I have been waiting two and a half years to make this announcement and the time has finally arrived! As many of you know, I have been very vocal about the horrors our children face from the underbelly of our society. The only way we stop this gorilla of a monster, that is only continuing to grow in strength, is to come together and do everything we can to demolish the industry of child sex trafficking. On today's episode, I have the honor of speaking with Forrest Sealey, the executive director for Veterans 4 Child Rescue (V4CR) about not just the problem but the solution we can all get involved in. We discussed the very dark reality of this horrific industry and shared some vital information that even had me shocked at how this industry is able to operate with kids who are still in school and living under the roofs of their parents. If there was ever a time I will ask you for your help, it is on this show. Please share this episode far and wide from a place of love and desire to inform others on how they can help as well. And please consider being part of the solution financially if you are able to. A $150 billion industry will only be taken down by a financial solution that matches it…which means we have a lot of work to do! And if you're interested in learning how you can get more involved to help bring in more donations, please do not hesitate to email me nicole@nicolefrolick.com. The P.A.S.T.O.R. Framework® is the formula I use to craft every piece of sales copy I write. It is also the most "borrowed" piece of knowledge that I've ever taught. I've seen it shared in countless blog posts, videos, and forums around the net (often without proper attribution, but that's okay...I guess). The thing is, to really use this formula effectively, you need to learn a little more than just what each letter of the acronym stands for. This week, I'm diving deeper into each step of the process with a P.A.S.T.O.R. "mini" Masterclass. Listen carefully, put these concepts to work, and you WILL sell more of your stuff. Open podcasting has always been vitally important to how the industry works. Still, it's hard to talk about without getting super technical or glazing over in the middle of the conversation. This is because those conversations often start with the most tech-savvy industry folks – not your average podcaster – and certainly not your average podcast listener. But open podcasting is crucial to our industry, and the way things are moving, it's at threat. So much so that a coalition known as the Podcast Standards Project has assembled on a mission to protect it. In this episode, we'll look at why open podcasting is so important to independent podcasters and what we can do to protect it. Check out our full blog post: Why We Need To Protect Open Podcasting (& How You Can Help!)
In this episode we sit down with Ben Shaw, a prominent figure in the tattoo industry, to discuss a new law that could potentially have devastating consequences for the tattooing community. The law in question has been causing alarm amongst tattoo artists and enthusiasts alike, as it threatens to fundamentally change the way tattooing is regulated and practiced. But it's not all doom and gloom! We also discuss practical steps that we can take to help prevent overreaching regulations like what happened in Europe. We examine the importance of staying informed, getting involved in local politics, and actively advocating for the tattooing industry. How You Can Help!APT Membership: https://safe-tattoos.com/membershipBody Art Regulations Support System: https://discord.gg/aASJDruaj5Follow Ben on:Instagram:https://instagram.com/benshawarchetype?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK-rGNjPEhFezK_4gHfKg9QWatch full episode: https://youtu.be/mf9jlM-YwWsShow Your SupportBuy Us A Coffee: http://buymeacoffee.com/tattooguardiansListen/Watch:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TattooGuardiansPodcast?sub_confirmation=1Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1559399749Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2YQ7wqW9ltHVeVE2kF7e7BTattoo Guardians Coaching:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/543011129603891Follow Tattoo Guardians Podcast:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tattooguardianspodcast/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tattooguardianspodcast/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@tattooguardianspodcastFollow Us On Instagram:Joshua Carlton: https://www.instagram.com/joshuacarltonofficial/Matt Clemmer: https://www.instagram.com/mattdclemmer/HIP: https://www.instagram.com/hip_81/Tattoo Business Mastery: https://www.instagram.com/tattoobusinessmastery/Listen on 20+ platforms:https://linktr.ee/tattooguardianspodcastSupport the show

