Orlando City got a break from league play last week but the Lions' first foray into international cup competitions wasn't exactly the triumphant experience for which we all hoped. Orlando created some good opportunities early but failed to cash in against Santos Laguna and it came back to haunt the Lions as the visitors scored at the half hour mark and then choked City's attack the rest of the way. Still, it was a good learning experience for the club, a chance for Orlando to grow and learn, and if you have something to say about the goal Mason Stajduhar conceded, you might want to get yourself in front of a tailing, spinning kick that bounces out in front of goal and see how easy it is to stop. Also, you might want to direct that energy at the 10 guys in front of him who failed to score a single goal — every team needs at least one of those to win a game. That's all I'm saying. We break down the game and make our Man of the Match selections. The Orlando Pride remain unbeaten under Becky Burleigh and despite missing some starters, the Portland Thorns are no slouches. The Pride grabbed a much-needed point against a difficult opponent and weren't far off from taking all three. We discuss the latest Pride outing and the loan of defender Konya Plummer to the Swedish league. We touch on the career of USWNT veteran Carli Lloyd, who announced she'll be leaving the game this fall. Lloyd has been an amazing player for the Yanks for a long time and has been an important piece of the team's success over the years. This week's mailbag is overflowing! Listeners want to know about white elephant gift exchanges, TML writers as soccer players, the Marvel shows in Disney+, legendary team lineups, and whether the time is right to bring back Carlos Rivas. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. We close the show with our key match-ups and score predictions for Orlando City at Nashville SC and at home this weekend against the Chicago Fire. That's all for this week. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 259 went down: 0:15 - Orlando City's Leagues Cup run didn't last long but the Lions don't have to hang their heads despite bowing out to a good Santos Laguna side. Plus, the Pride got another result against a tough opponent. 34:41 - Thoughts on Carli Lloyd's career, our mailbag, and previews and predictions for Nashville and Chicago.

Humanity has been chasing peak performance and consciousness since history was first recorded. What are the three approaches we can take to achieve peak performance? What are the top-down and bottom-up approaches to optimization? What allows us to tap into enlightenment? On this episode, Dr. Carlos Rivas talks about his work, and how we reach the pinnacle of the human experience. You start to realize that as soon as you change your physical state, your consciousness shifts and that will shift your biochemistry. -Dr. Carlos Rivas Takeaways from this Episode Health optimization medicine (the biochemical approach), flow state optimization (elevating consciousness to enhance your wellness) and finding purpose and meaning in life are the 3 components that drive your optimized self to your peak performance. Illness medicine is broken if left alone as it is. There is a lot more to health and medicine than represented in the sick care model, and people will continue to suffer if they don't recognize this. The spiritual enlightenment component makes itself more readily available when you’re optimized. The three pillar approach is about intervening with a patient’s biochemistry as bio-harmoniously as possible to make that intervention helpful, not harmful. Ultimately this is about one goal: reaching the pinnacle of the human experience and identity, which is peak performance and consciousness. Optimization is essential for us physically, but it's also about finding your purpose in life and redirecting your optimized self in that direction. It's up to us to make the most of what we've been given.

The Lions finally got into the win column in 2018 this weekend, beating the New York Red Bulls in a back-and-forth thriller, 4-3. It was a fine season debut for Dom Dwyer, who went 64 minutes, scored a brace, and drove his friend Aurelien Collin nuts all day. We’ve got our breakdown of an eventful match that saw the return of Carlos Rivas and Tommy Redding to Orlando City Stadium — albeit in the enemy’s uniform. The Orlando Pride were 10 minutes from a road draw while down seven starters — five to international duty and two to injury. But then Mallory Pugh happened and you can never predict when Mallory Pugh will happen. It was disappointing and now the pressure is on Tom Sermanni’s club. We discuss. OCSC Assistant Coach Miles Joseph joins us to talk about working with Jason Kreis, how the staff divvies up responsibilities, scouting the next opponent, and much more. The final segment includes our answers to listener questions in our Ask The Mane Land PawedCast mailbag. If there’s something you want us to address on our next show, just tweet it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. We also give you our key match-ups and score predictions for Orlando City’s date with the Portland Timbers on Sunday afternoon. Here’s how No. 119 played out: 0:12- Hey, an Orlando City win to talk about! Sadly, there’s also an Orlando Pride loss to kick around. 