Phil and Josh look back at a weekend that went the way of The Captain in multiple places. At Indy, Scotty McLaughlin set the four-lap track record for qualifying to earn his first Indy 500 pole. For the second time, Penske swept the front row - even with Alexander Rossi attempting to spoil the party. On the flip side, Grahayame Raehaul almost went home for a second consecutive year while Marcus Ericsson made the last row shootout somewhat interesting with his multiple mishaps but the format needs to be adjusted. The guys go over all of this plus Kyle Larson's chances from the 5th starting position. With only three cars in the Top 12, does Honda have the power to battle Chevy? Scott Dixon is chasing an elusive second Indy 500 win, but has his worst starting position (21st) of his illustrious career. At North Wilkesboro, Joey Logano dominated from pole for his second All-Star Race win. However, the story was Oh, Richard nailing Kyle Busch with a right cross after KyBu turned Stenhouse into the wall two laps into the main event. Keebler Gibbs, DWJ and Gagson advanced through the Open race. Phil and Josh go over the race itself with the addition of the option tire, the post-race shenanigans and what to take from the event as they move to the Coca-Cola 600. The Truck Series race was delayed due to apocalyptic rains that flooded the track, but Corey Heim ended up in his usual spot up front for his third win of 2024. Brendan "Butterbean" Queen along with former CARS Tour driver Layne Riggs were the standouts behind Heim, while Tyler Ankrum and Ty Majeski won the stages. The guys go over all of this and the points heading to Charlotte. Formula 1 was the usual winner, but Fish Lips didn't have it as easy as he usually does. Lando Norris got to his buddy and made FL earn the win at Imola, while Charles Leclerc gave Ferrari a home podium. Oscar Piastri arguably had the fastest car behind FL, but held Kevin Magnussen up in qualifying and copped a five-place grid penalty. Having to come up through traffic at a circuit which is virtually impossible to pass on relegated the McLaren driver. Sir Lewis Hamilton finished sixth but the same issues arise for Mercedes in qualifying and pit stops while Carlos Sainz continues to get the short end as he battles Leclerc at Ferrari. For the GSP Roundup, Phil goes over F2/F3 at Imola, Supercars Perth Supersprint, NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Chicago, MotoGP/Moto2 in Catalunya, and Formula E's doubleheader in Shanghai before the previews. Phil and Josh preview and make their picks for Monaco, Charlotte and Indy before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.

Break 2: INGLES 4 STORY 4: Women get same exercise benefits as men but with less effort: study A recent study has found that women can reap the same benefits from exercise as men, but with less effort required. This research identified a "gender gap" in physical exertion, revealing that women can exercise less frequently than men and still achieve greater cardiovascular gains. The study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), utilized data from over 400,000 U.S. adults collected between 1997 and 2019 by the National Health Interview Survey. The results showed that regular physical activity reduced mortality risk by 24% in women and 15% in men. Notably, the research indicated that men need to engage in moderate to vigorous activities like brisk walking or cycling for about five hours per week to reach their maximal survival benefit. In contrast, women can attain the same benefit with just two-and-a-half hours of similar activity per week. When it comes to weightlifting and other muscle-strengthening exercises, men peak at three sessions per week, while women only need one. Women also reach maximal survival benefit at 140 minutes of exercise per week, whereas men require twice that amount. STORY 5: Did religious people cope much better during the pandemic? A University of Cambridge study found that religious individuals coped better with the Covid-19 pandemic than non-religious ones. The mental health decline was 60% worse for non-believers. The research, which analyzed data from the UK and US, showed that those with strong religious beliefs experienced less unhappiness during the pandemic. The study suggests that religion can bolster self-esteem and coping skills in times of crisis. However, the benefits of religion were not observed in areas with strict lockdowns, indicating the importance of access to places of worship. The research highlights the role of religious faith in building resilience and providing hope during challenging times. STORY 6: LEAH MCGRATH And now here is my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on food longevity. ***LEAH MCGRATH*** We'll have final thoughts after this. Aunt Cathy wanted to be one of the boys. She loved washing parts in Ralph's backyard racing shop. But soon came womanhood and she was removed from the male-dominated garage. That was a tough pill to swallow. Ya see, Cathy was born into a true passion for racing. A few years later, Cathy was able to show her racing worth in what was then known as "Powder-Puff" races. The all-female races were an added bonus to a local short track racing program. But to an Earnhardt, it was a chance to win. In a span of decade, Cathy went ten-for-ten in Powder Puff events to become the only undefeated Earnhardt.Cathy gives a personal look into what it was like to grow up in the Earnhardt house in Kannapolis. She details the unrelenting strictness of Ralph Earnhardt and what was expected of them as children. She also reveals that Ralph Earnhardt did more than just work on his own cars, he worked on liquor cars for legendary racer and moonshiner Junior Johnson. Watkins lets us in on details about Ralph's health and the heart attack that caused his untimely death in 1973. She explains how seeing the shop door closed behind the house was crushing. After Ralph's passing, Dale Earnhardt used his iron-clad work ethic to create opportunities to race. He was a self-made racer that eventually made it to the pinnacle of the sport. That success on track came at the cost of his family life. Two failed marriages and drama created an inconsistent childhood for Dale Jr. and Kelley. The three Earnhardts talk about the complications of family dynamic. They share memories of the fight between Dale's mom Brenda and Dale's wife Teresa and more.Cathy's racing life didn't end after her ten race wins. She developed a relationship with one of Dale's crew members, Mike Watkins. She shares how they kept the relationship hidden from Dale Earnhardt for a while. The sneaking around led to a long-time marriage and a shared life on the road working souvenir haulers at NASCAR tracks and on the road for the Earnhardt family. Working at the track, Cathy developed a true passion for conversing with race fans. Oh, except that one time they said ugly things about her brother. That's a story you have to hear!
