This week Tom & Zeus review the 1984-1985 Animalize tour which was in support of their 12th studio album, Animalize. This is SIOL's 9th KISS tour reviewed. This tour followed the Lick It Up tour, which was their first non-makeup tour. Animalize was released on September 17, 1984 and the tour began on September 30, 1984 in England. This was a time when the band members were constantly changing. New guitarist, Mark St. John, who just replaced Vinnie Vincent as the lead guitarist, was having health issues with hand and was replaced by Bruce Kulick. During the tour, Mark ended up playing on only three dates and was eventually replaced by Bruce Kulick permanently. The stage was basic for KISS with animal print. The costumes were similar to the Lick It Up costumes but with animal print and Gene's wig! The setlist featured 6 of the 9 songs from Animalize at one point on the tour. The albums, Creatures Of The Night, Lick It Up and Animalize were emphasized. This was a time when KISS ACTUALLY changed the setlist. At least 11 of the songs on the End Of The Road setlist were NOT played during this tour. As usual, the guys breakdown the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. They then rank the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour against the previous 8 tours reviewed so far. So don't be like poor Mark St. John and sit in catering, instead tune in to another great tour episode! 1984 was the year that saw the introduction of the Apple Macintosh, the launch of the Technology, Entertainment, Design conference, and the year the world learned of the terrifyingly destructive potential of A.I. courtesy of Skynet and The Terminator.   1984 is more than just the title of George Orwell's cautionary, dystopian novel or Van Halen's wildly successful 6th album. 1984 is the year that heavy metal began to intensify exponentially, including the continued evolution of thrash and black metal, as well as the release of “the ultimate anthem” that resulted in one of the greatest music videos in heavy metal history.   Prepare for some “great pod” and one of the most “brilliant” voicemails we've ever received, including our first ever “beer of the voicemail”.  Discover the identify of “the BIGGEST KISS fan” (courtesy of “Blind Dog Malmsteen”), learn what W.A.S.P. actually stands for, as opposed to what we thought it meant (which is actually way funnier), grab yourself some “Scoobitaboosh” in preparation for our Animalize album dive (available exclusively on Patreon), break out your “electric twanger” and JOIN US as we journey back in time to the Year In Metal: 1984.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Support Metal Nerdery - https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast   Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, Google Podcasts or wherever you get your Podcasts. This week Tom & Zeus review the latest Off The Soundboard KISS release, KISS Off The Soundboard Poughkeepsie 1984. This live album was recorded during the Animalize tour which featured a non makeup KISS. This is the 5th Off The Soundboard release by KISS and this one is very unique. It is the first official live album featuring beloved KISS drummer, the late great Eric Carr. This also featured short term KISS member, Mark St. John. Mark only played a couple live shows due to his unique illness. This is supposedly the only soundboard recording of his playing with KISS. He would be replaced again by Bruce Kulick. This is SIOL's 7th live album review. The guy's breakdown the album, the tracks and of course Paul Stanley's outrageous stage banter as well. They list their top 5 favorite tracks and rank the cover (we know) and the album against the 6 live albums by KISS that were previously reviewed.  So say hello to those in Hopewell Junction and try to stay cool because it's FUCKING Hot in Poughkeepsie in November!  For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below:   www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com   Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Care to help us out? Come join us on Patreon by clicking below:   SIOL Patreon   Get all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below: Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise at AMAZON   Shop At Our Amazon Store by clicking below: Shout It Out Loudcast Amazon Store   Please Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below: ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.com   Please subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below: iTunes Podchaser Stitcher iHeart Radio Spotify   Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below: Twitter Facebook Page Facebook Group Page Shout It Out Loudcasters Instagram YouTube   Please check out our sponsor AB CPA, Inc. for all your accounting and tax needs by clicking below: AB CPA, Inc.   Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website: Pantheon Podcast Network Learn more about your ad choices. The early 1980s was a time of tremendous change and transition for KISS.  Just a few years prior, the "Hottest Band in the World" was selling out arenas and their albums shipped platinum.  However, by 1981, Peter Criss was out of the band, with Ace Frehley soon to follow.  The next few years brought line-up changes, a disastrous concept album (Music from the Elder), a return to rock album that sold poorly (Creatures of the Night), and the momentous decision by the band to finally reveal their true identities to the public.  KISS re-imagined and re-branded with their 11th studio album "Lick it Up", and began their ascent to the top once more.  Embracing the 80s hard rock bombast, guitar shredders, and all the glam and glitter of the decade, KISS showed they were still the Kings of the Mountain.  Court, Matt and Tim discuss the often misunderstood and much maligned "Music from the Elder", the return to form with "Creatures of the NIght", and the brilliance of the first two non-makeup albums, "Lick it Up" and "Animalize."

