Who is Rich and Clear A skin care company focused on the African American community as its main target market. They have affordable skin care products that actually work. Before Klout brought them on board, the owner, Ernest, had built up a following of more than 500K followers on Instagram. The business was successful and sustainable, without having run a single ad. Why paid ads? Earnest was looking to take his business to the next level with paid ads. This is an ideal situation for Klout (and any marketing company). When a business is already established and successful organically, using paid ads is like pouring gas on an already serious fire. How did we get started? One of the issues about starting with a client like this, however, is a potential lack of data. In the case of Rich and Clear, there was data from Instagram in terms of followers, likes, etc. but nothing from ads on Facebook or Google. However, the company had a ton of data from Shopify that we were able to tap into to build out our first ad sets. Is email dead? We've said this a number of times on the show, but it's worth repeating. Email data is absolute gold. Still. Not only for email marketing (we get to that in a bit), but also for building out campaigns, audiences, and more. As Rony Hay says, "Email is print money." We ALWAYS recommend building an email list as soon as you start your business. Even a small number (e.g. less than 100) can be powerful data for marketing. Google vs. Facebook Ecosystems You want to make sure the company is represented on both major ecosystems for brand legitimacy. People will search for your brand after seeing your ads, or your products. You need to be present in both Google search and Facebook to build trust. The second reason is to be able to retarget ads across both system. Key problems with Rich and Clear before Klout The company had a very common problem that we see when we bring a client on board: the Facebook Business Manager was suspended and we had to spend a considerable amount of time cleaning up the account before we could kick off our campaigns. The company's facebook page was also suspended, further complicating things. The Klout Solution Because Facebook was essentially dead when Rich and Clear came on board, we focused on Instagram campaigns to build up the account initially. After we cleared and re-opened Facebook, we launched campaigns there as well. In addition, we built out email campaigns and automations to take advantage of all the massive amount of data Earnest already had in order to start increasing customer lifetime value. A huge issue with this was that all emails were going to spam for past customers. So we very carefully rebuilt the list responsiveness by using text-only emails initially and then slowly re-introducing images and other CTAs. Critical Learning If you have an email open rate that is less than 10%, you have trained your list to believe that you're always promoting and as such, your emails have a very limited perceived value. You should take action immediately to change this. In order to do this, you should produce community relevant content that does NOT promote. SMS Marketing There is a future opportunity to build out SMS marketing for Rich and Clear. We're not there yet (because we build out one thing at a time). However, SMS is a great different channel to use because of the high engagement rate. If you can get people's phone numbers they are gold for future marketing. Ninety day results with Klout The business was averaging about $100K in revenue when we brought them on board. While we actually started somewhat conservative in our campaigns, 90 days into the client relationship, the company is now breaking $200K per month. Email revenue has gone from 1-2% to 19-20% of monthly top line.

I have to thank my brother-in-law Brent Scott for this episode. He introduced me to this week's guest, Glenda Curving. She was a joy to chat with and I hope to meet her out at Tellico sometime soon! This is what Brent wrote of Glenda: Four years ago I took my son to the Tellico River for the first time. We pulled up to a campsite and ask a nice lady if the spot next to her was open. That was one of the luckiest things that's happened to us. She said it was and helped us get set up. That lady was Glenda Curving. Over that weekend we became fast friends with Glenda and Gary. We ended up transferring our gear over to their campsite and staying with them. We've been up there since many times. We ALWAYS coordinate when Glenda and Gary can be there. We've come to know some of her family and they are just as sweet as she is. Glenda has become a grandmother like role model to my boys. She loves them like they are hers. She cooks for us and dotes over them the entire time we are up there. Glenda grew up in East Tennessee. She has always been a true outdoors person. She can hunt and fish as good as anyone I've known. She has taught my boys and me so much. We spent last weekend with them and had an amazing time. We saw bald eagles, a blue herring, lots of fish and countless bugs and critters. She kept the boys safe while I got to go up in the mountain on trail runs and mountain biking. Can't wait til the next time we can go. Thank you so much for everything Glenda Curving. See u soon!! Date night is a fun idea for a client event, and it's super easy to implement, too! