POPULARITY
Remember Ethan, the gay prep school kid Jack met on the train back from Boston? He's returned home again for Capefest, an ill-defined free music festival that seems to be mainly about camping on the beach. Though Jack is apparently not a fan of popular music, he is easily convinced to come hang out, making Jen come as backup. Also attending? Henry, a veggie burger-grilling, Bruce Springsteen-covering renaissance man who has absolutely no interest in Jen and her inconsistent attempts at platonic friendship. Nikki has embedded herself in the Capeside High film department, getting the extremely offscreen Mr. Jordan to break all the rules of equipment loans so she can use it to work on her latest project. When Dawson decides to take his righteous indignation to her house, it backfires into an invitation for dinner from the adorably proud Principal Green, and exposure to her bedroom and values causes Dawson to experience a crisis of...well, interior design. Andie has decided to volunteer as Assistant Director on the school production of Barefoot In The Park, partly as a distraction from her feelings about her breakup with Pacey, but her plans go to hell when she finds out the English teacher directing the play has recruited Pacey specially to be his male lead. EPISODE 66 - “WHEN CLASSIC FILM'S SUPPORTING ACTORS STEAL THE SHOW” - 12/16/2024 There is nothing quite like watching a film when suddenly a supporting character comes in and walks away with the film. (Think THELMA RITTER, S.Z. SAKALL, or GALE SONDERGAARD in almost every one of their films!) This week we are focusing on some of our favorite supporting charters who come in and snatch that scene right about from under the big stars. From JOANNA BARNES' Gloria Upson declaring, “It was just ghastly!” in “Auntie Mame” to the impassioned monologue about love that BEAH RICHARDS delivers to SPENCER TRACY in “Guess Who's Coming To Dinner,” we take a fun look at these powerful performances that we're still talking about today. IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Chris Lemmon With a career spanning over 40 years, Chris has starred in television series for all major networks, including Knot's Landing, Thunder In Paradise, Studio 59, Brothers Sisters, and most notably Fox's highly acclaimed network-starting situation comedy Duet. Plus over 25 feature films like Lena's Holiday, Just the Ticket, and That's Life alongside his father. Lemmon graduated California Institute of the Arts with degrees in classical piano and composition, as well as degrees in the theatrical arts, and went on to appear in numerous stage productions, including the west-coast tour of Barefoot In The Park, directed by the late Jerry Paris, the original award winning west coast production of Shay by Anne Commire, and the highly successful Love Letters with Stephanie Zimbalast. He presently resides in New England where he writes and produces feature films and television and his 2006 memoir, A Twist of Lemmon, is a heartfelt tribute to his iconic father. When Jack Lemmon died in 2001, the world lost a two-time Oscar winner and perhaps the most beloved actor of his generation; but Chris Lemmon lost a father and a best friend. In A Twist of Lemmon, Chris shares family tales, intimate father-son conversations, and anecdotes from and about his dad. Chris then took those stories and memories from the page to the stage, creating his one-man hit show Twist of Lemmon, sharing an intimate look into the experience of growing up in Hollywood, featuring nine of his original piano compositions, a narrative of touching and heartfelt stories, and laugh-out-loud anecdotes from his life and times in the world of Hollywood stardom. Chris joined from his home in Connecticut. Watch TWIST OF LEMMON on YouTube.

Book Vs. Movie: Barefoot in the ParkThe 1963 Neil Simon Play Vs. the 1967 Robert Redford & Jane Fonda FilmThe Margos love a good love story with beautiful people and funny writing. Barefoot in the Park by playwright Neil Simon is a story about two young lovebirds who live in New York City as newlyweds and are trying to find their way in the 1960s. It was Simon's longest Broadway hit and had several adaptations over the years. Corie (played by Jane Fonda in the movie) is a “free spirit” married to Paul (Robert Redford, who originated the role on Broadway) and plays a handsome square/lawyer who wonders if life with Corie ultimately makes sense. Her mother (Mildred Natwick) meets their “upstairs” neighbor Victor and helps Paul see that maybe he can learn to loosen up.So between the two, which did we like more? The play or the movie? Beginning as arranger for Woody Herman he went on to composing and arranging for Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. He wrote for film (The Odd Couple, Barefoot In The Park, Harlow, Sex & The Single Girl) and for TV (the phenomenal success of his “Batman” theme). Newlywed month continues with FONDAVISION's first foray into the Jane Fonda/Robert Redford canon: Barefoot in the Park (1967)! Does this Neil Simon rom com hold up aside from the TRULY UNREAL chemistry between "frequent collaborators" Jane and Bob? Why didn't they just put some cardboard on that damn skylight? And can we talk about Jane's timeless wardrobe courtesy of the legendary Edith Head?

