The podcast crew takes on the topic of prehospital analgesia. What pain medication do we choose when facing a complex patient with all analgesics available? Are there better options for hypotensive patients? What about pregnancy and the elderly? On this episode, we'll walk through our MCHD pain medication options, take a moment for a BLS reminder, and discuss some specific situations where certain medications are the best fit. REFERENCES 1. Join the lads for a live Twitter Space special as we break down all the latest Millwall FC news and transfer updates!
This week, we're delighted to welcome Millwall's Managing Director Mark Fairbrother to the show. This is a football club that many people both in and out of football have a preconceived idea about, built around historical associations with hooliganism and social unrest. These perceptions are rooted in media portrayal, cultural symbolism and sociopolitical factors rather than the club's present day values. So, what does the Millwall of today represent and stand for? Off the back of a hugely successful Championship campaign which saw the club fighting for a play-off spot on the last day of the season, eventually finishing 8th, Mark is building both a club that can push the boundaries of its modest budgets (comparative to their competitors) and act as a pillar of the community. Football clubs are more influential than ever to the people that support them and localities they serve; this is a club going a step further. We're very excited to bring you this; an insight into one of England's most notable clubs intent on rooting itself high up the football pyramid. On today's show we discuss: The Millwall Identity: What makes Millwall unique and why does the club's reputation precede it? How does the club lean into its history without being constrained by outdated stereotypes? What does “no one likes us, we don't care” mean to the leadership today? Is it a challenge or a strategic asset? Can a club change how it's seen without losing its soul? Running a Championship Club: How do you balance short-term results with long-term stability in a volatile league? What are the day-to-day commercial realities of Championship football? How does Millwall approach player trading and squad investment with limited resources? How do media rights and the recent Sky deal affect clubs like Millwall? Is the EFL sustainable as a whole or are financial disparities becoming too great? Football Business vs. Football Culture What are the pressures of running a club where emotion runs high, but margins are tight? How do you manage fan expectations while still being fiscally responsible? Is the modern football club more like a community anchor or a business enterprise and what happens when those two pull in different directions? What's the biggest misconception fans have about how football clubs are run? Millwall's Future What does success look like for Millwall? Is it promotion, survival, or something else? How is the club investing in infrastructure, community, and culture to grow sustainably? What are Millwall's ambitions on and off the pitch in the next five years? Can the club compete with parachute-funded rivals while staying true to its values? What role does leadership at club level play in shaping the future of the Championship? Matthew Fairbrother's wild effort to bikepack through the entire 2022 EWS season was an incredible accomplishment, and he's just kept stacking up bonkers feats of endurance on a mountain bike in the years since. So we once again sat down with Matthew to talk about what he's been up to of late, including winning the NZ Rally despite forgoing all the assisted transfers; kayaking one of them with minimal experience in a kayak; more animal encounters (check out our earlier episode with Matthew for a real all-timer there); how he manages to switch between race mode and getting in the right mindset to just grind out massive miles and elevation; and a whole lot more.RELATED LINKS:Matthew's 2022 EWS Tour (Ep.139)BLISTER+ MembershipThis Week's Gear GiveawayTOPICS & TIMES:Taking on the NZ Rally (2:23)Transferring by… kayak? What if you could keep your clients engaged, loyal and paying for at least three years, instead of struggling with a revolving door of short-term clients? For many entrepreneurs, retention can be a significant challenge, and end up chasing more clients instead of relying on consistent revenue. The answer might lie in hosting mastermind groups, which elevate the traditional group coaching model by fostering a deeper synergy amongst participants. Masterminds provide a transformative environment where peer learning, collaboration, and support come together to create more value than typical coaching sessions. In episode 412 of Amplify Your Success Podcast, Jay Fairbrother joins me to reveal the power of masterminds for long-term client retention and business growth. Jay, a seasoned business coach and mastermind facilitator, shares his insights on selecting the right participants, creating impactful group dynamics, and establishing a supportive "container" for collaboration. Tune in to discover how implementing a mastermind can lead to a more stable and prosperous business. Key Takeaways: 06:12 Jays surprising experience of ‘finding his tribe' and how masterminds helped him grow a $10M company. 