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Wolek Group is hosting a Date Night event on Thursday, February 13. We’re offering take-and-bake pizzas and either a six-pack of beer or a bottle of wine to all those who RSVP for the event. I bring this up because date night is a fun and easy way to reach out to and connect with the people in your database. You can get all sorts of touches from this kind of event, like promotion through video, or partnership with a nonprofit to help promote their organization. The whole week leading up to this year’s Date Night event, we’re also doing a reverse BOLD 100, where clients call in to register to win a giveaway. Bear in mind that these giveaways have to be big enough to entice people to call in. “You can get all sorts of database touches from this kind of event.” When those interested in the giveaway do call in, we take that time to confirm their contact information and ask them if they know of anyone interested in buying, selling, or investing in real estate that we can contact; that way, we get a double entry. We ALWAYS provide an Eventbrite link for them to RSVP for the giveaway, which we cap in numbers. For example, on our upcoming Valentine’s Day Date Night event, we have 100 pizzas that clients need to RSVP for in advance. Set up a call day a couple of days before the event to confirm the client’s RSVP and ensure they’re going to stop by for pick-up—people often forget to do that, so calling them ahead of time will help you adjust your numbers to avoid having extras. Be sure to partner with a vendor who can help you offset some of the costs, too. There are tons of ways to touch your database, but date night is simple and fun. CROSSROADS: My Search for Truth Through Music and a Lot of Red Wine

Today I wanna talk to you guys about HOW you follow up with the leads and the people that are actually interested in either your downline or purchasing your product. We're gonna talk about FOLLOW-UP. This is something I've talked about quite a bit in other places that I publish… But the follow-up is EVERYTHING. Whenever I'm at an event, this is one of the BIGGEST questions I get asked. This is one of those repeat questions that I hear. About three days ago, I was at an event doing some spot coaching with people who were workshopping when somebody said this question… "Steven, how many times should I be emailing? Is there a certain amount of follow-up I should be doing? Is there such a thing as too much follow-up?" My response was, "When I am creating a follow-up sequence, I want them to opt-out of me because I am being too aggressive in their eyes." Do you know what I mean? That has hardly ever happened… I have never had anybody reach out to me and say, "Enough already." We've sent over 2 MILLION emails in the last three or four years… I made a mistake ONE TIME in sending the same email to someone five times… Quite rightly he reached out and said, "ENOUGH!" #mybad That was only one time out of two million emails. In a typical month, I send 200,000 emails on one email account Another 200,000 on a second email account … I send a lot of emails, alright? MY FOLLOW-UP PROCESS When I was a door-to-door salesman, one of the biggest things I was taught was FOLLOW-UP. They trained us really, really well on: What you'll find What you'll learn DID YOU KNOW: Most people don't even follow up once!? 47%-48% of people will follow up ONE time TYPICALLY, you need to follow-up 5-8 times before somebody says, “Yes”. Some people have said to me, "You’re following-up five times because you're being aggressive and people finally give in" No, no, no, it's not that at all. One of the guys I like to follow online is Frank Kern. (You've likely heard of his name.) I saw Frank Kern online recently, and what he did this... He was sitting at a coffee table with a big bowl of mints. He took out a small handful of mints and said, "Let's say this represents the people that are ready to buy from you right NOW." Then he took a BIG amount of mints and he put it in a pile next to the small pile and said, “ This represents the people that will buy from you in the next 60-90 days." And then he grabbed the rest of them and dumped them in this massive pile. He said, "These are the ones that are in the far distant future. It's not that you can't sell those that are ready to buy right NOW, but you need to focus on the 60-90 day group. It's a much LARGER category and you're gonna get a lot more sales for it. If you just focus on the people who want to buy NOW, the issue is that a lot of people are not ready to buy. It's not that they won't, it's that it takes a few rounds and a few pieces of follow-up." TWO WAYS TO FOLLOW-UP There are two ways to follow up: An annoying way to follow up A very value-based way to follow up When you follow up with VALUE, it's a lot easier for people to say YES. You're not annoying and people are actually looking forward to the interaction with you. First of all, I want to walk you through a few stats - A case study of how we’re doing this and what it’s meant for us. I read an article recently that said, “You should only STOP following up in a few scenarios… They die They buy They send you a cease and desist letter." … The