36:48- Miles Joseph jumps on the horn with us and we go inside the workings of the Orlando City coaching staff with the veteran assistant. 55:58- The #AskTMLPC mailbag and our laughable predictions for the Lions vs. Timbers. The PawedCast returns to its normal day as we try to take some of the sting out of Saturday’s double-header of sadness. Orlando City and the Pride both sustained embarrassing losses that produced their leagues’ respective Players of the Week. That’s not good, but there is some hope in this week’s pod. OCB won its game at Rochester with one goal and a whole lot of desperate defending. Cyle Larin has been cleared to return to team activities — including games. Carlos Rivas’ ankle injury may not be as bad as it initially looked. So hey, those are all positives. Joining us this week is RSL Soapbox editor Matt Montgomery to help us preview Orlando City’s match at Rio Tinto against Real Salt Lake. There are a lot of storylines with Jason Kreis, Will Johnson, and Luis Gil all returning to Salt Lake City and Matt helps us dissect those and a lot more. Besides the upcoming RSL match, there’s a midweek Pride match at Sky Blue FC and a double-header at Orlando City Stadium on Saturday with the Pride hosting Chicago and OCB welcoming FC Cincinnati. Plus our key match-ups and score predictions for Lions-RSL. Here’s this week’s rundown: 0:12- Dave and Michael on an unexpected Pride home loss vs. the Dash, the debacle in Chicago, the return of Larin and what he has to prove, OCB’s road win, Gold Cup rosters, and other stuff. 43:30- Matt Montgomery jumps in and drops knowledge on us about Real Salt Lake and what RSL fans have endured this season, plus, who is Luis Gil, really? 1:06:31- Orlando City gets one last shot at a June victory on Friday night. Let’s get to those key match-ups and score predictions, as well as our Ask The Mane Land PawedCast mailbag. Got a question? Just tweet it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. With D.C. United's first midweek game of the season coming up this week, we have a jam-packed episode; we also have to do it without the services of Adam, who is off on assignment. In his stead, Jason and Ben break down D.C. United's 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, including starting off by talking about Jose Ortiz's embellishment and Kendall Waston's role in all of it. We also talk about Bill Hamid's penalty and how bad the Whitecaps were in front of goal. We end this segment by breaking down how good Bill Hamid was and how good Ian Harkes was. We then move on to talk about tomorrow's game against Orlando City SC, including how poor they've looked since their great start. We talk about how Cyle Larin and Carlos Rivas run the show, how much rotation they may have to do, and who might start up top for United. For the final segment, we bring back one of our favorite guests, Josie Becker, to talk LA Galaxy. We get into how much better the team is without Jermaine Jones, whether or not Curt Onalfo can keep him on the bench, and how Romain Alessandrini has changed the team. We also ask Josie to gameplan the Galaxy for us, all in-between jokes about British accents and Scientology. Give it a listen! We are also launching the Filibuster Patreon(https://patreon.com/filibuster) today, so go take a look at the things that we want to do and the benefits you could acquire. This show as it is won't be going anywhere, but we really want to be able to take it to the next level, which we can only do with your support. Thanks!
Another week produced another win at Orlando City Stadium and we’re here to talk about Saturday’s 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids. We’re breaking down what the Pids tried to turn into a sleepy Saturday afternoon but actually turned into an exciting OCSC victory, including our picks for Man of the Match. We also discussed the Pride’s 3-1 loss at North Carolina Courage, and OCB’s 0-0 draw at home last Thursday against Saint Louis FC. Speaking of the young Lions, we’ve got their gaffer! OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis returns to the PawedCast to discuss the first quarter of the USL season, the team’s current two-week hiatus between games, his surprises at striker this season, what he’s learned from Jason Kries, and more. And there are not one, but two upcoming games to talk about. Orlando City hits the road this week and hopes that it doesn’t hit back. The Lions are off to face Toronto FC and the Houston Dynamo in the next few days and we’ll have our key match-ups and score predictions for those matches. Here’s how the show unfolded: 0:12- Carlos Rivas and Kaká came off the bench to lead the Lions to victory on Saturday and we want to talk about it. Plus, the Pride, OCB, Ashlyn Harris’ postgame remarks, and Orlando City Stadium was selected to host a World Cup qualifier! 38:32- Anthony Pulis reprises his guest starring role here on the PawedCast and the OCB coach gives us his thoughts on the team’s slow start, the season so far, and where the young Lions are headed. 