— “The transformative journey that women over 50 often experience is a journey of authentic self-expression, purpose, and legacy. It's a reckoning of sorts, a deep yearning for fulfillment and a need to listen to the internal whispers that are growing louder and more persistent as time refuses to stand still: "Is this all there is?" There is a knowing, an undeniable force that says, "there must be more to life". As Glennon Doyle says in Untamed, "Isn't life supposed to be more beautiful than this?" Midlife is a time when existential questions naturally emerge, especially at 50 and beyond. One common gap between who and where we are now is that many of us don't know what we want, who we are outside of our roles, or how to begin to find out. This is particularly true for women due to cultural norms and societal conditioning that have led us to an overidentify with our roles and an erosion of self. The authentic no-ego self is the foundation for personal transformation, so this is where it all begins. There are some powerful tools to help us discover (or recover) our most authentic self: Creativity is essential. Without creativity, our deepest form of authentic self-expression remains just out of reach. “ Valeria interviews Susan Young — She is the Founder Triple Moon Coaching  is a passionate advocate for women over 50, specializing in helping them navigate their soul-led journeys with confidence and purpose. What is your story? If you're a business owner that doesn't know your story, we're going to expose all the ways you're missing warm leads to grow your business and opportunities for people to connect and feel more invested with you.   My guest today, Susan Young, is a former on-air news anchor that helps entrepreneurs learn how to share their story, get more clients, more visibility and make more impact. This episode is about to open your mind to all new business opportunities that begin with you being your own lead magnet.  A golden story nugget from Susan is that the key to connecting the dots is, “The right words in the right order at the right time for the right people.”   As an award-winning speaker and coach, Susan has built a 6-figure business from speaking and helping others boldly tell their story. One of her strongest reminders for those of us brave enough to consider sharing our stories, is that self-belief is a must. When you get on stage to share your story, or create a post for your Instagram account, you have to believe in yourself and in your own story in order for anyone else to believe it also.  Key points Susan shares to use your voice as the lead magnet:  What should you say to capture people's attention  There is a big difference between your bio and an introduction  How to identify and incorporate what she refers to as defining moments  Outlets to consider for sharing your story and getting speaking engagements  How to craft your story to serve as a lead magnet    Susan is very encouraging about knowing your story and trusting and believing in yourself. When you come into new spaces to speak, remember your story to make people curious. Learning how to pitch yourself takes time and practice. Don't allow your inner critic to hold you back with the imposter story.  “We've got to get the imposter syndrome story silenced.” -Susan Young  Connect with Sue Young:  Website: https://www.sueyoungmedia.com/   Learn more about your ad choices. She reminisces about coming down to London aged 18 to become a Bunny Girl at the original Playboy Club in the 70s, meeting her first Iranian boyfriend and embarking on a career in the antiques and jewellery business. We cover her whole life in food; how she was taught to make Iranian food, where her ethos comes from when thinking about cooking and making delicious meals. We reminisce about the best dishes of my childhood, her gourmet packed lunches and what makes a great home cook.I love my mum so much, and she really is the foundation to my knowledge of food, taste, flavour and cooking. Our theme these two months is Courageous Conversations. It's Big! And sometimes uncomfortable. To get a return on our investment, we must invest in our authenticity and vulnerability. We will have to be perfectly imperfect and receive, in love, information about issues that may be uncomfortable to think about, deal with, anticipate, and forgive. We will contemplate, evaluate, learn about, be surprised by, and celebrate. We discovered during previous shows that the ability to have a courageous conversation is often a process, a journey, not an event. It does not always just happen when it logically should; sometimes, one must grow into it. And sometimes courageous conversations happen in and stay in our heads or our hearts. Sometimes our courageous conversations are dressed in silence. We all have times or seasons when it requires courage to make it from one moment to the next, take the next step, or say the next word. And sometimes, we let fear, shame, and guilt demonize our potential to overcome. But for now, we are pausing in a place where we can be mirrors for one another; our goal is to understand better topics that don't make it into polite conversations or the dinner table. We will look beyond and behind terms like human trafficking, domestic violence, child abuse, opioid poisoning, homelessness, and developmental and intellectual disabilities into their potential causes, effects, victims, stakeholders, and necessary courageous conversations. Join my guest, Ms. Susan Young, mother of a trafficking survivor, as she courageously shares a kaleidoscope of related emotions, lessons that had to be learned, myths that had to be busted, and her growing commitment to join the army to prevent human trafficking. Be inspired.