11:40 How masterminds began, what they are and how they benefit business owners. 13:56 Why you can't copy someone else's mastermind, but create one that is uniquely you, to get impact and results. 15:02 Two key factors in creating a mastermind that drives real results (and I share a huge mistake and lesson I learned years ago). 21:06 Defining what ‘high ticket' masterminds actually are. 23:17 How mindset and perceived value play a critical role in pricing, even when experience and credibility are equal 23:58 Where the true value of a mastermind lies regardless of initial success or pricing. 27:03 What motivates people to stay in a mastermind long term. 28:51 Jays concept of fewer clients, better clients, and longer term clients and how to achieve it. Instead of a one-way flow of information from the coach, masterminds foster a collaborative, peer-to-peer learning experience where participants can directly apply the insights and strategies shared by their peers. For direct sales professionals, masterminds can be a game-changer, and whether it's forming subgroups within the same company or connecting with leaders from different direct sales organizations, the mastermind model allows for a deeper level of support, accountability, and cross-pollination of ideas.By carefully selecting individuals with a common goal and level of commitment, the facilitator can create a container of trust, respect, and shared understanding that enables profound personal and professional growth.Entrepreneurs who position the mastermind as an exclusive, high-value offering can attract a select group of clients who are willing to invest in the transformative power of peer-to-peer learning and support."Within a few years, I quite literally went from being a multi-millionaire living in a mansion overlooking one of the rivers of Pittsburgh to living in my friend's basement, broke, bankrupt, divorced, alone, humiliated, and really ashamed.” — Jay FairbrotherFREE Mini Ebook: Attract and Keep Clients for 3 Years Not 3 MonthsLearn about the Fewer-Better-Longer Mastermind Model to scale your business past six figures even without a big list or fancy sales funnel.Link: https://bdsm--theprofitarchitects.thrivecart.com/mastermind-mastery/63cd8d2e0e04a/Don't miss out on Jay's Six Figure Masterminds BootcampVirtual Event on Nov 20-22: “Create Your Unique Mastermind Program in 3 Days”In this interactive workshop-style event, you will determine the best Mastermind model for you, zero in on exactly the right purple fish clients to attract and plan to launch your new high-ticket, recurring revenue program!Link: https://bdsm--theprofitarchitects.thrivecart.com/mastermind-bootcamp/65e49d109f71c/Connect with Jay Fairbrother: Facebook Name: https://www.facebook.com/jayfairbrotherFacebook Business Page: https://www.facebook.com/sixfiguremastermindsLinkedIn URL: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayfairbrother/Instagram Link: https://www.instagram.com/sixfiguremasterminds/Instagram Business Link: https://www.instagram.com/sixfiguremasterminds/Connect with Jennie:Website: https://badassdirectsalesmastery.com/Email: jennie@badassdirectsalesmastery.comFacebook personal page: https://facebook.com/jbellingerPLFacebook podcast page: http://facebook.com/BadassDirectSalesMasteryFacebook group for Badass Crew: https://facebook.com/groups/BadassDirectSalesMomsInstagram: https://instagram.com/BadassDirectSalesMasteryPersonal Instagram: https://instagram.com/jenniebellingerLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/BadassDirectSalesMasteryShow Notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Natalie Roles narrates this promo for our friend and sponsor George Fairbrother's latest novel "Lost in Solway" Solway is a tough industrial city somewhere on England's North Sea coast. The Great Depression laid waste to its proud engineering and shipbuilding heritage, creating poverty on a Dickensian scale, but the onset of World War Two offered the dying city a lifeline; moribund industry was resurrected for the war effort and thousands went back to work. But now the city faces a new threat, this time from above; docks, factories and military installations are prime targets for German bombers, turning long winter nights into hours of relentless, soul-destroying terror. Movie-obsessed Sylvia Bullock and easy-going Sidney Williams grew up together in the working-class terraced streets around Old Forge Lane. As young adults, they are now on the frontline, working the late shift on the buses, and facing dangers as real and immediate as many of their friends and family fighting overseas. One foggy night in the bleak January of 1943, with storm clouds and enemy bombers in the skies above them, life-and-death decisions confront many of Solway's home front heroes and villains. That night, Sylvia and Sidney are brutally propelled into a strange and incomprehensible world, easily as terrifying and uncertain as the one they had left behind. "...The tale spans two different centuries, characterized by distinct circumstances. The author vividly describes every scenario and builds all the characters brilliantly. It is a story that every ardent fan of historical