We are so stoked to have our brother Will Hanza of Escaper back on No Simple Road this week! Escaper was formed in 2015 by Will Hanza (guitar, vocals) as a musical collective that pushed creative freedom. Joined in 2017 by Phil Kadet (keys, vocal), the band has become known for fun and fiery sets throughout northeast venues and music festivals. The band has welcomed sit-ins with members of bands such as the Disco Biscuits, Brazilian Girls, Thievery Corporation, Rubblebucket, Dopapod, Cabinet, Turkuaz and more. They have previously shared bills at Brooklyn Bowl with Jon Fishman (Phish), Karl Denson, and many other top performers. After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been joined by drummer Sam Crespo and bassist Luke Bemand. Crespo and Bemand bring a wealth of experience to the band; Crespo tours with notable future jam act Space Bacon, while Bemand handles the low end for heavy groove trio, lespecial. The band recently released the EP, "Spaceship", which was a collaboration with Telefunken Studios. "Spaceship" is now all streaming and download platforms. We had a blast talking with Will about:playing Phish afterparties and what those crowds bring to the table. If reading a crowd and feeling their vibe is a learned skill or are you just born with it.What creating the new album 'Spaceship' was like. His thoughts on practice and if it is simply building memory in order to be able to let go.Overcoming your own headspace in order to be able to perform. How the "No Shorts On Stage" rule works. What gems he found during isolation.... and so much more!Head over to www.escapermusic.com for tour info, merch, and more!INTRO MUSIC PROVIDED BY - WILL HANZA OF ESCAPER-FREE SHIPPING from Shop Tour Bus Use The PROMO CODE: nosimpleroad-Make Sure to visit our friends at Fire On The Mountain for some amazing food at one of the 3 location in the Portland area or one of the 2 location in the Denver area!-CHECK OUT THE NSR EXCLUSIVE BETA PREVIEW OF www.venuellama.comMUSIC IN THE COMMERCIALS BY AND USED WITH PERMISSION OF:CIRCLES AROUND THE SUNOUTRO MUSIC BY AND USED WITH PERMISSION OF:CHILLDREN OF INDIGONo Simple Road is part of OSIRIS MEDIA. Tune in for a brand new episode of Snacky Tunes as Darin Bresnitz is in conversation with Courtney Nichols, co-founder of Disco Dining Club. Disco Dining Club is a bi-monthly culinary excursion steeped in all the excess, debauchery & hedonism of disco. Each dinner features cuisine from a renowned chef, unlimited oysters, an open bar provided by local microbreweries, wineries and distilleries, an all-vinyl disco DJ set, a live performance, multiple, thematic installations, and an invite-only crowd of cultural tastemakers – all donning decadent attire while partaking in a night of disco escapades. It is the intent of Disco Dining Club to take the warehouse scene out of the underground and into the dining room that asks but one thing of guests: to consume everything. In the second half of the show, Greg Bresnitz is in studio with Miwi La Lupa. Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Buffalo, NY now living in New York City, Miwi is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and is an original member of New York bands Red Baraat, Thought, and Knights on Earth. He has performed, toured and recorded with David Byrne/St. Vincent, Femi Kuti, Charlie Hunter, Conor Oberst, Bill Frisell, Spoon, Lou Reed, Antibalas, Mike Gordon Band, Noah and the Whale, The Impressions, Michael Leonhart, Nublu Orchestra (Butch Morris), Red Baraat, El P, Slide Hampton, Michael Franti, MMW, The Dap Kings, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Mocean Worker, Brazilian Girls, Fela! on Broadway/Lagos, Ozomatli, Thought, Beyondo, Knights on Earth, Smoota, Kenny Wollesen, and Les McCann.

Trio Holiday Mountain, a self-described "dance psych pop workout," has been defying genres since forming in Berklee in 2011. Composed of alumni Laura Patiño '12 (vocals, synthesizers), former Five-Week Summer Performance Program student Zander Kagle (drums, electronic percussion), and Bradley Will '09 (synthesizers, electric bass, vocals), the Austin transplants were recently featured in Spin magazine, which streamed their new E.P., You Be You, Part One, calling it an "all-encompassing pop record that sounds like a mutant fusion of Deee-Lite, of Montreal, and Brazilian Girls." Currently on tour in support of its new release, Holiday Mountain is playing Cafe 939 on May 16, 2015, and can be seen at clubs and festivals throughout North America this year, including Keep Austin Weird and Utopia Fest VII in Texas.
