Dallas tells the story that Leonte was the catalyst for him starting T. Dallas Smith & Company. Dallas states, “He was a sophomore at Morehouse who wanted to get into commercial real estate and he had no real estate license or real estate experience. I told him to call me when he gets his license. Two months later he shows up at my door with license in hand. “Mr. Smith I have my license.” I was trying to get rid of the kid. For two weeks, I had Leonte getting my laundry, getting my dog from the kennel, getting coffee, whatever. He did it all and always with a smile and a very humble spirit. My epiphany was that his eagerness to get into this business was the same as mine was when I pursued Mr. Tift and Cushman & Wakefield. I knew I had to help this guy and so T. Dallas Smith & Company was born.” It was his tenacity and persistence after that two week hazing period that has become his Modus Operandi.