fiction will enjoy. You will get as close as you can to a community adapting to times packed with uncertainty and stress due to war; from bomb shelters to nightmares visiting war veterans and black marketeers..." (Online Book Club) "...This was a great read especially if you could relate to the era and location. The descriptions were spot on. I liked the author's style and enjoyed reliving the history, albeit it depressing. I purchased the e-book and because it was so good went and purchased the paperback for my library..." This week on Life in the Peloton we have a rider who really is one of a kind - possibly the first person to combine Enduro MTB racing and bike packing; Matthew Fairbrother. For those of you that don't know, as an 18 year-old Matt headed over to Europe to race in the Enduro World Series (now EDR), and ended up on an unplanned bike-packing adventure, riding between rounds as far apart as Scotland and Slovenia. Like a lot of people, I can remember hearing about Matt at the time - this crazy kid who was riding a massive Enduro MTB between races - and then still competing for results in a competition as difficult as Enduro, which (as I've learned) requires some amazing technical skills on the MTB. His adventures really caught on, and since then he has managed to travel the world with the support of the MTB community, making his a really incredible and unique journey with the bike. As I've gotten to know Matt, I thought it was the perfect time to dive in to his story and to understand how this concept of mixing bike-packing and Enduro MTB came to be, and, interestingly for me, what it was like to be totally alone with just a bike and a few dollars in Europe. For many of us roadies who think that travelling to Europe to race for a team is a lonely experience - you really have to check this pod out and hear how tough things can really be! Above all else Matt has a really cool outlook on life, and I've had such a great time learning from him, and of course having the chance to make this pod! Cheers! Mitch

Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP Since retiring from the pro pelo, I've been itching to dip my toes into as many different cycling disciplines as possible. I raced on drop handlebars and skinny tyres for over a decade, now I want a heap of new challenges to tackle on the bike. I love getting out and exploring on my gravel bike, and I've tried my hand at some gravel races; but the bikes and bunch dynamics feel a little too similar to road racing sometimes. I want to get out of my comfort zone! Cross-country mountain biking was the natural next step. I started out by exploring my own backyard on the rowdy moto tracks in the Cobaws, then some races in Aussie events like Otway Odyssey, Reef to Reef, and Cape to Cape. Every time I got on the XC bike I felt like my skills were improving and I was growing more and more confident - the same feeling I had all those years ago when I first got into road cycling as a youngster. It was new, challenging, and I could feel the progression with every ride. My cross-country journey hit new heights at the end of last year as I took on the creme de la creme of XC MTB; the Cape Epic, alongside my good mate and fellow retired road racer, Ian Boswell. Despite completing one of the biggest mountain bike races on the planet, I still feel like there's more to explore in the world of flat handlebars, chunky tyres, and suspension. I want to keep working on my skills and pushing myself in areas other than pure fitness. That's why I'm diving headfirst into the world of Enduro. Enduro is the perfect next step on my mountain biking journey; there's some pedalling, sure, but it's more about technique, skill, and balls! In Enduro racing it's all about the downhill - only the descents are timed. Nobody gives a fuck how fast you can climb, you just need to get to the top so you can send the next trail. Riders race multiple stages throughout an event, and at the end the lowest cumulative time wins. I started by chatting to Paul Van Der Ploeg. A great bloke, and a fantastic mentor to show me the ropes and teach me the basics, Paul and I headed out to Mount Macedon so he could critique my technique and give me some pointers. Paul has raced all sorts of bikes over the years, and even became a world champion himself in the Cross Country Eliminator in 2013, but was humble enough to strip it all back and teach this newbie some basics. Next, I spoke to Matt Fairbrother. Only 20 years old and hailing from Christchurch in New Zealand, Matt is a ripping Enduro racer who made a name for himself by bikepacking his way between the races at the Enduro World Series - sometimes thousands of kilometres at a time! Matt and I had a chat on the road to the New Zealand MTB Rally; a brand new event that I'll be taking on to help me better understand the world of enduro. Despite being almost half my age, Matt's one of the most experienced riders out there and shared a lot of his wisdom with me on a road trip down the coast of the South Island from Christchurch to Nelson. When we arrived we had a couple of days to spare before the racing started, so Matt took me out to some of his favourite trails in Nelson City and Cable Bay to show me the race course so we could pre-ride, re-ride, and then free ride! We also spoke about the tech side of enduro. I've not got much clue when it comes to tyre selection or suspension settings - so I spoke to Paul and Matt about the bikes to get some pointers. I even learnt that my bike's got a mullet just like me! There's so much for me to learn about all things mountain biking, but I'm loving being a beginner again and soaking it all in! Have a listen to me talking to some real experts as I send it into the world of enduro. Cheers! Mitch

