And by all we mean two. But they're big ones! The West Coast branch of the podcast was at San Diego Comic-Con, while the East Coast branch was at GalaxyCon Raleigh. We spent the weekend taking cosplay photos, checking out the latest merch on the sales floor, attending an amazing panel on working with cosplay foam, and seeing the original Tim Burton Batman with an orchestra playing the music live. After the recap we went over the second episode of the final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks (it was hilarious), and took a quick look at the latest season of Rick & Morty (it was fine?)Plus the usual tangents into clickbaity events, superhero fatigue, sub-par sound systems, and whether or not we need to watch KPop Demon Hunters. This week's outro is a clip from Ambient Electronic Background by Musinova.Check out Nathan's cosplay photos from GalaxyCon, and all the content from SDCC 2025!Here's Kathryn's Kirsten cosplay and Elizabeth's Art Show display!Looking for a present for that hard-to-shop-for person? See Ana's art 9/5-9/7 for the 17th Annual 50/50 Art Show at the Sanchez Art Center http://www.sanchezartcenter.org/calendar.htmAna is a mixed media artist originally from Michoacán, Mexico, and currently based in Oakland, CA. Her work is deeply influenced by her dreams and the natural world. She seeks to blend the ethereal world of her dreams with elements of nature tapping in the concept of biophilia - a deep love for nature and her connection to it.Though she knows little about her ancestry, Ana's family is from the Purepecha indigenous land. When she learned that dreams hold deep spiritual significance for the Purepecha community, Ana began to pay more attention to her own dreams, seeking a connection to that part of her molecular makeup. She sees her art as both a personal exploration and a celebration of the profound bond with nature, dreams, and a rediscovery of who she is. Mona Kuhn discusses her multilingual upbringing, learning German, Portuguese, and English. Born in Sao Paulo to German parents, she initially spoke German at home, then learned Portuguese in school. Her transition to the US at 18 necessitated truly learning English, which she did by immersing herself in a dorm setting. This multilingual background influenced her experiences and her son's upbringing, who also learned multiple languages from a young age.Show Clip from The Paris Chong Show with Mona Kuhnhttps://youtu.be/0hOYuPcKGVkhttps://www.theparischongshow.com
Mona Kuhn discusses her recent artistic shift towards multimedia projects, specifically her "Kings Road" series. She explains that after years of focusing on traditional photography and print making, she felt the need to explore new avenues post-pandemic. This led her to create a 12-minute film composed of still photographs that are projected onto multiple walls, creating an immersive experience. The project, which also incorporates an original score by her husband, a composer, traveled extensively to various museums, including the Arts Design and Architecture Museum in Santa Barbara, the Kunz house, and a museum in China. Kuhn highlights how the addition of music influences the viewer's experience, impacting their pace and emotional connection to the work. The projections were shown alongside her traditional prints in a separate room, emphasizing the scale and cinematic nature of the multimedia installation.Show Clip from The Paris Chong Show with Mona Kuhnhttps://youtu.be/0hOYuPcKGVkhttps://www.theparischongshow.com

In this episode of the Art Marketing Podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing photographer Gary Roach, who has an impressive background in both nursing and photography. Gary has been living in Naples, Florida, for over 30 years and has developed a passion for wildlife photography, particularly in the vibrant ecosystems of Florida. "BAUBO UNEARTHED,” is an art exhibition in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood that fuses myth, history, and contemporary practice to pull lessons of joy and resistance. Drawing on the ancient figure Baubo — whose irreverent humor disrupted grief — it embodies her spirit to challenge sorrow and imagine more compassionate futures. Reset sits down with the artist and curator of the show Stephany Colunga to learn more and explore the exhibit. For a full archive of Reset interviews, head over to wbez.org/reset.

Join us for an exploration of art and materials in this interview Nathan Terborg, recorded at his solo exhibition at Galerie Benjamin Eck in Munich. Nathan skillfully transforms found objects into thought-provoking art pieces. Discover how his early experiences in his grandfather's woodshop influenced his artistic journey, leading him away from traditional painting towards an immersive sculptural practice. Nathan dives into the essence of experimentation, stressing how the relationship between artist and materials is foundational to creating meaningful work. Nathan's approach of curiosity and discovery emphasizes that artistic freedom resides in the acceptance of imperfection and the willingness to explore beyond the surface. The conversation also highlights the importance of communication through art, with Nathan referencing the impactful words of Louise Bourgeois. This insight showcases the intrinsic value of art as an unspoken language that connects both the creator and observer. By drawing from personal anecdotes and professional insights, Nathan inspires listeners to reconsider their interactions with materials and art forms. As he encourages audiences to engage with sculptures tactually, he elucidates the transformative potential hidden within the discarded. Episode 59 is here pals! Yes, I'm back after missing last week due to the general insanity of preparing for my latest solo art show (that just happened to take place LAST NIGHT) at my much-loved Scratch Bar. In this special solo episode I take you into the frantic, barely comprehendible ramblings of a wrestling-art-dude who's brain is melting by the minute. I talk all things about the lead up to this solo show. The good, the challenging & everything in-between. Take it as a snapshot of my current state of mind having finally put this 16 piece art show out into the world. All completed mostly over the past two weeks. We also had a really fun ALL-LUCHA edition of our Wrestling Club on the evening where I played some of my favourite lucha matches. I've included my intro speech and a little run-down of the playlist in question at the end of this episode.P.S. If you're in the area, please don't hesitate to come on down to Brisbane's Scratch Bar during the month of February to check out Chris Things 2025: "Los Luchadores vs Alien Invaders!"Enjoy!!ChrisThings.com.au is the place for 2025 calendars, my latest book, original art, prints & much more!Follow us on Instagram: @ChrisThings, @SocialSuplexFollow us on Twitter: @ChrisThings, @SocialSuplexLike us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SocialSuplex/Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/QUaJfaCVisit our website for news, columns, and podcasts: https://socialsuplex.com/Join the Social Suplex community Facebook Group: The Wrestling (Squared) CircleWrestling-Art with Chris Things is the Pro-Wrestling Art niche Podcast of the Social Suplex Podcast Network.