And all of [that] starts with people.” - J'aime Drayton [06:21] “Managing volunteers is probably the hardest thing I think I've ever done. Audie Alumbaugh received her master's degree in special education but has been an unpaid advocate for Arkansas children for over 10 years. Her passion began when teaching mathematics and recognizing that middle school and high school students were unable to perform at the potential when “word problems” were presented to them. it did not take long after that for her to realize the reading crisis in Arkansas. When her faculty position at the University of Central Arkansas and her advocacy for children resulted in what public school superintendents referred to as a “conflict of interest,” Audie left her faculty position knowing children's education is more important and much more urgently needed. Audie has advocated for thousands of children and attended thousands of 504 and IEP meetings around the state as well as several outside of her home state. In 2015 Audie founded the Arkansas Dyslexia Support Group and funded its activities herself. Audie works tirelessly with the Arkansas legislature. Through her work several laws have been enacted strengthening public schools' responsibility in identifying children with dyslexia and providing proper science-based intervention. Audie has assisted advocates in other states and worked to strengthen their laws as well. This is a labor of love for Audie. Adil Hussain interview. We've all lived through extraordinary times over the past year, and we're still trying to find our way back to the world we remember. The same can be said for Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery after their jump from the 23rd to the 32nd century. In both cases, catastrophe turned life upside down. But when Burnham finally came in contact with remnants of the Federation she had left behind, she met a man of extraordinary patience, Aditya Sahil, who embodied all the ideals of Starfleet and Gene Roddenberry's vision. In this episode of The Ready Room, hosts C Bryan Jones and Larry Nemecek are joined by the man who portrayed Sahil—Adil Hussain—for a somewhat different episode as we take a look at a real-world crisis and how we can help those in need. Adil joins us from his home in New Delhi to talk about the Covid-19 situation in India, the art of acting and what inspired his portrayal of Sahil, as well as Star Trek and entertainment as a coping mechanism during difficult times. Today, July 30, is the WORLD DAY AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING! I had a meeting with my uncle, Wayne, about his non-profit ministry he started to provide aftercare, healing, rehabilitation + restoration to victims of trafficking and abuse. This episode covers some of his story and provides details as to what ACTUALLY goes on in the world of anti-trafficking. I provide ways you can get involved, as well as share how God has brought these things together, and continues to do so.0:50 - today, July 30, is the WORLD DAY AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING and I just happened to have a meeting with my uncle, who has dedicated his life to the aftercare of trafficking + abuse victims!1:25 - my uncle's story of working with anti-human trafficking + starting his own ministry + how aftercare is neglected2:00 - I AM HERE ministries: https://iamhereministries.com2:30 - Current organizations that fight human trafficking and neglect the process of healing and rehabilitating these children / teens3:04 - THE MAIN POINT OF HIS MINISTRY IS TO BUILD A RANCH. to give kids forever homes and forever families! not 18 years of care and then a cliff, like what happens in foster care.4:00 - these kids have been abused by the people who are supposed to teach you WHAT LOVE IS. they grow up and eventually realize, "something isn't right here..."5:25 - it is so important for people who want to get involved in ending human trafficking to have the same bullshit meter that victims do! One survivor, Coco Berthmann, said she DOES NOT TRUST "OPERATION Underground Railroad"6:25 - The point of the ministry is to provide REAL healing, REAL aftercare. Not to get fame, attention, to go on fancy overseas rescue missions...7:08 - trafficking is HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!7:32 - When you're addicted, you will do anything to get your fix. That's how a lot of kids, in our neighborhoods and communities, get trafficked8:00 - the stories of how my uncle involved in this type of work, and how God is the one putting all the things together for him!!8:30 - Story 1: How he started doing this9:15 - Story 2: How he got the name for his ministry (I Am Here ministries)10:05 - Story 3: How he met his first donor + got his first donation (before his ministry was even created)11:20 - WHAT HE NEEDS FROM YOU GUYS! HOW YOU CAN HELP! (Property, money, prayer, sharing + spreading awareness, volunteers that love Jesus, materials for houses like doors, windows, toilets, etc.., large vehicles...)13:50 - aftercare vs. RESTORATION. (without the restorative process, saving these victims is useless)14:00 - THE BIG QUESTION: what happens to victims after they are rescued???14:35 - the youngest victim was 9 years old. that kid had to learn about God, and ask, "why didn't I experience God when I was going through that?" -- they have to find where God was during all the dark times, to know He was there or they wouldn't be saved today.15:30 - My uncle is Christian. I was deeeeeply New Age. So he prayed for me to come to Jesus. AND WHAT HAPPENED?16:00 - I HAD MY COME TO JESUS MOMENT and was shocked. Then I told him what happened, and found out he had literally prayed for that to happen16:30 - it's not about religion, it's about a relationship. and it brings people back to life!17:15 - There's a lot of attention on the issue right now, and it is GROWING EXPONENTIALLY during COVID lockdown. Why? Schools are mandatory reporters. These mandatory reporters are no longer there to be reporting.18:00 - What's in store for the future here