MONETIZE WITH A MASTERMIND Creating a mastermind is a great way to monetize your podcast. It is easy to wonder why people would pay to be in a mastermind. When you can bring a group of people together to stir the power of a mastermind, it is well worth then investment. MASTERMIND LINKS: Mastermind Ready Scorecard: http://www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/jay Jay Fairbrother: http://jayfairbrother.com Six Figure Masterminds: https://sixfiguremasterminds.com NAPOLEON HILL MASTERMIND In his book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill defines the Master Mind principle as, "Two or more people who work in perfect harmony for the attainment of a definite purpose. When working with a positive mental attitude, this group will constitute an unbeatable force." Hill goes on to say, "No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind." There are five big benefits of being in a mastermind. When you curate the power of the group, you save your members time and effort trying to create the power themselves. It takes time and effort to find the right people to create your mastermind. When you bring together the right mix, great things happen. MY MASTERMIND I have been in a few masterminds. Each runs a bit differently. My primary mastermind consists of just two people, my friend Jon and me. But it didn't begin that way. In 2017 this mastermind was started by Jon and consisted of four of us. We were all in the online business space building and growing our businesses. This weekly meeting provided support and encouragement to each of us. Six months later, two members left and we had two new members joined. Of our two new members, one only lasted a month. Over the years, members have come and gone each contributing in their own way. Jon and I have remained consistent. We haven't looked for any new members for quite some time. We simply support each other each week to reach our goals. I've been in three other masterminds that have had up to a dozen participants. From these experiences, I've experienced many benefits. Let's look at the top five. CHALLENGES First, we share challenges. Each week we bring the big challenge we are facing. Just talking out the challenge often generates a breakthrough. Sharing challenges also shows members they aren't unique in their challenges and are not going through struggles alone. We all run into hurdles. FEEDBACK The mastermind also provides a high level of feedback. When the members are carefully selected, each has a unique super power. Feedback comes from many different perspectives. Receiving feedback from and solving problems with a variety of perspectives can be very powerful. It also generates a variety of solutions. COLLABORATION WITHIN A MASTERMIND When you mastermind with other amazing minds, you have the opportunity to collaborate with great people. This is completely different than networking. You are creating amazing relationships with great minds. OPPORTUNITIES A mastermind can open an whole new world of opportunities. When the people in your mastermind need experts in various fields, they will look to people with whom they've already created relationships. Your mastermind can create business opportunities, speaking gigs, new guests, and a variety of other situations. ACCOUNTABILITY Finally, your mastermind provides accountability. Information alone doesn't create transformation. It takes accountability. When you know you have to show up every week and report your progress to members of your mastermind, you tend to take action and get results. Great things happen when you take action. The accountability through your mastermind will help you reach your goals. THE MASTERMIND GUY Today, Jay Fairbrother joins us to discuss the power of a mastermind. Consensual non-monogamy is still taboo and can bring up feelings of fear, jealousy, and insecurity for many people. However, with infidelity being one of the top reasons for divorce, I'm curious about the data around how a polyamorous lifestyle can actually bring many couples together in truth and connection. I sat down with Dr. Nichole Fairbrother, Ph.D., a registered psychologist and head of the UBC Perinatal Anxiety Research Lab to explore the topic of ethical non-monogamy.In this episode, she answers all of my burning questions: What exactly is ethical non-monogamy?Are we, as humans, wired for monogamy? How does a couple navigate these unconventional waters? How does jealousy play into the dynamic, if at all? ... and more!Let me tell you, this conversation was a huge eye-opener for me. While I know monogamy is ultimately my jam, speaking with Dr. Fairbrother gave me a whole new point of view. Ultimately, we're all wired for connection in our own way.