whole point and premise of this is, I want you to know that the follow-up is truly where the money comes in. IN FACT, I know a lot of people that are the exact same way. We make money from every dollar we collect on the front… But what we’re really waiting for is the backend. The BACKEND is where we'll pull another $5, $6, $7, $8, $9, $10 per dollar that we bring in in the front. MY FOLLOW-UP STATS I want to share with you, the most recent month's stats. If you're not on YouTube, that's okay, I'm gonna talk through the numbers here. These are still warm, okay? I screenshotted and printed stats from two MLM funnels that I have. And I wanna share the stats with you so you can see how we're doing it and why this matters so much when it comes to the follow-up. I’m going to be talking about stats from The MLM Funnel - If you go look at themlmfunnel.com, that’s where these stats are coming from. In the last month, the last 30 days, we sold 520 books. Go to themlmfunnel.com and look at the book that it's promoting… We've sold 520 of those in the last MONTH. It has generated, including upsells and stuff like that, $2484. Now, you might look at that and be like, "Oh, that's awesome." BUT I'm running an actual business with actual business expenses. That's not that amazing. If we just stopped there at $2,400, that's gonna be a MAJOR issue. ONE thing that we now that they're on our list is FOLLOW UP with them. There are a few ways that we follow up… Facebook ads Email campaigns When you get my emails, there's a footer at the bottom that says, "Hey, where should you get started?" And it shows you the different places you can go to and the different products that I offer. There's significant cash that comes from that. THE EASIEST WAY TO FOLLOW-UP It's one of the EASIEST ways for you to make money on the follow-up. Here are the actual stats from The MLM Funnel. Let me walk through them real fast here: 3,000 people hit the first page 950 actually opted in From the 950 that opted in, we sold 520 books … It's not bad. A little over half of the people who opt in are buying the book which is not bad at all. That's actually REALLY good. Now check this out… We ALWAYS have a follow-up sequence after someone opts-in. Quite a lot of people go to the first and second training and it kinda neat to see is how many people are watching each of the FREE trainings that keep pushing them back to the buy. I know that there's a correlation between how many people are watching the follow-up sequence and those who go purchase the book. Follow-up is what has saved this funnel. We only made $2400, which is not tons of cash. SIDE NOTE: If it feels like a lot of cash, I beg you to re-evaluate your relationship with cash… Because that's not that much money. If it feels like a lot of money, it's gonna be very hard for you to make that amount of money. I had somebody tell me once, "If a million dollars feels like a lot of cash, you're gonna have a hard time making a million dollars." And I was like, "Oh." It wasn't until I started changing some of those beliefs that a million dollars came a lot faster. FOLLOWING UP WITH YOUR LEADS Please stick with me because I'm gonna go full circle on this and give you some cool answers on how much we should follow up with people. The Secret MLM Hacks is a webinar that sells the program Secret MLM Hacks. In the last 30 days, it has made $58,000. We've sold 51 Secret MLM Hacks, and it's a $997 course. AND we've sold 133 of these chatbot programs… Which is awesome stuff. 133 of these chatbot programs generated an additional $7500. In total, it made $58,000. What's crazy about this is, if you look at The MLM Funnel (go to themlmfunnel.com), once they're on the list, I'm delivering A LOT of value to them for FREE. Stuff that’s sooo valuable they should be paying for it. It's under that premise I’m contributing to the relationship where I am allowed to follow-up with them and they don't get mad about it. That relationship causes a feeling of reciprocity because I'm giving them FREE stuff and answers that are so good they, should be paying for it. Then what I go do is follow up through stuff in the email footers and an email sequence. We're retargeting them with Facebook ads. Our sales have definitely gone up in the last month. I know A LOT of it is because we're spending more on ads. But it’s also because we’re following up with people. THE REALITY OF FOLLOWING UP I've been looking back at some of the affiliate things that I promote… I've set up so many systems now that we'll do $30,000 to $40,000 to $50,000 a month in affiliate cash. That's usually the norm - $30,000 to $40,000 a month in affiliate cash. If I did not follow up with a lot of these people and if we did not turn back and run ads to those look-alike lists… It would stop there. $30,000 to $50,000 a month is pretty awesome… But we usually do around $150,000 to $200,000. I KNOW that a lot of it is because of the follow-up. Back to Frank Kern… I was watching him say, "Hey guys, here's real-life today. I made $11,000 on the front… But if I had not followed up, I wouldn't have made the other $60,000 that we made today." That's the reality. Here's the point I’m trying to make… Just because somebody buys your MLM product doesn't mean they're NOT ready to buy ANOTHER