Let's take a second and talk about how ridiculously well Robert Redford and Jane Fonda have aged. You've got two people who are ridiculously good looking at a young age, sure they're probably statistically more likely to be ridiculously good looking throughout their lives, but you're rolling the dice here. Val Kilmer, there's a guy who was ridiculously good looking as a young guy. Top Gun, whatever Batman he was in (I know it was Batman Forever, get off my back Jim Carrey), he was doing pretty well. But then he rolled snake eyes (is that how craps works? How do/does craps work? People always play craps in movies and they seem to shout out completely random numbers but everyone at the table knows what the table needs, it's gibberish to me) and he's present Val Kilmer: a guy who despite his tracheotomy says prayer cured his cancer. I don't wanna step on anyone's beliefs here, but... well... Anyway, we recorded this like two weeks ago and realized we'd never put it out. Barefoot in the Park. It's solid.
All the President's Minutes is a podcast where conversations about movies, journalism, politics and history meet. Each show we use the seminal and increasingly prescient 1976 film All The President's Men as a portal, to engage with the themes and the warnings of the film resonating since its release. For minute 94, I join actor, entertainment host, producer, podcaster and movie nerd, Clarke Wolfe. Clarke and I have a sprawling conversation through pop culture, experiencing COVID-19 in different US states and go long on the fact that denial does not mean something didn't happen. ------------------ About Clarke Wolfe ------------------ Clarke Wolfe is an actress, an entertainment host, and a producer originally from Atlanta, Georgia. When you're searching for something new to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu or even Shudder, search no further: subscribe to Man Bites Film. We bring you a comedic conversation about movies streaming on the main services. Our twisted humor is brought to you by William Phoenix, the man that taps his way into your heart one pun at a time, with his obsession of Harry Potter and Marvel; then the film snob of the group, Luis Lacau, that will bleed his film heart out for Kubrick and Lord of the Rings, but nothing else; finally our host with not the most, Branden Lacau. He's the ringmaster to our circus or the driver of the dumpster fire, keeping us on track, but will always stop to weeb out on AnimeA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart.Inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251–183 BC), specifically Pseudolus, Miles Gloriosus, and Mostellaria, the musical tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The plot displays many classic elements of farce, including puns, the slamming of doors, cases of mistaken identity (frequently involving characters disguising themselves as one another), and satirical comments on social class. The title derives from a line often used by vaudeville comedians to begin a story: "A funny thing happened on the way to the theater".The musical's original 1962 Broadway run won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Author (Musical). A Funny Thing has enjoyed several Broadway and West End revivals and was made into a successful film starring the original lead of the stage musical, Zero Mostel.Join our Man Bites Media Family every Friday as we bring you 5 films each week and the latest movie news.www.ManBitesFilm.com#Comedy #Horror #Netflixmovies #Amazonprime #Hulumovies #Luislacau #Manbitesmedia #Manbitesfilm #Brandenlacau #williamphoenix #Hulu #Shudder #Netflixoriginal #Hulu #Scifi #Comedies #Dramaseries #mbm #podcast #fandom #nerds #geeks #moviesreview #anime #miamireviews #newyorkmovies #Orlandomovies #castlevania #thegoodplace #theresuersdownunder

2019 ist endlich da und »The hype is real«!

In this episode we took our podcast back to the sixties and watched the classic film Barefoot in the Park, starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. It was recorded in the middle of the recent UK heatwave, so we somewhat deliriously ended up talking a lot about Star Wars and Daniel Day-Lewis.
