The stars of Frozen Tundra Wrestling are coming to the Venue at Rivers Edge on Friday night, November 24th at 7pm for Escalation Protocol: Blackout. Simon Sez from FTW talks with 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam's Wade Bates about the show.
It's the back half of our weird Simon Says/Sez double bill! This week we have the 1999 "action" "comedy" "thriller" Simon Sez with Dennis Rodman. Oh and Dane Cook is there to make sure you never, EVER, want to see Dane Cook again in your life.
In episode 18 of the Zero Percent Club we discuss the 1999 action movie starring Dennis Rodman and Dane Cook. Does Simon say this movie deserved its 0% rating? Music courtesy of M3lody M00n. Check them out on Spotify.
At the 1999 box office, the Dennis Rodman action vehicle Simon Sez came in at... Well, actually, we don't know, because Box Office Mojo's rankings end at #200, which was American Movie, which made $1,165,795. Simon Sez made $292,152 (somehow) on a budget of...well, quite a bit more than that, probably. You've probably never heard of Simon Sez, and we hadn't either, until Joey came upon it accidentally and it was just a movie we couldn't pass up. Simon Sez is a very strange relic of its time, a Eurotrash martial arts action movie, directed by the guy who wrote the Iron Eagle trilogy, that keeps switching genres, featuring an unbearable performance by an unbearable human being (Dane Cook) that was meant for Robert Downey Jr. It is, to use a variation of a phrase we often use on the show, a movie that could only be made at the time. But it's so bizarre and bad that it's impossible to not be fascinated by. We watched it so you don't have to, but we had a great time talking about it with filmmaker Matt Stuertz. You can find Matt on Twitter @MattStuertz

My guest today and I worked together in Club Med Paradise Island in 2002/2003. His first season was in Club Med Punta Cana in Winter of 1999 as a Tennis G.O. From Montreal (yahoo!) please help me welcome, Peter Anthony! Peter started to learn tennis at age 12 and eventually became a ranked competitive junior tennis player in the province of Quebec. He was teaching tennis in Montreal when a fellow tennis pro told him about Club Med. He gave Peter G.A.'s number and the rest is history. Even though it was Peter's first season, he quickly caught on that he joined one of the most stacked G.O. teams talent-wise, of the late 90's. Just to give you an idea, Moïses Aykanat was the CDV, Cookie the Chief of Animation, Kiko was the Chief of Sports, Flo was the animator and Monika from Brazil was the choreographer. At Circus you had Mac and Caius and Simon Sez was Landsports, to name just a few. Peter discusses his first season in depth and we also touch on the season we met in Paradise Island. Intalksicated Reviews once again is heading back in time to bring to bring you a film starting NBA star turned actor (?) Dennis Rodman. This week on 90s Proof is the film Simon Sez, a film that takes place on the French Rivera about a American Interpol agent working with Cyber Monks to take down a poor mans Joker. Comedian Martin Edwards joins Corey and Bryant to give this film the full court press while answering questions like Is this film cursed? Is Rave sex a thing? and could this be the worst thing Dane Cook has ever done?
Following on from the success of Michael Jordan's SPACE JAM (1996), the world demanded MORE films starring legendary NBA players, specifically from that Chicago Bulls team that won 6 championships. So this is what we got. Dennis Rodman playing a spy in SIMON SEZ (1999), a spy-action-comedy. Alongside Dane Cook. In this episode, we are joined by former Triple J Presenter Lewi McKirdy, now based in London. Last weekend Mindhertz dropped into the PBS studio's to drop a special live set on "The BPM Show" with Simon Sez. Dan is no stranger to the Australian Psychedelic scene. From the Yarra Valley in Victoria. He was first introduced into the Aussie Doof Community in 2002, becoming instantly hooked by the outdoor sound. In 2005 he started writing his own brand of slamming full on 150 bpm melodic Psy/Goa Trance under the name Mindhertz. His music is best described as a true trance experience with no stop/start bullshit. Full power from start to finish with deep driving baselines, twisted melody's and spooky atmospheres with a unique energetic edge. This set features some all new material from his upcoming E.P "For Outdoor use Vol. 2" which will be out soon on Melbourne's Highly Evolved Music. "BPM SHOW" PBS 106.7 FM 22/02/2020 -- Tracklist - 1. The 1999 movie SIMON SEZ features a brief scene where Dane Cook sports Dennis Rodman cosplay, and it is not even among the top 10 most painfully dated, over the top and out of place moments in this glorious vanity project for sadly, the person keeping US and North Korean relations afloat. Listen as Kenny, Phil and returning Guest Teddy Bressman dissect the arc of Dennis Rodman’s career as an actor, the rise and fall of Dane Cook’s star and get behind the scenes info from one of the screenwriters on the experience of taking 5 months in France having to write a movie where an Interpol agent is friends with two hacker monks one of which refers to himself as Free Willy.
Listen as host DJ Shawna talks to Steve Max, the nation’s leading Simon Sez caller. Taking the classic children's game to new heights, Steve’s hilarious and interactive show is seen nationally at hundreds of NBA, WNBA & college basketball, football and ice hockey halftime shows. In addition, he can be seen from New York to L.A. entertaining at corporate sales meetings where he transforms the sometimes ‘ho-hum’ atmosphere of a darkened ballroom into an interactive party of laughter while incorporating important themes of ‘listening’ and ‘teamwork’. Steve’s TV appearances include “The Ultimate Defender” which aired on ESPN during Super Bowl Weekend as well as “Battle of the Network Reality TV Stars” on Bravo TV. In addition, Steve has appeared on ESPN's prestigious 'Top Ten Plays of the Day', and most recently has played Simon Sez with Regis Philbin on the Hallmark Channel’s ‘Home & Family’ TV show. Steve’s high energy and quick wit will have every audience member totally involved and laughing throughout. Simon Sez ... hope to see you soon!