In the first of two programmes all about beans, Sheila Dillon asks if they could be the answer to our issues with health and global warming. We're often told how eating less meat is crucial for a healthy lifestyle and a healthy planet. In response, supermarkets and food outlets have been adding more meat-free options, and whole plant-based product ranges, which are often highly processed. So what if there was another food that we could all do with eating a lot more of, that's relatively affordable, is healthy and can be good for soil health and the environment? For hundreds of years beans have had a reputation in the UK of being food for the poor, vegetarians, or as filler for stews and curries. Mainly sold pre-cooked in cans, the ranges have been growing in recent years, but by far the biggest seller are Baked Beans. Someone who wants to change that is entrepreneur Amelia Christie-Miller, the founder of a new brand called Bold Bean Co. Sheila finds out why Amelia's beans that come in glass jars, taste so different from the ones she is used to eating from cans. The beans are imported from Spain, where they are a much bigger part of the culture. The owner of Spanish restaurant chain Bar44, Owen Morgan demonstrates how to make them the main event; Dietitian and nutritionist Dr Megan Rossi from Kings College London explains how the can also improve our gut health; and Dr Pete Iannetta from the James Hutton Institute, and writer and grower Susan Young (author of "Growing Beans: A Diet for Healthy People and Planet") say we should all be considering growing more beans in order to reap the benefits for our soils and health. This week, I'm talking to Susan Young, author of the book ‘Growing Beans'. As I've looked further into having a sustainable diet, into growing and storing crops and into sources of plant protein, beans just seemed to tick every box, but I needed to know more. So Susan's book ‘Growing Beans' is exactly what I've been looking for, because it covers growing, harvesting and storing beans and it argues a very convincing case for a fact that many people the world over have known for centuries; that beans are good not only for you but for the planet, because they're such a resilient, easy to grow, low carbon footprint crop. Dr Ian Bedford's Bug of the Week: Tobacco whitefly What we cover What makes beans such a good crop to grow, in terms of their eco credentials?  The beans we commonly grow here in the UK Beans to grow for their green pods, as fresh green beans, half dried and drying Bean nutritional needs Overwintering tubers of runner bean plants Drying beans in a UK climate Bean toxicity Storing different types of beans Easy beans to grow Beans for taste and aesthetics Preparing and cooking beans About ‘Growing Beans: a diet for healthy people and planet' by Susan Young Susan's new book brings together 10 years of experimentation with multiple varieties of beans. She clearly explains how to sow, grow, harvest, dry, store and cook them, and shares her six ‘must grow' varieties.  Beans are easy to grow and cook, help build healthy soil in the garden, and also provide a nutrient-rich diet, helping to reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer – they are good sources of protein, fibre, folate, iron and potassium. Plus, they can reduce your carbon footprint and food miles as well! Dollar-for-dollar, human trafficking in America is far worse than it is overseas. It is a market that is growing exponentially, putting $975 million in the pockets of human traffickers every year. Every 2.5 hours, a child is taken by human traffickers. Seven years is the average lifespan of a child victim once taken. Ninety-six percent of trafficking victims are female. Every trafficked child is purchased for sex 5.4 times a day. Human traffickers use any tool available to them to connect with potential victims. Contrary to popular belief, these predators rarely kidnap victims but rather employ psychological manipulation to get what they want, such as social media, video gaming consoles, and chat rooms. The traffickers often search for specific characteristics that make a victim the most vulnerable. This includes emotional neediness, low self-confidence, and economic stress. While looking for their role in a victim's life, traffickers work to obtain the trust from the victim through casual conversations over weeks and sometimes over months. Traffickers also send their current victims to interact with potential victims to gain trust. These girls essentially act as scouts for the trafficker. The traffickers utilize the information they gathered to fill a role in the victim's life. Through gifts, love, friendship, drugs, or alcohol, traffickers force the victims into a dependent relationship. With their new role in the victim's life, traffickers wedge themselves between the victim and those closest to them--their friends and family. This week's story is a courageous conversation with the mother of a human trafficking victim who was blessed to retrieve her daughter from today's current slave trade. Click below and learn things.
