Since the beginning of the podcast, the gang has been dreading the infamous, Disney Channel banned, Prom night episode. And here we are. Or are we? Danielle, Rider & Will rewatch the ACTUAL episode and find themselves with a fresh new perspective, in love with a certain interaction between Cory and a scene-stealing guest star. And Rider shares some of the behind the scenes drama about *how* to handle the complex issue of ‘90s sex and reveals his attempts to change the script. Plus, they analyze how Cory, a self confessed invisible dork, somehow won Prom King, on a brand new, formally dressed, Pod Meets World.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On this week's episode, before bombastic side-eye there was Bombastic Bob with the New Midnight Express! And for some reason there's a gorilla "hanging" around looking to get his gorilla butt kicked. And in Tree Hill the drama between Brooke and Peyton is getting even more intense! Hopefully they had some good make-up tricks in 2006 because someone has a black eye for prom night! Follow @treehillwf.podcast on social media, and leave us a review!Send us a text
In this week's episode, we highlight two stories from this year's Proton Prom, Story Collider's annual fundraiser and celebration of science storytelling. Part 1: Pamela Toh is dead set on being the “bad kid” at school. Part 2: On a family vacation to Disney, Matthew Dicks becomes more and more frustrated by his daughter's strange behavior. Pamela Toh is an aspiring writer and graduate student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where she conducts research on how the brain and body coordinate to elicit the symptoms of PTSD. Originally from Singapore, Pamela moved to NYC after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (because the proximity to sun and surf was simply too much to bear). When not hunched over a lab bench, Pamela can be found coveting the latest LEGO sets, or in a yoga studio trying to correct her bad posture. Matthew Dicks is the internationally bestselling author of six novels and three nonfiction titles, including Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, Change Your Life Through the Art of Storytelling, and Stories Sell: Storyworthy Strategies to Grow Your Business and Brand. His novels have been translated into more than 25 languages worldwide. When not hunched over a computer screen, he fills his days as an elementary school teacher, storyteller, comedian, blogger, wedding DJ, minister, and communications consultant. He's been teaching for 25 years and is a former West Hartford Teacher of the Year and a Connecticut Teacher of the Year finalist. Matthew is a record 60-time Moth StorySLAM champion and 9-time GrandSLAM champion whose stories have been featured on their nationally syndicated Moth Radio Hour. Matthew is the founder of Speak Up, a Hartford-based storytelling organization that produces shows throughout New England. He teaches storytelling and public speaking worldwide to individuals, corporations, school districts, hospitals, universities, and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis
I'm back from the UK and am eager to bring more great guests for you. First, though, I want to thank all of you who reached out to me while I was away. Your concern for my welfare was more than touching. I'm forever grateful to my listeners. Today, our main guest is Casey Huffman, AKA Vegas. Casey hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2023, and he shares his story with an infectious enthusiasm which, he'll concede, may not have been there when he set out on his adventure. A solo hiker, and somewhat introverted, he even became the Prom King of the Class of 2023! Casey has a Youtube channel, though he tells me that it isn't all about hiking, so pick your way through it. https://youtube.com/@vegasthepiedpiper?si=izi8BQ2K8TY7nUdv Also today, our Mighty Blue Class of 2024 starts catching up with hikers already into the second half of their hike. Today, it's Bobby Campbell, or Sloggy, who shares the first half of his own thru-hike with us. We need a few more members of the Mighty Blue Class of 2024, so reach out to me at steve@hikingradionetwork.com if you have a candidate for me to track down. Finally today, I'm starting a new book! Happy Hiking, by my friend, Emily Leonard is–of course–written from a woman's POV and a woman's voice. I hope you enjoy listening to it. If you'd like to buy the book, you can find it on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Hiking-Falling-Appalachian-Trail/dp/1736156802 , or on Emily's website, at https://www.emilysescapades.com/product-page/happy-hiking I used my recent hike in the UK on the South West Coast Path to help raise money for my absolute favorite charity, Parenting Matters, on whose board I've been privileged to serve for over a decade. You can learn more about the hike and the organization–and donate–by visiting https://parentingmattersfl.org/eventer/hike-with-steve-empowering-parents-one-step-at-a-time/edate/2024-04-15/. I hope you want to support this critical mission. Don't forget. Check it out. I often ask listeners for ideas on who to interview, and I'm sure several of you say, “I could do that. I've got an awesome story to tell.” You're the person we need to hear from. In S4Ep8 of the PRP, Adam symposiums with seasoned marathoner, courageous LGBTQ+ pioneer, Brooks Running Collective constituent and overall good