Councils are planning for the long term, so should the Government be doing the same? The Auditor-General's Office has compiled a report into 58 councils' long-term plans, and found they made a “significant achievement” meeting their requirements on time in uncertain circumstances. However, they found the Government lacks comparable planning requirements. Deputy Auditor-General Andrew McConnell told Mike Hosking they're raising the question of how much the central government understands about its future infrastructure costs. He says most government agencies have a form of infrastructure they're relying on, so they think that question needs some serious consideration. When I was asked if I'd like to talk to Michael Wilson, chef patron at Michelin Star fine dining Marguerite as well as Hortus in the Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome in Singapore I of course said yes. Then I got nervous. Michael trained in Melbourne under Guy Grossi and Andrew McConnell before heading to Shanghai where he earned his first Michelin Star, 5 months after opening Phenix in the Puli Hotel and Spa. Now he is executive chef and part of the group who owns the incredible Marguerite. But I needn't have worried. We had a lovely chat over Zoom. Michael is down to earth, super friendly and as we spoke his two dogs appeared on the screen before falling asleep beside him. Michael's menu at Marguerite is a seven plus course degustation filled with labour intensive but absolutely delicious flavours and creativity. Michael has some fresh and satisfying perspectives on food, cooking and the industry as a whole. I can't wait to go to Singapore, get the buggy through the flower dome to Marguerite and savour every mouthful.

The past 3 years have brought about significant changes in the way we view health and where we spend our money. The combination of “social distancing” and an increased awareness on illness prevention have led Americans to spend more on individual, isolated health products than ever before. For example, dietary supplement sales increased by a whopping 44% in the six weeks preceding April 5th, 2020, that's a massive jump! While supplements definitely have their place, we are losing the big picture of what it means to be “healthy” and isolating the different areas of our wellness. Today's guest has made it his mission to combat this trend and is encouraging people to think about all areas of their health span working together, instead of working in isolation. Hey everyone, it's Chuck, and I'm here to welcome you to the latest episode of Warriors Unmasked! While my partner Clint is out changing the world today, I got to chat with Andrew McConnell, the founder of rented.com and author of "Get Out of My Head - Creating Modern Clarity with Stoic Wisdom". This guy is seriously impressive - he graduated from Harvard College, Harvard Law School, and the University of Cambridge, won a Bronze Medal with Team USA's open water swim team, and has built a hugely successful company. And that's just the beginning!   Andrew shared some incredible insights with us during our chat, including the importance of being present in the moment while still knowing where you're headed. He grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and learned early on that the world is big, but life is short. He's all about empowering others and encouraging them to take control of their lives. It's pretty incredible to think that even though we come from different backgrounds and walks of life, we're all struggling with the same things at the end of the day. Those negative voices and self-doubt can hold us back and stop us from living our best lives. That's why in this conversation, we're getting real about our own journeys and how we're working on improving our overall well-being every single day. And the best part is, you can do it too! This episode is packed with heart, warmth, and inspiration. I know you're going to feel hope, awareness, and enlightenment after listening to Andrew's story. And if you're feeling a bit lost or unsure of where you're headed, this episode will leave you feeling incredibly empowered. It's the 6-year anniversary of the Bombshell Business Podcast this week! Here are six things I've learned from the past year of podcast that I want to share with you! #1: You make it totally worth making this podcast happen. My peers hear me talk about my audience and some of them have been inspired to start their own just because of the relationship they can build with listeners like you. They see how much I treasure you. Truly. #2: There are things out of my control and there are things within my control. I thought I knew this before, but I feel like in the past year I have learned the art of letting go. Want to experience more about growing through the hard stuff? Check out Pauline Nguyen's episode.  Personal Development Cannot Happen Without Personal Disruption with Pauline Nguyen (120) #3: Focus, focus, focus. (Simplify to amplify.) In business, having a core focus is imperative. With the world being so wonky right now it is harder than ever to find and keep that focus, but I've been trying! My episodes with Orsy Herbein and Chrisa Grasso are great episodes to listen to for that! The Secret to Making Marketing Work with Orsolya Herbein (123) How to “Lean Out” Your Business for Next Level Growth With Christa Grasso(116) #4: Trust the process. There are so many things going on in our businesses, lives and MINDS. To learn to trust and let go and not let others live rent free in your head, tune in to my episode with Andrew McConnell. Get Out of My Head with Andrew McConnell #5 Women REALLY need to be there for each other. Like really. We aren't there, yet. At the publishing of this episode, I'm so incredibly grateful for the professional women who have been there for me in this week, especially. My fantastic interview with Jane Finette will send shock waves through you and hopefully convince you to make #womensupportingwomen a priority. Gender Equity and Empowering Women with Jane Finette (124) #6: Believe in your calling. You were given unique gifts and talents that you can use in service to other people, which will bring you JOY. The first step in this process is to develop self awareness. So to go deeper in your studies at “You University,” listen to my episode on the short cuts you can take with personality assessments: My Top 4 Personality Assessment for Self-Awareness: Two are FREE! (111) Happy 6-Year Anniversary to the Bombshell Business Podcast This has been quite a year for us all! I'm ever grateful to have this platform to learn and to share, to connect and to connect my guests to you. I love the emails you send and the ways you engage with our guests. While I have to eat my own cookies when I struggle in the same areas, I'm even more motivated to eat those cookies because I know I have the opportunity to set an example while being open and vulnerable about how hard and how amazing it can be to be a professional woman these days. It's truly a special experience to be a host and to have a community of Bombshells: bold, brave, unwaveringly confident women (and men) in business. In this episode I have an amazing discussion with Andrew McConnell, author of the newly released Get Out of My Head: Creating Modern Clarity with Stoic Wisdom. Bombshells, you are going to want to listen to this one TWICE,  take some notes, then order the book and download the free workbook, stat! Andrew outlines how to go from being a "mind tenant" to a "mind owner." He says we spend far too much of our lives giving away our headspace to people who don't deserve it, and leave ourselves renting the remnants as mental tenants. Our mind is our most valuable possession, Andrew says, so becoming a mind owner is the single best investment you can make.  Of course, we have a conversation that opens us both up to our personal experiences like how and when we've rented our headspace out and when we've been determined not to. One of the many reasons I just love Andrew is because he is both real and intentional, and I think you will find yourself lost in this conversation as you consider how many of your thoughts you own versus how many you surrender to others or even “other versions of yourself.” (Yeah, that one hit me in between the eyes, too! I SO do that sometimes! You'll have to listen to find out what that means!) It is true that our thoughts lead to beliefs and then action. So personally, I'm always a work in progress, but I can attest that when I have applied these principles, I have had much more success in managing my mind AND the outcomes in my life. So tune in now on your favorite listening app or watch it on YouTube to take back full ownership and occupancy of your mind!
