Träge, dröge, trocken waren die Angriffsbemühungen des VfB an der Alten Försterei am vergangenen Samstag lange Zeit, zudem lag man durch einen Elfmeter der Marke "Naja, wenn das so in den Regeln steht" 0:1 hinten, bis Borna Sosa endlich seine beste Halbfeldflanke auspackte und vorne Sasa Kalajdzic fand. Über das Spiel bei Union, das wie üblich Unentschieden ausging, reden wir zum einen mit Union-Fan Sebastian (@pape_razzo) und zum anderen mit VfB-Fan Andreas (@Kaliba1893). Dabei geht es auch darum, wieso der VfB nach dem späten Sieg gegen Gladbach so zurückhaltend ins Spiel ging, ob bei Union wirklich nur Holzhacker und Motzkis auf dem Platz stehen, warum der Punkt am Ende zwar irgendwie verdient, eine solche Leistung gegen Augsburg aber zu wenig ist. Der VfB gewinnt sehr überraschend mit 2:1 in Mönchengladbach und hat plötzlich doch Chancen auf Platz 7. Eigentlich wollten wir ja die (Podcast-) Saison schön beschaulich ausklingen lassen, da fängt der VfB nach vier Niederlagen in Folge plötzlich wieder an zu gewinnen. Nach dem 2:1 in Gladbach könnte bei einem dritten Sieg sogar die Teilnahme an der Conference League winken! Was unserem Augsburger Gast Vincent (@VK_FCA1907, auch zu hören im MLS Podcast über die US-amerikanische Liga) trotzdem Hoffnung im Abstiegskampf macht ist das verbesserte Auftreten seiner Mannschaft.