vibes ambassador Michael Stickel-Reed who has been preparing for the Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday May 5th, 2024. Tyler Stickel-Reed, running free spirit, established creative dance director, and Michael's better half joins the show to offer his take on running for wellness, pizza sauce and the wonderful world of Disney. This conversation gets vulnerable from the jump as the PRP listenership is regaled with the tales, trials and tribulations that both Michael and Tyler have been forced to traverse when attempting to live their authentic truth. Navigating family, friends and relationships in general has always come with the caveat of managing other people's thoughts, feelings and opinions about their sexuality. The boys offer some key insight into both the mechanics of longer lasting relationships that have been lost as well as day-to-day interactions that are accompanied by anxiety of acceptance and safety. They then help educate the PRP listenership on what it means to be an ally and why even the smallest signs of support can mean so much. The conversation then migrates to the incredible chronicles of the role that running has played in the lifespan of their relationship. From their first date, to their proposal, to quality time that they now spend together, running has been there and provided a conduit to strengthen their love for themselves and their love for each other. Although these incredible culture breakers run and live life with their own unique style, one thing is for certain - their commitment to authenticity, vulnerability and bravery is something that each of us can learn from and be inspired by. This week Mark and Allen break down the Episode where we first hear a reference to Gryzzle! With the Pawnee-Eagleton merger forcing many cuts, including Pawnee Central High's prom, the Parks Department decides to throw prom for them, obviously on a very limited budget. Leslie meets with the prom committee, including Tom, Ben, Donna, and several high school students, with Leslie particularly impressed with a young lady named Allison Gliffert, who has many impressive Knope-like qualities (and binders). She reminds Leslie of herself, and the two get along great ... in fact, Leslie plans to offer Allison a summer internship with the Parks Department. When Ron finds out about this, we learn that Ron ALSO knows Allison and thinks a lot of her, bristles at the thought of Allison working for the government for free, and coaxes her to instead take a paying job working for his friend at the sawmill. Their clashing ideologies lead Leslie and Ron to butt heads as they try to win Allison over. This persists through both the pre-prom setup and the prom, getting more intense as time goes by, until Allison freaks out and runs away. Meanwhile, during the prom planning, Leslie assigns music to Ben and Tom. As expected, the two have very different tastes, styles, and schools of thought regarding music selection. Not only that, but Tom clearly looks at Ben with disdain, seeing him as an embarassing, out-of-touch old man. At the prom, Tom takes over and plays what he feels are cool, popular "bangers", convinced that everyone will love it. However, he is eventually told by students that they aren't really into his music choices. Tom takes this hard, concerned that he no longer knows what's cool. Finally, excited about the upcoming prom at Pawnee Central High, Andy happily asks April to go with him to prom. Due to her overt hatred for dancing, young people, fun (and apparently punch), April is NOT pleased about this ... but she loves Andy, he finally wins her over, and she reluctantly agrees to go. However, in typical April style, she dresses in all black, remains snarky, and seems to put very little effort into enjoying herself at the prom. She sees Andy cheerful, happy, getting along with everyone, and having a great time ... while she just wants to go home. This all makes her wonder ... how can she love him when she hates everything he loves? As always, we tackle the tough questions, such as ... As Leslie and Ron clash, can one of their ideologies prevail? Can Ben and Tom ever agree on what to play? Will April stay at the prom? What is the "Leslie Knope 10-Point Insanity Scale"? Is there anything Ben can do to make Tom feel better? Is there anyone that can give April some comfort and advice? Who is ... DJ Robo Drop? Who will the prom king and queen be? Is there a special surprise waiting for Leslie at the end of the episode? Loyal podcast viewers, Mark and Allen have seen some of their largest score differentials here in Season 6. Will this episode continue the trend? Stay tuned to find out! Many thanks to our wonderful sponsor, "Pawnee ... What If?".

It's a serious question and Stigall makes the case today. This show isn't for the faint of heart and some very real, very tough talk is heard within. It's time to begin asking ourselves just what the political opposition to Republicans really stands for and who and what they stand with. Any objective analysis leads you to some disturbing conclusions. RedState.com's Bonchie joins Stigall to discuss this, Biden's 4-day late reaction to the slaughter of Israel, RFK's independent announcement, and more. Plus, to drive his point home, Stigall closes with an editorial that ran just last week in the Washington Post that America needs more atheists. -For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
