Our guest, Alaya Dannu, shares an important message for humanity which showed up in a dream she calls The Eternal Return in which the three ancient mothers (also called Ammas) made specific requests for how we can bring the world back into balance. Among their requests, they suggest that we can make our lives sacred starting by connecting with the body.  After the break we take a call from Kimberly from Gilbert, Arizona about how to heal enough to get to the point of being able to access the sacred. Alaya recommends that we investigate our lineages and find supportive communities and also that we commit to movement practices and create sacred spaces in our homes. BIO: Alaya A. Dannu, MA, M.Ed. (Ama Diya Dannu) is a doctoral candidate in the Education Leadership for Change program at Fielding Graduate University. Her dissertation project, an autoethnographic documentary, explores the requests of three ancient ancestral Mothers experienced through dreams and their potential value in addressing contemporary societal and environmental issues. Join me in this episode for a discussion of one of Nietzsche's most celebrated ideas: Amor Fati. This episode directly responds to the previous two episodes regarding Nietzsche's idea of the Eternal Return. For Nietzsche, Amor Fati represents the "eternal confirmation and seal" of what he describes throughout his writings - especially in Twilight of the Idols, Ecce Homo, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and the Birth of Tragedy - as an apotheosis into the "Dionysian Worldview." . Is Your Life a Favorite Song to Higher Dimensional Beings? | Cosmic Philosophy & The Music of Existence Join Joli and her special guest, The Kosmic Jedi, in this thought-provoking episode of "Your One Black Friend." Dive into discussions on collective consciousness, the role of nature as a teacher, and the concept of being "watchers" in society. Explore the idea of life as a grand symphony, and how we contribute to the harmony or discord of the collective melody. In this episode, Joli Artist and The Kosmic Jedi delve into the philosophical depths of existence, questioning if our lives are akin to music for higher-dimensional beings. Could advanced life forms view human life as unique songs in a cosmic catalog? Imagine a species of advanced, higher-dimensional life forms with lifespans incomprehensibly longer than our own, who have crafted our reality as a form of entertainment. To them, each of our lives is a unique song in a cosmic catalog of their music. Think of a being experiencing your life as you would your favorite symphony. Our planet could simply be one symphonic anthology within a vast, nearly infinite collection of cosmic albums. Can you think of Earth as a constantly evolving musical score, where each species, ecosystem, and geological event contributes its own unique sound to the overall composition? Picture everything on our planet as part of a dynamic, living album that's always playing, with Higher-dimensional beings 'tuning in' to witness the rich variety of melodies created by the interaction of natural and human influences. This concept mirrors Friedrich Nietzsche's Eternal Return, which suggests the universe and everything within it recurs infinitely. It likewise aligns with the Big Bounce theory in cosmology which posits that the universe undergoes continuous cycles of expansion and contraction. Could each “Big Bounce“ cycle be akin to a complex record playing on a device engineered by higher beings? In the future, there will exist a technology that will allow us tweak our favourite songs to fit our tastes perfectly. But what if a similar technology is already shaping our lives, used by whatever engineered or is engineering our reality? In this scenario, our lives would loop like a favourite song, with the device's technology enabling slight variations with each playback, resulting in subtle differences in every cycle. This would allow for adjustments to our life ‘tracks' during each loop or “recurrence,” in a manner similar to how you will soon be able to modify your favourite music to suit your exact preferences. Questions Explored: - Can our lives be like music to beings from other dimensions? - What does Nietzsche mean by life repeating forever/eternal occurrence? - Do beings from other worlds watch our lives? - Are we like entertainment to advanced alien civilizations? - Can we think of our lives as songs? - How do deeper ideas change how we see life? - Is there a link between science and spiritual beliefs? - Creative applications of string theory? - How do we fit into the bigger picture of the universe? - Is everything we do part of a bigger cosmic story? - What's cosmic philosophy all about? - How does the idea of life repeating affect us? - Is there proof of higher dimensions? - How can we understand