“There are opportunities where something bad has happened that's completely beyond these children; this is not their fault… And it's our job as a society and as a community to take care of them.” –Richard Villasana While the majority of the world lives within the comfort of their homes and families, thousands of children are living in the cold and darkness of a doomed tomorrow. We are surrounded by a snowballing number of foster kids and it’s becoming a worldwide concern. Young ones, even foster kids, are meant to enjoy the innocence and beauty of childhood. Today’s podcast sends out a message of hope for these children. Our guest, Richard Villasana, shares the unspoken plights that foster kids battle everyday and how his non-profit helps them find their family. It’s all about the children. They reserve the right for a bright future as much as we do. Thus, this episode is a call to action for everyone. The responsibility and privilege of making a change is ours. It's time for the weekly Culture Translator Podcast - we know you’ve been anxiously awaiting! This week...3 things to know: Teens love to be challenged. Not in necessarily in school but rather through social media. See the next internet sensation challenge - The Deodorant Challenge. This is just the latest hit in the long string of popular challenges (Tide Pod, Kylie Jenner Lip, Ice Bucket, Mannequin, etc.). This challenge involves spraying aerosol deodorant on someone else for as long as they can stand it. Sound weird? Try a bit dangerous. People are walking away from this challenge with severe burns and maybe a bit of pride. What’s at the root of this and why would students want to participate in something that is hurtful? The reason is not all the shocking or uncommon - peer pressure and FOMO. Teens want to be a part of what their friends are involved in. They don’t want to look like they can’t hang and so will do something that to others may look idiotic just to belong. That’s a driving force that will lead all of us to do things that we wouldn’t typically do. It is necessary to acknowledge the reality of peer pressure and the need to belong. Let’s not minimize that but rather call it out for what it is. This is a good starting point for conversation with your student- acknowledge the appeal of the challenge and how real peer pressure is. Topics to dive into from there include consequences of this challenge and where we get our identity and belonging from. Dive into their culture and then dive deep into conversation. Wanna dive in deeper? Check out the links below: Deodrant Challenge Breakdown Parents, How You Can Help Apparently, this is America according to Childish Gambino - if you haven’t heard already, Childish Gambino (aka. Donald Glover) released a new song and music video that overnight became a cultural phenomenon. Celebrities were tweeting about the genius of it, fans were raving about the intentionality of it, and due to the nature of the content there were many others who didn’t feel positively about it. Regardless, there was talk. In the music video, Childish Gambino represents America herself taking a stance on the violent culture that we live in and the ways we utilize media and entertainment and internet fads as rose-colored glasses. Warning...this is a violent and fairly graphic music video. So know that if you watch it, which we encourage you to. Why? We encourage you to because it is a form of art that comments on the world we live in. GenZ is known to be culturally aware and socially sensitive - the issues Childish Gambino addresses (race, gun violence, and other taboo topics) are ones that your teens most likely care about and have opinions about. Here’s a great opportunity to Culture Translate [what we do with every piece of media we encounter]. Ask these questions about the song and music video: 1. What was good? 2. What was missing? 3. What was confusing? When we start with these questions we are acknowledging all sides of the art. First ask these questions to your teen and then you answer! Not because it is so heartwarming though, because it walks with high school seniors as they are about to graduate. The impending end of their high school career drives them to live it up and try everything they always wanted to. They are really buying into that passé phrase, “Yolo.” All Night isn’t all that unique with the storyline but grabs at the experience of many teens - that desire to fully live and the urgency to do so. The characters live as if their lives will end after high school pushing them to do things they would typically never have had the courage to do. Although the show doesn’t offer much depth or substance, the conversation we find stemming from it does! Is this the message being taught to teens? Is there an example be modeled for