MLM product faster than the autoship ships. Go reach back out to them. If they bought a product and they're saying, "Hey, thanks for buying the product," reach back out and say, "Hey, if you like that, other people also like this. Do you want it?" They've already said YES once. The second YES is always easier than the first yes. MAKING YOUR OWN FOLLOW-UP PROCESS Make a follow-up process and start testing it. Don't just do it willy-nilly. Sit back and say, "Okay, when somebody buys my MLM's product from me… I'm gonna reach out to him and ask about this. I'll give them some value. I'll reach back out and hit him with this again and ask him if they wanna buy." Then go test it. Even if you do it badly, simply by asking, you're gonna make more money. Most MLMers don't have any kind of follow-up process for their products or once somebody joins their downline. There's just not a lot of follow-up process to help you get the next sale. To answer the question, “How much is too much follow-up”... Stop when they either: Die Buy Send you a cease and desist … That's the joke. But in all reality… You can email or send a Facebook message every day. You should be doing SOMETHING on Facebook or somewhere on social media EVERY DAY. You gotta talk and you've gotta make noise. You gotta be loud about this stuff. It's not JUST gonna happen. It's very hard. Quite literally, for every $1 we make on the front, we male $4 - $7 on the backend BECAUSE we follow-up! And that number's about to go waaay up. I'm very excited about that because we've got more stuff that we're dropping out there. I want you to start getting your brain turning on how you can follow-up. You may not even have a follow-up sequence! I have a follow-up sequence for when someone: Buys my product Joins my downline Make an actual process and start testing it so you can make those adjustments and improvements. It's significantly easier to get that second YES and for more money as well. FOLLOWING UP IN MLM Just because it's an MLM doesn’t make it different from a normal business. Follow up with buyers and resell them something else. Depending on the price point, I will immediately follow up with two other things after someone buys. For anything that’s lower than $200, I'm gonna offer them five separate products in a row: The first thing Two other things A downsell A bump … And you can do it WITHOUT being annoying. You can do it while adding VALUE. That's how I run it. #justfollow-up If you DON’T have a sequence, go make one. Don't do it willy-nilly - I just want you to be able to track the results from it. There were some serious milestones this week in the mainstream news and local news where we broadcast here in Washington, DC! Rap star Drake has just made history on the charts, by shattering a record set by the Beatles and surpassing one set by Michael Jackson too. You have to check out the details and what the crew had to say about this one, congrats Drizzy...another one! Additionally, rap sensation, Cardi B album "Invasion of Privacy" reached Platinum status. The RIAA's mid-year report listed Invasion of Privacy by Cardi B as one of the seven albums to be certified Gold this year. Well, the self-described "King Of New York" officially passed the 1 million units mark just days later. It's been a big year for Cardi B. She also earned the distinction of being the only female rapper with two #1 singles on the Hot 100 chart ("Bodak Yellow" & "I Like It"). Congrats to Cardi for this and for the birth of her baby girl! Starbucks announced Monday that it will phase out plastic straws from all of its stores by 2020. The changes will help Starbucks (SBUX) eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. The new designs have drawn comparisons to an adult "sippy cup." Frappuccino drinks will still be served with dome lids, but with straws made from paper or compostable plastic. Coffee drinkers who prefer straws for other beverages can request the new eco-friendly versions. Starbucks will begin rolling out the new lids for all drinks this fall, starting with stores in Vancouver, Canada, and Seattle. You here for this one?? DC STAND UP! The Washington, DC landmark eatery Ben’s Chili Bowl will celebrate its 60th anniversary on August 22nd, and the D.C. Council is moving to rename the street in front of the restaurant. The Ben’s Chili Bowl Way Designation Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2018, introduced Thursday, would rename the 1200 block of U Street Northwest as Ben’s Chili Bowl Way. What are the problems with half-assing it? That's the topic the guys tackle today. Because keto is so buzzy, a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon. The only problem is they're just increasing their fat consumption without necessarily decreasing their carbs. This approach leads to the dangers of half-way keto. What is half-way keto and what does it look like? The better approach of using scale-outs to keep keto sustainable. The problems of more fat WITHOUT fewer carbs. We ALWAYS eat more than we think: the importance of tracking your macros. How carbs and glucose compete for the brain's attention. He's learning from the master! Chad's own self-experimentation. Feeding ourselves with fat is the genetic way to please our body and brain. Glycogen loves water