collective consciousness? - What does it mean to be a "watcher" in society? - Can life be compared to a symphony? - What is the significance of being "out of tune" in life? - How does the concept of a hive mind apply to humanity? - Can our life stories be symphonies to other beings? - What are the implications of considering existence as music? -Can science and spirituality find common ground? - How are quantum theory and life's mysteries connected? - Are there other beings aware of us? - What if Earth is just a track in a cosmic album? - How can thinking of life as a symphony change my perspective? - How do philosophy and science help solve life's big mysteries? Entering the Kingdom of God involves a dynamic, ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ, characterized by the consistent acknowledgment of His lordship over our lives. This commitment requires continual repentance to align ourselves with the values and teachings of His kingdom. In doing so, we entrust our past to Jesus, inviting His judgment and grace to free us from the burdens that inhibit the fullness of life. By surrendering our future anxieties and fears to God, we open ourselves to the peace and assurance that only He can provide. This entrance into the Kingdom is not merely a conceptual shift but a transformative, mystical experience. It is a state of perpetual communion with Jesus, where each moment is imbued with a sense of divine union and purpose. Through this mysterious partnership, we navigate the complexities of earthly existence, fueled by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Today's lesson delves into the relationship between Jesus, the cosmos, and the Myth of the Eternal Return. Ancient religions often perceived the cosmos as an endless cycle. They believed that, periodically, everything must revert to its original chaotic state from the dawn of time, only to be reborn or regenerated. Regrettably, the ancient mind was ensnared by this ceaseless loop. Enter the Old Testament, and subsequently, Jesus and the New Testament. Through the Scriptures, God beckons humanity to break free from this vast cycle and advance towards a brighter future. Within Christianity, the idea of cosmic regeneration shifts focus to the spiritual rebirth of the individual. With this rebirth, an unprecedented freedom emerges. This profound message stood in stark contrast to the dominion of the Caesars in the Roman Empire. Jesus represents the true judge and savior of the cosmos. The alleviation of historical guilt stands as a testament to God's restorative power. To describe Meow Wolf as an artistic juggernaut might not be entirely hyperbolic. Founded in 2008 by a group of Santa Fe-based artists looking to show their work outside of the traditional art ecosystem, the collective created its first permanent exhibition in Santa Fe 2016 when famed author George R.R. Martin pledged $2.7 million to purchase an abandoned bowling alley. Meow Wolf titled the installation “House of Eternal Return,” and the surreal, immersive, semi-narrative, multi-artist, multimedia and multi-room experience it provided quickly garnered many fans and repeat visitors. Since the success of “House of Eternal Return,” Meow Wolf has opened several more gigantic installations: two in Las Vegas, one in Denver and as of July 2023 one Grapevine, TX titled “The Real Unreal.” Meow Wolf continues to be artist-run and employs artists both in their headquarters in Santa Fe and also in the locales where they install their new exhibits. In order to understand the extent to which the company's model of audience engagement and artist support might be a gamechanger nationally, “Art Restart” interviewed three Texas-based artists who contributed their talents to the creation of “The Real Unreal.”Kwinton Gray is a composer and sound designer based in Dallas; Will Heron, who is based in Austin, is a graphic designer and muralist; and Katie Murray is a painter and muralist based in Fort Worth.https://meowwolf.com/visit/grapevine

The company's origins are the stuff of legend. A scrappy band of Santa Fe artists with a penchant for building fantastical installations from mounds of trash each write down random words on slips of paper. They draw two from a hat, thus christening themselves Meow Wolf. That was 15 years ago. This weekend marks the opening of the fourth permanent Meow Wolf exhibition, located at the Grapevine Mills shopping mall outside Dallas, Texas. Featuring a story conceived by Wisconsin sci-fi and fantasy author LaShawn Wanak, and work by 30 Texas artists who collaborated with in the in-house artist team, "The Real Unreal," as the exhibition is titled, transforms a former Bed Bath and Beyond into an expansive art playground. Like the House of Eternal Return, Meow Wolf's first permanent location, the new exhibition appears to