Junk January is our annual podcast where we review the worst movies we can find, and with that comes the return of guest podcaster and Baltimore comedian, Dan Marse-Kapr. We let him pick the theme this year, and that theme is, 0% rating on aggregate critic website Rotten Tomatoes. We review the 1999 Dennis Rodman (snicker) action vehicle 'Simon Sez'; 1998 adaptation of classic British spy show, 'The Avengers' (segment begins at 29:57); 1982 Barry Bostwick (snicker) action vehicle 'Megaforce' (48:57); and finally, possibly the worst film we've ever covered, John & Bo Derek's abysmal 1989 "comedy" 'Ghosts Can't Do It' (1:10:50). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/buried-cinema/support

Dennis Rodman returns in the form of a bumble-bee to plant the foundation of the XXX squad, by making Dane Cook the CEO. Its truly in the list of worst action movies ever made and could be the gold standard for enjoyably dumb action movies...if it wasn't for Dane Cook. Dane Cook blows. You know this, so we aren't going to devote time here to review his schtick - what will do instead is warn you that he is truly at his least formed here, with the most "punch me" act ever captured on celluloid. He's worse than Jar Jar. Now the good - it's WAY OVER THE TOP in the action department. Imagine Jackie Chan kung-fu and stunts but performed on screen by people who should be hot dog vendors. Then tack all that on top of Pumaman level of rear projection effects. It's outlandishly fun when you aren't staring down the barrel of an unloaded Dane Cook. He blocks your vision from the good. Then there is the plot of the film - an oblivious double kidnapping pit the fathers of said kids into a series of scheduling conflicts and interference by Simon's (Rodman) team who have no clue what is even going on. Somehow there is a colonel, a laser that can't work, a villain who may be the reincarnation of Jerry Lewis and thinks the Microsoft Office Paper Clip is the bomb. So imagine a XXX/Pumaman mashup with no talent, yes less talent than Pumaman. It's so close to brilliance, but sadly in the end the "comedy" troupe here drops it down by three stars to just a barely do.

It's a good thing we got coffee as we are still recovering from the epic 32nd Anniversary party at Two Guys Smoke Shop. We will recap this event, and let you know how the event came together, the game, who was crowned King of Cigars, and who won out of all the customers attending the show. It was a crazy night and there will be a lot of stories to tell but it won't just be about XXXII. We will unveil what is planned for 2018 at the 33rd Anniversary Event! We will break down the latest issue of the best cigar magazine on the planet, Cigar Journal and we will even light up a couple of cigars. Including the Plus 90, which we got a lot of feedback and Barry will share the story at some point during our cigar experience as it is part of the Cigar Authority Care Package. In the second hour we will continue the Anniversary trend as we light up the cigar from Barry's wedding on the eve of his 1st Anniversary. All that and the usual shenanigans with Debonaire Mr. J, Asylum Barry, Cigar News, Classic 3 Way and even a few mail bags.. The Cigar Authority is recorded live in front of a studio audience at Studio 21 Podcast Cafe upstairs at Two Guys Smoke Shop in Salem, NH and as always you can find many of the cigars we discuss at http://www.2GuysCigars.com/.

Did Dennis Rodman's career ever rebound after this disaster? IMDB Synopsis: Basketball superstar Dennis Rodman stars as a hip Interpol agent attempting to defeat the deadly plans of a crazed arms dealer. Robert Downey Jr. was replaced with Dane Cook because Downey dropped out and they needed someone within a few days. Is this movie cursed as three of the actors died from heart disease way before they're time. Be sure to rate and subscribe on itunes! It really helps us and means a lot. Joseph Vecsey returns to TFP as he and Dean dedicate the episode to reviewing the recent Bad Boy Reunion concert that took place downtown Brooklyn at the Barclay's Center. Listen as they reminisce about that era of Hip Hop, Puffy's indelible imprint on pop culture and as they also argue whether Pharoahe Monch's "SIMON SEZ" has the equivalent head nod factor as Black Rob's "WHOA". Special TFP salute to Vecsey's Mom Dukes for her love of Hip Hop & for bringing a young Joseph to Puff Daddy & The Family's "NO WAY OUT" Tour 19 years ago as well as them seeing Puff in concert again recently(This is an actual photo of Vecsey's program from the original "NO WAY OUT" Tour). The summer ninja series has come to a close. We now return to our regular pre-May programming with a Your Stupid Minds mainstay: a movie with a basketball player! Dennis Rodman stars in arguably the worst of his two action movie vehicles: Simon Sez. Fresh off the heels of Double Team starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Mickey Rourke, Rodman returns to (or remains in) France to make this action spy comedy. Simon (Rodman) is a freelance Interpol agent working to uncover a mysterious arms deal with his monk-attired partners Micro (John Pinette) and Macro (Ricky Harris). Later, Nick Miranda (played by an insufferable Dane Cook) asks Simon to help him with a kidnapping exchange. Their two missions intersect and the spy group must stop the vamping bad guy from blowing up the Eiffel Tower.