55:33- Our key match-ups and score predictions for not one but two huge road games against two teams that are unbeaten at home — Toronto FC and the Houston Dynamo. Without the pressure of a playoff race, Jason Kreis was able to freely take a look at his young fullbacks and change the formation of the team. It worked. Orlando City went into Philadelphia and came away with a 2-0 victory over the Union, collecting just the club's third road victory of the year. Carlos Rivas and Julio Baptista provided the offense and Joe Bendik and his back line took care of the clean sheet. We break that down for you in the absence of our usual host (sick this week), with Austin and Andrew taking control of the cast this week. The Lions will close out the season this Sunday at Camping World Stadium against D.C. United, and we looked ahead to that 2016 finale on the broadcast as well. In addition, Orlando City will host an alumni game with some ex-USL Lions as well as some players from former pro soccer teams from Orlando suiting up against ex-Rowdies. Here's how it happened: 0:00- Recapping the win at Philly, a detailed discussion of Carlos Rivas and Orlando's Designated Player slots. 17:30- Rafael Ramos and Mikey Ambrose played fullback on Sunday. We take a look at the two young fullbacks. 23:00- Throwback Day and the Orlando City Alumni Game. 31:00- A look ahead to D.C. United in the season finale. They're a dangerous team and we discuss why. Also, our score predictions! We'll be back next week to wrap up the season-ending match against D.C. and look ahead to the long, dark off-season. Learn more about your ad choices. It’s been a long time since Orlando City enjoyed a two-game winning streak and so we’re going to enjoy this one for as long as we can, even though we’ve got a trip to play the LA Galaxy coming up this weekend. That trip was made all the more difficult with this week’s announcement that Landon Donovan is returning from retirement to help the Galaxy the rest of this season. He’ll reportedly be available for selection on Sunday too, which has us pretty terrified, even if only because of the emotional lift he’ll give LA. We break down Donovan’s return and give our key match-ups and score predictions for Sunday’s game. But before that, we’ve got a lot to talk about. We give a complete blow-by-blow breakdown of Orlando City’s unbelievable 4-1 win at Montreal and the tour de force performance by substitute striker Carlos Rivas. Goals, penalties, sendings off and even an indirect free kick in the penalty area. This game had it all and we are happy to chat about it. We also discuss the Orlando Pride’s 1-1 draw at Sky Blue FC and the very pointed comments by Ashlyn Harris about her teammates in the wake of that disappointing result, in which Alex Morgan had staked the Pride to a 1-0 lead. Then we get into the free falling OCB and discuss whether they can hold onto that last USL Eastern Conference playoff spot. It’s going to be tough. Plus, the USMNT, Cyle Larin, Kevin Molino, the Hex, and more! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Sometimes things don't go as planned. While wrapping up this week's PawedCast, the news broke that Orlando City had fired Head Coach Adrian Heath. That sent us on quite a tangent, and our listeners will hear us discovering the news and processing it in real time. Sure, we could have hit the stop button and talked out how we wanted to tackle the topic, but that's never been our way of doing things and so here it is. We were typing all the four-letter reactions of astonishment while talking, so you don't have to hear them. That's toward the end of the show. We had plenty to talk about before that even happened. We do a bit of a rewind to Monday's 4-0 loss at FC Dallas despite not wanting to do so. We talked about what's going on with Carlos Rivas, the departure of Adrian Winter, plus Orlando Pride and Orlando City B. Then we welcome Derek Stowers, an editor over at Dynamo Theory, to help us preview Friday night's match-up with Houston. Derek talks a bit about the changes with the Dynamo in 2016 and why he's optimistic about his team's chances on Friday. After that, we've got answers to listener questions and our own key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City vs. Houston, but that whole Adrian Heath thing kind of interrupted that midstream. Here's how it unfolded: 0:13- Worst loss of the season at Dallas; what's the deal with Carlos Rivas?: Adrian Winter's departure; Orlando Pride happenings; and Orlando City B's continued resurgence. 36:27- Derek Stowers hops aboard and gives us his perspective on the Houston Dynamo, Owen Coyle, and more. 55:05- Listener questions and BREAKING NEWS ON ADRIAN HEATH, and then perhaps some key match-ups and predictions but those seemed superfluous. Orlando City may be winless in the last four matches, but a come-from-behind draw at New England felt a bit more like a win with Carlos Rivas scoring his first MLS goal in dramatic fashion. While it wasn't three points, it's a hard-earned road point in the tight Eastern Conference race, so we'll take it. We'll discuss Saturday's match at Gillette Stadium, Rivas' contributions and a whole lot more from the 2-2 draw. We also talked about the Pride's 1-0 loss at Chicago and OCB's 10-man win over FC Montreal. It was the USL side's first home win of the year. And we've got an exclusive interview with defender Conor Donovan, who was injured in MLS play a year ago but got some minutes in that OCB win. Conor was kind enough to tell us about his injury, the road back and what he expects from this season. And we give you our key match-ups and score predictions for Friday night's rematch with the New York Red Bulls. Here's the itinerary: 0:13- Drama in Foxborough, as the Lions come back from a late 2-1 deficit. We've got our takes and our Man of the Match. 