Ann Kittredge is an award-winning performing artist who has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and at major venues across the country, working with top producers and directors throughout her career. Offstage, Ann has volunteered as a child education advocate and is currently Vice President of the American Songbook Association, an organization that provides music workshops to underprivileged NYC public school students. Carolyn Montgomery is the Executive Director of the American Songbook Association, as well as a MAC, Bistro and Nightlife Award winning singer/songwriter. She's performed in 42 states across the nation as well as London, Mexico and Canada. She lives on the west side of Manhattan with a teenage son and a Jack Russell terrier. Wendy started her performing career in regional theater after she graduated with honors from Northwestern University (BA,Theater). She made her Cabaret Debut in 1988 with a sold out run at Danny's Skylight Room (NYC) with her show The Lights and The Smiles. Following MetroStar, Scherl began her collaboration with multiple award-winning director Barry Kleinbort, and esteemed Musical Director Christopher Denny (MD for Karen Mason and the late Julie Wilson). Can you name a female scientist? How about two? If you can’t, don’t worry. The recognition of female scientists is rather poor. But don’t worry because on this episode of the Super Awesome Science Show, we have got you covered. We’ll go through some of the most amazing contributions women have made to advancing our technology and making your lives better. We also are fortunate to welcome two of Canada’s greatest science superheroines to the show. Our first guest has been known for well over two decades, Julie Payette. She first gained popularity in 1999 as the second female Canadian in space and was a member of a second mission to space in 2009.  She made headlines again in 2017 when she was installed as our Governor General. We speak about her journeys over this time and how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, known as STEM, has played a significant role throughout her life. She also offers her advice to those who feels that STEM is for them and why experimenting is a necessary part of life.   We next speak with Dr. Molly Shoichet. She is one of our country’s greatest scientists. She has achieved incredible success in her work and is the only person to be a fellow of Canada’s three national academies – the Canadian Academy of Sciences of the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She has also given back to the public through her attempts to merge Hollywood and research. She shares her journey with us and offers some inspiration to those who wish to seek out STEM as a vocation. If you’re among the latter, we’re got some bad news for you: the cape-themed franchise is probably here to stay, especially if Disney has anything to say about it. Black Panther, the 18th movie in Marvel’s ongoing super hero franchise opens today and will likely add a Hulk-sized load of dollars to Disney’s bottom line. It didn’t used to be this way, but in the 10 short years since Marvel launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, things have changed. Stand-alone movies are now as rare as Super Heroines.