students that this moment is all that life is about? It is not new for teenagers to be living for the here and now without so much as a nod to the future or consequences. However, where do we move from there? We encourage disciplers to paint a different vision as to what life is about. We rarely find lasting fulfillment from momentary pleasure, from the here and now, from a split second. Help them to identify consequences and to take a longer view than just this moment and just high school. There is a difference between being present and yolo-ing. Watch an episode if your teen is watching it. Then chat about it. To the depths: All Night Official Trailer BONUS TRANSLATION Ninja vs. LeBron is essentially begging the question sports or esports. The virtual world at times seems to be becoming more of a reality to teens than reality itself. There are careers in which teens can play video games. There are scholarships now for gamers to go to university. Thirteen year olds are even being signed to professional esport teams. Yup, this is reality for gamers out there now. Here’s where it breaks down for us. We need to know and learn about the things that our students care about. What an act of love to meet them in the things that they love. This act goes past words and demonstrates care! At the same time, healthy boundaries are still okay and needed. The reality is, too, that if you are meeting them in their space and they know you care - there is a greater chance of them respecting the boundaries. A note on recent events in our country and world... There is a dark cloud over our world right now and for weeks I was trying to decide what to do and how to proceed. And no, that doesn't mean using hashtags and prayers (although those should never be thrown aside because every teensy tinesy step counts). I realized that "doing something" meant talking to EVERYONE, asking questions, and ESPECIALLY informing myself when it comes to perspectives other than my own. This has been my MO for as long as I can remember, but this month has been a huge, grim reminder that I can do more and be better and search harder and dig deeper. Always. However, there is a delicate balance. For me, someone who has been born into skin deemed "white" and therefore has never experienced racism firsthand, I've wanted to gain massive insight on how I can be an ally and work toward change beyond posting an article on FB or a hashtag on Instagram (both of which are still important and will continue to do). But I know that some people aren't ready to jump into explaining "How You Can Help" to me. The country is grieving right now. The world is grieving. And it's wrong to assume that just because one person wants answers, another person is ready (emotionally) to give them counsel. And so I wanted to have a conversation about it....and so, so more. Enter Erica Chidi. Blending her skills as a doula, lactation counselor and chef, Erica guides expectant parents through their pregnancy and transition into parenthood. Her intuitive and gentle approach, coupled with her expertise has helped hundreds of families easily adjust into their new roles with support and confidence. In 2013 Erica founded The Mama Circle, which focused on nurturing women into motherhood. The Mama Circle provided doula services, lactation counseling, nutritional support as well as prenatal, postpartum and parenting education programs. Her newest venture, LOOM, is co-founded with Quinn Lundberg and set to open in Los Angeles in 2017. LOOM will be a wellness hub for pregnancy and parenting offering coaching, classes and community events. Erica's first book on pregnancy and early motherhood will be published by Chronicle Books and released in fall 2017. What I LOVE about this episode is how unexpectedly seamlessly all the topics flow together. From ways to practice gratitude during times of strain to how to prep for motherhood even if you don't really know if you're wanting kids yet to the generational wounds triggered by the most recent shootings and racist violence, this conversation with Erica is filled with wisdom, introspection, and inspiration to stay not only grounded, but balance being both empathetic and self-loving at the same time. Basically: what it means to confront the uncomfortable in all aspects of life. If you are feeling low, please do not berate yourself for being so profoundly affected...even if you can't put words to it. Energy is neither created nor is it destroyed. Our world is at an empathetic standstill, which means that those who DO feel deeply might be feeling enough for many others who don't have the awareness or courage to sit with and process their own emotions. It's okay. Feel all you feel, and feel it deeply. And then once you've let it sink into your bones, like calcium to the skeleton, use that empathetic energy you've metabolized to TAKE SUCH STRONG AND POWERFUL action that the world can't help but be better for you being in it. Thank you a million times over to Erica for sharing so much of herself with all of us. This episode is a must-listen. Be sure to listen until the end for a challenge for all WANTcast listeners - one of those small things that can make a HUGE difference.