storage! How exogenous ketones can exasperate the problems associated with half-way keto. Adjusting keto for your needs only works if you first know what you're eating. What it all comes down to is your body's constant balancing act and attempts to reach homeostasis. Doing the ketogenic nutrition plan in partial fashion can throw your body for some serious loops! On our first Worship Night, Carys, a worship leader from Life Church UK, spoke on “What is Worship?” Asking the congregation, suggestions of singing, connecting with God, and praising Jesus were given. The literal translation of the word “Worship” is “To honour, to adore, to exalt”. Some people worship sports teams, or musicians, or celebrities, etc – things that are important to them, but for us, the only thing we should be worshipping is Jesus. John 4:24 tells us that we should worship in spirit and in truth. Carys went on to explain that when our soul connects with God, this is us worshipping in spirit, and when we connect with the word of God, is when we worship Him in truth. We are told that every word in the scriptures is God breathed. David worshipped in the word of God. This is seen in the Psalms, where he writes passages that can only come from that intimate connection with God. Worship can touch the most deep and intimate parts of us; the places that only He can reignite in our heart and soul. It is born of a deep relationship with Him. Carys told us that worship should be a priority to us, and an essential part of our faith. We should worship because of who He is. Worship should NEVER be about us. If we're entering worship for what we can get out of it, then we're doing it wrong. It is ALL about God and bringing glory to Him. The truth is, that when we meet him in that most intimate place, God is so good that He allows us to get something out of it too. When our emotions align with our spirit, there will be times when we cry, smile, laugh, and even get on our knees. We can also find that some songs come to us at times in our life when we need them most. These are the times when they can affect us more, but this is God doing a work in us, as long as we are willing to let Him. We HAVE to remember that worship is not about us, and worship will only be good when we are Jesus centred; fully surrendered, and with our hearts completely open to Him. Carys spoke about the practice of worship in a church setting, and how when we come in to the service, it can take us a while to get fully connected, and by that time, worship is almost over. She suggested that we should prepare, and come to worship ready and expectant for things to happen so that we have prepared our hearts and are ready to align with the spirit in the very first song. We need to live with anticipation and come to the service with the expectancy that God is going to move. Another point raised was that of the leader of worship. Sometimes, we wait for the good parts of the song before we really begin to worship; the emotional parts of the song before we let go, but we don't have to wait. We are our own greatest worship leader. We have to lead ourselves into it. It has to be a conscious decision on our part. No one can do it for us, and in the end, we are the ones who dictate our own level of worship. We seem to wait for these moments, but we just need to look to Him and focus on Him. We can choose how deep we want to go and how much we want to give to God. We need to decide whether we want to be led by Him. In the end, we have to be the ones to make the decision to put ourselves down and to lift Him up, and we must make this decision whether life is good or bad. There will always be a reason for us not to give in and surrender to worship. Life gives us troubles and things that will get in our way. We just need to see that true worship is all about how good God is. He sent His Son. He gave us Grace. He is Faithful, and He is Always There; Always Rooting For Us. We ALWAYS have a reason to worship BECAUSE of Him and who He is. We must remember to not look at Jesus through our circumstances. The Bible says that we are engraved on the palms of His hands. He is THAT good! When we think about it like that, how can we not worship Him. We have to worship Him and how amazing He is, because without Him, we are truly lost. We must understand how to really worship and how we worship. This way, we can find our own place of worship. The truth is that God changes us when we learn to worship, and it is in this place that we can find the fullness of joy. Carys shared with us some pathways to worship. Firstly, we must practice going into the presence of God daily. We must align our day and remember that we are going to worship Him that day, regardless of what we have going on. We must train ourselves, and our hearts. It doesn't come naturally to everyone, and we must practice this, but when we do, our mind, heart, soul and spirit becomes aligned. Carys suggested some “easy wins” like listening to worship music while travelling, rather than just putting the radio on. If you can do this, you invite God into your heart and your day, and before you know it, you will feel better. Let how good God is be your motivation. Come to worship with a willingness to be led. Surrender to Him and let Him lead you. Come with an