begin in the real world, in an ordinary suburban house—but the mundane trappings of family life quickly give way to the strange and unfamiliar, the boundaries between reality and fantasy blurring and disappearing. Since the 2016 opening in Santa Fe, Meow Wolf has amassed a devoted following for its interactive, immersive exhibitions, which use art to open portals into unknown realms. Obsessive fans have taken to Reddit to unravel all the secrets of the Meow Wolf universe. The Real Unreal is the company's first step in tying together the disparate sites and their inter-dimensional narratives in a more readily apparent way. And while you still may not have heard of Meow Wolf, the company is poised for even more explosive growth. Under the guidance of CEO Jose Tolosa, who came over from Viacom in 2022, the punk art collective-turned art and entertainment production company has plans to bring its spectacular artistic vision to a city near you, and to create new ways for you to engage with its unique, otherworldly storyline from the comfort of your own home. What started out as a crazy art funhouse, fueled by maker culture, has struck upon a business model that is primed to become an entertainment juggernaut. Ahead of the public opening in Grapevine, Artnet News senior writer Sarah Cascone spoke with Tolosa not only about the company's epic, world-building ambitions, but about staying true to its roots. So forget about the metaverse—Meow Wolf's handmade universe, at once artisanal and high-tech, is about to blow your mind.

How heartwarming a symbol is the “circle of life” really? Paul Stephan, Nietzsche expert and lecturer at the University of Leipzig, explains how Nietzsche's theory of Eternal Return does not exactly mean that we should “live life to the fullest.” When I first heard this theory as a teenager, I made things far too easy on myself. And as I discussed way back in Episode 9, Season 1 of The Schrift, we need a more heroic answer for why Jacob and Joseph celebrated Passover four hundred years before the Exodus.

Ramsey Dukes, also known by his real name of Lionel Snell, may be one of the most important thinkers on magic since Aleister Crowley. In the impishly-titled Sex Secrets of the Black Magicians Exposed (or SSOTBME for short), Dukes accomplishes something few writers on the topic have been able to do: he gives us magic without asking us to sacrifice anything that makes us sensible modern people. He makes magic seem like the most obvious thing in the world, and he does it without taking away any of its, well, magic. How he does it and what it means are questions that would take several episodes to unpack. In this one, Phil and JF begin the work by discussing how Dukes situates magic in an epistemic compass that also includes science, art, and religion. This set of tools is as essential to a holistic view of reality as the four suits in a deck of cards are essential to a proper poker game. In other words, when we lose magic, we lose a way of dealing with reality. Martin Riker's poignant and startlingly original novel asks how to foster a brave mind in anxious times, following a newly jobless academic rehearsing a speech on John Maynard Keynes for a surprising audienceIn a hotel room in the middle of the night, Abby, a young feminist economist, lies awake next to her sleeping husband and daughter. Anxious that she is grossly underprepared for a talk she is presenting tomorrow on optimism and John Maynard Keynes, she has resolved to practice by using an ancient rhetorical method of assigning parts of her speech to different rooms in her house and has brought along a comforting albeit imaginary companion to keep her on track--Keynes himself.Yet as she wanders with increasing alarm through the rooms of her own consciousness, Abby finds herself straying from her prepared remarks on economic history, utopia, and Keynes's pragmatic optimism. A lapsed optimist herself, she has been struggling under the burden of supporting a family in an increasingly hostile America after being denied tenure at the university where she teaches. Confronting her own future at a time of global darkness, Abby undertakes a quest through her memories to ideas hidden in the corners of her mind--a piecemeal intellectual history from Cicero to Lewis Carroll to Queen Latifah--as she asks what a better world would look like if we told our stories with more honest and more hopeful imaginations. With warm intellect, playful curiosity, and an infectious voice, Martin Riker acutely animates the novel of ideas with a beating heart and turns one woman's midnight crisis into the performance of a lifetime.Martin Riker is the co-founder and publisher of the feminist press Dorothy, a Publishing Project, and the author of Samuel Johnson's Eternal Return. He teaches in the English department at Washington University in St. Louis, and his criticism has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, among other publications.Buy the book from Wellington Square Bookshop - https://wellingtonsquarebooks.indiecommerce.com/book/9780802160416