HOW TO MONETIZE YOUR MESSAGE We know who we help and what we help them do. But, have you ever considered how you monetize your message? You might say, "Yeah, Erik. I'm a coach." Or you might say, "I help people find a new career or launch a business." Those concepts are "what" you do, and not necessarily "how" you do it. Your "how" might include one-on-one coaching for six months at a time. You might offer a six-week course that helps clients achieve success. Those ideas would be your how. It is the vehicle that you actually sell. There are a variety of ways to monetize your message. MONETIZE YOUR PODCAST Your podcast gives you a great opportunity to attract your ideal clients. You can interview potential clients and open the door to that relationship. Your podcast content could demonstrate how you help people. Then, you could invite them to work with you. I have clients that use their podcast to sell affiliate products and services. You can't monetize your podcast until you figure out what you're selling. How will you monetize your message? To generate revenue, you need to determine how you will package your knowledge for people to buy. HIGH-LEVEL MONETIZE My business really took a turn when I developed my high-level, Podcast Profits Concierge offer. I often heard experts say it is just as easy to sell a $9,997 offer as it is to sell a $97 offer. That sounded crazy to me. Surely more people would buy a $97 offer than a $9,997 offer. And, that may be true. However, it takes a sales conversation to sell either one. It also takes great follow-up. When people invest in a $9,997 offer, they are more likely to take action. They have more skin in the game. When people invest in a $97 offer, it doesn't hurt as much if they don't implement. I find that people don't use the program as much when it is inexpensive or free. But the biggest difference in selling the $97 offer and the $9,997 offer is the quantity you need to close. You need to close over 100 $97 offers to earn as much as one $9,997 offer will generate. And, you still need to follow-up with, onboard, nurture, and deliver the offer to all 100 people that purchased the $97 offer. Or, you can do it all once with your $9,997 client. Rather than selling more of my $29 workbook, or $197 recorded course, or $497 group coaching program, I spend more time trying to find high-end clients for my Podcast Profits Concierge program. PODCAST PROFITS CONCIERGE The Podcast Profits Concierge program is a full done-for-you program that will produce and post your podcast, YouTube video, and show notes. We also create your social media assets. You simply show up and perform. Our team does the rest. Podcast Profits Concierge also comes with one-on-one coaching with me and group coaching inside the Pocast Profits Accelerator. All for $2,000 a month. Imagine how many clients you could serve if you weren't spending all of your time producing your podcast. You just show up and perform. Then spend the rest of your time growing your business. Enrolling one client in Podcast Profits Concierge is equal to enrolling 40 people in my 6-week group coaching program. To monetize your message, develop your high-end offer. Then, warm up potential clients with your smaller offers. Treat them well and serve. Once they see your magic, they'll understand the transformation you offer with your high-end program. On this episode, I have a great conversation with two of my colleagues. I've worked with these two in a variety of ways over the years. What they offer is true gold. It was my goal to interview each of them. I was lucky enough to get them both at the same time for a powerful conversation around how to monetize your message. New Zealand cyclist Matt Fairbrother made a splash in the 2022 Enduro World Series when, at age 17, he bikepacked 4,000 kilometers to get to the races. The journey started when he couldn't find transportation from the Scotland event to the next race in Slovenia. With only a few thousand dollars to cover his entire season, he decided to bikepack instead. Even as his enormous commute picked up media and sponsor attention, he decided not to accept offers for easier forms of transportation and continue bikepacking instead. His journey often required riding for 24 hours at a time with only a couple hours of sleep each night, all on a bike weighing over 70 pounds. In this conversation, Matt talks about why he decided not to bail on the season after finding himself stranded in Scotland, and what it was like to ride that first 1,500-kilometer push to Slovenia (his first ever bikepacking trip). He talks about the night when he was stuck in sub-freezing temperatures in the Alps without enough warm clothes to get him through to the morning, and the time he was held up at a ferry for being under 18. He also discusses his decision to continue bikepacking to his events in 2023, and the new sponsors that are along for the ride.Instagram: @theadventurestache

Matthew Fairbrother showed up in Scotland for the 2022 EWS season opener, at age 17, having never left New Zealand before, and with no plan for what was going to follow that first race. And in what is one of the wildest mountain bike stories of the year, he wound up bikepacking over 3,400 km between races over the course of the season — and still finished 13th overall in the U21 Men's category. So we sat down to get the whole story, which somehow just gets even crazier from here.TOPICS & TIMES:Planning the tour (2:17)Matthew's gear (7:37)Bike setup & weight (10:55)Matthew's approach to sufferfests (13:32)Hallucinations and “fluffy animals” (15:20)Motivation & the mental game (17:40)Sleep, nutrition, and animal attacks (22:20)Scotland to Switzerland to Slovenia & diving into races (26:17)Making it to North America (32:05)Other racer's reactions (34:27)Whistler & over-enthusiasm (35:46)Moose encounters & crossing the US border (42:44)Burke & Sugarloaf races (46:28)Wrapping up the EWS circuit in Europe (48:00)Lessons learned (54:11)The MTB community (58:07)Matthew's 2023 plans (58:53)RELATED LINKS:Eric Olsen (Ep.126)Introducing: CRAFTEDIntroducing: Open MicBecome a Blister MemberBlister LabsThis Week's Gear GiveawayBlister Mountain Bike Buyer's GuideOUR OTHER PODCASTSOff The CouchGEAR:30Blister PodcastCRAFTED Hosted on Acast.
