the following: How to use podcast advertising to grow your podcast and get in front of an ideal audience. The pros and cons of Buzzsprout Ads, Overcast FM, Podcast Addict, Pocket Cast and PodNews for paid podcast advertising. The impact of paid podcast advertising on downloads and subscribers. We all know podcasting blew up in the last 5-10 years. Huge shows like "Call Her Daddy" penned a $60M deal with Spotify (yes, that's an M for million), "Dirty John" turned into a TV show, and "Serial" is still a cult-fan favorite years later - we're still invested into what happened with Adnan's case. But what REALLY goes on behind the scenes? Why does it feel like such a mystical world sometimes? Why do some shows take off, and others don't? How do you even get guests - do you have to pay them if they're "bigger" than you? In this episode, Chelsea shares her years of expertise in the digital media space and podcasting world to uncover some of the biggest question marks, like: How to land guests, even with a small audience How to pitch yourself as a guest, one of the biggest drivers of online visibility All the ways podcasters make money, from brand sponsors to bonus content How podcast networks really work, and the hard truths about joining one How TF Alex Cooper of “Call Her Daddy” landed a $60M deal with Spotify This is just Part 1.
