We're always going through some kind of loss, celebration, or change in our lives. Joining me to discuss the importance of ritual during times of great transition is Day Schildkret. Day is internationally known for the creation of Morning Altars, beautiful pieces of impermanent art. He is also the author of Hello, Goodbye: 75 Rituals for Times of Loss, Celebration, and Change.  A conversation about divorce is a conversation about endings. In order to begin again, it is important to mark this transition. Putting things in order through ritual can be healing. It helps you to feel resourced, reoriented, supported and witnessed. Learning how to let go and honor what once was, through ritual, is such an important topic. I hope you truly enjoy this conversation.  “Endings are valuable. The better you can end something, the better you can begin something new.” Show Highlights Why Day says, “You have to change with change.”  And what it means to participate in ending something, such as a relationship or marriage. (7:52) Endings need more from us than just going through the threshold. (10:02) Ritual: what it is and how it helps. (11:26) Why you need witnesses for endings as much as you do for beginnings. Witnesses affirm you are not alone and also acknowledge that change is happening. (12:17) Life transitions: we need to mark the places where we are turning, if we don't we still think we are on the same path. (15:54) Day talks about Morning Altars and how divorce and grief inspired him to start this practice of creating impermanent art from nature. (23:51) Rituals always have a beginning, middle, and end. They are contained and allow the space for grief, uncertainty, and emotion.  They encourage wholeness. (29:20) Day talks us through one of the divorce rituals from his book Hello, Goodbye: 75 Rituals for Times of Loss, Celebration, and Change. (31:31) There is a right and wrong time to do a ritual. If you are in the heat of a divorce or transition, it may not be the right time. (35:07) The importance of moving from grievance into grief. (38:47) Learn more about Day Schildkret: DAY SCHILDKRET is internationally known for Morning Altars and has inspired tens of thousands of people across the globe to heal and connect with nature, art and ritual. WOMEN SIPPING ON LIFE (with doctor shannon) | Stop Drowning | Start Sipping | Daily Inspiration | Hope | Certainty | Abundanc

Kim McMillan said it well, “When I loved myself enough I began to feel a divine presence in me and hear its guidance. I am learning to trust this and live from it.” There is a Divine Presence within you. YOU. ARE. DIVINE. God, the Creator of the Universe, made YOU in His own image. Do you know what this means? It means that you were designed in the IMAGE OF LOVE. YOU are made with the DNA OF DIVINE LOVE. That’s incredible. That’s genetically genius, right? And so are YOU. It’s IN you, and YOU can choose to live and love in it and from it. You are DIVINELY DESIGNED. Not just in the beginning, but throughout your entire life. In order to know this, you must begin seeing your Divine Nature and listening to your Divine Inner Voice… It’s NOT YOUR voice. It’s the voice of the ONE who created YOU. But it’s also YOUR VOICE, because it’s the voice that is speaking uniquely to YOU. It’s for YOU. Customized. Personalized. Specialized. Divinely inspired and spoken. People ask me all the time, “But what if I’m hearing my own voice, and it’s really not the voice of God?” This is how you’ll know… 1. Does it give you peace that goes beyond your own understanding? 2. Does it bring freedom in your life? Freedom to your life? Knowledge of the TRUTH sets us free. 3. Do you KNOW? If I think it’s God, it’s probably not. When I feel as though I know it’s God…it probably is. And this is HOW to HEAR the VOICE I’m talking about… Love. Listen. Learn. Live. One of the most loving things I do for myself is recognizing and receiving my abundant, prosperous life with thanksgiving. Even on the days when it doesn’t always feel this way. And in fact, ESPECIALLY on these days. AND…I ASK. I ask a lot of questions. I literally talk to (with) God. And I listen. I learn. I receive with a grateful heart in meditation, and in the daily act of being aware. I listen in meditation, and by being aware of what my life is showing and telling me, I hear the voice of God. I pray and praise. And I ASK…in that moment. I ask empowering, heartfelt questions. And I get answers. I ask and receive. Those who ask are those who receive. Those who seek are those who find. Pay attention, my dear. You may be asking FOR stuff, while being so distracted by what you THINK it “should” look like that you don’t see what it really is, and can be. Is that you today? Perhaps this is you… Be aware. Listen. Be ready, willing, and open, to receive. Be ready, willing, and open, to SEE AND HEAR THE TRUTH WITH YOUR HEART. GOD IS TRUE, ABIDING, UNFAILING LOVE. Looking for quick wins and fast personal growth? This journaling technique I'm teaching in today's podcast is great if you don’t have access to a coach who can talk you through your patterns. The only way we can change our lives is if we see our patterns. If you’re not into journaling, this episode may just change your ways. Are you a high-achiever who doesn't have time for journaling? That’s okay because this is a quickie practice. You can write this down just before you write your grocery list. It’s designed to be quick. And you can take what you love and leave the rest behind. I'm outlining this step by step practice and have included a PDF version for you to download in the show notes. You can get your journal pages here: https://www.dinacataldo.com/22 Where did I get this from? Years of inconsistent journaling, weeks of time spent at personal development events, thousands of hours reading self-help books, and hundreds of hours of coaching with some amazing people. Plus my experience as a lawyer who wants to know that I’m seeing results and not wasting my time with fluff. The few minutes you take for yourself each morning or evening when you do this will be worth it though. You’ll notice more about yourself than you ever could when you follow this practice. This simple technique will be uncomfortable at first. Our reptilian brain doesn’t like change. It thinks it’s protecting us by keeping us in our safe space. But the discomfort means we’re growing. Just remember that when your brain rebels and says, “No, I’ll take a break from journaling today.” Just dismiss that voice and start writing. You won’t regret it. You may want to tweak this to your own liking, but these are the elements of my journaling practice, and each piece serves a different function as I’ll explain in today's podcast. You can get the free journaling guide in the show notes at https://www.dinacataldo.com/22
