Transparency International UK says inquiries legislation being proposed in Gibraltar now is almost 20 years old in the UK. The corruption watchdog is concerned it's intended to undermine the McGrail inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the early retirement of the former police commissioner. The Government says it has no intention to use the power to stop or delay the McGrail inquiry. It believes the proposed law would not affect the independence of the current inquiry, or obstruct its progress, or influence any witness. Our reporter Jonathan Sacramento has been speaking to the Chief Minister. The religious festival of Ramadan has begun. It is considered the most important time of year for the Muslim community. Locally, as around the world, it is marked with fasting and prayer. Deena Abboubi & Aya Chahid from the Muslim Youth of Gibraltar group spoke to us in the studio. Gibraltar's relationship with the European Union is still the subject of ongoing negotiations between Gibraltar, UK, Spain and EU officials. This week the Europe Minister Leo Docherty visited the Rock and said those negotiations would be intense this month. Jared Peralta, who is the Country Director in Gibraltar for The Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council, was here to discuss what role the Commonwealth could play in Gibraltar's future. And, budding entrepreneurs at St. Annes have tried their hand at starting their own businesses. Year Six pupils have spent four weeks researching and strategising with their teams on the best ways to get their ideas off the ground. With a budget of five pounds per pupil - provided by the Young Enterprise board - many of these 11 year-olds have ended up taking home profits, after selling their products and services at a business fair in the school. Shelina Assomul was at the school earlier today. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Submission guidelines can be found at http://www.TallTaleTV.com   ---- About Tall Tale TV ---- Hi there! My name is Chris Herron and I'm an audiobook narrator. In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. They helped me through the darkest period of my life and I fell in love with audiobooks. Once I regained my vision, I decided to pursue a career as an audiobook narrator instead of a writer. That's why I created Tall Tale TV, to support aspiring authors in the writing communities that I had grown to love before my ordeal. My goal was to help them promote their work by providing a promotional audio short story that showcases their writing skills to readers. They say the strongest form of advertising is word of mouth, so I offer a platform for readers to share these videos and help spread the word about these talented writers. Please consider sharing these stories with your friends and family to support these amazing authors. Welcome to Episode Two of YEAR SIX of The Academy of Esports podcast! I'm your host, James O'Hagan. Thank you for joining me as I welcome a good friend from across the sea, Stuart Dempsey, the Founder and CEO of GamerFest Dublin, Ireland's largest esports event. In the aftermath of Brexit, Ireland was elevated to the role of premier English-speaking nation in the European Union. The impact of this on esports opportunities is massive. To speak to this– and offer two decades of marketing and branding experience to our audience– is a longtime friend of The Academy of Esports, Stuart Dempsey. Since establishing GamerFest in 2017, Stuart's event has gone from strength to strength with 5,000 visitors expected for GamerFest Summer at the end of May and up to 10,000 visitors in the next 18 months. That isn't surprising when you consider what he brought to the table– a 20-year career in B2B and B2C marketing, a Master's Degree in Marketing Practices from Galway University, and a dance card of successful relationships with some of Ireland's biggest companies (recently expanded to include the Irish postal system!). Welcome to PART TWO of Episode One of YEAR SIX of The Academy of Esports podcast! I'm your host, James O'Hagan. Thank you for joining me as I welcome back my friend, Amir Satvat, the global head of startup operations at Amazon Web Services. Before stepping into their current role, Amir experience included chapters as a principal publishing producer and key positions in business development and strategy at Amazon Games. They also served as COO for AWS' Inside Sales and Demand Generation Businesses, while spending over a decade in tech and healthcare sectors, working on strategy, operations, and business development. Amir's academic achievements include an MBA and a Master's in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MPA in Public Policy from New York University. Their professional journey is a perfect example of one of Amir's career advice tenets: think laterally within a company to gain skills you need for your dream job. As a dedicated gamer, Amir has played over 2,200 titles, cherishing series like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Monkey Island, and The Witcher. Their love for gaming began with Asteroids on the Atari 2600. Their passion for the industry doesn't end there– Amir runs a thriving LinkedIn community of over 33,000 video game followers (and growing daily!), with