This is a very special and different episode for the podcast. The question we are asking, do we return and live our lives over infinitely as Neville Goddard describes in his wheel of recurrence. Neville Goddard spoke in over 20 lectures of the unique idea that the soul in fact does not reincarnate but goes back in time, reliving the same life over starting from 20 years old, sometimes in the same timeline, sometimes in the past or future. Goddard explained that we do this over and over for 6000 years until we flower and experience the promise. In a recent interview with Josiah Brandt, he asked me if I had heard refernce to the Goddard's wheel of recurrence anywhere else?  I was perplexed and began looking to see if there was any similar discussion by other classic writers. Initially I found nothing but eventually I came upon a concept that appears to have been quite popular in past philosophical descriptions by everyone from Plato, Pythagoras, Nietzsche, Ouspensky and Gurdjieff. This lead me down a wide rabbit hole of information and discussion of the concept of eternal return PD Ouspensky a russian mystic who studied with the Gurdjiefff another amazing and very different mystical writer, believed that we repeat our lives infinitely. Ouspensky believes that many of us may experience this lives differently each time, evolving, intuiting the future because you have already experienced it. Evolving in a groundhog's day lifetime. Goddard explains that he could remember these lives in one lecture claiming that he had died repeatedly in his sixties. Here I read each the majority of what Goddard has to say in reference to the wheel of recurrence and then explore what ouspensky discusses in his book the search for the miraculous as well as discussing other sources of discussion of the eternal return. Perhaps it is not parallel realities you experiencing but a memory of past lives as we move through the wheel of recurrence. Tickets are now available for Reality Con 3 a live virtual event on November 18-20th.  If you ask anybody that has attended previous events it is so worth it. He is the author of Becoming God: Pure Reason in Early Greek Philosophy (Bloomsbury, 2012), and co-editor of Introductory Readings in Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy (Hackett, 2015). In this episode, we talk about Nietzsche and Plato. We start by talking about Nietzsche's phases in his writings, and ask if The Will to Power should be considered canon. We discuss why we can compare Nietzsche and Plato. And then we get into some of the aspects of their philosophies, and where they diverge and converge, including: the Dionysian, the Apollonian, and the Greek poets; their metaphysics; the Eternal Return, and time as linear or circular; slave and master morality; Plato's Republic, hierarchy, and democracy; and the differences between the Philosopher King and the Übermensch. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: KARIN LIETZCKE, ANN BLANCHETTE, PER HELGE LARSEN, LAU GUERREIRO, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, HERBERT GINTIS, RUTGER VOS, RICARDO VLADIMIRO, CRAIG HEALY, OLAF ALEX, PHILIP KURIAN, JONATHAN VISSER, JAKOB KLINKBY, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, PAULINA BARREN, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ARTHUR KOH, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SUSAN PINKER, PABLO SANTURBANO, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, JORGE ESPINHA, CORY CLARK, MARK BLYTH, ROBERTO INGUANZO, MIKKEL STORMYR, ERIC NEURMANN, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, BERNARD HUGUENEY, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, YEVHEN BODRENKO, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, DON ROSS, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, OZLEM BULUT, NATHAN NGUYEN, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, J.W., JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, IDAN SOLON, ROMAIN ROCH, DMITRY GRIGORYEV, TOM ROTH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, AL ORTIZ, NELLEKE BAK, KATHRINE AND PATRICK TOBIN, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS P. With Brian having finally finished BSG, it is now time for Leah to guide him through thinking about its meaning and weird religious implications. Along the way, we're offering a sampler of highlights from the world of religion and pop culture scholarship engaging with the show. We consider the gritty political context of the BSG universe and the show's spiritual messages, and we ponder the fate of polytheism as a concept.