attitude of gratitude. There is always something to be thankful for, even if it is just our breath. We are called to bring a sacrifice of worship. We are called to cast our burdens on Him; to take everything and give it to Him. The truth is that you can't worry and worship at the same time. When you truly worship, you forget your problems. They all fizzle out in His presence, because it is in His presence that we can find the fullness of joy. In worship, our baggage just ceases to be. Going back to David, when he is writing in Psalms, he goes from one extreme to the other because he gets into the presence of God. He gets into a situation of extreme worship, which is something that we really need. We must surrender our lives. If we let our lives be worship, then we are constantly exalting God in everything we do, and we are allowing God to shape us, and then we will truly see how much joy is to be found in the presence of God. We recommend you keep taking notes for at least a week, that way you'll be able to understand more of the foods that are making you feel top notch and the foods making you feel blah. But that's not what today is about... however... it IS about connection. A different kind of connection. When we first started to implement this tool into our lives it totally flipped EVERYTHING. It not only helped with our lifestyle choices... but it continues to make positive changes to our relationships, mindset and the work we do. We know it's going to help you too. It's like magic... AND it's ridiculously simple. MODULE 4: CONNECT YOUR VALUES AND WA-LAH For any change to be long lasting you need to figure out your 'whys'. The reasons for the change and the things that will continue to motivate you to stick with it. Change is hard, yah? We humans like comfort. We like familiar and routine. BUT to create an epic, healthier, happier life change and flexibility is required. Because we can't keep doing the same things over and over again expecting a different result. Pretty sure Einstein said that and he is like super smart. What's the magic tool? We're about to show you. Making changes to create a healthier, happier life is going to cause a ripple effect in your life. It's not just going to make you feel better. It might give you more energy to play with your kids, think of better ideas for your business, experience more adventure... the list goes on. So here's the thing. What is your value connector? What do you value in your life? It might be family, career, physical ability, social life, intelligence... we all have MANY values, so today let's focus on finding your top 4. Once you find your top 4 life values, then you can make the connection to how being healthier and happier will positively impact that value. Woah. Right? Dr John Demartini is BIG on this and he says, to work out your values, answer these 12 simple questions: How do you fill your space? How do you spend your time? How do you spend your energy? How do you spend your money? Where are you most organised? Where are you most disciplined? What do you think about? What do you visualise? What do you talk to yourself about? What do you speak about with others? What do you react to? What are your goals? Once you've answered these questions, you'll see your values pop up. Here are some examples of how to recognise your values. If you fill your space with books, then you might value education OR creativity. If you spend your energy with your friends, then you might value socialising. If you are most organised at work, then you might value your career development. Let us know if you have any questions! Take note of the top 4 values you recognise. The values that have come up more than others. Download the Value Connectors sheet we sent in today's email, and write them in the first column of each box. Now for the interesting part. Write down how following Your Perfect Diet will positively impact your top 4 values. For example, one of Carla's values is: inspiration and new ideas. Feeling healthy and happy positively impacts this because it allows her to focus clearly and make quick, informed decisions on what new ideas would work in her life. For you, it might be socialising. How might being healthier and happier help you with that? Perhaps it means you are more present when you see your friends. Or you have more energy to see them after work. Or you feel more confident to go out! It could be anything. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Today, we answer that question and more, so you can get the best results when selling your home this spring! We ALWAYS recommend that you sell your home with an occupied appearance. Often, buyers feel they have leverage with you as a seller if your home has a vacant appearance. We think this is due, in large part, to the number of distressed sales we've had over the past 4-5 years. When someone goes into a vacant home, they automatically associate it with a distressed sale. It then has a psychological impact on the offer you end up getting. Every time we list someone's home, we pay for a staging consultation. While we understand it's not always an option, we highly recommend taking advantage of a professional stager if you have the option. On average, homes sell for between 6-8% more money when they are staged.