many working in games. Amir also loves opera, having created his first at age 14. With that in mind, we invited a surprise guest– Josh Shaw, Founding Artistic Director and CEO of Pacific Opera Project– whose blend of video game characters and operas is selling out stages wherever it goes. Named as one of Musical America's Top 30 Innovators in Classical Music, Josh Shaw is the Founding Artistic Director and CEO of Pacific Opera Project (POP), which has been described as "L.A.'s most exciting new opera company." Over the past twelve seasons, Mr. Shaw has directed over 50 productions at POP, including The Rake's Progress, Ariadne auf Naxos, La Calisto, Tosca: A Moving Production; and La Boheme: AKA “The Hipsters”. A frequent librettist for English updates, his Star Trek-inspired Abduction from the Seraglio and Nintendo-inspired Magic Flute (AKA #SuperFlute) have gained national attention and have been produced at multiple companies, shattering attendance records. That's a big problem because magnesium is involved in more than 600 biochemical reactions in your body. Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show, we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. We are a few weeks away from the start of the 2022-23 football season, so it is time to switch gears from off-season talk to diving headfirst into real football content. What better way to start football season than ranking teams and picking games? In our season preview series, we rank the Big Ten into four tiers: Non-bowl tier, lower-bowl tier, New Year's Six Bowl tier, and Contenders tier. We also predict records and finishes for all 14 teams leading to 168 games picked. In this episode, Dante and Jordan talk about the three programs we believe have the best chance to make a New Year's Six Bowl game. Before we get into that we discuss the rumors and leaks surrounding the Big Ten's new media deal. While it has not been officially announced there is enough information worth discussing. In a move that is surprising to some the Big Ten's next media deal may not include ESPN. According to sources, the Big Ten is partnering with FOX, CBS, and NBC with exclusive windows at Noon, 3:30 pm, and 7:30 pm respectively. Jordan believes ESPN made a mistake they'll regret by going all in on the SEC and expecting the Big Ten to play second fiddle. Dante questions are fans care what channel the games come on and if there are starting to be too many options on where to watch games. After breaking down the media rights deal the guys get into their preview starting with Purdue. On a rare occurrence, Jordan and Dante both have Purdue at 9-3 with the same wins and losses. Aidan O'Connell enters the season with his draft stock on the rise, can he lead his team to a Big Ten West Championship? Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Spartans are looking to build off of last year but they were ahead of schedule, are they due a step back? How far can this team go without Kenneth Walker III? With their entire secondary returning can they improve after being the worst passing defense in the country last season? Michigan enters the season with high expectations and an enormous amount of turnover, After losing Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, and Dax Hill plus their offensive and defensive coordinator success will be an uphill battle. Any success starts with picking a quarterback and there is a major battle brewing between incumbent starter Cade McNamara and former five-star J.J. McCarthy. The guys get their pit stops out of the way early as Jordan tries to convince Dante to buy Madden 23 and Dante talks about the Pittsburgh Steelers' first preseason game. It was February 12, 2014, a hot summer evening, and eleven year old Luke Batty was at cricket practice on a sports oval in the Melbourne suburb of Tyabb. With blue eyes and dark blonde hair, Luke had just started Year Six. He was happy and empathetic, a best friend to his single mother Rosie.  Rosie was on one end of the cricket ground, and his father, Greg Anderson was at the other.  After speaking to his father, Luke ran back over to Rosie and said: “Oh mum, I haven’t seen dad for a while. He’s asked me if I can have a few extra minutes.” Rosie remembers thinking, “Aw that’s nice.” She had invited someone over for dinner, and Greg had coaxed Luke over to the cricket nets. Suddenly, the park stood still in response to a sound of anguish, unlike anything they’d ever heard.  Her former partner, in what felt like the blink of an eye, struck his son with a cricket bat before stabbing him to death.  In the hours following, Anderson resisted arrest and threatened paramedics with his knife. Police had no choice but to shoot. He died in hospital from both gunshots and self-inflicted stab wounds.  What happened to Luke is a story that haunts Australia more than seven years later. In response, his mother Rosie Batty has dedicated her life to campaigning for domestic violence reform and has fundamentally changed the conversation about family violence.    CREDITS Guest: Rosie Batty Host: Jessie Stephens Producer: Gia Moylan Audio Producer: Ian Camilleri   CONTACT US Tell us what you think of the show via email at truecrime@mamamia.com.au   Join our closed Facebook community to discuss this episode.