Við lofuðum JÓLA-SPECIAL og við stöndum við það. Og ekki bara það, við tjöldum öllu til í þetta skiptið enda komnir í hátíðarskap. Við áttum stórkostlegt spjall við hinn eina sanna Jean Beauvoir þar sem við fórum um víðan völl en þó að sjálfsögðu með áhersluna á KISS. Eins og hlustendur vita þá spilaði Jean bassann inn á nokkur lög á bæði Animalize og Asylum ásamt því að semja þau flest í slagtogi með Paul Stanley. Hver man ekki eftir lögum eins og „UH! All night“, „Thrills in the night“ eða „Who wants to be lonely“? Þeir Paul hafa verið miklir vinir síðan snemma á níunda áratugnum og eru reyndar enn, og lofaði því þessi nýjasti besti vinur þáttarins að leggja inn gott orð fyrir okkur hjá herra Stanley. Jean Beauvoir var annars hrikalega hress og skemmtilegur og með húmorinn á réttum stað þannig að þátturinn ætti að vera hin besta skemmtun fyrir nördana ykkur, enda nördaskapur 2,0 hér á ferð. Njótið vel og gleðilega hátíð kæru vinir. Við þökkum fyrir hlustunina á árinu sem er að líða og að sama skapi þökkum við einnig innilega fyrir ánægjulegar samverustundir á hinum feykivinsælu LIVE upptökum okkar. Hosted on Acast. A Bitch, A Cow, And A Pig Walked Into A Bar: Why Misogynists Animalize Women - Sherry Colb JD Sherry Colb • http://www lawschool.cornell.edu/faculty-research/faculty-directory/sherry-colb• Book – Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger? #SherryColb  #Veganism #Vegan Sherry Colb is an C.S. Wong Professor of Law at Cornell Law School and author of the book,  Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger?: And Other Questions People Ask Vegans. If you're vegan, how many times have you been asked these, and other similarly challenging, questions from non-vegans? What about plants? Don't animals eat other animals? There are no perfect vegans, so why bother?  Using humor and reason, Sherry Colb takes these questions at face value and also delves deeply into the motivations behind them, coming up with answers that are not only intelligent but insightful about human nature. Through examples, case studies, and clear-eyed logic, she provides arguments for everything from why veganism is compatible with the world's major religions to why vegetarianism is not enough. In the end, she shows how it is possible for vegans and non-vegans to engage in a mutually beneficial conversation without descending into counterproductive name-calling, and to work together to create a more hospitable world for human animals and non-human animals alike. She earned an A.B. from Columbia College (Valedictorian) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (magna cum laude). After graduation, Colb clerked for Judge Wilfred Feinberg of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Associate Justice Harry A. Blackmun of the United States Supreme Court.  She was a member of the Rutgers University School of Law faculty in Newark when she joined the Cornell faculty in 2008 and has held the position of Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and Columbia Law School. Her research and teaching interests center on issues of constitutional criminal procedure (especially the Fourth Amendment), animal rights, sexual equality, and evidence. Colb's scholarship has appeared in the Stanford Law Review, the New York University Law Review, the Columbia Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and elsewhere. She has published a book about the modern challenges of sex equality, When Sex Counts: Making Babies and Making Law (Rowman & Littlefield 2007), and she authored a book about veganism and animal rights, “Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger?” and Other Questions People Ask Vegans (Lantern 2013). Most recently, she has co-authored a book about animal rights and abortion, Beating Hearts:Abortion and Animal Rights (Columbia University Press 2016).  She composes a bi-weekly column on Verdict.Justia.com as well as regular posts on the blog, Dorf on Law. The Kousins and Roadie Ray hold the first Asylum Album Throwdown. Kousin Tim assigned the Kousins to take two post-Ace Frehley, nine-song, two-plus different guitarist albums, Creatures of the Night from 1982 and Animalize from 1984, and pit them against each other. The Kousins went track-by-track; #1 vs #1, #2 vs #2, etc. It was a fun exercise and Uncle/Kousin Stevie "broke the ties" even though there were no ties to break. We don't know how seriously he took the assignment, really. How would your showdown look track-by-track? Let us know by calling the TLDNetwork (KUZZ Army) hotline and leaving a message for the Kousins at 336-422-NUMB (6862). You can also see it on our YouTube channel. We have an Instagram @asylumpodcast and a Twitter @asylum_tales We would appreciate a like, rating, and review. The Kousins talk about the debut album from W.A.S.P. Kousin Tim had never heard the album and knew very little about the band outside of the hits. Roadie Ray joins the Kousins as this is one of his favorite bands (other than KISS) and saw them open for KISS on the Animalize tour. We know he loves it, as does Kousin Gary. So, how does Kousin Marvin feel about and was KT a thumbs or thumbs down? How do you feel about it? Ekaterina started her art journey at The School of Fine Arts in Yaroslavl, Russia, where she completed a rigorous fine arts program. With a solid knowledge of skills and techniques she received a scholarship at The Art School of Museum of Tel-Aviv. There she experimented with different shapes and forms while starting to develop her own style of painting. Ekaterina continued her art education through self-study with various mediums before beginning to focus on using her art to bring awareness for the conservation of wildlife. The intention behind the Animalize project is to reconnect people with nature and wildlife. We have become so focused on our daily experiences that we have lost touch with what lies beyond our urban lifestyles. This has led to a lack of awareness on how our actions affect the environment and wildlife. Animalize reminds us of nature's brimming beauty, presence and need for care. Ekaterina's goal is to bring love for wildlife back into people's hearts. Through the connections they feel when they gaze into the animals' eyes, she intends to awaken the viewer to his or her impact on animals. She hopes to inspire each person to look deeply into their current practices and question how they affect the environment and animals. With her paintbrushes in hand, she paints colors of awareness and consideration for wildlife. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cbaw/support
