Customs data shows China's foreign trade saw steady growth despite a complex external environment in the first three quarters of this year. From January to September, China's foreign trade in goods increased by four percent to over 33.6 trillion yuan, or 4.7 trillion U.S. dollars.

In a move to bolster the legal framework underpinning China's opening-up, Chinese national lawmakers have commenced their review of a draft revision to the Foreign Trade Law. It is a non-profit organization representing the Mexican private sector in international affairs, particularly focusing on promoting foreign trade, investment, and technology. COMCE Nacional has announced a new satellite office in Pharr at the Pharr Global Business Hub. Its leaders did so during a two-day tour of the Pharr area. The trip included a visit to the Pharr International Bridge and the Mexican Consulate's Office in McAllen, along with meetings with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and UT-Rio Grande Valley.“We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with COMCE National a couple of months back. And when we sign an MOU we want to make sure that we follow up. With President Donald Trump bent on initiating a trade war by hiking tariffs on imports from major trading partners such as China, Mexico, and Canada, an infamous piece of legislation passed in 1930 is piquing Americans' curiosity. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act imposed the highest duties in U.S. history on roughly one-fourth of all imports. It contributed to a steep falloff in global trade and exacerbated the Great Depression. Just when world commerce needed stimulation, many countries erected tariff barriers, often in retaliation for Smoot-Hawley. In this episode, economic historian Phillip Magness of the Independent Institute delves into the reasons why U.S. leaders once believed high tariffs were beneficial and how the executive branch obtained broad power to manipulate tariffs in the decades since. The Ministry of Commerce says China will strive to ensure its network of free trade areas contribute to about 40 percent of total foreign trade by 2030.

Official data shows China's total goods imports and exports expanded 6.1 percent year on year in yuan terms in the first half of this year.

Authorities say China's total goods imports and exports expanded 5.7 percent to over 13.8 trillion yuan in the first four months of the year.
