Esta pregunta está asociada indirectamente a una cuestión que ha sido objeto de muchos estudios y discusiones ¿Cómo llegamos a ser quienes somos hoy? Frente a esta pregunta se han dado ene mil explicaciones. En este espacio no podemos tratar todas las posiciones, pero hay dos que han dominado la discusión a este lado del mundo. Una que explica el origen de la vida a partir de la intervención de un ser superior, al que el pensamiento judeocristiano, del cual hacemos parte muchos de nosotros, llamamos Dios. Y otra que explica el origen de la vida a partir del azar. En resumen, podríamos decir, con poca rigurosidad académica que estas dos visiones son las que han dominado la explicación del origen de la vida con sus diferentes matices al interior de cada posición.Estas posiciones tienen sus puntos a favor que las hacen muy creíbles. Por ejemplo, en el caso del creacionismo bíblico juega a favor el “diseño inteligente” ya que las probabilidades de que un sistema tan complejo como lo es una ameba se hubiera podido formar a través del ensayo error, prácticamente es imposible esta idea desde el punto de vista matemático, las probabilidades son casi nulas si no hubiere mediado un “diseñador”. Y qué decir del caso del equilibro, una de las funciones más básicas del oído humano, no funcionaría si la gravedad no tuviera la medida que tiene, si fuera un metro/segundo más o menos no podríamos caminar erguidos, andaríamos dando tumbos. A favor del azar están las preguntas que el creacionismo no ha podido resolver con toda claridad, como por ejemplo la tendencia del universo a autodestruirse (Agujeros negros y la materia oscura) y la existencia de algunas especies como los dinosaurios y los “homus”.En resumen, ambas visiones del mundo tienen sus puntos a favor y en contra, así que al no tener una certeza 100% segura de quien tiene la razón entra un tercer elemento que ha sido objeto de todo tipo de especulaciones y expresiones: la fe. De nuestra parte nos inclinamos a creer que somos el resultado del “diseño inteligente”, del Dios Creador que se menciona en el libro de Génesis. Aquí muchos podrán decir que somos unos tarados como muchos de los cristianos radicales que hoy abundan por ahí, que han llegado a decir que la tierra es plana o que las vacunas son nocivas para la salud haciendo caso omiso ante tanta evidencia cientifica.Ahora, ¿porque hacer esta claridad? ¿qué relación tiene con la pregunta inicial? Bueno, para tratar de responder esta inquietud debemos sentar una posición respecto al origen de la vida. Nosotros creemos que Dios creo nuestro sistema solar en siete días, en el primer día creo la luz y separo la luz de las tinieblas; a la luz llamó día y a las tinieblas noche (Génesis 1:3-5). El segundo día separó las aguas de la expansión de los cielos; a la expansión llamo cielos (Génesis 1:6-8). El tercer día junto las aguas que separo de la expansión y descubrió lo seco; a las aguas llamó mares y a lo seco llamó tierra; además en la tierra Dios ordenó que se produjera toda la vegetación en todas sus formas (Génesis 1:9-13); El cuarto día creo las estrellas, la luna para la noche y el sol para el día; a la luna la puso para contar los meses y el sol para contar los años (Génesis 1:14-19). El quinto día llenó los mares de todos los seres vivos que lo habitan y todas las aves que adornan el cielo (Génesis 1:20-23). El sexto día creo todos los animales que habitan la tierra y al finalizar creo al hombre y a la mujer a su imagen y semejanza, poniéndolos como mayordomos de toda la creación (Génesis 1:24-31).El libro del Génesis, capítulos 3 – 9, cuenta que este “orden perfecto” fue alterado y la muerte entro a dominar un espacio que había sido creado exclusivamente para la vida. Así que después de la gran devastación generada por el diluvio universal solo una familia sobrevivió, la de Noé. Seguidamente en el capítulo 10 de Génesis se nos relata como la tierra se repobló y nos cuenta de las genealogías de Noé y como sus hijos fueron esparciéndose por toda la tierra. En el capítulo 11 de Génesis se nos narra que para ese entonces toda la humanidad tenía una sola lengua y que las personas se habían concentrado alrededor de una gran ciudad llamada Babel. Allí los hombres se rebelaron contra Dios y para evitar otro destrucción total construyeron una torre y cuando estaban a punto de cumplir su cometido fueron dispersados por la tierra a raíz de la confusión generada por la aparición de nuevas lenguas que impidió que continuaran con su plan de construir una gran torre.Así que a la luz del libro de Génesis tenemos un origen de los diferentes pueblos que habitan la tierra. La historia y hallazgos arqueológicos nos revelan que la ciudad más antigua de la que tengamos conocimiento estuvo ubicada en la región de Mesopotamia (actual Irak) y que allí nacieron prácticamente todas las lenguas modernas. Y es en esa región donde el relato bíblico ubica a Babel. Entonces al principio todos los seres humanos sabían que provenían de un Dios, sin embargo, con el pasar de los años, tal como se expresa el libro Génesis en el capítulo 12 la humanidad decidió buscar otros dioses a los cuales adorar en rebelión al Dios creador. El relato de la torre de Babel explica entonces porque existen