34:28- Conor Donovan jumps on and tells us what he's been up to since that fateful night against the Philadelphia Union. 48:48- Keys to victory and match predictions! Three wins in a row. Sounds good, doesn't it? The only thing better than winning three in a row would be to win four in a row. Orlando City will try to do just that on Saturday and if the club pulls through, the playoffs are still not out of the realm of possibility. It will be a tough challenge against a Montreal Impact club that's very much in form since the addition of superstar striker Didier Drogba. We're here to preview that imporant match-up. But first, we want to dwell on the past. Specifically, we want to dwell on a big 5-2 win at Red Bull Arena last Friday night. Cyle Larin, Carlos Rivas, Luke Boden, Lewis Neal, the woodwork...we rate all of their performances. We pick out our Man of the Match selections, as well. And there's a little Cristiano Ronaldo talk in the air. It's ridiculous but it's out there, so why not talk about it? We close with our key match-ups for this weekend and our score predictions. Here's how it happened: 0:26- Our analysis of a fantastic win over the New York Red Bulls, including hat tricks and goal streaks and all three Designated Players playing well. 15:52- Our MotM selections for last Friday's game, and it's not unanimous. 21:02- Cristiano Ronaldo to Orlando City? We think not but dare to dream! 24:51- Previewing Montreal Impact and what Orlando City has to do to get a win. 32:04- Our key match-ups and final score predictions! Learn more about your ad choices. Michael Citro and Kevin Mercer dissect Orlando City's 2-0 loss to FC Dallas, which could actually have been a 2-2 draw if not for a blown offside call and Carlos Rivas blasting his PK high and wide. We've got it all - St. Ledger's injury, Luke Boden's sending off and, of course, our Man of the Match. We also discuss majority owner Flavio Augusto da Silva's remarks to the media at halftime of the game about Chicharito and what they might mean for the Lions, moving forward. Then Jason Iapicco from Once a Metro and the Red Bull Rant joins us to tell us what we can expect from Saturday's upcoming match against the New York Red Bulls. Jason gave a great account of why they don't care much for New York City FC fans and tells us which Red Bulls we should watch for. And we make our ridiculous match predictions! Here's how it went down: 0:26- Michael and Kevin give their overall thoughts on the FC Dallas match, plus St. Ledger's ouchie, Boden's two yellows, Rivas's PK and more. 19:57- What's up with Chicharito? Our takes on Flavio's remarks on Saturday night about the negotiations with the Mexican international. 28:22- Jascon Iapicco jumps on and gives us the Red Bulls' perspective on the match, plus why some fans left RBNY for NYCFC. 51:20- Prediction time! We're sure to be wrong. That's it for this week. Follow us on Twitter & visit our site! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
When will the madness end? We've got so many fixtures and so little time to talk about them. This week, we recap the 2-0 win over Colorado Rapids last week and the 2-0 win in U.S. Open Cup play over Columbus Crew SC earlier this week. We give you our Man of the Match for both games and discuss what went well for the lads in purple during this recent home stand. Hint: we both think Carlos Rivas had a pretty good week. And is the Citrus Bowl becoming a fortress? Somehow we roped RSL Soapbox Managing Editor Matt Montgomery into being on the show and giving us the lowdown on what to expect Saturday night at Rio Tinto when the Lions take on Real Salt Lake. RSL is going to be missing star players Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman, but they've got other weapons and Rio Tinto is a tough place to play. We appreciate Matt's insight into the team. We also talked about the possibility of adding Mexican striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez in the upcoming transfer window. Please note this was recorded before we learned of Hernandez's injury. And we give you our soon-to-be-ridiculed score predictions. Here's how it happened: 0:26- Kevin and I get into the meat of what happened against Colorado and Columbus and we both liked what we saw. Plus, the Citrus Bowl is a purple fortress! 28:17- Matt Montgomery jumps on and very articulately explains all we need to know about RSL, and he offers his score prediction. 50:03- A little more RSL preview, plus a side trip into Chicharito discussion. Plus, predictions! Tune in next time for our recap of the Lions' trip to Salt Lake City. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