tantas religiones y porque cada cultura decidió construir un relato del “origen de la vida”, la explicación bíblica es que al ser dispersados por la faz de la tierra los pueblos fueron alejados los unos de los otros por la barrera idiomática y en ese contexto cada pueblo para afirmar su identidad creó relatos basados en la Creación original para explicar el origen de la vida. Y esta división de los pueblos se dio entonces principalmente porque después del diluvio los seres humanos se agruparon en rebelión a Dios, construyeron una ciudad aun cuando Dios les había ordenado que se esparcieran por la tierra y decidieron levantar una torre que los llevará hasta el cielo, porque el evento del diluvio estaba presente en sus recuerdos recientes y deseaban evitar que su rebelión los llevará a la aniquilación total del mundo a través de un nuevo diluvio universal. De esta forma estaban desconociendo la promesa de Dios de no volver a destruir la tierra por medio de un diluvio.¿Porque Dios permitió entonces esta situación? ¿Por qué si su plan es la salvación del mundo permitió que se dividieran de esta forma? Bien, cuatro mil años después de los sucesos narrados en el libro de Génesis el libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, Lucas nos narra que Pablo fue a Atenas (Hechos 17:16-34) y encontró una ciudad promedio de su época, una ciudad llena de altares a infinidad de dioses. Y allí encontró un altar al dios no conocido. Y tuvo oportunidad de darles a conocer a los atenienses al Dios que aún no conocían. En una parte de su sermón Pablo dijo: “Siendo, pues, linaje de Dios, no debemos pensar que la Divinidad sea semejante a oro, o plata, o piedra, escultura de arte y de imaginación de hombres. Pero Dios, habiendo pasado por alto los tiempos de esta ignorancia, ahora manda a todos los hombres en todo lugar, que se arrepientan” (Hechos 17:29 y 30). Y es esta parte del sermón de Pablo la que nos ayuda a clarificar por qué Dios permitió que prosperarán tantas religiones que son tan diversas, si solo existe un Dios verdadero. Bueno, Pablo dice palabras más palabras menos que Dios permitió esta situación por misericordia hacia la humanidad. La humanidad se revelo al poco tiempo de ser creada (Génesis 3), Dios les dio una oportunidad, pero continuaron en su rebelión y la profundizaron (Génesis 6), después del diluvio les dio otra oportunidad (Génesis 9). Pero como pueden leer en Génesis 11 la humanidad decidió continuar rechazando el amor de Dios. Sin embargo, Pablo dice que “Dios paso por alto los tiempos de esta ignorancia” y nos dice que en Jesús los hombres podemos recuperar ese lugar edénico de Génesis 1. Pablo nos dice que Dios nos ofrece otra oportunidad, ¡UNA MAS! Nuestro Dios no se cansa de darnos oportunidades. Como dice el apóstol Pedro “El Señor no retarda su promesa, según algunos la tienen por tardanza, sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos procedan al arrepentimiento” (2 de Pedro 3:9).Así que la pelota está ahora en nuestro campo ¿Qué decisión vamos a tomar? ¿Seremos como la mayoría de los seres humanos que han dedicado sus vidas a rechazar la única esperanza de una vida llena de paz y seguridad y de esta forma arruinar su existencia? O aceptaremos la invitación que nos hace Juan: “He aquí, yo estoy a la puerta y llamo; si alguno oye mi voz y abre la puerta, entraré a él, y cenaré con él, y él conmigo” (Apocalipsis 3:20). Esta es la invitación que nos hace Jesús hoy. Si, el mundo está dividido hasta no más poder, por asuntos religiosos, políticos, étnicos y otras tantas comas más. Sin embargo, Jesús nos hace una invitación: Nos pide, casi que suplica que le aceptemos como nuestro Creador y Salvador. Quiere ofrecernos una vida llena de paz y seguridad que nadie más puede ofrecernos. Esta afirmación es binaria: Si o No. Pero a pesar de lo trascendental y fuerte que es esta decisión, una cosa es cierta para quienes hemos decido aceptar esta invitación: a pesar de que el mundo es un completo caos, podemos tener paz y seguridad, nosotros lo vivimos y damos gracias a Dios por su misericordia. Ahora la pregunta es para usted que nos escucha: ¿Aceptas esta invitación que te hace Jesús hoy?

Trumpeter Kenny Dorham had to live with the term "underrated" for most of his life but he was anything but. Now considered one of the leading lights of Modern jazz trumpet along with Miles, Dizzy, Fats and Brownie......"K.D's" place in Jazz is now assured. This date has just been discovered and it's a fine broadcast recording from the morning of January 15,1963 and it marks the first documented evidence of a great musical partnership between Dorham and the young Joe Henderson, one of the great masters of the tenor saxophone. They went on to record many great classic Blue Note dates under the leadership of one or the other. Dorham and Henderson are aided by a fine rhythm section with the reliable Ronnie Mathews on piano and Steve Davis on bass and J.C.(John Curtis)Moses on drums. The tunes are mostly standards but Dorham's great tune "Una Mas" (aka "My Injun From Brazil")is heard in an early version.The MC is Alan Grant who was a good friend of Jazz. The set has inspired playing throughout and shows all at their best. Kenny Dorham and Joe Henderson!
